- Alexandru (1/5): nasty - Nothing! everything
- Hossam (5/5): Passable - The location is accepted. Can be considered as near to Beyazit but with very steep ramp. The staff are good and trying to facilitate the client needs. The rooms are tiny. I've reserved 3 rooms at the same time to accomodate my family. Only one air condition is working and the other two are wrecked. The beds are broken and not comfiortable. One room has a broken door of balakony.
- Mohamad (3/5): Poor -
- Alisher (8/5): Very good - the most what I liked in this Hotel is Staff ! very king and helpful . pls change pillow and trash bin in 503 room. And pls fix the door of shower , otherwise some guest will flood the room .)
- Khalaiarasan (3/5): Poor - N/A Very bad experience.... Can see baby cockroach moving around..Floor not clean..Bathroom not clean..
- Sevim (2/5): - Sehr schmutzig schrecklich
- Veloury (2/5): - Small place.
- 346mostafak (2/5): Very big scam …… - How can a place so awful be a part of such a beautiful city? As soon as we pulled up outside and looked at the dirty, hotel curtains hanging like rags behind the stinking glass of the rotting windows we should have turned and run.
-It’s impossible to reach the hotel by a vehicle , so except walking 10 mins to reach it from the main road , which a showstopper for me and of you you agree with me don’t bother counting this review .
Hotel area is not safe for tourists at all ( don’t wake alone after 8.00 in the evening
Only 2 staff are working in the hotel including the receptionist & non of them letterly understands or speak English .
Poor breakfast & full of bugs it’s better if they don’t serve it , they will prepare & put on tables for guest for 4 hours without any covering.
- The lock housing was exposed meaning it wasn’t difficult to break into our room & I discovered that all keys opens any rooms .
- No safety deposit boxes in rooms.
- Hot water constantly running out.
- No ventilation in bathroom (No window or extractor fan) leaving the bathroom misty after taking a shower and leaving it smelly after using the loo.
- Beds were extremely uncomfortable .
- Pillows were solid hurting your neck when you slept.
- Room was dust central, dust had settled everywhere and even after us wiping it off with some baby wipes it would re settle. Under the bed was filthy with dirt and dust looked like it had been forgotten about by the cleaner.
- Bed sheets were filled with dust when we asked the receptionist if we could have them changed he replied "well the cleaner has finished whos going to do it?"
Zero customer service skills & off course no refund policy ( Expected )
I could go on but im not going to waste any more time. I have honestly never been anywhere and met such rude two faced staff , However if you are more the adventurous type, care about cleanliness, like to eat out and explore the island without feeling your being monitored DO NOT STAY in this place .
- Ummbillal (2/5): Ms - Worst ever hotel!!!
Disgusting!
Dont get clean towel or bedding. Broken tiles everywhere. No shower curtain. Shaky toilet seat. Dirty.
Breakfast was cold. Poor service. Rude staff. Poor wi fi.
There was nothing good about this hotel. I paid through teletext. Never ever again. Paid extra for my last 2 nights at another hotel.
I would never recommend it.
- jjiinnnniiee (2/5): Horrible experience! - Not friendly staff when trying to communicate, rooms very disgusting with smell of urine and mold. It’s also available for renting per hour...which says it all. I would recommend you to NOT book at this hotel. We ended up in a dark valley instead of in the hotel we booked.
- MuhammadZamir (2/5): Fraud Hotel Avoids at all Costs - This is a total Fraud Hotel.
Following are the important points:-
(a) The Hotel Booking was done in Ottoman Time Hotel while the room was provided in Erol Tas Café which was not even hotel.
(b) The offered accommodation (Eros Tas Café) was located 2.0 km from the reserved accommodation (Ottoman Time Hotel).
(c) The suit was booked, which was shown fully furnished, neat and cleaned IN BOOKING.COM WEBSITE, while the offered suit was in shabby condition with broken light covers, No TV, smelly room, skin irritating bed sheets.
(d) The Hotel Even did not had an elevator
(e)bedside table provided.
This table had a cover sheet and a loose mirror resting on wall.
(Too Dangerous for kids)
Such arrangement is not seen even on country roadside hotels.
(f)Floor with congealed dirt, it seemed floor not cleaned for many weeks
I recommend not to waste your money on this FRAUD HOTEL.
- Hasan (2/5): - Resimlere aldanmayin. Başka otelin resmi. Resimdeki ki oteli sorduğum da. Eski isminiz diyorlar. Asansör sürekli lağım kokuyor. Resimdeki otelde kalmak istiyorum dedim. Yer yok dendi ve çıkışa yapabilirsiniz dendi. ukala konuşma yapıldı
- Verified traveler (10/5): - it was a v pleasant stay & the staff is very co-operative. My request for early check in was granted & it was a v nice experience.
- Muna (2/5): Horrible hotel - When we arrived to the hotel the staff told is that we don’t have reservation and no money back when we argue than they found my name on the computer they took us to another place outside the hotel which was in a bad condition hard to breath and toilet smells soooo bad no lift it was absolutely disgusting experience will never recommend it to anyone at all
- 180zahrae (2/5): Avoid at all costs! - Staying in this hotel was the worst experience of my life! The photos do not reflect the actual hotel at all. They mix and match photos of different rooms and put it to appear as if its all the same room. We stayed in the apartment 100m or so away from the main hotel. When we first arrived we thought we were getting a 2 bedroom apartment with 3 double beds. When we arrived they told us they don’t have that kind of room but they can get us a different layout or go to their sister hotel. We agreed because he showed us pictures that looked fine (again, very misleading). When we went to the hotel it was on top of a cafe that was full of men playing cards and smoking hookah, nothing like the atmosphere we were comfortable with. We went up to the room and none of the beds had blankets and the bathroom door didn’t close. The entire building was shaking because of an engine running near by, it was terrible because you could see cracks in the wall. When we looked on the outside we realized the building was held together with some metal boards that were hammered all over the place. The place looked like it was falling apart and definitely not worth 100$ a night. The manager sent us there expecting to get the same amount of money. We called the owner and he sent us to the apartment beside the hotel where we ended up staying. Yes, this place was somewhat renovated but none of the beds had blankets, the bathroom had no shower curtain or door so right when you have a shower the bathroom is soaked and it didn’t dry up for the 3 days we were there. We wanted to meet up with the manager to arrange a refund of some sort but he kept avoiding us. He apparently stays in the office all the time to meet guests but he didn’t show up the entire time. He would tell us he was on his way then he never came. They went and bought a new front desk and couldn’t be bothered to put a kettle in the rooms.
If you for some reason end up having to stay at this hotel beware- if you are not physically 100% it will be impossible. The stairs are extremely dangerous and steep with no railing throughout most of it. My father has heart problems and going up the stairs was a nightmare and they don’t tell you this information before hand.
There are no blankets and if you want towels or toilet paper you have to ask before hand they won’t just give it to you.
The breakfast is not worth the money at all. You get what’s on the plate and 2 pieces of bread to eat it with. The lady working there is not helpful at all. She just sits and plays music on her phone and gets annoyed when you ask for more bread or tea. You’re better off buying a sandwich from the bakeries near the hotel t at-least have enough energy to go about your day.
The hotel is also quite a long way from Sultanahmet. It’s a 15min uphill walk to the Main Street then you still need to walk quite a bit to get to the main Sultanahmet square.
Finally, the first day we were there there was a huge fire 2 buildings down which was terrifying because it could have so easily been us. The electricity went off twice showing how bad the wiring is and it could easily catch fire. Again, the stairs are not equipped for a fast escape so you really need to be careful.
We ended up leaving the hotel 3 days earlier than we expected because it was too overwhelming. The owner avoided us just so he couldn’t give us a refund. I honestly feel bad for the people that work for him because they are nice guys and it’s too bad they have to work for a man like that.
- Mahboobeh (10/5): Turkish warmth 100% in the heart of Istanbul - It had been a while since I had traveled on my own and from the moment I stepped into the Historial Hotel (now called Ottoman Hotel), I felt right at home. It is located in very convenient and central street in Sultanahmet (the historical heart of Istanbul) and it has a nice mix of locals and tourists alike. The rooms are quaint and if you grab a double room, you get a little balcony where you can witness all the wonderful street activity or have the sun splash & warm your face in the morning. The roof is equipped with an amazing terrace where you can see this magnificent city in full and hear the beautiful Azan call to prayer throughout the day, it's a very spiritual experience. Besides the great logistics of the hotel, the staff is what gives this place authenticity and heart. They are warm, welcoming, and generous. They offer their hearts and open your mind to all the possibilities of this beautiful Middle Eastern / European culture and really share the best of what they have to offer. I felt like I was at home with Sevim, Engin, Saadiq, and Ibrahim - we sat together, we laughed together, we learned from one another, and they reminded me of all the beauty that there is in the Middle East and its people - a region with troubles, but with people who have deep hearts and wise words. Stay here and you'll have found a home and a family in Istanbul, I know I did :-). I left Istanbul full of life and love, thank you.
- Shaurin (8/5): Very helpful and heart of old Town!! - Very helpful staff and heart of old Town!!
- 695rohitk (4/5): Avoid if possible. - Historial hotel is cheap and near to some of the attractions in Istanbul but avoid it if possible. It is probably family owned which makes it sad to write a bad review but my stay here was way below average. It felt like the owners gave up on trying to satisfy the customers believing the money would come in no matter what. The hosts are friendly and the breakfast was good enough but i was led to a room in a different building owned by the hotel. I booked a room for 6 which was not available when i got there and we had to stay in 2 different dirty rooms. The bathroom pipe was leaking, the water heater had a coat of yellowish oil on top making it unusable and the room looked like somebody just moved out of it but hastily made the bed before they left. Even the sheets was less than clean.
- dzidziunia18 (2/5): Don't go - More hostel then hotel. Very small room. Really small even for one person really hard to stay in. Lighting very bad . Bed was ok. Nice and clean. No towels changes, no cleaners around for all stay. Bathroom not bad but also very bad lightening. Breakfast was ok nothink special , ready on a plate, not a buffet one. No milk for coffee !! Only powder one put me off. Nice view from dining room that's all. Plus no lift, u have to climbe all the way up ! Witch is so hard on a small dark stairs . Reception and staff was nice and friendly . But all hotel should be call hotel really. Wouldn't be back again. Improvements required.
- Cicia0 (4/5): Cheap and central are the only advantages - We booked this hotel as travelling on a low budget to be able to stay in Turkey a bit longer. The hotel is close to the centre, but it's in a quite dodgy, noisy and dirty neighborhood. Going back to it after sightseeing in the evening was pretty worrying to say the least, a lot of dark alleys to cross.
The pictures do not reflect the hotel standard at all. We booked a room which apparently would be ready very late, and were offered a little apartment a few minutes away from the main building, with 3 small rooms and a bathroom. It seemed great at first, but the wifi didn't work half of the time, the bathroom got floaded every single time we had a shower, the entrance and one of the room got floaded too for other reasons (I guess the entire pipes system was very poorly made), resulting in a lot of humidity in the little flat, which made it quite hard to fall asleep at night. The noise from the street wasn't helping either.
The beds were quite comfortable, but the chenille head boards and bed structures are not the most hygienical choice. I found it pretty disturbing. Great choice if you want to catch some germs! I believe a hotel should be built with surfaces that can be actually cleaned properly.
The lift - which was actually the selling point of this hotel compared to other that looked much nicer on pictures - was out of service and we had NO notice at all until we got there with a 30kg suitcase. We got help to carry it on the top floors, but it was truly a pain having to climb to the 6th floor of the main building on dark stairs (right, the automatic lights don't really work) to get our breakfast every morning. It shouldn't really be that exhausting! We were too tired to look for another hotel, but I it was really annoying and - if travelling with my mum or a lighter suitcase - I would have surely asked for a refund and moved somewhere else. What if you get an elder person or someone with mobility issues? You CANNOT advertise you have a lift if you're doing works on it, that's totally unfair. We spent as little time in the hotel as we could, it was very gloomy.
The breakfast was ok and the female staff of the hotel lovely and helpful. However, the communal toilet was filthy, same for the kitchen's floor which looked as it hadn't been mopped or hoovered in ages. I really struggled to eat my breakfast prepared in such a dirty environment, and I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, but the hotel was in bad conditions: the lift wasn’t working (my suitcase weighted close to 30 kg) and every morning we had to climb up 5 flights of narrow stairs (mostly in the dark) to reach the breakfast room. The boiler in our flat was leaking and there was a puddle in one of the rooms.
- toyr293 (10/5): Saved my life! - Hi
The owner of this hotel is the nicest guy you ever meet in turkey. Hes very friendly. Very helpful. He is always offering his help. Stayed twice in this hotel. I wouls definitely recommend it. Bendrimia.
- travelriaz961 (2/5): Do not trust, dodgy hotel - The advertisement pictures are lies, the actual hotel is absolutely shocking and they put you in different areas of the kumkapi district rude staff. Absolutely sdisgusting cleaning records, not worth half the money paid do not book whatever you do. They offer u other rooms talking about story of how Istanbul is flooded no electricity and therefore can't put u in the good rooms. DO NOT BOOK. WHATEVER YOU DO.
- jean khalil (2/5): Bad choice ! - Water went off every night on a daily basis!!!!!! no cleaning service as should be ! And i did reserve with breakfast everything said so but the people at the hotel decided that im not allowed for breakfast unless i pay for it !!!!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): first of all its not a hotel not even a motel - its a private property they tried to be named a hotel but it is not they need a lot of improvements.
- Berhan (8/5): Great hotel at shockingly cheap price - I enjoyed my staf at Historial. For a 2-star hotel the hotel was a real value for money. Free wifi was excellent, TV, shower, great breakfast and excellent location -just 5 minutes to Grand Bazaar. The staf was excellent and very friendly.
- Micke (8/5): Vanhaa kaupunkia - Pieni hotelli vanhassa kaupungin osassa.
- Bill (4/5): Good place to stay for the price but... - Good place to stay for the price but rooms were a bit small, and at breakfast we would have liked a wider variety of foods. Beautiful view from the terrace all the same
- manzoor (10/5): location is convenient close to sight seeing
plac - Location is excellent for those tourists who like walking distaces for more attractive places.A lot of amenites are available
very close to hotel. staff is very disciplene. price is very reasonable. Very peacefull. Owner have good control over

- Dr (6/5): Not a bad hotel for its price - Area is nice, staff barely speak english, that was prohibitive , overall satisfactory stay
Man får meget for pengene her. Kan kun stærkt anbefales.
- strawberrylemoncake (2/5): Awful hotel - Hotel is close to the centre of town (about 20 minutes) but it's in a poor and dirty neighborhood.
We were in a deluxe suite that meant a small apartment that had 2 rooms and a bathroom. Sounds pretty good, right? Wrong. Bathroom and one of the rooms had the outside temperature, and since it was -1 outside, it was impossible to sleep in the other room. So basically we could only use one small room which was also pretty cold. "Kitchen" part of the room had a fridge and a kettle. The walls and windowsills were moldy and one of the windows and the floor were broken. Rooms were dirty. Whoever was supposed to clean our rooms only took money and for some reason also kept taking away our towels and toilet paper without bringing any back. TV didn't work, WIFI was really weak. For breakfast we had to go to the main building. Also there was no variety in the food: same bread and toppings every day with instant coffee or tea. Not worth the money we paid for it. Hotel staff was not friendly. They were annoyed when we asked for more toilet paper and when we complained about our room, they only said "No problem" and didn't do anything. We spent as little time in the hotel as we could.
If you just want a bed and breakfast, then it's an okay place. If you're looking for a hotel, then avoid Historial.
- Gerrit (8/5): Leuk hotel in volksbuurt.
- pulipintyo (6/5): I came to love it at the end :-) - When I first saw our room I felt really disappointed. It was absolutely different from what I excepted and saw on pictures... But I have to tell you that I get used to it, and moreover it was relaxing to arrive there after a long day spending with sightseeing. Location is very good, air condition was working - big advantage - and I found breakfast also very interesting in a good way.
I think if you prefer low-budget trips or you are at first time in Istanbul (when you focus on visiting everything and spend not too much time in your hotel room) - for those people Historial will be a good choice. We enjoyed our stay there in total!
- Jawwad (4/5): Disappointing hotel. - Bad:
No Lift or elevator in the Apartments
Lift starts from the first floor in the main hotel. which is too small for wheel chair.
Hotel is not suitable for Disable persons.
Hotel staff is poor in English.
Hotel has different buildings. No telephone or proper service in other than main building. No lift in other than main building.
Cleaning and room services are poor.
You will not get the rooms you actually booked.
Standard rooms are too small. If you put your laguage - no space to move around. However hotel apartment rooms are bigger.
Good:
wifi is good
I booked the two bed room apartment for 9 nights and did full payment by credit card before reaching to hotel but our apartment was given to some one else. The hotel manager promised that the next day he will provide the my booking 2 bed room apartment but next day he was showing me other family single room apartments. Then I warned him that if he did not provide me my 2 bed room apartment i will call the police as I had already did full payment for 9 nights. After this threat He made people stayed in my booked 2 bed room apartment to vacate the room and I got my room. First day he provided 2 separte rooms - one of the room AC was not working and he provided us with a fan. I had to open the window to make the room cooler and at night I found a spider on my bed. 2nd day I shifted to my 2 bed room apartment. The cleanliness and room service was poor . Despite notices they cleaned the room on alternate days.
- Zayyat (10/5): Comparing to value of money excellent - you have to used to see hotels in this area unclean before you stay don't tolerate they will clean and take care of you.
The owner is not tolerant with any mistake which is very good
Room amenities are modern and new
Sometimes they put singles with families where noisy and disturb till midnight
Overall very good comparing to value of money
- Suresh (2/5): 0 Star - We did not enjoy stay at this hotel. There is no elevator in building, Water leaking in bathroom T.V. was not working Bed not comfortable.
- Marwan386 (6/5): An OK hotel; - The hotel is relatively ok if you're on a low-budget trip, there had been some material damages in the shower at my room (at that time), which wasn't really nice, doors are made from glass, so you'd feel invaded if you traveled in group, and reserved an open room;
But aside from that, the hotel position gives you close access to the most known historical monuments / museums / restaurants in the very centre of Istanbul;
The staff working there were very nice and helpful, which left a good impression in me anyway :) .
- Verified traveler (6/5): voyage istanbul - Hôtel assez bien situé des monuments même à pied.
Bon accueil
- Zayyat (10/5): I would give it 5 stars - Very very good in everything comparing to value of paid money
- Chewie1960 (2/5): Worst hotel I've ever stayed in - This hotel is down a very steep hill in a rundown part of town. When I finally git there I was informed there was a technical problem (i.e. they were overbooked - reading other reviews, this happens all the time) and that they would put me up in a room further down the hill and around the corner. Although this room was big it was basic and there was a terrible smell coming from the bathroom, there was no kettle. I woke up after my first night covered in a rash - I've since read that this happened to another reviewer. You also have to walk back to the main hotel for breakfast which is meagre. There was a TV in the room but it didn't work. On my 3rd I told staff I didn't like the room, they said a room in the main hotel had become available. This new room was tiny, a single bed taking up most of the space. It is en-suite but this leaves a lot to be desired and, once again, there is a pungent smell coming from the bathroom. Oh, and the wall mounted toilet is actually falling off the wall, each time I sat on it it fell closer to the floor (I weigh 70 kilos, if a heavier person sat on it I'm sure it would hit the floor). There was a big hole in the wall above the toilet pan. There was a TV that didn't work in this room too. Again, no kettle for making tea/coffee. The room was next to the lift shaft so you can hear the rumble of the lift every time someone uses it, I bought some earplugs so that I could sleep. You also in the commotion coming from the breakfast room early every morning in this top floor room. Adding to this you had to ascend the steep hill everyday to go anywhere. Avoid.
- jdgsan (10/5): Nothing better - Mulham, makes you feel like at home! Great tea time at nights and nice chats about life. Breakfast with that view is incredible. Location is perfect!!! Excelent and very comfortable bed. We left our hearts there!!!!!
Plus: Recommendations for knowing the city... Awesome!!!!!!!
- Mariana (8/5): By no means a 4 star hotel, but.. - Fantastic service from the staff. Its a bit difficult to understand most of them since they have limited English but you get by. The Hotel is slightly unfinished (rooftop was getting re-tiled and some of the tile in the bathroom was broken. Asides from that its a great hotel to stay at. great location about 10mins away from Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, and other top attractinos in Istanbul. Only 5mins away from the Tram station at the Grand Baazar. Great place!
- valkatief (2/5): Disappointed - Decided to stay here judging by reviews. Reserved a room here on booking.com.
First of all our friend's GPS could not find a hotel location so we had to ask ppl where it was. The street at night time was without lights so it was really scary. When at last we found this hotel the main door was locked. When the guy came out he took us on the other side of the street. The room he showed us was not the room we saw on booking.com. We said we r not going to stay here cuz the room was not ready for living at all (the renovation was still going on) plus the area seemed to be really creepy. We asked for money back. The guy called the owner, and we had to wait for the him for like 20 min. The owner offered us to stay somewhere else in a deluxe room just for 1 night and on the other day he promised to give us the room we booked. We said NO cuz we were already completely unsatisfied with the service.
So if you decide to stay in this hotel make sure you gonna live in the hotel itself and not somewhere in the nearby creepy street.
- gudrun-marion (6/5): A decent enough place with pleasant staff. - I really enjoyed the staff at this hotel. They were extremely helpful and kind. It was also cheap for Istanbul which for some reason has hotels on the expensive side. The location is not as close to the tourist district as I had wanted but none the less in the older part of town. This explains why it was cheaper.
- AlexSu70 (6/5): Good value for money - Historial hotel is a little hotel located in a popular area not far from Sultanahmet. The location is ok (no safety problems), but it looks different compared with the touristic areas of Sultanahmet/ Sirkeci.
The staff is very friendly and supportive, however it will not be very easy to communicate with them because of their lack of English skills. The rooms of the hotel are very small but everything is new and clean. The view from the last level it's very nice (you can see the sea). That's was about the hotel, but the owners have severals apartments in the area.
Being with my family, we stayed in a brand new building having 30 sq meters rooms. Clean room, new furniture, AC, Wifi, fridge, a table with some plates etc. No cleaning services/ changing towels, but for the low price we payed it is understandable. We visited several rooms there and the best one is that one of the last floor offering a private balcony a terrace with seaview.
Last point, very interesting if you came by car: there are no parking spaces in the area, you have to put the car in a Autopark and the hotel will help you this at a correct price.
Conclusion: for the price you pay you get a good place to stay.
- Patrick (6/5): Safe, clean and inexpensive - This hotel is small and friendly. The manager is always willing to help and nothing was a problem for him to try and get done or so for you. His son and the other hotel staffs were great to.you usually get daily breakfast, same thing every day. It's bread, jelly, boil egg, tomatoes, black olives and cucumber. Breakfast is served from 0800-1000 am on the 5th floor. Nice view overlooking the sea port. The hotel is located in the back streets about 4 stops before Blue Mosque stop. There's a Burger King restaurant at that stop where you get off...The hotel location is safe as I walked around late at night. There's always tourist walking around looking for deals, so I wolud say it relative it's safe at night...Lots to eat around the hotel from cheap to expensive food... It's about 45mins by subway/tram ride where you will transfer at the Kabaka point. The cost is 3.00 Turkish Lira. You will have to purchase the card at the metro station inside the airport.. It's best to buy a 20.00 TL total. In Istanbul the traffic is ridiculous crazy and busy. In rush hour nothing seams to move so give yourself enough time to go anywhere and especially back to the airport as you can miss your flight due to traffic. Taxis from the IST airports cost approx 55.00 Turkish Lira to the Blue Mosque area and could be more if you are stuck in traffic.. Take the subway and tram if you can help it... Yes I will deffinatly recommend this hotel.
- ljh2356 (8/5): Amazing Family Hotel - Close enough to all the main attractions and amazing local restaurants, I'd definitely recommend Historial to anyone looking for a cheap base in Istanbul. The internet is free and very fast, the beds are incredibly comfortable and the staff are lovely. Admittedly the showers aren't great, but you can't expect too much. The staff are always offering free tea and coffee and there's a great view from the terrace where breakfast is served.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel close to the Beyazit tram station - The hotel is situated close to the Beyazit tram station, two stations away from the popular Sultanamet area. The room (single) was in good shape, I think they just redecorated the bathroom and everything seemed to be new. I was a bit unlucky as the toilet was constantly running (the staff tried to repair it but not within the time of my staying). There is TV (not too many channels in English), good storage spaces for a single person, and a fridge (might come in handy on hot nights). Also AC, which worked flawlessly during my staying at the hotel.
The staff is very friendly! Not all of them speak English, but nevertheless they are extremely friendly, and most of the times we managed to communicated quite well.
For a 2 star hotel and the price I paid for, there's little to complain about.
- Derek (8/5): GOOD VALUE - This Hotel ticks all the boxes when looking for a good value for money stay.A no frills Hotel with friendly and helpful staff with all the essentials you need for a short break.
- Graham (2/5): Historial Hotel Istanbul - Room was booked in advance, but was told on arrival that no room was available and sent to another hotel. Avoid this hotel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Relatively close to the main points of interest - When I arrived was no room, though I had reservation; I had to wait 3 hours and then I was placed to apartment two blocks away. It was noisy and I could not close the window becase there was no frame.. Just hole in the wall..
Next day I asked to transfer me to hotel and stayed in hotel the rest of the time. The owner offered me to book Turkish bath next to the hotel, telling that it is cheaper than the rest of the bath houses, and charged me $50 ( 100 Turkish leers)
As I found in the bath house price was 70 leers $35) so this man had $15 for the reservation, and the whole experience in the bath was not that great, the whole procedure lasted 1 hour, and it was not what my friends described when they visited other places .
The personal was very friendly and helpful though and the owner was friendly. I wish it would be more professionally done.
- Like explorinng (6/5): Good staff with excellent location - Easy access to the historical heart of Istanbul, Gramd Bazaar, TopkPi Palace, excellent transport system within a reasonable walk, many restaurents a stone throw away.
Well priced.
- 556karinb (10/5): Great hotel! - It is a great hotel near all the important sights of Istanbul. It is not hard to find the
hotel, best way is to use a tram and take the exit Beyazit(Gran Bazar). The rooms are
clean and cozy. Realy comfortable bads and TV with many programs. AC in the rooms for
free and WIFI in all the rooms, that is a BIG plus for me ;) You can get a good good night
sleep, the traffic and noise is not so big. The breakfast is on the terace with a amazing view
of Istanbul. Good breakfast with veggies, eggs and nice bread. And cofee or tea.
Nice stuff willing to help.
AND is not in a sceary area, is wher the locals live and work. But are all so nice and helpful, when I was searching for the hotel so many people aproch and helped us!
I would recomand this hotel and definitely coming back.
- rev.co10 (2/5): Room wasn't available - The room wasn't available and we were sent to another place
- Abdulrahman (8/5): Thank You!!! - Amazing hotel and staff. Especially Hasan who was very helpful at all times and even providing us helpful ideas on different areas to see. Thank you and looking forward to staying at Historial when we come back to Istanbul.
- andy (8/5): Great Staff and location - Near Gran Bazar and Restaurants
the Staff is friendly and Helpful
- Husk2014 (10/5): Excellent and very very nice staff!! - We are a young (24, students) couple travelling, we got a double room, it is true that they are not big but just about what you need! The room and the bathroom are fully and newly furnished. Quality mattress and cleanliness. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, always trying to help and offering coffee and tea, they give you tips for everything that you could ask for your day and always wishing to have a conversation with you. Really, very nice people there. It is not a luxury hotel but I can't complain about anything (although the glazed doors for the bathroom wasn't very clever, lol, but the door was facing the corridor so you could get privacy anyway), we found everything to be better than expected as we got it at almost hostel price, huge value for money!
The location is very good, 10 minutes from grand bazaar and 15 to haga sofia, blue mosque and all the famous attractions. It is in a commerce district with lots of shoe makers, I read some reviews complaining about frightening area (really not, just non-touristic, local people living and working there) and even about that is located in a steep street (I just laughed at that one).
Totally recommended!
- Mina (10/5): Hotel location was close to the Bazaar - Staff were very friendly and helpful. The surroundings were very relaxing. Went to the Bazaar every day for shopping. Breakfast in the hotel was very good and service was excellent. Rooms were clean and made up every day.
- Anthony (10/5): Excellent Cultural Learning - I am glad I did not rely on the reviews before booking this hotel and I was pleasantly surprised. I had the best time I have had in a long time for someone who travels a lot and I will gladly recommend this hotel to everyone because of the personal touch and homely feeling of this hotel. The friendly staff with the manager (Hassan & Murat and the lady who does house keeping and cooking) who makes you feel welcome from the very first moment and has a lot of stories to tell. The staff are willing to do everything for you and nothing is too much to ask. Staff will happily spend time with you in the lounge till the wee hours of the morning and take care of you like you are family. I felt like I was at home away from home. Lots of earlier reviews said rooms were small but for a boutique hotel the rooms are more than adequate and are in excellent condition. When they have time they will accompany you to shop and show you good bargains and interesting places etc. They offer baggage storage as well. A guest fell ill and staff took care of the guest like family or old friend. Where can you get that in a big chain or run of the mill hotel? Not possible. The best hotel and atmosphere I have seen in a very very long time and a good impression/ambassadors for Turkey as I will repeatedly go back and stay there every time I am in the country.
