Guest Reviews
- Leonardo (8/5): -
- Ella (10/5): It was a great experience - Comfort Not having own campfire
- nancy (9/5): - Good experience. Staff were very nice and helpful. Good coffee and ready @ 5am No food allowed in the tent or room. Doable since it was not raining. Good place for short stay or overnight.
- Julie (8/5): Beautiful, relaxing glamping just outside of glacier national park - Very nice tents, great bed and bathroom. Very nicely decorated. The common areas outside were also great to spend some leisure time. The train and highway were a bit of a bummer when you pay quite a lot of money for a nature based stay.
The disposable packaging at the breakfast/cafe place felt wrong in a nature inspired resort. We don’t feel like it’s that difficult to just use washable, reusable cutlery/cups/plates.
- CATHERINE (4/5): Expensive place to stay by trains all night - Premium tent with private bath was nice , bed comfortable. Fireplace worked ok. But the trains , that come through right by the property was absolutely terrible! My husband said he counted 12 trains blowing horns and coming through all night ., and if it wasn’t the trains it was the semitrailer trucks and loud motor cycles as the property is right off byway coming out of west Glacier. So what was supposed to be a surprise for our trip to GNP was truly a surprise. I would not recommend Glacier Under the stars , especially for the price we paid for 1 night of no sleep. We were offered ear plugs at check in and I guess that should have been a sign. I do not recommend this place .
- Betty (10/5): Fantastic experience! - What a wonderful experience! The staff was very friendly & helpful. They brought our luggage to our tent & picked it up when we were ready to leave. The nightly fire pits were a great way to meet other campers. The S’mores were great. The wood burning stove took the chill off of the morning & I highly recommend the tents with restrooms/showers. The beds & pillows were great.
The office tent was a warm & inviting place & had great coffee & beer options. A little dusty from the dirt roads.
- Ed (10/5): - Staffer Gabriel was welcoming, informed, and helpful in getting us going in a new experience for us. Our tent had a bath, which made the unit self-contained. We adjusted very quickly to a non-hotel setting. We’d eagerly do it again.
- Juli (10/5): - Staff was energetic and so helpful. They were knowledgeable and their enthusiasm was infectious. Evelyn, Lily and Eric provided great service. We highly recommend Under Canvas.
- Jarmo (8/5): - Traveling thru Montana to Canada stay night before go to half day tour glacier park.
- Katharine (8/5): -
- Candyce (10/5): - Friendly staff. We enjoyed the firepits and smores. The tents were so cute and clean.
- Jeremy (10/5): - The tents are great!
- Elena (10/5): GNP Couples Get Away - What an amazing experience! Friendly staff, plenty of activities to enjoy at the campground and located amongst tons of off campground activities. 15 min drive the GNP! Good food and drinks available.
- Chris (10/5): - Very fun. Had a great staff.
- Pam (10/5): - So much fun! Great staff!
- Bradley (10/5): -
- Kori Nicole (10/5): - Very pleased with our stay! This place made our trip! Our tent was beautiful. Staff was amazing. Food was great! Can’t recommend this place enough to stay . Perfectly located for everything we had plan! 12/10 recommend . Whenever we head back to Montana this will be our go to place ! Loved it
- Lynette (10/5): -
- Tori (10/5): - Excellent location as a basecamp for Glacier National Park. Cozy tent cabins and easy to get to.
- Mark (10/5): - Great experience and Gabriel was excellent help with our check in and out. Food was good, entertainment was fun and it’s a comfortable experience. We’ll stay here again!
- jeffrey (10/5): - Great place . Clean and overall good . Only thing not the best was the train at night
- Mina (2/5): - This place was completely misrepresented as a peaceful glamping retreat, but it was actually right next to a busy highway and active train tracks. The constant traffic and trains every 40 minutes made it impossible to sleep or relax. The lack of disclosure shows a serious lack of integrity, and I cannot recommend this experience.
- Myriam (6/5): - The camp itself is beautiful, and the service is great. We really liked our tent, the beds were comfortable, and the life music in the evening was are great. However, the location is terrible. The camp is right next to a major highway, which has a lot of traffic throughout the night. In addition the train goes by and is very loud several times during the night. It’s the main train line from Chicago to the West Coast. We stayed in other Under Canvas locations, which were amazing, but this one is really terrible. It’s a pity, because the concept is wonderful. But we had a very bad sleep, despite our own earplugs. I would truly not recommend staying there for the money, unless you are zero noise sensitive. But it kind of defies the purpose, considering that you want an outdoor experience in nature.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Avoid Under Canvas Glacier - Price point is ridiculous for the horrible linens, service, and atmosphere. Why 'camp' at this location? It is not conducive for sleeping outdoors. The noise from the train horn blaring multiple times, day and night is jarring. It doesn't only wake you from a sound sleep, it's so loud, it stops conversation. Under Canvas provides earplugs, and to be honest when we checked in I wondered why (no mention of the train during check-in). We did not sleep at all that first night. Used the earplugs the second and third. They helped, but did not eliminate the train horn, they eliminated the ambient sounds of nature. Isn't that a benefit of camping in the great outdoors?
At over $500 a night you would expect a higher level of service. When we arrived late at night, the screen zipper did not work, shower toiletries were empty. They fixed the zipper, never refilled toiletries nor did they empty trash or service the tent in any way during a 3 night stay. Towels provided were threadbare, non-absorbent and scratchy. The bed linens were cheap roadside motel quality. At departure, we went to the office to check out, 5 employees were just standing around. No thank you for our stay or apology for the toiletries. Finally, as we left, we stopped by the coffee station. 8am and both coffee urns were empty. 5 employees, 5 feet away doing nothing. Our final moments Under Canvas Glacier were indicative of the entire stay.
- Kelli (10/5): Such a great night in the ‘outdoors’! - I hate the work of camping, but love sleeping outside. This place is perfection. They have thought of every detail to make your stay enjoyable. Tents are super clean and comfy. Everything about our stay was perfect and we will definitely stay again!
- Jennifer (10/5): - We've never done glamping and loved the community atmosphere of staff and other clients! The place is well maintained, you can call or text them anytime (even 3:20am) and they will come pick you up or provide you anything needed. They give free water/coffee/tea, s'mores and live music nightly, and have corn hole. We really enjoyed the enthusiasm of the staff ! At night I was very comfortable, but my husband was very cold in the mid-50s, ha - so not sure I can talk him into glamping again.
BUT Great work of staff and supplies!
- B (8/5): -
- Perez (9/5): Would definitely come back and inspired to go to other Under the Canvas camp grounds in the US. - Close to Glacier National Park, very neat and showers very clean. Good food, fire pits, corn hole, tea and coffee. Helpful at finding things to do outside of camp. Night time train noise which cannot be helped but ear plugs did help the second night of sleep.
- Juleen (10/5): - The only negative is the surrounding highway and train noise. Once that dies down or passes and you fall asleep, it’s perfect. For light sleepers, ear plugs are provided. But staff is the BEST and I would book again.
- Caleb (10/5): Wonderful Glamping Experience - The stay was very enjoyable. It blended nice levels of camping, as well as some of the comforts of home.
- Randy (10/5): August Stay - Everyone was super friendly and helpful and also promoted a very friendly atmosphere among all the campers. Beds and stove kept things warm and cozy and we had one with the shower and bathroom which made it especially convenient. Would recommend the extra cost for these things. We will definitely be back!
- Kenneth (10/5): - Such a great stay! Cozy, clean, charming and just a few minutes from the west gate to Glacier. We had our own private bathroom which was great. The staff was fantastic! Evelyn is a delight and a wealth of knowledge regarding the park, trails and reservation system. The cafe staff was phenomenal and kept us well fueled. The only thing to be aware of is the train noise throughout the night being that it is across the road from a major railway.
- Matthieu (3/5): Be ready not to sleep because of the noise coming from the road and the train - The tent was large and very comfortable. The king size bed was very comfortable. The lunch at the restaurant was not very sophisticated but was good. We are very disappointed by the overall environment. The noise from the road 2 and the train very close to the camp were way too noisy. And the management knows it perfectly because they provide earplugs to the guests and highly recommend their use. But we were in the tent 5, one of the closest to the road and the train and we were not able to sleep during our 3 nights in the camp. And paying $550 per night for this is just unacceptable!! There are about 25 to 30 trains per day, and during the night it can be up to 2 by hour. The cars / trucks on road 2 are 24 hours a day. And each train makes noise between 5 to 13 minutes depending on its size (we start hearing the horn every 10 seconds, then the train itself, then the horn again).
We could have stayed in a camp 1 mile from the location for more than half the price (ok smaller tent and no restroom) and this camp is not as close as the road / train as they are.
- Tomoko (10/5): - nice room
- Carolyn (10/5): - Great music in the evening, camp fires, lovely “tents” and just a very friendly, relaxing vibe.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great beds. Plenty of blankets. Kids had a blast!
- Mateusz (6/5): - This is a great concept and wonderful property. We had a nice time in the tent and enjoyed the onsite facilities, which were clean and contributed to a quiet and chill vibe. The service wasn’t great: the shared bathroom ran out of towels, at checkout the front desk didn’t respond to text questions for hours, and the staff did not pick us up with luggage when we needed to leave so we had to drag it all to the car.
- Holly (10/5): Great stay! - Love under canvas, so close to Glacier National Park entrance! Highly recommend!
- Jay (10/5): - Great experience!
- Melissa Turner (10/5): - The only complaint we have about the entire experience was the noise from the road. It was quite loud until after dark. There is a train too. But the noise from the trucks was a bit loud.
I’d would suggest requesting a tent away from the road.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Memorable trip - Last leg of our trip, we e loved it here. We everyone was great, property was clean. Bags, music and campfires!
Definitely will be back
- Inna (9/5): Clean and beautiful glamping site with great amenities and close to the Glacier park - Very comfortable glamping with super friendly staff and a 24-hr reception The train tracks were pretty close. I sleep with earplugs so that was not an issue but my husband was not sleeping that well because of the train sounds.
- Michael (8/5): - Tents were great. Location easy to get to. Close to the park entrance. Entertainment great. Bathrooms clean.
We loved everything. The only thing that was bad was the highway noise. We stayed at their location in Yellowstone and it was out in the country. It was an amazing. If you stay here get a tent as far from the highway as possible.
- Deanna (10/5): - Loved every minute of visiting this campground!! So beautiful.
- Ryan (10/5): - The facilities were great and better than expected, but what truly set this property apart were the activities, like complimentary s’mores and games. It almost felt like we were kids at summer camp again! A huge plus was how close the location is to Glacier National Park. I would highly recommend this experience to others, and we are already planning to come back someday!
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Jesus (10/5): - It was a grat stay, everyone was super friendly.
- Mandy Jo (10/5): - I’m love it when a stay exceeds my expectations! The tent inside was set up perfectly! Very clean and spacious! Great attention to detail. The bed was amazingly comfortable! Will definitely be back!
- Natasha (10/5): -
- Richard (8/5): Great tent, atmosphere and brilliant food in restaurant - Lovely staff. Great tent, atmosphere and brilliant food in restaurant Very noisy trains all night. Wear Earplugs
- Kristina (10/5): - We loved it. It's a perfect alternative to camping. The space was beautiful, the cafe was delicious, all around wonderful.
- Barbara (10/5): - Second time using Under Canvas for visit a National Park and will do so again! The Glacier site is so close to the Park entrance and the tents, bathrooms are so clean. Staff is helpful and friendly. Embers Cafe has amazing food. The only thing that surprised me was the traffic noise. The site is right off HWY 2 so you hear cars/trucks late into the night. Earplugs are provide for train noise, but that didn't bother me.
- Cora (8/5): - The pros; great location because it was just a few minutes outside of glacier national Park. We really wanted to stay in the park but could not get a reservation, but this location worked out well. The staff were very friendly and helpful and seem to like their jobs. The inside of the tent was well appointed and comfortable.
Cons: it’s located right off the highway and so you could hear highway noise. Not what I expected for an outdoor experience. I also thought it was a little pricey, but maybe I’m naïve.
- Garrett (10/5): - Every
- Maura (10/5): - We loved staying at Under the Canvas. It was our first time glamping and it won’t be our last! The tent was homey and clean. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked. The wood stove was a great touch.
- Erik (10/5): - Was a great stay! The staff was great, grounds were well maintained including the shared restrooms and showers.
Great option for us flying in to get a bit of the camping vibe without packing all of the "stuff"!
- Kristen (10/5): - Very unique and a great experience.
- Mikel (10/5): Wonderful - Wonderful
- Justin (10/5): - If you want to experience what it's like to spend the night in an old fashioned canvas wall tent heated with a wood stove, this is the experience for you! I spent 3 nights here with my partner at Glacier, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The tent was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the bed was wonderfully warm with many layers of soft blankets. It does cost more than a budget hotel, but its a very unique and memorable experience.
- Nancy (8/5): It was fun but overpriced. - The staff was super nice and the idea of ‘camping’ was fun. The tent was really cute and comfortable. The complex was too close to a main highway and the tents were too close together.
- Brenda (10/5): Outstanding - A fabulous, spacious & clean tent, an extremely comfortable bed, and a warm and cozy stove. We loved it! The staff are friendly and helpful. Great location for visiting the Glacier National Park.
- naomi (10/5): - The property was well maintained, very friendly staff and free coffee!!! It was such a unique and amazing experience
- Kyle (10/5): -
- Nicholas (10/5): - Friendly staff, great amenities on site.
- Andrea (10/5): - Our 2 days here at the end of June were cold, wet and snowy but the tent heated well with the fireplace and the bed was super comfy! For a Glamping experience it was great!
- Marybeth (10/5): - The most comfortable way to stay in a tent in a beautiful setting! Fireplace made it cozy, bathroom w/shower made it feel like home. Everything was clean and in good shape.
- John (10/5): - Properties great and I would recommend it but be aware it is close to main road and train line. If you want pristine quiet this is not you place
- Gregory (9/5): -
- Alfonso (10/5): - Great costumer care. Wonderful place.
- Chris (10/5): - Glamping at it very finest.
- Shruti (10/5): - Beautiful glamping experience, best staff and best location
- Daan (9/5): Handige locatie en leuk personeel vlakbij Glacier. - Aardig personeel en leuke tenten met veel aandacht voor de klant. Geluid van toeterende treinen zijn wel iets om over na te denken bij het boeken.
- Marc (9/5): - Locatie, setting, supervriendelijk
- Sheldon (6/5): Loud Neighbors Ruined a Great Experience - This was our first time camping at a hotel. The location was great. They had lots of activities to do. They had live music and marshmallows by an open fire where you could talk politics with other patrons. The cost! It was over $530 cad for one night. The breakfast choices weren't that great. We paid over $70 cad for 2 slices of avocado toast and a couple of coffees. I remember throughing out one of the toasts. It is dusty and there is a lot of walking on this site. We had neighbors that were very loud until at least 1 am. When you book online, they make it very clear that quiet hours are between 10pm and 7am and seems like that policy is strict but we couldn't get to sleep until the rest of the campers got quiet.
- luigi alberto (8/5): - Bella struttura a due passi dall'ingresso di west glacier Troppo rumorosa x vicinanza autostrada
- Adrianne (10/5): - A unique experience. It is warm in the summer during the day, but we are "camping" so that wasn't unexpected. The family tent set up was ideal with teenagers. Helpful staff. Clean accomodations. nothing
- Nancy (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at Under Canvas. The staff and service were exceptional. We loved our large tent with ensuite bathroom. Everything for our wood burning stove was all ready to go, and we were thankful because it was very chilly and damp outside. Inside we were very comfortable, and loved the ambience the small fire afforded. The breakfast items we ordered were all delicious.
A special note of thanks to Marijke. She went above and beyond for our group and made this a very special experience and memory for our group of six.
- Linda (7/5): Great for a glamping experience. - Location and camping atmosphere. Internet was poor - for getting info on traveling , maps. Noisy, although we were asked to sign a waiver stating there could be noise traffic from road and people walking around. Pricey for stay.
- Paige (9/5): Great and will look to stay in others. - Cleanliness of bathrooms, tent, and surroundings. Bed was super comfortable and tent was very cozy with wood burning stove. Staff helpful & friendly. Lobby area had free s'mores materials, coffee, and tea. Nice in the morning. The only negative is your here the train going through several times during the night but they do supply earplugs.
- Marc (10/5): - Overall it was a great experience, best Glamping one could ask for!!
- Brandi (10/5): - I booked this stay as part of a larger trip including Canada for my husband's 40th birthday. When we first arrived, we were greeted and instructed on the use of our wood burning stove and shower. We were then escorted up to the parking area and rode a golf cart to our tent with our luggage. The tent we stayed in was the deluxe which included a toilet, shower, and sink. This was definitely worth the extra money. The shower is as you would expect a pull chain, on a timer type shower. The water did get very warm, but would get cold requiring you to pull the chain again. The bed was very comfortable and the room had plenty of seating both inside and out with areas to hang your stuff. Charging stations were offered for your phones as well as battery powered lanterns that provided ample light. It did get chilly overnight (in the 50's) but there were plenty of blankets on the bed and with the wood burning stove, we stayed pretty comfortable. In fact, I got hot eventually under all the blankets. I read other reviews and people complained about traffic noise and the train. Yes, you're right off Hwy 2 and there is traffic, but not as much towards the evening and I didn't wake up at night to the sounds of traffic. There are trains that go through the area fairly regularly (including overnight) and they are required to blow their horn, but if you hike hard enough, you'll pass out at the end of the day anyways ha! Anyone who had bad reviews obviously doesn't understand camping.
- Melanie (10/5): - This was our 2nd Under Canvas location and loved it as much as the first time!
- Genein (10/5): - Staff were the best I have ever experienced!
- Carl (4/5): - After researching for a unique and peaceful gateway I came across Under Cavas Glacier online. Upon arriving however, after the sun had gone down, there was an immediate understanding that the stay would be far from peaceful. There were so many people in vehicles that it was hard to find parking just to simply check in. Not to mention loud sounds coming from all the conversations happening around the premises. The tent “upgraded to deluxe” due to private bathroom offered was clean, simple, and the bed and shower were both very inviting to use. However, using the shower and trying to fall asleep proved that you cannot judge a book by its cover. Although initially impressed by the mere fact that a tent could produce a hot water shower, unfortunately it was set near boiling temperatures, rendering it almost unusable. As bedtime arrived the parties outside continued and the highway traffic and train both noise from the tracks and whistle were laughably loud and obnoxious- location, location, location.
It being a canvas tent there is zero noice insulation to the outside world. If only we could have heard a little bit of wilderness. The fireplace was a joke and with random smoke alarms going off throughout the entire evening proved we weren’t the only tenants having issues. I appreciate the effort from under canvas glacier for what it’s worth but the pricing is so far north from properly representing the realities of staying there.
- Rina (10/5): - Stayed here the first night of our honeymoon. My mom called and told the staff. They were wonderful! They upgraded the cabin and there were signs that said “Congrats Newlyweds.” It was a wonderful surprise. Would definitely stay again!
- kim (10/5): - Great bedding, fun experience
- Leia (8/5): - The train come by ever hour over night is not the best for sleeping. 4 or 5 trains over night.
- Philip (10/5): -
- Elyse (10/5): - Great experience for someone who loves the outdoors but wants to relax.
- Stuart (8/5): - The staff does a FANTASTIC job of making a great experience for guests, but unfortunately their efforts can be overshadowed by the property’s location. Road noise and train whistles are simply a given, and no amount of fantastic service can counteract the impact they have.
- Nicole (10/5): - Accommodations were great!! Lots to do - games, fires, live music, food and drink onsite.
- SeattleTraveler (10/5): Outstanding experience with top-notch staff! - Great staff, great location, great overall "campus" and great vibe. Could use more lighting to bathrooms.
- Christi (10/5): It was so much more than I expected and I can’t wait to return! - I loved the stew and biscuit for dinner! Yum! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Just like family! Excellent coffee and the s’more treat was delightful! You thought of everything, even was able to plug in CPAP. More food options, maybe but what you offered was top notch. Our stay was too short! Needed a few more days.
- Scott (8/5): - This property checks alot of our boxes. The tent was spacious and had a private bathroom. The Lobby tent had many complimentary items such as coffee, tea , apple cider and there grab and go was helpful. i enjoyed their cafe as it was very convenient with a nice selection of food , beer and wine. Lastly tbeir evening activities was a nice touch. My only real observation is the stoves only can keep about 2hr of wood so you will need to choose sleep in cold or wakeup thru the night and add more firewood. Other than that awesome trip. I would come back.
- Robert (10/5): - Was absolutely lovely
- Sarah (8/5): - Love this experience. My only complaint is it is too close to the highway. I will not return because of this reason.
- Alexandria (10/5): Glamping Vacation - Great experience. Camping with the luxuries of home- perfect for a family with a mix of both outdoorsy and city types. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
