- Liora (9/5): Great location, clean hotel and friendly staff. Would highly recommend and will stay again! - Great location, spacious room, friendly staff, amazing rooftop bar Walls can be thin and we were woken up by people returning from a night out being extremely loud
- Guillermo (5/5): -
- Michael (8/5): Overall excellent stay - Comfortable good location Modern hotel
- Miroslaw (8/5): All was really good. The neighborhood was quiet for our surprise. The room itself was nice big. Had some character diffe - Nothing in particular. All was pretty good The noise of heating/air conditioning.
- Tara (5/5): ok - Room and location Bar could have been open upstairs. Staff could have been more welcoming.
- Mark (9/5): Superb hotel in a superb location. - Everything. Refurbishment of Rooftop bar wasn’t finished in time

- Todd V (10/5): Excellent hotel and excellent value for NYC - Room was large. Nice extras: great shower, slippers, water, Prosecco, shampoo and conditioner and skin cream and ear plugs. Friendly staff. Free quality coffee The room could have been one foot longer in front of the bed

- hoffmann (5/5): Too expensive - Fast checking in and convenience location wise Not worth the money. Not super clean, outdated.
- John (10/5): Comfortable - Great hotel, very clean and comfortable. Would recommend.
- AussiesTCP3 (8/5): Good but not great- will wait for the rooftop to reopen before returning! - Good location for SoHo, Greenwich Village. Small but clean rooms and the higher levels have great views across the river to Jersey and we witnessed some amazing sunsets. We'd hoped each day we'd be sitting at the rooftop bar to watch those sunsets, but the rooftop is currently closed for renovations which we were not forewarned of. My only other gripe was that all the pillows are very high profile and as there were not other options after the first night with a crick in my neck and very little sleep I slept the next 8 nights using my puffer coat as a pillow. Have to add too that the coffee downstairs each morning was excellent and the customer service was always friendly.
- V8620BVlaurac (10/5): Great hotel in Soho - We stayed overnight at Hotel Hugo as part of a birthday celebration in Soho for our daughter. The Hotel was very clean and staff were friendly. The room was a nice size, especially for a city hotel room. The rooftop bar was being renovated so that was a bummer but we did enjoy a cocktail outside where they had tables and chairs set up on the street. We ate breakfast at the hotel and while it was good, my over easy eggs were definitely a bit overcooked. Overall experience though was positive and would stay again.
- brycegodwin (10/5): New York Graduation Trip for my girls! - great location, safe, great little coffee shop/bar in the basement. Wish the rooftop bar had been open or at least mentioned it was closed. Service was great and everything was exceptional. Staff was amazing, Nick was always smiling when you walked in
- Anne (6/5): -
- Jessica (9/5): -
- Cabusao (10/5): - Close to Soho, close to everything tbh The water in the shower is not warm
- Andres (10/5): Excelente hotel -
- christianaD4526OZ (8/5): Great Stay, Just Watch Out for Hidden Fees - Really enjoyed my stay overall. The room was great, big comfortable bed, and the location could not have been better. Free coffee in the morning was a nice touch and honestly, a big plus for me.
The only real issue was getting hit with a destination/hotel association fee at check-in that was never mentioned when I booked. About $70 a day, so it adds up fast. When you have already paid in full upfront, that kind of surprise just feels shady. Transparency matters to travelers and consumers, and this fell short of that. Just something to be aware of going in. I would still recommend, but I hope they are more transparent with future guests
- Memissa (8/5): Good stay in Hugo Hotel ! - We had a pleasant stay overall. The hotel is well located in Hudson and the experience was generally enjoyable.
However, we did encounter a few issues at the beginning: the rooftop was inaccessible due to ongoing construction work, we really appreciated how professionally and quickly the situation was handled. Their responsiveness and customer care truly made a difference.
Thanks to this, we still had a very good experience and felt well taken care of.
- thes982 (10/5): Great location with a view! - This hidden treasure is located just west of SOHO, allowing for you to stay near all the great shopping and restaurant while also having a peaceful location by the Hudson River. There is a nice restaurant in the lobby to get a coffee and bagel in the morning before going out for the day. The hotel lobby has some seating to wait for friends or an uber. And there is a deli right across the street for any type of snack or beverage or, in my case, a charger block for $5!

- Christine (7/5): - Location was fantastic The pillows were too large and hard an made it very difficult to sleep. Also, the heating/cooling system was very loud and made for disruptive sleep. It was not possible to keep the room at a comfortable consistent temperature.
- Michael (10/5): Sexy, Calming and Clean - This place is SEXY ASF and I truly enjoyed it. The lounge, kitchen downstairs made the best BEC and coffee, the art is on point and love the plant set up. It was VERY sexy! I loved everything
- Tianna (9/5): Great location, comfy bed and quiet room. - Bed was comfortable, room was spacious for NYC standards, room was quiet and had a nice view of the river. The shower head was set at an awkward angle and was not adjustable. The shower head was removable, but all of it was set so high as a 5'1 person I could barely reach it.
- Dana (8/5): - Excellent location and a kind staff!
Great coffee shop and the free coffee is great in mornings.
Overall a wonderfull experience There are only venetian shades in the room that don't close completely.
- Gabriele (10/5): -
Literie confortable. Rien

- Lujain (7/5): Fine. Would rather book somewhere else - The location and decoration The staff. They couldn’t care less. When you call them for help they will send someone after the 5th call. No greetings when you arrive at all not even “have a good one”. Especially the receptionists.

- 145geek (10/5): Great stay at Hotel Hugo! - The Hotel staff were very professional, exceptionally friendly and helpful. The Hotel's location was perfect--very close to the Hudson River with stunning views of the city and a quick walk to the subway. The area was very quiet with lots of restaurants within walking distance. The hotel decor was nice. While I didn't have the best view, the room had a very nice bathroom, was comfortable but kind of small.
- 854ebonyt (10/5): A Hidden Gem — Better Late Than Never! - This review is long overdue, but Hotel Hugo gave me such a memorable experience that I couldn't let it go unrecognized. My partner and I decided to spend Christmas in New York City on a bit of a whim — and after years of defaulting to big-box chains like Hilton and Marriott, we took a leap of faith on Hotel Hugo. I'm so glad we did.
From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed. Iceiz at the front desk was an absolute standout. She was at the desk for the majority of our stay and went above and beyond every single time — whether it was giving us spot-on restaurant recommendations or patiently walking us through which trains to take to get exactly where we wanted to go. In an unfamiliar city at the holidays, that kind of personalized, knowledgeable help is truly priceless.
Gustavo was another highlight of the trip. His warm personality made for wonderful conversation, and the coffee he served was genuinely great — exactly what you need on a cold New York City morning before heading out to explore.
If you're considering stepping away from the usual hotel chains for something with more character and heart, Hotel Hugo is the answer. The staff alone make it worth every penny. We'll absolutely be back — and next time, I won't wait so long to leave the review!
- cassaundram2017 (6/5): All systems down - At 3PM, after not getting early check-in, their systems were down delaying our arrival for a business appointment. It's a beautiful hotel, but avoid if you're on a tight turn for a business trip. Time is money!
- Juliana (9/5): Access to SoHo, but quiet and well priced. Excellent! I'll be back. - Is this the quietest hotel room in NY?! Amazing! Tucked away from the hustle but close to everything. I loved the room size and proximity to everything and discovering the water filtration system so I can fill up my water bottle for free: YES. I do like a thicker blanket but I called down and had an extra blanket sent up and that worked fine.

- MikeY599 (4/5): Hotel Hugo was expansive and not aware of $55 facility fee per day - I was assigned a room on the second floor (Room 208). When checking in, I asked if a higher floor was available, but I was told there were no other rooms. Unfortunately, the view from Room 208 is the worst I have experienced in a hotel. I believe Hotel Hugo should consider removing Room 208 from guest use or repurposing it for something else.
I called the front desk and mentioned that we were willing to wait if another room became available because we would prefer to change rooms. However, we were told that no other rooms were available at that time.
Later, I received a text message from Hotel Hugo asking how I was enjoying my stay, and I replied that the room was not satisfactory. In addition, the bathroom tile in Room 208 is broken.
A front desk staff member called me when I returned to the hotel and mentioned that another room might become available the next day. By that time, however, it was already late and we had unpacked our belongings.
Also, I was not aware of the $55 per day facility fee in advance. Which may not be hotel Hugo issue. This may be an Expedia issue.

- X2989ULamirm (10/5): Very good - Briona was very professional and kind I had a great stay, highly recommend this hotel…
- GRG19 (10/5): Lovely boutique hotel in Soho - A fabulous location in Soho within walking distance to a large variety of restaurants and even a Trader Joe's. The rooms have been redone and well appointed. The mattress is soft but comfortable. Staff went out of their way to help when we had a problem with the door lock. Highly recommend this quaint boutique hotel.
- mathilde (8/5): -
- John (10/5): - Great hotel, very clean and comfortable. Would recommend.
- Pelita (8/5): -
- John (8/5): Well priced convenience - Location was very convenient for where I needed to be. It was clean, comfortable bed and good shower and the price was fair. For a one stay there was nothing to complain about - would be good if restaurant opened an hour earlier
- Passport39884646160 (6/5): Not worth money for $900 - The room was over $800 per night, and while the front desk staff were very welcoming and kind, I honestly expected more for the price. I was hoping for a brighter room or at least a decent view, but instead I was placed on the 3rd floor in a very small and dark room.
I did mention that this was my 40th birthday trip, and I wouldn’t have chosen to spend nearly $900 for such a low-level, dark room. If it was $400-$500, it is reasonable to stay here in that lower level.
That said, the coffee from the café on the first floor was amazing, and the location itself was absolutely perfect.
- Ali (8/5): -
- Miguel Carlos (7/5): - The hotel was quite clean, certainly a highlight. The location worked very well for me. It was quite inconvenient that the hotel did not take contactless payments.
The chair, lamp, and desk in the room were quite uncomfortable, not suitable for business travelers.
The shower head was a bit uncomfortable.
- cansu (9/5): Lovely stay in Hugo Hotel - would recommend - bed was a great size, location is nice a quiet, room was a good size, the view was very nice, staff were friendly and helpful - second time we have stayed at Hugo Hotel, both have been nice experiences. Would stay again The coffee machine was a little difficult and couldn't use it in the end. Would have been nice if we could have used it.
- V5028HMrhondag (10/5): When Customer service solves the problem! - I rated my experience a five star for the specific reason that although things did not go very well the first night, they were made right by the excellent customer service and accommodations of the Hugo Hotel. I had been assured that I would have access to distilled water for my breathing machine and it was not there the first night, but the staff went out and searched several drugstores the next day until they found it. I appreciated their diligence. One thing that I have not been able to correct because I can’t seem to find my original email was that my quoted cost was $166.25 per night but when I arrived at the hotel it was $188 per night. The difference of $22 per night for four nights is under $100 and although I do think they should have arranged it, I understand they were not able to do so. It was not enough to make me take off a star! I have stayed here before and I will stay here again! There is a fabulous restaurant just down the street called the Houseman, which I highly recommend.

- Donna (7/5): A good stay, but didn't feel it was a good value for the cost. - The reception is extremely helpful and accommodating. We were permitted to checkin at noon, which was very appreciated. The cafe is nice and the food/drinks were very good. We ate breakfast and lunch there. It is set up more like a n upscale Starbucks; order food drinks at the counter and they will bring it to your table. The hotel is a little off the beaten track and a block from the Westside Highway, but you're within two/three blocks of good restaurants and shopping. The rooms are very small, even for NYC standards. The rooftop bar is much more akin to a club than a lounge atmosphere, with the music being loud like a club and the lighting dark.
- Ethan (4/5): It was an okay stay and I wouldn’t stay here again - The rooms had a nice vibe to it The water pressure was low, the water was not hot enough. The staff seemed inexperienced and the location wasn’t the best.
- Rachel (10/5): -
- Pierre (7/5): -
- William (8/5): It is a really nice place to stay - The help and service from front desk, also the cleanliness of the room. Unfortunately this time, the alarm of the clock was setup too early and unfortunately there’s no button to turn it off. So, it interrupted my sleep.
- Julia (7/5): - Nice bistro
Comfy bed
Good TV
Fridge Roof top bar closed (one of the reasons we chose the hotel)
Room was quite small and view was poor
Shower a bit annoying as had to get soaked in cold water when turning it on and before you could adjust the temperature
- Sanchia (10/5): - Overall it was very clean good location and comfortable bed and room. Staff was friendly could approach guests a bit more in seating area. Our room was freshened up and tidied everyday to same standard. The floor of room was not very clean when arrived but the next day better. maybe hotel was fully booked. But overall as I say very good.
- David (8/5): -
- ashishgQ7001NH (4/5): One and done - Poor / inefficient check-in and check-out experience. The surcharge for and the fact I had drink etc coupons was not explained to me at check-in. And check out was very slow, despite only 1 person ahead of me and it being a weekday morning (the front desk person was very lackadaisical). Not efficient as I was trying to get to work. I gave Hotel Hugo a try since its 3 blocks to my NYC office but doubt I will stay again.
- Vincent (9/5): Great Location close to Subway and many restaurants - Great Location close to many restaurants.
- Francesca (9/5): -
- Hendrikus (7/5): Good but not for next time - Room was good and view over the Hudson nice, especially for NY Rooftop bar is closed and breakfast/food place is really very bad with staff that is not customer friendly and very limited food choice.
- Maarten (8/5): -
- 446dickp (6/5): Not bad but definitely not another time without an open rooftop bar and better breakfast/food arrangement. - Nice hotel, unfortunately rooftop closed, which was one of the main reasons for us to go there and breakfast place service is very bad and food limited.
