Guest Reviews
- Michael (10/5): - staff were great
- Makayla (10/5): - The room was clean and lovely, as was the shared bathrooms and kitchenette. The aircon kept the room cool, with good blackout curtains allowing a solid sleep in.
- Jessica (6/5): - Hi there,
Firstly the positive was that the staff were friendly. That made a difference.
The biggest problem for me was a safety concern which I am sure was not intentional. I checked in there for two nights with my 4 year old son on Wed 1st and Thurs 2nd of October. So on the 2nd, just as we were about to sleep, our door was opened by the guys that were checking in next door. I was so scared and loudly said "Excuse Me" and they closed the door before stepping in. I went outside and they told me that they thought it was their room (they were in 1A and we were in 1). I called the front desk to ask why the people next door can open our door with their key as this is a very scary situation for me and my child. They then fixed the key cards and one of the employees (maybe Manager, I'm not sure) came up to us and sincerely apologised for the error they made. This apology changed my reaction by a lot. I'm sure it was a one off mistake but please be very careful and use the other internal security locks when you're staying here just in case.
The toilets, sinks, benches were so clean but the shower was a different story with stained walls and floors. Shower really needs a good clean.
The kitchen includes tea, coffee, bread, milk for guests to help themselves for breakfast. Open the plates cupboard and you will see dirt on the small plates. The kitchen cupboards are not so clean.
I do not recommend this place for people with small kids but the staff are friendly. Thank you.
- David (10/5): - The best Pub stay I have had. The band playing downstairs was loud but very good also. Having a dining area and kitchen upstairs was a bonus.
- Guy (8/5): - Pleasnt stay, helpful staff.
- Katharina (4/5): - Unfortunately, our first room had cockroaches, a completely ripped-off flyscreen, and a non-working AC. After requesting a change, we were moved to another room, but the AC still didn’t work, and the beds were so uncomfortable that we barely slept. We wouldn’t come back. Breakfast was basically just toast from a shared fridge. On the bright side, the reception staff were friendly. Shared bathrooms were not dirty.
- Darren (8/5): - Great place to stay for an overnight stay.
- Janine (10/5): - Clean comfortable room convenient location pleasant staff - all I needed for 1 night, will stay again if I need to - highly recommend for the price, excellent value
- Stephen (8/5): - Neat tidy and clean
- Cristine (10/5): Imperial Hotel at Maitland - Room was really good value as its location was right in the centre of town. Ate at the Bistro downstairs. Overall very happy with my stay.
- Stacey (6/5): - Great astics old looked old school.
Very clean, beds a little hard.
Shared bathroom for all rooms.
Showers where amazing nice and hot.
Downside heater/aircon did not work asked bar staff if they could look at this they never showed up, NIL heating for the night.
Breakfast included was a litle kitchenette with out of date bread in the fridge.
- Talia (10/5): Great Place! - Our stay was wonderful, they have complementary breakfast (milk, juice. bread, cereals and yoghurt) bathrooms were slightly squishy but great pressure and hot water. Friendly staff and really accommodating.
- Gregory (10/5): - Central location.Lovely restaurant and cold beer!
- Wendy (8/5): - Charming place, great vibe, great staff, room was lovely, food was great too!! The live band playing that night was also awesome!!
the only fault is that the bathroom light is on a timer & it went out half way through my shower so I had to finish shaving my legs in the dark!!
- Terence (10/5): - good value excellent meal staff very helpful
- Peter (10/5): - Excellent value for money
- Carlos (10/5): - Always consistent
- Domer (10/5): - Nice
- Pete (10/5): - Great staff on check-in went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Lovely old building full of history with touches of modern style. Great food and live entertainment . Will for sure be back
- Damien (10/5): - Location
- Paul (10/5): - Great staff
- david (10/5): Great place 2 park for da night - It a great view and place to stay
- Sophia (10/5): - Old charming Hotel in a lovely area. Budget friendly includes breakfast; this is generous on their behalf for their guests to start the day. Grateful to Christopher & Will for giving me a spacious, quiet & lovely room. Thank you for your warm hospitality!
- Phil (10/5): - Excellent value.
- Phil (6/5): - Didn’t like the loud music and noise of people on the back deck.
- Robert (10/5): - Country pub feeling in a city pub. It was clean and quiet with off street parking and staff were great. The meal in the dining area was absolutely fantastic and well priced.
- Glenis (8/5): - Pleasant room, good bed. Hard to find staff at times. Limited breakfast food selection.
- Luke (10/5): - Great service
- Wayne (8/5): - Good value. Room clean, beds comfortable. Self serve breakfast is available and included in the price. Excellent bar and bistro. Live music Friday and Saturday is noisy but you're warned. That was my 3rd stay and will stay again.
- Halina (10/5): - Rooms are simple and comfortable.
Shared bathrooms are obviously not modern, but extremely clean.
All in all a great place to get a simple night's sleep
- Michael (6/5): - Reasonably priced
Central
Clean
- Melissa (2/5): - I didn’t appreciate the rude staff.
- Ratu (10/5): - Friendly staff & food was lovely & affordable
- Ratu (10/5): - Friendly staff & food was lovely
- Glenys (8/5): - Always lovely to stay here. As a solo woman traveller, I feel quite safe and the rooms/linen/bathrooms are very clean and well maintained. I love that the old fashioned decor is maintained.
- Joanne (2/5): - The booking site said breakfast included, it was not. The booking site was misleading with respect to room facilities, no bathroom, and tea and coffee was in separate area. Bed was small and uncomfortable, with springs looking into us. Extremely noisy ( very loud music and patrons)until 1am, then for next hour till around 2am, drunken patrons in the street outside our window were extremely loud, yelling. Only 2 of the staff were friendly, most were scowling and barely acknowledged any greeting. Overpriced for extremely basic accommodation. When I complained about the false advertising, I was told that it was the fault of WOTIF.
- Elliott (6/5): - Ok for the price just not great
- Philip (10/5): - For the price of a single room this is excellent.
- david (6/5): - Nice food staff and pub but the rooms have no aircon I couldn’t sleep very good
- Thinh quoc (6/5): - Friendly staff, fairly clean rooms except for the occasion bugx2 i found in the room.
Carpet is old but clean.
Beera fantastic, fridge clean! Kitchen sink clean, toilet/showers clean!
- Sogimaa (8/5): - Rooms good, could aircon, clean, the only thing wasn't good, the tv wasn't working, power point wasn't working too
- Haider (6/5): - It’s not bad for one night it’s not noisy at night other than that wasn’t bad
- Verified traveler (10/5): Imperial maitland - Great. Frienfly, helpgul staff
- Jacky (8/5): - Old style hotel with shared amenities. Facilities were clean.
- Joshua (2/5): - Rude staff, unhelpful and unmotivated
- David (10/5): - Clean presentable room at good price
- Robert (8/5): Quaint stay - Around it was good having travelled many miles to be told we were minutes to late to get a meal was really disappointing empty kegs being knocked over in the alley outside our room at 3am rather annoying
- Joanne (10/5): - Location
- Samuel (8/5): - Very good for the money. Nice staff. All round did the job
- Sandra (4/5): Old and tired - Only share toilet and shower facilities available
Carpet old and tired. For tea and coffee you have to
use the share Kitchen. OK for a one night stay
- Alisa (10/5): - Clean friendly
Place
- Melissa (8/5): - .
- Martin (10/5): - Absolutely charming building. Needed last minute accommodation and was able to get in here. The room was great. Super comfy bed. Clean Room. Check in was super easy and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend.
- Dr David (8/5): - Friendly manager. Accommodation was comfortable and adequate.
- john (8/5): Good bed and comfort priced right. aok. - A Hotel room. c 50's deco ? Clean sheets n towels. Tidy. TV A/C. Some counter meals. Good hot showers (separate M/F). Secure. Separate accommodation entry, Good CCTV parking at rear. In CBD. On River. Quiet. Good sleeps while travelling.
- David (8/5): - Old style pub with shared facilities but great decor.
- Shane (10/5): - Great all round
- Weihong (2/5): Too noisy - The musical noise from ground floor bar lasted till 130am when I stayed Friday night. I do not know other days.
- Chelsea (8/5): - Had to attend an expo at Maitland, found this place on line. Super easy to check in/out. Clean tidy, helpful
- Margaret (4/5): - We had difficulty skeeping as room was above a party till 2am that had ele tronic beat music playing. Patrons were noisy after eve t with seawring til 3am. As hitel was not full, a better room locationshould have been available
- Steven (6/5): - Checking in was very sensitive and required my licence and card to be photographed, sensitive information that I hope is secure. Room had not been cleaned from previous guest, luckily 1 bed was clean,so used it, must admit that I have stayed here before and have had a positive experience.
- Ian (8/5): - Good for the price
- Jo (8/5): - Great property. Downside was noise from night club below intil 2am Friday and Sat night. To be expected when staying above a pub. Other than that very clean, comfortable and affordable. I would stay there again.
- Jana (8/5): - Convenient old style pub accommodation.
- Qie (10/5): - First please note this motel is right above the Imperial Irish Pub, and there will be live music and drink customers downstairs during the weekend. If you are a deep sleeper or like to hangout in the pub then this place is right for you; if you are looking for a quiet place to relax, then better choose another place.
Overall, I love this place (even I didn’t sleep very well Friday and Saturday night) and it’s decent for the price. I chose this motel for my son’s basketball tournament in Maitland, and it’s the only place available in Maitland when the game roster releases. This place only changes half or even 1/3 of the price comparing to other motels and hotels in that area. The room type is a single room with shared bathroom and toilet. The room and facilities are a bit old but the bed sheet is clean and everything is tidy and clean! Considering we only use this place for resting and sleep, I am happy with everything offering here, for example, it comes with light complementary breakfast (toast, milk, cereal, and yogurt), there is microwave and fridge to use, simple clean up everything when you are done eating. The cleaning lady is quiet but get the bathroom cleaned everyday. There are plenty of restaurants just around the corner, and WWs supermarket is about two blocks away. Most importantly, the Murray River is right behind the motel, and you could have a nice walk along the river side in a sweet sunny afternoon/evening! I really love this place and will stay here again!
- David van (8/5): - Very large rooms, free use of kitchen (for breakfast and coffee/tea). they had several showers and toilets in wet areas separate for men and women.
Although there was a function on we had no issues with the noise apart for our room that was next to the wooden staircase, this was audible, especially if a group would be traveling to their place of rest.
- Jiri (10/5): - Very well preserved/renovated pub accommodation
- Damien (10/5): - Nice.and convenient for what i needed
- Kristy (8/5): - Nicely historic with some modern conveniences
- Jasmine (10/5): - Friendly atmosphere and staff, lovely old pub with a stunning interior.
- Wayne (10/5): - Good sized room. Comfortable bed. Showers very clean. Self serve breakfast included. Live music on Saturday night a bit loud but to be expected on weekend nights.
- Ron (6/5): - Facilities great & beautiful old pub, but didn't count of loud head banging music on sat nite
- Tony (8/5): - I would stay here again.
- Philip (10/5): - Well maintained pub and accommodation in a very convenient location.
- Di (10/5): - Thanks for a nice stay! Loved the Irish publican in the day time he made us very welcome. Clean comfy digs for a rural stay, food terrific and we also enjoyed happy hour prices whilst we watched the footy. We will be back!
- Tamara (10/5): - It is a pub, with a room upstairs, very simple
- Julie (8/5): - The only thing that made it unpleasant was the loudness of the drums from the band that was playing at the hotel on Saturday night..The room was vibrating from the noise. It wasn’t pleasant as the noise was so monotonous.
- Geoff (10/5): Great pub style hotel! - Fantastic pub stay hotel. Way better than I expected. Modern, clean and welcoming.
Cracking pub with great staff.
Free continental breakfast( help yourself) but note there’s no on suite bathrooms even if site may suggest that.
Communal bathroom and toilets spotless.
I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again, top marks to Nick and staff.
- Garry (10/5): Clean and tidy . Nice blend of old and new. - Very comfortable
- Darren (10/5): - As far as pub rooms with shared amenities go this is great value and spotlessly clean. The staff are cheerful and very accommodating. I will definitely put on top of my list for my next stay in Maitland.
- Belinda (10/5): - Old style comfort. Bathrooms are dormitory style. Air con was ice cold. Brilliant for the price.
- Nicholas (10/5): - Great manager and friendly staff
- Raul (8/5): - Good service, clean place, good price.
- Lord (10/5): - It was really nice and quiet. Definitely better than a pub stay had any right to be.
- Cath (10/5): - great value for money
- Brett (10/5): - Great service
- Syed (8/5): - Clean room, comfy bed
- Damien (10/5): - It was close to the station, which was handy
- Murray (10/5): - Excellent budget accommodation. Great shower!! Really good bed = good sleep
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice stay - The room I stayed at was well kept. Carpet and sink were abit dirty but not bothersome. The location was very convinient and easy walking distance to the shops
- Glenys (10/5): - What a delightful hotel. A beautiful old pub but with modern facilities and good shared bathrooms. Continental breakfast was provided at a well appointed shared kitchen. The room was a very comfortable although there was some traffic noise from the street below.
- Nigel (10/5): - Recently renovated. Photos on Wotif are out of date. Nick, who attended to me, was very friendly and helpful.
- Angellice (10/5): - Good service and facility.
- Tahra (4/5): - Staff were great. Access was easy. Bar offers no after hours food for patrons and guests. Room stunk like urine. Bed was extremely uncomfortable and hurt my back. Fire alarm went off at 2.30am causing evacuations twice early hours forcing guests to leave. It was unfortunate this happened but it didnt help the situation.
- roderick (6/5): - Accommodation is pub style above the bar and band area. Noise from below reverberates up to rooms. Probably fine on a weekday but was impossible to sleep until the band stopped on a Friday night.
We booked and paid extra for a room that had a private bathroom, only to find the bathroom was just a bathroom sink. The toilets and showers were still shared with other rooms. Luckily there was only one or two other guests so it was almost like a private bathroom, but misrepresenting in the ad.
Lighting on the corridors was poor and we couldn't find the light switch. Another guest found a lamp that she turned on. The ceiling lights not working is dangerous in an emergency and the lamp isn't obvious.
I also managed to lock myself in the shower. The men's shower door locks but does not unlock. So I had to brute force the door open. Lucky I was not a kid or an old-timer as they would have been in trouble. That's also dangerous.
However, staff were nice and accommodating. And the facilities were relatively clean. And it was cheap. And breakfast was provided ( bread, cereal, juice, tea, coffee) so no complaints there.
- Vic (10/5): - Extremely happy with my 12 nights stay. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. In house restaurant served fantastic food at good prices.
Was a great place to have as a base for going around the region. Highly recommend 5 stars
- Judi (10/5): - I liked the old fashion hospitality and the decor with its lead light window. The dining room offered tasty and reasonably priced meals.
The rooms were adequate, but being an old building the walls were thin and sounds travelled.
- Keith (8/5): - My stay was very enjoyable except for the poeple walking in the corridor in the middle of the night that woke me up.
- Kirby (10/5): - Lovely rooms & very clean amenities
- Ida-Skye (10/5): - Clean rooms with good access to central Maitland shops and restaurants. The staff are delightful and the bistro food is tasty and well portioned.
