Not a single frill of any quality in a bland and dated interior decoration reminiscent of an airport hotel. Not one feature of quality about the hotel interior except it was clean. Dull lunch on offer, ok breakfast, dungeon bar setting but all the staff really very nice. I suppose it is the corporate designer and the aging of it all that lets it down.

newhampshire411 (10/5): Weekend Getaway - This is a beautiful hotel tucked away in the city’s historic center. We were in a King Junior Suite for three nights, and it immediately struck the right balance of comfort and atmosphere. The hotel colors are light and inviting, accented with a bright blue tea lounge right off the entry. The team was incredibly accommodating, and they checked us in early after our flight arrived in the morning, which turned our travel day into something easy and effortless. What makes the Waldorf special is its mix of history and location. The hotel is a collection of five historic connected townhomes and sits on the Gentleman’s canal, which is a UNESCO heritage site. Its location makes it convenient to step out and walk or bike to galleries, canals, and the city’s iconic neighborhoods. Amsterdam’s classic, canal-side legacy is all around it, and the hotel’s own heritage is part of what gives the stay that “old-meets-new” feeling.
ThatT1Feeling (10/5): Unique building, great room, wonderful stay. - Every part of my one night stay was excellent at this truly unique, individual hotel. Even check-in was different from any check-in I have had before, and then to be walked to my room by the host, once she had checked which fragrance I wanted in my room at turndown time was a new one for me. The King Grand Loft room was one of a kind, with so much space and character - really cosy and quiet at the top corner of the hotel. The pool and steam room area was really classy, the cocktail experience was out of this world and generally the service was unparalleled. Then topped off by a fabulous breakfast. The overnight oats was very special.

Discerningreviewer4 (10/5): A memorable stay in the heart of Amsterdam - This is, as many reviewers have mentioned, an ideally located hotel in Amsterdam. In spite of its centrality, the property retains a welcoming and tranquil vibe. The level of service and attentiveness is quintessential WA. From the moment of arrival, throughout the stay and checkout, we were made to feel welcomed. Upon arrival, we were met by Dominique, who seemed to appear out of nowhere. He assisted us with our luggage and accompanied us to the reception area. Lisa assisted us with the formalities and then took us up to our room where we were pleasantly surprised to have been upgraded to a room with a canal view. The room was clean and inviting. Room amenities were adequate and we really enjoyed the view especially in the mornings before the city was fully awake. We had no issues with noise from the canal cruises going by or the fact that a busy street was steps away. Attention to cleanliness was obvious throughout the property. We are grateful to all the staff we encountered who made our stay memorable. Thanks to Lisa who gave us a quick tour of the property including the vault bar. Carla gifted us a most welcomed souvenir which was especially nice. Julian was always welcoming us back with a smile and helping us with our bags. Even on our way out, Bryton offered water for our journey and tips on getting to Central station. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay and would absolutely recommend this hotel.

TerrasTravels (10/5): WAAms - What an amazing stay! ! I used one of my complimentary nights from my Hilton Diamond status because I came into Amsterdam a day early and omg I love this hotel! As soon as my cab stopped in front, a man immediately came down the stairs to help me with my bag and escort me to the check in area. They asked if I wanted anything to drink and I said of course champagne! They gave me two! I checked in with Lisa who was amazing! She had me pick out a scent for my room. What? I didn’t know that existed! Super fun! My room wasn’t ready because I had booked late even though it was 3pm but I didn’t mind waiting, especially when they gave me that 2nd glass of champagne. When I got my room, Lisa and Fae escorted me to the room to make sure I liked it and it was beautiful. I loved how the light came into the bathroom. On that note the bathtub was so nice I almost fell asleep in it! You receive welcome chocolates in the shape of Amsterdam shoes which were so cute and delicious! I ordered room service as the bar only served snacks and did not want to go to the restaurant by myself as it was really open. I got the Waldorf Astoria Burger which was amazing and so good! I’d go back to this hotel just for that burger itself. The next day I also had the breakfast and was able to get the whole tray of assortments and all the juices and coffee I wanted PLUS another dish! All complimentary with my Hilton Diamond status. I ordered the French toast and everything was delicious! Obviously I couldn’t eat it all but was able to take some left to the room for later. I also had a spa appointment while here. Massage was great and the masseuse mentioned to see a physical therapist to help my lower back pain that I was complaining about as she said it was coming from my glutes, legs, knees. I’ve seen a couple of masseuses in the last two years in the states and one in Canada and NONE had ever even mentioned that that could help. I love this! Very professional staff. The spa also very serene with sauna, jacuzzi, and pool. They have a door to the garden which I’m assuming is beautiful in summer but I was here in February so it was freezing! When I checked out it was with Lisa again and she was great as usual and the guys helped me with my bags again when my uber came. They let me sit in the other room and said they’d let me know when it was here. Very nice. I did not want to leave. Haha!

pauleS1024YX (10/5): This should be your first choice hotel in Amsterdam - I visited the Waldorf Astoria in January 2026 on a work trip over 2 weeks. It was my first time here, I have spent over 30 years visiting hotels of this level around the world. I can honestly say that this is the warmest friendly welcome I have ever received in a hotel by every member of staff, I was made to feel like family, but a favourite family member! Not the other kind!! From the initial lovely welcome at the door right through to the delightful staff working in every area including the room service, laundry, and technical staff walking around the hotel. The staff here are absolutely amazing, if I didn’t have a home, I would choose to live here! The hotel is situated in a perfect central location, with a canal outside the front door to go for a walk or jump on a boat and see what Amsterdam has to offer. The food is delicious and the club sandwich which is my go to in every hotel is a strong 9/10. The rooms are luxurious, spacious and extremely quiet. If I had to look for negatives in search of perfection, the en suite bathroom towels could be larger and the downstairs breakfast restaurant would be a nice choice for dining in the evening as the tables and chairs are the right height, coffee tables and sofas in lobby are a little low for eating off. So if those are my only negatives, this hotel is absolutely delightful and should be your number one choice when coming to Amsterdam. Thank you Waldorf
MFT78 (10/5): Timeless luxury with impeccable attention to detail - Our stay at the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam in June 2025 was exceptional. I traveled with my teenage daughter to experience the city, which has since become her favorite in the world and the Waldorf Astoria was a perfect base for discovering it. The hotel is beautiful and steeped in history, set gracefully along the canal yet within an easy walk of the city center. It feels elegant and composed, with a strong sense of place that’s increasingly rare in luxury hotels. Dining throughout our stay was excellent. Breakfasts felt formal in the best way, unhurried, refined, and consistently delicious, with standout food quality. The wait staff were personable and the service excellent. The rooms were spacious and serene, the beds exceptionally comfortable, and the attention to detail immediately noticeable. From the fixtures and finishes to the pillows, linens, and Aesop products, everything reflected genuine quality. We were also welcomed with beautiful local chocolates, both upon arrival and again in our room, thoughtfully presented and absolutely delicious. These details matter deeply to me just as they do in my own home and when choosing a luxury hotel, they’re not optional. The Waldorf Astoria delivers across the board. I especially appreciated being asked which scent I preferred for the room upon arrival, as well as the thoughtful farewell gift of a solid perfume, which now lives in my linen closet and still brings back the feeling of our stay. Amsterdam itself is vibrant, multicultural, and full of life. We experienced several rainy days, which are part of the city’s character, yet the hotel created such a warm and comfortable atmosphere that it never felt like a disruption only a pleasure to return to. This service deserves special mention. When we realized after departure that my daughter had left her camera behind, the team immediately took care of mailing it back to us in the U.S. without hesitation. That level of ease and attentiveness speaks volumes. A truly polished and thoughtful luxury experience. We would return without question.

The Pol Roger Brut Réserve champagne was absolutely delicious, and the ambiance was magical with beautifully decorated surroundings and live piano music adding a festive touch. chicago60614 (10/5): Perfection - Just perfect luxury in every way. We landed on this as a last minute hotel when we couldn't decide where to stay in Amsterdam and it was beautiful. It's a boutique hotel on the Herengracht Canal (aka the Gentleman's Canal) near Rembrandt Square, a lively and vibrant area a block away. It's a 15 min walk to the Rijksmuseum, a 20 min walk to the Van Gogh Museum and a 25 min walk to the Anne Frank House. May greeted us upon arrival and she was so unbelievably sweet. We stayed in Rm 221, and it was lovely and huge. It didn't have much of a view, except for a small window at the top of a small window bench of the canal, so if views are important, ask for them to show you another room and prepare to pay a significant amount more. The hotel is immaculate, I find it impressive when housekeeping keeps the place spotless, yet they are rarely ever seen. Each of the staff is 5 star in every way, and Frank our concierge was terrific. We stayed at 5 hotels on this trip and this was my husband's favorite. The hotel houses the Michelin Star restaurant Spectrum for a tasting menu. The website looks great, but living in Chicago, we've been to so many tasting menu's and didn't want to commit 3+ hours at a restaurant. My quick tips that I hope you find helpful: 1) Book Anne Frank tickets at least 6 weeks starting on a Tuesday at 10am or you won't get a space without paying 10 x more. 2) Book your Van Gogh tickets (these are timed tickets as well) a week out or you might end up like us (we tried 3 days out) without tickets. 3) We purchased our Rijks Museum tickets at the door with no problem. 4) Choose a canal tour with drinks and snacks with a departure time of an hour before sunset. We took a Captain Jack's canal cruise for $50 pp an hour before sunset so we could experience 30 min of light, 30 min of sunset and 30 min of the city lit up in the dark. I think it's exquisite at sunset and beautiful at night, but you can't see the details of the architecture as well. If you want something more intimate, the concierge can book a private boat tour, we just really enjoy meeting other people so we liked going on a group tour. If you take a boat like on Captain Jack's tour, sit on the side of the captain for better views as the front of the boat is raised up.

Hotel is on a canal near fun walking areas and canal boat tours. Room was large and perfectly appointed. Very clean and nice bedding and towels( bed itself on the firm side). Staff are amazingly attentive and helpful. They even arranged bags with items needed since our luggage couldn’t be retrieved. I could go on but do yourself a favor and stay here!

The concierge was very poor in recommendation, the toilet of my room was not clean. The windows were close in a stupid way. 1200€ nightly is too much for this. I have spend more money on different properties and was happy, but for this it is too much, maximum is 400€ for what they can offer.

At check in the agent gave us a detailed explanation of the hotel as well as our benefits as Diamond membership, she even gave us a nice tour. In addition, she offered my daughter and I a chocolate each time we saw her, which my daughter loved! We also loved that we could check out bikes free of charge and explore the city! It’s a wild ride! The bellman were friendly at opening doors, helping with luggage and getting those bikes ready. Our room was specious and comfortable with a beautiful view of the canal. Great location!

Was the melding together of 5 canal palaces and has the largest private garden in Amsterdam! The breakfast are great. Workout room is totally adequate but the pool is a bit disappointingly small — definitely not doing laps there. All in all— a delight!!

Yes there are a few minor improvements that would help (bigger swimming pool / better fitness center - these are just not up to a 5-star hotel standard, amenities kits in the bathroom), but overall the property is lovely. Location is excellent - just removed from the main touristy (noisy) areas, close to some lovely restaurants. The hotel provides complimentary cycles to go around town (first come first serve). But what shines is the service...the staff left us absolutely speechless with their attention to small and minor details during our stay. Yes this hotel was priced more than double any other hotel in Amsterdam, but it was well worth it. Will gladly stay at this property next time we're in Amsterdam.

However our stay here had a rocky start, with some significant concerns—including unauthorized/unknown/uninformed hold charges to my credit card and a few inconsistencies in service (which we mentioned in a previous review). That said, I want to express my sincere appreciation for Front Office Manager Shannon Lowe, who took swift and professional action as soon as she became aware of the issues. Her excellent service recovery, clear communication, and follow-through made a real difference. She provided reassurance on the billing issues prior to checkout, and her approach helped turn around an otherwise disappointing experience. While there’s still room for improvement in overall consistency, Shannon’s personal attention to the issues, responsiveness and care deserve to be recognized. We left being confident that the hotel can continue to build on this standard of service.

Severely overpriced property that doesn’t deliver, inconsiderate staff, several lapses in basic service - these folks don’t care for their customers - it’s all about the money. We spent more than double compared to any other hotel in Amsterdam, and it was a big mistake. Don’t make the same mistake we did. This hotel is not worth it at all!, even if it was priced half of its current crazy high price.

119pattyb (6/5): Hotel Good - Concierge NOT - We were really looking forward to our stay at the Waldorf Amsterdam. We originally had planned to stay in April 2020 but Covid derailed that, we had all our reservations, tours, dinners etc. that wound up being cancelled. That made this trip even more anticipated for us. To start we got a room smaller than we wanted. I know this is just a request, but we made it a year in advance for my birthday trip. We were only asking for the same room type only a little bit bigger, we were staying 8 nights. We didn't get it. The room was nice and service good. We were surprised that there was really no acknowledgment of my birthday with a little cake or something special in the room. The same little shoe candies and the Waldorf Delft house that everyone received was all we got. The large format products in the bath were awful. Aesop is the name and they smelled terrible. The price if you wanted to purchase it, and who would, for body balm was $80.00. Other products were high too. Breakfast each morning in Goldfinch was nice, albeit crowded. A couple of days there was an asian family with kids running all over, sitting at unoccupied tables and just being so disruptive with no supervision from their parents and no staff addressing this either. Katrina, was wonderful though. She remembered us each morning and greeted us with a smile and brought our beverages that she remembered we wanted. Our biggest letdown were the tours we booked way in advance with the concierge team. It started out well with a wonderful woman Anita, who we had for two days. Zaanse Schans, Volendam & Keukenhof. She was knowledgeable and very nice. The Giethoorn disaster was beyond awful. We booked a boat ride for 2 hours with the price quoted by the concierge. We had a private driver and it took 1-45 mins to get there. We were taken into a restaurant Hollands Venetie where the $350.00 was now $700.00. We walked out and had the driver take us to the town. Then back to the hotel. A total waste of a day. To their credit they refunded us the total amount of the tour & driver. I am going to try and write a review with more detail. I made it clear to the Waldorf they should not do business with a scam company like this. The next disaster was the incompetence of our tour of the Hague. The totally botched it, giving us a time when the Mauritshuis wasn't even open. Another waste of a day, which they also made right by refunding us. I really didn't want refunds I wanted the tours we booked and carefully selected. Days we can never get back. This is a nice hotel. I must say that anyone with mobility issues will find it hard to stay here. The steps just to enter are many and fairly steep. Then up at the top there is another step the doorman has to keep telling guests to watch for. There also is no cover on these steps for inclement weather. We asked how someone with a wheelchair or walker could navigate this and they showed us a door at the bottom of the steps. Problem is you then have to go around the entire back of the hotel through the garden and through the restaurant to the elevator outside of the restaurant. This is a long process to be sure. I would pay attention to this if you select this hotel. Also, when we checked in they never gave us our itinerary for our tours & reservations they made. We might have noticed the discrepancy with one of the tours, but not the absolute highway robbery the boat company tried to pull on us. Isabel one of the concierge was very nice, Frank was always on the defensive and really didn't display and concern or care for their missteps. Just constantly trying to defend himself became quite tiresome. We have no plans to return, the city was not as great as we had hoped.
kaya265 (10/5): A Perfect Hotel for a Perfect Holiday in Amsterdam - From the moment we were welcomed into the hotel by the valets at the canal door to the assistance provided by the registration staff who checked us in and gave us candy tulips, the whole start of our stay was fabulous. The concierges were very helpful and so knowledgeable about the city! We loved our beautiful room on the canal. The room had two spacious closets so we both unpacked our clothes for the week with plenty of room and drawers to spare. The breakfast every morning in the beautiful lower level overlooking the courtyard was always a treat! The staff and delicious food were always great. Our stay at the Waldorf Astoria was just perfect!!

Sightsee617630 (4/5): wonderful trip with bad ending - Our stay at the hotel was first rate. The rooms were wonderful and the staff was gracious and helpful. Then, on April 17, 2025, I asked the concierge about shipping approximately $1,000 of gifts my daughter had purchased while in Amsterdam. I was advised that it was no problem and paid over $100 to have the items delivered to my office in Pittsburgh, PA on Monday, April 21. Soon after, I began to get messages from Fed Ex that there was a “clearance delay” and that “Shipment requires importer's registration/identification number for clearance. (Examples include EIN, SSN, VAT, GST, RFC, etc.) Recommended action: Importer must provide the required registration/ identification number” After many phone calls to Fed Ex and the hotel, the two boxes of my daughter’s gifts are still languishing in Indianapolis, IN nearly three weeks later. I am appalled, angry and disheartened by the hotel’s seeming indifference to this situation. There appears to be absolutely no movement on the part of the hotel to resolve this matter. A wonderful trip has soured.

This is the best accommodation in Europe and is a beautiful property with the UNESCO private garden. Service, elegance, and class - the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam has it all. Some might say Pedregal has the top spot in the Waldorf collection, and they would be wrong. I can only imagine the new opening in Costa Rica as potential competition, but I will be returning regardless next April for another week including 2 days of King's day events, Keukenhof, and the perfect hotel. LibbyCincinnati (10/5): Best Hotel in Amsterdam with outstanding service! - I can't say enough positive things about this hotel. It is definitely the best in Amsterdam. I have traveled all over and this hotel has the best trained staff I have ever experienced. The hotel property is spectacular. It is lovely and well decorated. The beds were the most comfortable I have had in a long time. The vault bar is so fun with their creative cocktails. It is truly an art in what they are doing. Breakfast was wonderful . Peacock Alley is a good spot for a glass of wine and a snack later in the evening or a bite to eat for lunch. The best part of this hotel is the concierge staff. I had been communicating with them for months about what we were looking for and what we needed. I had booked a canal cruise, and the concierge team arranged for the boat to pick us up in front of the hotel. I had ordered food from the hotel for our cruise. The staff set the goodies I had pre-ordered up on silver trays on the boat for us. It was truly first rate. The concierge team was top notch and incredibly helpful. We decided to change some dinner reservations at the last minute and Nathan was on the job. He provided the utmost in service and with a smile. I also have to give a shout out to Frank and Isabelle who also helped us. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for real 5 star service and comfort. I will definitely return to this hotel because of the staff.
Sally (5/5): Service was over the top which I found most annoying. - Our room was very nice; bed, sheets, pillows, etc. Bathroom also lovely: modern and very functional and easy to use the shower head, tub, etc They nickel and dime you. I was paying top of the line pricing, yet there was no coffee/tea in the lobby that was complimentary, etc. The ‘benefits’ I was receiving that they proudly touted was a bottle of water in the room and WiFi. ANY budget chain hotel offers that. Also the service was obsequious . Good service is received not seen; the staff were almost over the top in seeking to provide good service. Three people to open the front door for us?!
Agnieszka (9/5): Superb - Perfect location. Very stylish interior. Fantasting staff - elegant and attentive. Breakfast on very high level with outstanding quality of ingredients. I had only one experience with Peacock Alley restaurant and it was below expectations - the chef may have had a bad day - my wagyu steak instead of bleu/rare came medium/ well-done. The icecream/ chocolate dessert came with icecream completely melted - maybe it was supposed to be this way but not a dessert that you are looking forward to. It was all well compensated with 2 glasses of champagne which I appreciated but eventually it was not encouraging to try the restaurant again.

cvhound (10/5): They set the bar incredibly high and leap over it effortlessly - We're checking out today after 5N and wish we could live here forever! We're huge fans of Waldorf Pedregal (17N over 4 annual visits) and were curious how the Waldorf Amsterdam would compare to the over-the-top service at Pedregal... I think the top spot now goes to Waldorf Amsterdam if you factor in both the hard and soft products. The service here is incredible and we've never experienced such thorough, impeccable housekeeping! They offer Dyson hairdryers in the rooms. If you're a Hilton Gold member or above, the Taste of Waldorf breakfast offering will keep you full until dinner! I ordered the Eggs Benedict Oriental every morning and it was perfect every time! The french toast was also delicious. The breakfast staff are all so friendly and accommodating! I could go on and on about this hotel.... We'll definitely be back! Highly recommend this hotel, but be prepared to be disappointed when you visit any other hotel in the future! 😆
UPG (8/5): Overhyped - Fantastic check-in by Ms Margarita, who could not have done anything better. I had booked a standard room for 110K points and got a complimentary Hilton Diamond upgrade to a king grand premier, a 5 category jump according to Ms Margarita. Late check-out was not available (subject to availability as usual) and I had to leave by noon the next day. I had high expectations of this much hyped property and was rather underwhelmed by the room and the hotel in general. I mean it is a very nice hotel and the service is outstanding, but I cannot imagine why anyone would want to pay USD 1,700/night (that was the going rate when I stayed last week) for basically an ordinary room facing the garden. And for that price it surprised me that most standard bathroom amenities were missing from the room. A welcome amenity consisting of a few klompen-shaped chocolates was provided, as well as slippers, bathrobes, pen and paper and a Nespresso machine. However there was no toothbrush, bar soap, cotton pads, shower cap, Q-tips, scale, just a handful of tissues in a box (no more than a dozen, as if it had not been replenished), the rest is available on request only. Surely the hotel will defend that it is part of its conservation efforts, but that is not how it is at other five star properties in Europe and at that price level I found it inconvenient to have to call the front desk and wait for delivery every time I needed something that should already have been in the room. I also was not impressed with the quality of the liquid soap and moisturizer, again compared to other luxury hotels. The Vault bar at level -1 is beautiful and well worth a visit, great cocktails and got a tour of the room with the original private safes from what used to be a bank. Service was slow with just 2 bartenders preparing the drinks and serving a number of demanding or curious customers, expect 20 to 25 EUR/cocktail, which is not unreasonable for the place and the quality of the cocktails.
