Le personnel est très gentil. Ryan a été aux petits soins pour nous. Propreté laissant à désirer dans la salle de bain. La vmc faisait beaucoup de bruit dans la salle de bain. La beauté du lieu se fait au détriment de l’intimité ! On avait l’impression de partager les discussions avec les voisins. Disons que c’est « normal » dans une vieille bâtisse Le petit déjeuner continental est très léger. Préférez la version locale
• Mickaël (9/5): Très belle expérience dans cette établissement. - L’authenticité des lieux, l’aimabilité de l’hôtesse Jane, le quartier La lumière du jour et le bruit de l’école peuvent déranger le matin. Prendre boules quies et masque.
• MULLER (9/5): Bel hébergement central tout en restant calme - L'authenticité de ce lieu, joliment décoré et l'emplacement central tout en étant calme. Les bons conseils de Jane pour se restaurer: le restaurant Nyonya Lah by Javu par exemple, au bout de la rue. Le manque de flexibilité des horaires pour prendre le petit déjeuner. Avant 9h, cela s'est révélé impossible. Autant proposer un prix sans petit déjeuner. Voyant notre déception par rapport à ce manque de flexibilité,Jane a cependant fait son maximum le jour de notre départ afin que l'on puisse avoir de quoi manger car nous devions partir à 7h30. Jane nous a donc acheté la veille des croissants et un cookie.

Jane was incredibly helpful with her local knowledge and also arranged a day tour with Mr Lau for us - this was a fantastic day and highly recommended. Definitely value for money. Have to carry luggage upstairs so perhaps not suitable for people with mobility challenges - not an issue for us, just had to be mindful of the headroom going up and down the stairs.

From the moment we walked in, the staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and beautifully designed with a perfect blend of modern style and local charm. The location is ideal, close to all the must-see spots and delicious street food 🌆🍜. Every detail, from the cozy ambiance to the exceptional service, exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting George Town! The room was beautiful and had high ceilings, there is a glass panel which lets in light from the main downstairs building, but they leave the lights on all evening so this shines through into your room and cannot shut it out. Would be nice to have this either off or blinds.
• Sarah (9/5): Excellent value, well located traditional style guesthouse - My daughter and I stayed in the North Studio Suite which was exactly as it looked in the photos. The guesthouse is in a beautiful traditional wooden townhouse combined with a cool, eclectic vibe and was very relaxed. Although we overlooked Love Lane it is at the quieter end so after 11ish there was little noise and we both slept well thx to the comfortable bed and effective air conditioning plus fan - despite the heat wave. Communication with the staff was excellent and they were very accommodating over checkout. We both felt it was excellent value. Nothing I can think of.

• Daniella (9/5): - I had a great stay here. The local breakfast was delicious, warm naan and fresh fruit, simple but good. The location is excellent: peaceful and quiet, yet within walking distance of fun bars and restaurants. The house is full of character and history, with a charming traditional atmosphere. The interior is beautifully done and the bathtub was absolutely amazing. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It’s also a perfect place to sit, relax, have breakfast or read a book. I would definitely stay here again One thing to be aware of: there were quite a few mosquitoes during my stay. The staff seemed to be addressing it, so this may already have improved. Bringing DEET is definitely recommended ( and in general a good idea, as it’s surprisingly hard to find on Penang.)

• Eloise (7/5): Loved being located in Love Lane - The location was excellent as it was right in the heart of George Town near to lots of interesting sights, including a chocolate shop just next door. The old world charm of the decor was also very pleasing. Being an old building also meant doors and floors squeaked and it could be noisy during the night because Love Lane is a popular tourist spot. I am an early riser and like breakfast much earlier than it was served (starting between 8.30 and 9am).

There is a nice sitting area. It was very quiet when we were there, out of season. The breakfast is rather limited. You have to carry your bag up a flight of stairs so it might not be great for those with mobility issues.

• Phillip (8/5): Cool period charm in the heart of Georgetown. - Fantastic location just minutes from all the action. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby but located at the end of Love Lane so was quiet at night. the apartment is situated in a period building and is quirky and very interesting. It feels like an oasis at the end of the day. They also offer tours of the city with a local guide. The reception/staff leave around 7pm each evening so the house is then shut. You need to let yourself in and out which does feel a bit weird. Just pointing this out for reference, it's not really any problem.

Ideally located for walking around and exploring the old centre of Georgetown. Jane is a fabulous host and the room I stayed in had ample space, everything you might need for a comfortable (luxurious even) stay, including a small fridge, a ceiling fan, a/c and water pressure to die for!

On our last night, the whole house smelled like something was burnt. My husband had to go down and check. A wooden house would go up in flames in an instant. Our room had no windows, so nowhere to escape. And no fire escape.

We spent a lot of time just looking at the building, it really is fabulous Not an issue for us at all, but as this is a piece of history, it can be a little noisy. • Azrina (8/5): Gem in Georgetown - The property is beautifully designed, keeping its original charm. We stayed at the Skywell Suite and the room was spacious and charming. Daily breakfast was great. On our last day Jane went the extra mile to get the best mee goreng and kuihs for us. The cleanliness and daily cleaning service were rather poor. Improvement on this part will bring the hotel to the next level.

Generally, I found the place a little tired and need of some maintenance - it looked like there had been nothing done since 2015 (the year it won an award). There were also lots of mosquitoes in the room, and the air-con didn't cool the room, although it was on full for hours. It was so bad my son and I booked another hotel, although we'd paid for another night. In the photos, the place looked a lot better than in reality. Our room faced Love Lane and was noisy at night.

Wij hebben 3 nachten niet kunnen slapen in het hotel. Zeker de suite aan de noordzijde is ongelofelijk gehorig en de bedden zijn hard.. Eigenaar beseft zich onvoldoende hoe erg het geluid is. Je hoort letterlijk elke auto en motor door je kamer.. Na klachten hierover kregen we een kamer aan de andere zijde wat iets beter was. Ook hier helaas geen baby bedje. Al met al waren wij door de herrie, slechte hygiene van de kamer en badkamer en de hitte in de kamers ontevreden. We zijn helaas niet tot rust gekomen in dit hotel en hebben spijt van onze keuze.

• Sarah (10/5): Unique and instantly calm accommodation - Nice to stay in a small independently run hotel with a dedicated small staff, who you can ask anything, from to recommending restaurants to arranging a service wash. They have great local knowledge and want you to get the best out of your stay. The place is relaxed and home like and full of history. You will be staying in a house that still has the intact original design of a 19th century Chinese shop-house, packed with objects from that time. Bathrooms small but you can get clean effortlessly with modern facilities. The You le Yuen is situated on the quietest end of Love Lane away from the bright lights and hustle which you can walk to in a couple of minutes but gratefully retreat from at the end of the evening. Posto che sembra essersi fermato nel tempo, pulito e con tutto il necessario per un soggiorno di qualche giorno. È un posto silenzioso e intimo. Abbiamo adorato le due donne che gestiscono questo posto, attente alle nostre esigenze, fieri di farci provare la colazione locale e sempre pronte a darci consigli su cosa vedere, che ristoranti provare e che esperienze non farsi scappare. Se dovessi tornare lo sceglierei altre mille volte. Al piano terra c’è anche un negozietto di abiti fatti a mano con stampe indiane. Siamo stati soddisfatti. L’unica nota negativa è che essendo un edificio storico e datato purtroppo avrebbe bisogno di manutenzione in alcuni punti. Spero prendano in considerazione la cosa.

• Margaret (7/5): Location is good if you want to be in George Town - The location, the charm of an old historical building The carpet in the room was run down, the room was hot and took hours to cool down enough to be comfortable, the bathroom grouting looked moldy. There are two flights of steep stairs to get to the room. The staff will help you with luggage but be sure you can go up steep stairs. I didn't take breakfast.

• Aukje (7/5): pleasant stay in beautiful house - nice room, in a fun part of town- close to fort Cornwallis and in a street with nightlife- which couldn’t be heard in our room. there is a nice communal area, but in reality no one uses it. staff friendly, but not super attentive. Lady kept pushing a tour they organise- despite us telling her we had a week, not 2 days. aircon wasn’t great, we had them two level room, and off bed had been downstairs, that would have been better. shower didn’t work when arrived, and butgun attachment was open- shower was fixed, but water kept leaking over bathroom floor.

A seguito di un temporale ci è piovuto in camera, sia sul pavimento che su entrambi i letti: in hotel non c'era nessuno e abbiamo dovuto contattare booking. Nonostante fosse stata avvisata da booking, la proprietaria ha aspettato la tarda mattinata per contattarci e ha lasciato detto di cambiarci le lenzuola...cosa che non è stata fatta. L'aria condizionata in camera funziona male.. La colazione è monotona e misera, niente caffè ma solo nescafe... Pulizia in camera migliorabile, c'erano polvere e ciuffi di capelli... Non ci tornerei nonostante la struttura sia molto caratteristica

La chambre suite Skywell était spacieuse avec la salle de bain très grande et un petit salon en mezzanine. Situation bien centrale, mais cette partie de la rue est très tranquille (pas de bar, pas de musique…).

ACHTUNG: Treppen im Haus sind beschwerlich, vor allem mit Gepäck, nicht für jedes Alter empfehlenswert.

Sehr gute Lage. + Das Boutique-Hotel befindet sich in einem 100 Jahre alten Gebäude und umfasst 4 Zimmer. + Die Einrichtung ist schön gewählt und gerade das Erdgeschoss sehr charmant. - Die Möbel sind veraltet, an vielen Stellen kaputt und müssen erneuert werden. Ein Scharnier an der Schranktür ist defekt, die beiden Stühle / Sitze auf dem Balkon sind durchgebrochen, das Batteriefach vom Tresor ist leer und korrodiert. - Die Sauberkeit sollte für den Standard / Preis des Hotels besser sein. Die Dusche ist verkalkt, Schimmel scheint sich in den Fugen zu bilden, hinter der offenen Badewanne sammelt sich Schmutz, Bodenabfluss muss gereinigt werden. - Die Zimmer sind sehr hellhörig und für empfindliche Personen nicht geeignet. - Die Abtrennung zum Badezimmer ist bezüglich Lautstärke / Geruch nicht optimal. - Zum Frühstück kann im Vorfeld zwischen einer einheimischen und westlichen Variante gewählt werden. Das einheimische Frühstück war lecker, variiert jedoch nicht. Zu unserem Abreisetag, gegen 06:00 Uhr morgens, gab es kein Wasser / Obst oder Ähnliches zum Mitnehmen bzw. wurde nicht angeboten.

• Jacqui (10/5): Beautiful accommodation, beautiful Host and in the heart of Georgetown! - Beautifully restored Georgetown Villa with on 4 rooms. It was private, quiet and in a perfect location to explore as a Base. Jane is a fabulous host and I will be returning again soon! Breakfast was amazing, I had the choice of Western / Local breakfast. The local was amazing!! Definitely recommend this stay :) Nothing
