Guest Reviews
- Ricardo (10/5): Great location and great value. Know to be on a noisy street and with homeless near by. - Location is excellent. Be ready for agglomeration of homeless right there by the hotel door.
- charles (8/5): Nice Clean Hotel. Very High value for Money paid - Very Responsive Staff, Very clean and functional interior. Location in the Tenderloin. Lot's of homeless addicts and drug use in the surrounding area.
- Narek (1/5): Horrible location, clean but smelly room! - Staff members were nice although charged me $5 to keep my luggage safe for a few hours. The location is next to a homeless shelter and you have a crowd of homeless people at the entrance of the building usually. If you have never seen homeless of SF be prepared. My most complaint was the noise and the smell in the room coming from a bakery/factory in front of the window. I managed to sleep through it but I hated it.
- Gaurish Gopal (3/5): Staff is very cooperative and kind - There were bed bugs. The neighbourhood had a lots of homeless people who play loud music in the middle of night. Couldn’t sleep at all.
- Marleia (7/5): Perfect in a pinch! - Staff was wonderful. My room was a little bit delayed getting ready, but the fix was very quick. I liked that the room was safely away from the main areas. It's as clean as 100 year old buildings can be in SF. Some minor spots of concern, but good air quality, no mold, etc. Its the best stay than any hotel you can get on 6th, certainly. Great for the price and in a pinch, as I had to reassign last minute. While the location isn't great, it's only a few steps away from Market, so as long as you use Market and not continue going down 6th to get anywhere, it's safe. 6th Street has the homeless shelter, which makes it the street and onward for a lot of homeless to congregate. As long as you're polite and mind your own business, they mind their own business as well. But as a result, nights are noisy, and the area is concerning.
- William (1/5): - Extremely dangerous area
- Fabricio (8/5): - distribucion del espacio la cama
- Himanshu (6/5): - Very filthy neighbourhood
- Eduardo (5/5): If you need a decent priced room and are willing to brave it - Needed a place to stay that was reasonably priced. Staff was great and the room and facilities were clean, well lit, and maintained. The drug addled vagrants who were encamped outside the door was not a good situation. Rooms are dorm style which is alright if you’re used to that setup. No A/C and because of the vagrants there was non-stop sirens, music, and shouting from the street four stories below.
- De vries (1/5): Worst stay of my life - Nothing Everything
- Xiaolin (5/5): -
- Linh (10/5): -
- Fernandez (6/5): -
- NATALIA (10/5): - Excellent value for money.
If you’re looking for a budget-friendly option, this place is perfect. Everything was clean, quiet, and comfortable — exactly what you need for a pleasant stay There are many homeless people in the area, but this is clearly a city-wide issue, not related to the hotel itself. The responsibility lies with the local authorities, not the property
- Michał (1/5): Nie najlepsze wspomnienia. - 1.
3. Karaluch z rana na ścianie w toalecie
4. Krzyki na ulicy o 3 rano
- Philipp (5/5): ok - Staff No warm water or heating on first day.
- KAZUKI (7/5): -

- Filip (5/5): -
- Bottyan (6/5): - Jó ár-érték arány. Utca teli volt drogossal zullott alakokkal
- Lemin (8/5): -
- Carolyn Jill (8/5): - Given the circumstances of the neighborhood the hotel is in, the hotel staff does a really good job cleaning and are very friendly. The cost performance was good in my opinion. The neighborhood is definitely sketchy. But that is obviously not the owners' fault but people should be aware that they are getting what they are paying for.
- Anna (7/5): -
- hsichun (1/5): -
- Juan Ignacio (9/5): Nice experience over all, and the price - Location was great to events I need to go No air conditioning
- Marek (6/5): - Location was very good.
Staff was very friendly.
It was relatively cheap as for the center of San Francisco Neighborhood seemed to be dangerous due to many zombies vegetating on the street...
I think there was not enough showers and toilets for such amount of rooms in the building.
The view wasn't a nice one
- Jerry (10/5): -
- Krzysztof (7/5): -
- Maksym (5/5): Good value inside, chaos outside - The room was small but clean and I appreciated having a private bathroom, which was also nice and tidy. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The shared kitchen was convenient – I used the microwave once and it worked well. It’s also centrally located and close to the Powell BART station, which made getting around the city easy. The hotel felt more like a hostel and while I had requested a desk to work remotely, there wasn’t one – just a dresser I had to use instead, which wasn’t comfortable. The pillows were very uncomfortable and the noise from 6th Street made it hard to sleep – the soundproofing was quite poor. The surrounding area was by far the biggest downside: it felt unsafe at night, with a heavy homeless presence, dirty streets, bad smells, and constant noise from sirens.
- EMRE (8/5): - Lokasyon açısından her yere yakın mesafede
- Maria (8/5): -
- WAI KWAN (7/5): Good value to stay - Location and value
The place is clean! Shower is not hot and strong enough
- Deepan (1/5): Bad service, poor building maintenance. - The fire alarm panel was beeping for the entire duration of my stay, 2 days. The fan in my room had a knocking sound, when I spoke to the staff about this, their only solution was to switch off the fan if it was making a noise. Poor service, the noise kept me up all night for 2 days.
- Kelly (8/5): Great location with great value for money. I would highly recommend staying here. - Hotel is great value for what you are paying. £43 per night in a hotel right in downtown San Francisco is very cheap compared to other hotels nearby imo. You are close to many landmarks as well as bars and restaurants and right next to a BART station. The person I dealt with on arrival at reception was also very friendly. The surrounding area isn't the best with lots of homeless people walking around the street at night after 10pm and I did hear some noise from the street while sleeping. Make sure to bring a pair of ear plugs for the latter and that should solve that problem. There is nothing the hotel can do though about the homeless people out on the street and anyways they don't bother you as long as you don't engage with them. For what I paid I didnt get a toilet or shower, these were shared but they were always available when I wanted to use them.
- Rigo (8/5): -
- Ivan (8/5): - Ubicación cerca de Union Square. Baños limpios. Cama incómoda con sábanas sucias (maquillaje). Barrio ruidoso y habitaciones no insonorizadas.
- Fernando (8/5): -
- Senores (9/5): Needed to be in SF for work, and this was the most cost-effective option! I enjoyed my time there - Location was great geographically close to BART / Muni. Room was clean, and I booked the room with the private bathroom. Outside was pretty sketchy at night.
Could’ve used a single chair in my room (had to pull the desk to the bed in order to use it) and a few hangers in the closet would’ve been useful.
- LiFan (6/5): The price is reasonable, though the cleanliness could be improved. - The price is reasonable—about $60 per night. You’ll have your own private room while sharing the bathroom and toilets. The room door has a sturdy smart lock, which feels secure and safe. The light in the room is enough for reading. The bathroom is small—just enough space to stand, and it’s difficult to change clothes without touching the walls. The ventilation in the bathroom is also inadequate. My room is too close to the trash cans, and one day I saw a small cockroach inside (attach picture). The chair in the room is old and wobbly. Outside, the building is on a main street where 5–10 homeless people are usually present each day, though they seem friendly. I would suggest that the landlord either empty the trash on each floor daily or move the trash bins outside of building.
- Ivan (4/5): - LA UBICACION PARECE BUENA PERO POR LA NOCHE LA CALLE SE CONVIERTE EN UN LUGAR MUY MALO PARA CAMINAR. DE LAS PEORES ZONAS DE LA CIUDAD, MUCHO DROGA Y MUCHO RUIDO.
- Steven (6/5): -
Tiny and uncomfortable for a relatively low price. Staff were friendly enough, although they did the bare minimum.
- Tomas (10/5): - For a very reasonable price, it covers all your basic needs. Staff are wonderful too!
- Kacper (8/5): -
- Kevin Kai Ming (8/5): - Good location and the room and bathrooms were clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Budget friendly, you get what you pay for No housekeeping during my stay.
- Hondre (10/5): - Staff was great
- Victor (8/5): - Management was very nice and well versed. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. There was also soap and such and hangers . Showers clean Kitchen area also No A/C . Window open did help to cool the room down but you heard all the street noise . Homeless were pushed down from above 6th Street and above to 6th Street and below. Not the hotel's fault they do keep you safe in and around the hotel
- Chris (8/5): - This hotel is okay
- Julio (3/5): -
- Maaike (3/5): -
- Eric (3/5): Simple place, low price, but area is a bit dangerous at night. - Simple and basic amenities Located near area in Tenderloin. Lots of homeless people outside the hotel. Lots of street commotion and police activity at night. Not very safe for visitors with family.
- Tanu (2/5): - The street is very unsafe where the hotel is located
- Aida (8/5): - The room was very clean the staff was very nice friendly.. the area is like horror movie. I will not be coming back to many ppl walking around out side doing drugs like walking zombies. But the price was good. Still not coming back
- Nelta (6/5): Really Cheap Stay - The place was average. The lights shut off serval times when I had only the fan and my phone pulled in. The place is decent and the worst thing was the homeless people that appeared from 9 pm til morning. It’s very convenient for public transportation. Overall it’s a 5 out of 10
- Chuiko (8/5): -
- Hondre (8/5): -
- Jeffrey (10/5): -
- Okta (10/5): -
- George Boachie (5/5): - The friendly staff The location is 6th Street, one of the worst streets in San Francisco. Noise pollution all night
- Thierry (8/5): - Good price for the quality. It was clean and close to everything.
- Loklin (8/5): -
- Africa Dalila (6/5): -
- Noa (10/5): -
- Jacqueline (4/5): - This hotel was in terrible neighborhood. Homeless were surrounding the hotel. It was very scary at night. They had roaches. The bed was hard as a brick!
- Samuel (4/5): - Clean and well maintained room.
No hangers or wardrobe, no microwave and fridge.
- Larry (8/5): Great value for a clean room. Good access to public transit. - Friendly staff and clean facilities. This place is surprisingly cheap for San Francisco. The neighborhood is of course fairly sketchy, but you feel safe inside. I’ve stayed here twice, and it was surprisingly quiet given the neighborhood.
- Natalia (10/5): Excellent stay for the price - The value for money is excellent. For this price, it is a wonderful place in the center. Of course, there are many homeless people around, but that is not the hotel’s fault — it is a problem of the city There are a huge number of homeless people around, but this is an issue for the city authorities, not the hotel.
- Shaelyn (10/5): - Had a blast, cute lil hostel. Fantastic old elevators! My friend an I were very pleased with our stay!
- Sergio Cavalleri (6/5): Hotel pulito, posizione pericolosa alla sera - Camera ordinata e pulita. Posizione terrificante. Alla sera si ha molta paura.
- Alexander (10/5): Best budget location super clean - Employee super friendly and super nice give you all the information you need I don’t have any complain
- Mary (8/5): I would stay there again - Price, safety despite questionable neighborhood, location to public transportation Neighborhood was a bit questionable
- Anomis.
- Shantal (8/5): - A lot of homeless
- Robert (10/5): - it was a very pleasent stay clean staff was cool only thing was all the dopeheads outside
- Patrick (8/5): - A surprise find in the mid-market/ union square-ish/soma area. So I lived in SF for almost 30 years and there are a couple of places in this big city (
- RudiVargas (8/5): Boa - Tudo, menos a região. Funcionarios
- Paul (8/5): - Sure the immediate streets are full of sketchy peeps, but door is only 60 feet from Market St. So the gauntlet is brief. For the money the room was great and staff are nice, plus there is an elevator and tv in the rooms. For a similar price the Bowery Grand in NYC doesn't come close to this fine hotel.
- Christopher (10/5): Great Service - The staff are kind and very helpful. Grateful
- Narttana (10/5): -
- Christopher (8/5): - The room was clean. There's no parking at the hotel, so parking is inconvenient.
- Christa (10/5): Full of helpful staff and convenient travel! - The staff are AMAZING. Everyone was kind and helpful. I loved the proximity to night life and cultural districts. Public transit was abundant in the area and we were able to reach any place we needed to go. This is one of the cleanest and comfiest hostels I’ve stayed at.
- Belanna (10/5): - Not the fanciest hotel but it’s affordable. Area outside has a high volume of people living on the street and is noisy but feels safe while inside. Staff are friendly and bed was comfortable. Curtain rod had some maintenance issues and water pressure was terrible. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay though I’d choose somewhere else if I had the budget
- Kenneth (10/5): - Hotel is a diamond in the ruff
- Geoffrey Edward (6/5): - The staff are nice and welcoming. The hotel and room, if not a little old, are cozy and not too bad, but my problem is the location, its loud at night and kind of in a iffy place with lots of homeless walking around the area but if you keep to yourself and stay alert you'll be fine.
Hotel is definitely worth the value though and at least its close to the Powell BART station and walking distance to the mall (if that's still around in the future) and Union Square.
- Elisabeth (6/5): - They don’t clean rooms after you check in, staff is very friendly and helpful. The block is full of homeless though.
- Chaxiraxi (8/5): Bien ubicado.
- Kenneth (10/5): - I was (I am) really surprised over the Winsor Hotel.
With the location I was weary however the entire hotel is clean, safe & the office manager Joʻse was more than customer service oriented.
I was impressed from the strart, rooms are basic however clean & perfect for a nomad like myself to rest while traveling.
I was so impressed I decided to extend my stay as I was supposed to check into another hotel but decided to stay.
This Hotel is a true version & meaning of "a diamond in the rough".
Great staff with great attitudes!
I booked quick & did not notice I choose a room w/shared bathroom but this hotel is so clean & calm I did not mind.
I will be placing the Winsor Hotel on a must stay when I'm traveling through.
& YOU CAN NOT OUTDUE THE PRICE. $$
Thank you for the exsperience.
