Guest Reviews
- Asa (7/5): Good value for money no frills clean rooms. Would stay again. - Clean. Good shower. Fridge in room. Spacious and had a countryside view. Unusable sized cloak room style hand basin.
- Jo (8/5): -
- Whitcombe (10/5): warm clean cosy apartment quiet location with parking hope to come again soon - the location for our 1 night stay was good as was the clean tidy appartment no dislikes
- Geoffrey (4/5): Dodgy parking policy…. - Last minute availability. Unfair parking Policy…
Booked accommodation…parking was important …I have a MWB sprinter… advertised Free Parking..
Booked on this aspect.
Paid for booking … turned up and was told parking was extra for my Van.
Unfair as it was not defined pre booking.
Very large car park half empty.
The whole uncounted with the manager reminded me of

- Tracy (10/5): - All of it was great
- Emma (9/5): -
- Anna (10/5): Excellent, would 100% recommend! - Perfect room, with everything we needed. Lovely staff, warm welcome on arrival and always made the effort to speak with us in passing throughout the stay. Will definitely stay again when next visiting family.
- Angela (8/5): -
- Martin (6/5): - Convenient location for me TV reception was intermittent; stayed for 4 days but only had coffee enough for 1 day
- Witt (8/5): Perfectly adequate for our needs and short stay near family. - Lovely and clean, great beds and good location for our needs. There wasn’t enough comfortable sofas/chair for 4 adults to relax.
- Katharine (5/5): Budget room!! - Not a lot Squeaky floor. Had to tune the tv in, then not many channels. Uncomfortable bed. Small poor shower room/cubicle. No lock on bathroom door. Bathroom sink incredibly small (couldn’t fill kettle up in sink, had to use shower). No shelf in shower. Kettle boiling under the tv. No dressing table. Sat nav didn’t find the property.
- Mohammed (8/5): -
- Jack (8/5): Exactly what we expected. - Easy access, convenient position. Basic but exactly what you would expect for the price. Would use again.
- Steven (8/5): - Was a nice room but needs blackout blinds as was very bright in room at 530ish
- Stephanie (9/5): Would recommend. - The apartments are lovely and have everything you need in them. Beds are comfortable. The little court yard is all set up with tables so you can sit outside if it’s a nice day and eat. In a great location for things to do. I would definitely stay here again.
- Stuart (9/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): It was great -
- Guest (10/5): -
- Angela (8/5): Smithaleigh - I couldn't fault it, little things like free wifi/ smart tv, and basic things like tea bags/coffee/ sugar etc that we didn't expect in there, The only thing I could say was maybe the mattresses, but everybody's different
- kevin (9/5): Good - Tv recepcion poor.
- Steven (9/5): Great stay if you like the countryside! - Stunning place, very nice staff and plenty of parking, even for my big van. Heating seemed to be controlled by owner, did not do anything if you adjusted the radiator, just left the key in room , not got a reception as such. Didn't mind the travel to get food, is in middle of nowhere.
- blue (10/5): Perfect -
- Tracie (9/5): Great location for our trip, handy for the A38. Clean rooms comfy beds responsive owner - Really handy
Really clean
Comfy beds
Responsive owner Hmmm-don’t want this to be a complaint, just an observation…
If accommodation sleeps 4, I feel there should be comfy seating for 4
Crockery was a bit lacking. 4 side plates would have been better at breakfast…as an example
No hairdryer
I’m sure there was mention of ‘toiletries’-yes there was soap but I presumed additional stuff
- Becky (10/5): Great stay - Booked 2 nights in a studio for my son who was working a few miles away. He was warmly greeted on arrival and staff were very accommodating in letting him park a larger than average vehicle overnight in the onsite car park. Kitchenette facilities were more than adequate to rustle up an evening meal. Excellent location and easy to find just off of A38. Nothing
- Tassell (8/5): - Peace and quiet
Shops weren't that fair away Was no toiletries in bathroom
Some would have been nice.
Was cold when heating went off.
- Judith (9/5): Will definitely return - Excellant location, which was reasonably easy to find (off the Devon expressway)
Room was clean, spacious with a full size fridge. Bed was extremely comfortable and it was very quiet. Plenty of onsite parking. Only crtitcism was the very small basin in the shower room which meant you couldn't fill the kettle: fortunately we brought our own water.
- Helen (8/5): Cosy stay and great location - Lovely room. Nice and clean and warm. Had a fridge and a microwave which is just what I wanted. Easy to find. Good location just off A38 and easy to get in to Plymouth. Easy to check in. Instructions very clear. I would stay here again. Everything was fine - my one bit of feedback would be the room would be nicer with a chair of some sort - nothing fancy - even just a tub chair to sit in to make it a bit more cosy. There were 2 dining chairs and table or sit on the bed.
- Harold (10/5): Amazing stay everything about it - So welcoming ans great service and staff and rooms outstanding Everything about the place staff so helpful
- jennie (8/5): - A simplistic, no frills, accommodation that served our needs perfectly. Clean, modern/new. Water pressure was fantastic, radiators extremely efficient. Quiet location. Bed was a little uncomfortable (lumpy and small) but for one night it was fine.
- Mark (1/5): Shocking - Location Bad staff rooms smell don’t recommend
- Brian (9/5): -
- Glanville (8/5): -
- Martyn (10/5): - Clean and cheap No food available (but that's why it's cheap, so that's fine)
- Jacqui (8/5): -
- Michael (6/5): Ok for a one night stop over , but wouldn’t be my cup of tea for a week . - The room was clean and tidy , served its purpose. Very creaky flooring and paper thin walls . Could hear the couple next door talking at times . Wasn’t keen on the self check in.
- Peter (8/5): Grateful to have found a room at a busy time - A room was available. Friendly staff.
- Marcus (9/5): Great place, perfect for our needs. We'll be back. - Lovely two bedroom apartment very clean and comfortable. Friendly greeting on arrival. Parking next to room. Perfect for our needs. We will definitely be returning. Nothing worthy of mention
- Paul (10/5): - It was excellent value for money.
- Darren (9/5): Comfortable and good value - Quiet location, clean and good value No issues
- Allison (9/5): Good location for exploring the area. Rooms clean and comfortable. Easy check in and check out - Great
- Leigh (10/5): Great place to stay have booked again - Contactless check in was brilliant
Located out of the way enough to be peaceful but near things enough to not cost a fortune on taxis It was perfect nothing bad to say
- Miranda (8/5): Excellent value for money, spotlessly clean and very comfortable! - Spotlessly clean and very comfortable facilities. Comfy bed, hot power shower and plenty of room. Looked newly decorated. Warm & cosy on arrival. Excellent value for money. Perfect for a night away having visited family. Bit difficult to find the entrance/parking in the dark having not been before. Staff/ Josh was very friendly and helpful with this!
- graeme (4/5): Beware of extra charges the hotel make on arrival - The place was cheap at £60 however so what the competition however free parking was offered. So on arrival the hotel made a charge of £10 for parking a standard size transit work van. Said that if we did not book using booking.com then parking would be free and complained of high commission charges booking.com make. That’s not customers problem and they should state this on the booking.com.
Heating was turned off early on evening so had to wear joggers for bed as the room was too cold. Rooms are small and dated with noise from corridor and adjacent rooms.
- John Hicks (9/5): A good value, conveniently located, dog friendly getaway for weekends exploring Plymouth and beyond. - It was comfortable and very quiet. The location was perfect being only ten minutes sway from Plymouth. Dog friendky too. There were no local places to walk our dog which meant that we had to use the car to take the dog out.
- Sean (9/5): - Booking Nothing
- Colin (5/5): - The location was good for visiting family. Decorative finishes dated, musty damp smells throughout the building, mattress in our room tired, could do with replacing.
- Guest (5/5): - Location Only one chair. No extractor fan working in bathroom. Faulty light switch in bathroom.
- Jackie (6/5): The bed was really uncomfortable and the stairway was very dark with dark carpet Making descending tricky - Great location staff really helpful Uncomfortable beds
Badly lit hallway and stairs
- Hazel (8/5): - The location was perfect for us. Lovely and quiet, rooms very spacious Unfortunately, the shower head needed fixing, and the shower unit was very small, need a powerful extracter fan. Dusty blind.
- Allison (10/5): A perfect location. Self catering studio is ideal for lone travellers that don’t want to go out and eat alone - Easy access to the A38. Very clean room with a comfortable bed. Nice and warm. Everything I needed in the kitchenette to prepare my dinner and breakfast the next morning. N/a
- Talbot (9/5): Basic apartment, not far from city center. - Nice little apartment. For a partially ambulatory wheelchair user it was just big enough to maneuver around although there was a big step up into the property and non accessible shower.
Beds were comfortable and good size. Owner was easy to message with no contact check in and out. Parking directly outside all level. Easy to find and nice location, within minutes of the city center. Not as accessible as believed to be and not much of a living area but as a basic little apartment it served us well for the one night.
- Jordan (10/5): -
- Pam (7/5): -
- Richard (10/5): - Very comfortable bed. The host was very helpful and nothing to much trouble. Would stay again. Shame I couldn't get food on site after a long drive.
- Jennifer (8/5): - No breakfast It suited us so no dislikes
- Graham (9/5): - Easy contactless check in and out , very clean and tidy. Beds were very comfortable
- Robin (5/5): -
- Durman (10/5): Brilliant find, ample space and fresh modern rooms, good proximity to Plymouth, we will be back - Contactless key collection with easy to follow instructions.well presented room with ample tea and coffee to use. Good shower and well layed out bathroom.Easy to find just off of the Devon Express way and only 14 minutes drive to Plymouth. The bed was too firm for my personal liking but was gine for my husband.we do have zip lock matresses at home for this reason, so its the only negative thing there was to say.
- Abid (10/5): - Really nice and quiet location very nice and clean
- Paul (10/5): -
- gingell (1/5): Crap
Will never book again - It's not good was built in in the 1970s and not been updated since the beds were totally worn out Did not sleep in them I left and found alternative accommodation
- Joanne West (9/5): Lovely cosy apartment - Lovely little cosy apartment with everything we needed for an overnight stay. Very clean too! Can't really think of anything, I guess if I had to be really picky, I would have liked Netflix 😀 but honestly, it was great.
- Roberta (9/5): -
- Steve (10/5): Excellent clean and tidy 2 bed apartment, perfect spot for us when visiting family in the area - Clean and spacious property, nice lounge/diner plus good size bedrooms. Was perfect for a few days visiting family in the area and nice to be able to go back & relax after busy days. Chap who ran it was super friendly and helpful. Everything was great :-)
- Andrew Barrow (9/5): EXcellent location for Plymouth and Cornwall. - Clean, comfortable room. Plenty of parking. Good value for money, Perhaps shampoo could have been provided in a dispenser in the shower.
- Norman (10/5): Nothing more to add. It was just what I hoped for. - It was just what I was looking for and was spotlessly clean. Nothing.
- Ewan (9/5): Very good - Everything was very clean and the rooms are very spacious and comfortable I had a little trouble finding the entrance due to my satnav
- Upelle-odoh (1/5): -
- Anna (10/5): - Great location and easy self serve check in. The studio was very clean and comfortable It was great, but it would have been good to have a hairdryer and iron in the room
- Sonia (5/5): -
- Adrian (8/5): - Friendly helpful staff. Room clean and comfortable. Easy free parking. Just off the A38 withh little to none traffic noise.
- Trudie (9/5): -
- Jodie (10/5): - Lovely room and really cool compared to another room I have stayed in within this hotel. N/A
- Gerald (10/5): Excellent location with good value - Room was comfortable and quiet Nothing
- Vito (10/5): Dimora confortevole - La stanza ampia, il letto comodo, la gentilezza di Simon Fornitura essenziale dell'angolo cottura
- Trudy (9/5): Very helpful, friendly staff, very clean. - Staff were amazing.
Double room tired looking but had new bathroom.
Studio apartment very good, refurbished, only detrimental issue was the road noise as it was too warm to shut the windows so am unable to comment on if that would have solved the issue.
Two bed apartment as above- very good, refurbished etc. Road noise.
Bath towels too small.
- David (7/5): A very convenient location for a short stay. - Convenient location, basic facilities but all in good order. Small shower cubicle, poor quality towels, noise from room above.
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location . Helpful staff.
Lovely and clean.
Will stay again Everything was nice. Nothing to dislike
- Joanne (10/5): A very pleasant and comfortable stay thank you! - The staff/owner was very friendly and helpful. The room had everything we needed for our stay and it was very clean and comfortable. It was a little bit noisy because we were right next to the road side. The traffic did speed along that road joining the A38.
- Jan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Martin (8/5): Very good -
- David (10/5): Highly recommended if staying in that area again would be my first choice - Exceptionally clean. Good size twin room with all the facilities . Price reasonable for location. Ample parking.
- Ray (8/5): Very good -
- Tina (8/5): Very good -
- Kathy (7/5): Good location for travel around - Location just off A38 ideal for visiting family and getting about .
Apartment very clean and bed’s comfortable Derelict building next door and didn’t look like pictures .
Not really dog friendly for walks without risking being on roads .
Motel rather than hotel
- Daniel (4/5): Disappointing -
- Tony (9/5): Excellent stay - Our host Simon was fantastic. He was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for him. He made us feel welcome and he even provided transport to our function in ivybridge when we could not get a taxi. He even provided transport for the return journey. Fantastic customer service and we will stay here again. Value for money
Helpful staff
- Kathleen (7/5): Good - Dose what it says on tin
- Trefor (3/5): Happy to depart. - Leaving! This place is in the middle of nowhere. Alongside the busy A38, traffic roaring past day and night. On a very hot night I had to have my windows open. My room was clean. The bed was soft. Poor quality mattress. No hair dryer. No coat hangers to hang my clothes/trousers on. Not even a hook on the door. The 'toiletries' consisted of one tiny bar of soap. The occupants beneath my room had a dreadful argument/fight which lasted ages. It sounded as if they were smashing the room up. I called the Police, who were totally disinterested. I was relieved to depart in the morning.
- Greta (9/5): Pleased the room was as shown on site, very clean and tidy. - don't remember stating preference during booking to have parking at no additional cost! Husband was very grateful they allowed him to store his bike in safe spot (it was clean ), cannot think of anything other than stairs with cases but hay we booked that room. maybe something to hang towel and dressing gown in bathroom maybe.
- Lauren (3/5): Basic and loud - Location Horribly thin walls, was kept up all night by horrendously inconsiderate guests.
- Laura (7/5): Affordable, decent, honest accommodation in the local area. - The staff (Josh) were really friendly and helpful. We literally had arrived at a campsite in torrential rain and decided to bail, booking this place online and arriving on the doorstep 20 minutes later. Josh made sure all was sorted for us and we very much appreciated this.
The rooms were really clean and whilst basic, were comfortable. There was plenty of parking. Some of the features (carpets, bannisters etc.) are dated and tired.
It’s not possible to fill the kettle in the tiny sink in room 12. You either have to use cups or the shower.
- Kwhitfield (6/5): Nice but Noisy - Excellent location. Quiet area. Very noisy people in the next room. Kept us awake nearly all night. TV on constantly and constant noise.
- William (8/5): Very good -
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional - Just on the outskirts of plymouth and excellent value for money
- Peter (6/5): Pleasant -
- Dominic (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (8/5): Very good -
- Lynch (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jamie (8/5): Enjoyable stay. - Hassle free booking which ticked all of the boxes for my overnight stay. My room had cooking facilities, very comfortable bed and a fantastic strong shower & bath along with the usual features you would expect. Nothing major to dislike but it is quite isolated so I'd advise taking food & drink supplies with you.
