Guest Reviews
- Farah Izzah (10/5): - Excellent
- Pin How (10/5): - Very clean hotel with free indoor carpark on premise which is very convenient & safe for us coming by self drive. However, too bad that the hair dryer was not available when we requested at midnight.
- Desmine (6/5): - Hair dryer upon request.
- fun yen (10/5): - Room was very clean
- Andy (8/5): - Good
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Each time visit KL, usually will stay this hotel. Easy get food n like shopping at NSK
- Ong (6/5): - Bathroom door cannot lock, 2 towels for 3 pax and slow check in.
- Haze (2/5): Bad service - Poor staff attitude, especially the night shift staff. And poor housekeeping
- Verified traveler (6/5): Pervasive bad smell - Upon entering the lobby we were hit by a strong urine smell. Check in was fast, so we could escape the smell quickly. The floor in my room doesn’t seem to be cleaned properly because it felt a bit sticky, and no slippers were provided.
- NareshK1080 (8/5): Value for money hotel - This hotel is near to famous bus station and ideal for those who are travelling through bus. The Room was nice and clean and staff was friendly. We reached late at night in this hotel and were well received by the staff. The check-in and check-out were smooth and we did not face any problem.
- Vivien (8/5): Satisfied - Hotel is pretty new. The room is clean though small and no window for my 2 single bedded room. Overall happy with my one night stay. No complaint because was too tired.
- Yeui (8/5): Nice budget hotel - Staff is friendly and attended to our every needs.
- geng59 (8/5): Business Traveler Friendly & Value for Money Accomodation - PLUS POINTS
- Choice of location for me due to my intended meeting place in this vicinity.
- Complimentary parking nearby is a plus point.
- Quiet and suitable for a good rest after the days busy schedule elsewhere.
- Food choices (simple and no fuss) available nearby and within walking distance.
- Room for 3 persons is spacious and well maintained. The separate toilet and shower rooms are certainly very thoughtful and convenient for its occupants.
- Friendly reception staff makes you want to visit again.
NOT SO GOOD
- Exit to the main roads may pose a challenge during peak hours.
- Family with children must find it a hassle and boring.
- Fussy food lovers may be disappointed.
- REVR_NYC (6/5): Better than your ordinary budget hotel - Hotel MinCott is one of those budget hotels that exceeds the category. We chose the hotel for it's proximity to where we needed to be in Kuala Lumpur. If you're looking for an affordable, no-frills place to stay slightly away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this should be right up your alley.
No issues checking in even though we arrived in the wee hours of the morning. We stayed in a family room that was clean and very spacious even with a queen and single bed. The room though could use some refurbishment. Particularly off-putting were the cigarette burns on the bathroom sinks left by other irresponsible guests. The staff makes up for it though by keeping the room refreshed every night. Speaking of which, they were always very friendly and tried to help as much as they can with our needs and inquiries.
There's a "mamak teh" at the end of the block that was good for traditional Malaysian breakfast or quick late night bites. Also a big supermarket nearby and shoplots within walking distance with various "kopi tiams" if you're looking for more food variety.
Fair warning, though. The hotel doesn't have direct access from the main road or nearby highway. The ground floor lobby is on an inner road between two shoplot blocks, accessed by going first through a parking ticket gate. A certain GPS program that-will-not-be-named will also probably lead you the wrong way if you're not familiar with the area. Parking, though, is free which is great as you or your friends will probably be driving in.
All in all, we had a pleasant stay here and would definitely come back here if we need to be back in the area.
- C. Yu (6/5): nice staff and good outlook but old condition - Good location with local restaurant and supermarket nearby. Good outlook of hotel but room conditions is old and no toothbrush could be provide.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Different Treatment - I arrived at 12:30pm, and request check in, the staff said No room available. Ya, expected answer. So while I was waiting for my taxi arrive, another person come and request early check in. I don't know what she said, the staff immediately check available room for her. F ya.
- Ashton (6/5): Good service and WiFi, poor facilities. - Went on a business trip, booked 4 rooms for 8 travelers. They do not issue multiple key cards, not even when there are multiple occupants in a shared / twin room. This makes things INCREDIBLY difficult when the occupants need to leave / return at different times. Hotel staff service and WiFi connectivity are good. Shampoo provided by the hotel was absolutely horrendous - not expecting top-quality material, but it should not be some sticky goo that sticks on hair like molten plastic. Room cleanliness was acceptable, but the ceilings are dirty. Bathroom was clean. Food is available nearby, and bar is located opposite of the hotel. The loud music is audible in the rooms close to the bar. Minimalist-style rooms were nice, but it would be good to have a mini-fridge so travelers may keep their food fresh.
- chin (8/5): Friendly staffs - Special thanks to the receptionist her name Siti always smiling and helpful. There was a power cut while I was there. It was unbearable in the room not to mention my room is on the 5th floor. She has been very apologetic
- EltonMa (6/5): Quiet. Clean. Budget. Average Location - - Location is a bit of a problem (even if you have a car). It's far from CBD.
- Supermarket next door. Restaurants nearby.
- Room is clean, spacious enough. Amenities are good. Friendly staff.
- Unlimited Space for Parking. Free too.
- If you intend to stay in KL only for city sightseeing / shopping, this hotel might not suit you.
- Annnyy (8/5): Sweet stay.. - We were searching for a budget hotel as we just wanted a few hours to rest as majority of the time we were on a city tour on our short stay..
Perfect budget hotel I should say..
You even get good food nearby at walking distance. .
Clean rooms , friendly and helpful staff is all you need to relax especially in a budget hotel..
Good option for an in budget hotel in KL.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Room is comfortable, Hotel is convenience.
- JoannaW916 (8/5): Good Clean budget hotel - This is a good, clean, no fuss hotel. Internet connection is so so at times. I stayed in the standard room with no windows, which is kind of a blessing in disguise as I can hear the traffic when I stepped out from my room.
No toothbrush or tooth paste, but no big deal, i always brought my own. You will need to ask for hair dryer, no fridge nor safe so you will have to your valuables with you i guess. Bath towels are the thicker type, but no hand or face towels. Each bed was given two pillows. I find the bed a bit smelly and there was no cable channels, one star deducted for that.
All in all, it is a good, clean budget hotel. Price wise, it is not the cheapest.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Short stay - Short business stay, location slightly weird.
- jennlsk (10/5): More than what you can ask for in a budget hotel - Mincott Hotel may be a budget hotel but it’s service isn’t sloppy. The staff are friendly and housekeeping is thorough. The room is simply furnished but with a contemporary look. Though the bathroom/toilet isn’t very spacious, there is no water leakage water and the water pressure has been excellent throughout the day. It has unlimited access of free WiFi and complimentary newspaper provided for 2 or more nights stay. If you drive, you will get complimentary parking. By the way, there is 24-hour security guard on duty everyday too.
MinCott Hotel doesn't serve breakfast, but we have spent some time scouting around Kuchai for food. My blog (http://mylilbookworm.blogspot.sg/2015/05/mincott-hotel-kuala-lumpur.html) for the eateries around Mincott.
- Saurabh (10/5): Wonderful Stay in Mincott - Wonderful stay...
Broadband wifi required can be provided
- SingaporeYoungCouple (6/5): So-So - Stayed here somewhere in November 2014. Booked the family room. Staff are prompt to our requests such as extra pillow, iron etc. Free parking infront of lobby and basement with tight security &cctv.
Room does not include breakfast but you can conveniently get it at 24hrs mamak stall located at the end of the hotel building.
- wah1030 (8/5): Hotel MInCott - The best choice in Kuchai Lama - I will strongly suggest my friend to go this hotel if they want to stay at Kuchai Lama Area. The hotel provide the free parking and 24 hours free Wifi.
Staffs are helpful when we have any request on that.
Room - wonderful , clean, and tidy.
Overall rating, I will give 3.5 stars to this hotel.
- Bliz1221 (8/5): Clean, comfortable and affordable - Free underground parking provided, many of the budget hotels do not even have their own parking. Might be able to hear some noise from the main road as the overhead bridge is quite near but during my night there i did not notice any disturbance. Very clean and no funny smell, will definitely return
- fx trader (6/5): SMALL HOTEL WITH COMFORT - suitable for short comfort stay for travellers and business meeting in town
- SingaporeYoungCouple (8/5): Overall its a nice stay. - Stayed in a family room consist of 1 queen bed & 1 single bed at level 3. Our room full height windows overlooking the parking below (hotel entrance). Its good so we can have a peek at our car where we parked below.
Stayed only one night but we reached as early at 5am so we paid extra abt 70% of one night rate for early check-in.
There were a total of 4 of us (all adults). We requested 2 more extra pillow and staff are prompt to our requests.
Room is decent and clean with safebox, mini fridge, flatscreen tv, hot water, coffee etc.
The housekeeping made up our room nicely and replaced new towels when we are back frm our breakfast at about 2pm.
There are 2 separate toilets in our room. 1 bathroom & 1 toilet.
You can park your car there with a peace of mind as there are 24hrs security guard & tight cctv around.
Room doesnt include breakfast but u can get your breakfast/ lunch/ dinner at a mamak stall nearby located at the end of the hotel building. Its quite expensive compared to other similar stall in KL though and to be honest the food is not really nice especially the prata!
- THL_11 (6/5): Everything good, except Noisy - Stayed here for 1 night recently, hotel located in a business park, free basement parking provided. Check in was fast. i booked a deluxe room and given room 520. Room is clean , aircond, hot shower, wifi working fine, bed is soft and comfortable. There is one "mamak" shop, few massage centers near the hotel.
The only complain is the noise from the nearby highway, day and night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Brand new hotel. Very clean. - Nice but just a bit hard to find. Overall a good hotel.
- 14050TanY (8/5): valuable - the location is in business area, so car park provided. surprisingly there provide a massage chair (with fee) for relaxing~ very useful , can find some restaurants and pub nearby in walking distance! i like the counter service friendly and wi-fi service fast!
- RaeLeighWP (6/5): Pleasant stay - Hotel MinCott was the best option for my friend and I as we wanted to be near the Bukit Jalil National Stadium. Checking in was smooth, and the receptionist was very friendly. Early check-in is chargeable at an hourly rate, but since we were early by an hour and a half, she was very nice and charged us for only an hour.
A refundable cash deposit was required, and we complied even though we were slightly concerned about it - we weren't sure how safe this was and whether we would even get it back. The room was very clean and tidy, and was impressive considering that it was a budget hotel. Standard could be comparable to a regular hotel except for the lack of a minibar. We had gotten the most basic - Superior Room with twin beds and those were comfortable enough. The toilet was surprisingly big, and it had a steady supply of hot water as well as basic toiletries.
Nearby was a "mama store" where we had our meals but prices were quite high compared to other places I've eaten in KL.
Overall a pleasant stay, and we definitely got a good value for the price we paid (discounted through Agoda.com). Will stay again if we ever head back to KL for any event in that area.
- amydevo (8/5): Good choice if in KL for the National Stadium. - Book on booking.com for discounted rate. We took a deluxe double, meaning we had a window. Rather small room, but very clean, not that cheap but the location suited us and was reassuring to know we were booked into a decent hotel, with twin beds and a window. Nice bathroom, with towels and toiketries, newspaper left outside the door in the morning, also wake up call and taxi service. Perfect for one night.
- Claire_wh0 (8/5): Clean and well maintained - Friends and I shared a triple room, it was very nice, if a bit expensive for what we got. Service was excellent, very helpful when it came to booking tours or any other information we might need, and they let us print boarding passes for our flights with no problems. A bit hard to find-we drove around in a taxi for about 20mins before we found it-make sure you've got a good map! Beds were comfy and the amenities were nice. There's also a cafe right around the corner that does a killer lemon slushie which is great for a hot night at 11pm!
- mushroom89 (8/5): Good and cheap! - 100% marks for its location if you have a car with you, a strategic location and easily access to few township nearby (PJ, Midvalley City, KL City, Scott Garden)
It looks quite new and the room is clean, with daily room service provided. lowest rate at RM101 (Booking.com) and its definitely a good place for you to rest comfortably. Good place, no complain.
- cam182 (8/5): Overall it's a good hotel - Stayed with my wife for 2 nights for a trip to KL. The hotel itself is good. It provides free basement car park for guests, the lobby design is modern/simple type and the staff are quite friendly.
Generally, the room is alright for its price. We booked a deluxe room, it is specious, have a big window and provides sufficient lighting. WiFi speed is fast. However, there are some scratch marks on the wall (not really a problem if you don't mind). The toilet/bathroom is on the small side but facilities like water, ventilation and hot water supply are working fine during our stay.
The bed and pillow is comfortable, but I found some very small blood stain on my pillow cover.
Location wise, it is not right inside KL City Center or the heart of KL, so expect a bit of driving from the hotel to KLCC. Driving time depends on traffic condition. During our stay, we experienced an 1 hour drive to KLCC area due to Friday evening jam. However, on a Saturday morning when traffic is clear, it's just 10 minutes drive to KLCC on the same route.
There is a Indian Muslim restaurant right at the back of the hotel (same building), which provides quite a nice food.
Pros: Free basement parking, deluxe room is specious, comfortable bed, fast WiFi, reasonable price, complimentary newspaper provided if you're staying 2 nights or longer.
Cons: Toilet/bathroom is quite small. The highway to KLCC will jam severely during peak hours. Location is a bit hard to find but not a problem once you recognize the entry.
- JarodakaSteven (6/5): A hotel good for a day stay in a Neighborhood (Kuchai lama) - Pros:
1) Around a neighborhood (Location) Food is plentyful
2) Quick Check in
3) ticketed parking (with guard)
4) Provides car rental for a low RM130 with a deposit RM130
5) Peaceful area.
Cons:
1) Bed had stains on it
2) No breakfast
3) Toiletries are poor.
- brandern (8/5): The best value and clean hotel that you'll ever find for this price - It's cheap but yet 4 stars standard. We stayed here for a night because I forgotten to pay our home electricity bill. Surprisingly it was comfortable, the room was clean and parking was free. The hot shower was good. There isnt much of a view feom the window. it is basically a place to rest comfortably while you are in KL. Remember to get the parking ticket validated before you exit. If you are thinking of leaving hotwl ib the morning on a weekday, remember to leave early as there is massive jam just in front of hotel. Overall, it is a recommended neighborhood inn for visitors or business workers when they are in town
- JanJ980 (8/5): Comfy beds - My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. The staff were fabulous - this was our first place to stay after landing in Malaysia so we needed lots of extra help. The location is hard to find for the taxi drivers so email the hotel for specific directions and ask for the map. Print it out because otherwise, the taxi drivers have a difficult time finding it. The room was clean and the beds were really amazing for a budget priced hotel. The Indian restaurant down the street at the corner was great for breakfast. We ate both nights at the food court in the shopping center. The food was really good, cheap and the people surprised to find foreigners eating with them. Nobody spoke English so we relied on sign language. It was hard to find a cold beer in the area but we finally found one down the road. It was a short taxi ride to the train station which was also convenient. Overall it was a great experience and we would stay here again.
