Guest Reviews
- Charlotte (8/5): good hotel - Nice staff, great location, good room, everything you need for a budget stay!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean, spacious and good location with affordable prices.
- Barbro (8/5): Stay here! - A relly nice hotel for a pleasant price
- Carlos (8/5): Good place. - The hotel is at the average , closer to anything you need , in the enter, the staff is very kind!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Lack of privacy due to window that doesn’t close all the way + noise + cockroach
- David (6/5): Great location.Great Staff. - Basic Hotel.Staff were very helpful & pleasant to me.
Very central.
I would be reluctant to eat street food in view of the number of rats i saw in the area.
- Katie (8/5): - You get what you paid for. Location is great! Staffs are wonderful. Breakfast is ok. 3 menus plus 2 kids of fruits usually banana and watermelon. Overall this is a wonderful 2*hotel with a fantastic location!
- Elena (8/5): - Excellent service and very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Wifi was poor, shower was lacking and very thin walls.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location for a reasonable price. Breakfast is good with very good coffee. Room is very small and the wifi connection is poor. We wanted to check out at 14 instead of 12, and they said they charge half a day for it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Value for money - Good service and good location!
- bernard (8/5): Good location - Better to get a separate room if there's three of yourselves as it's cheaper than to top up and share a room with larger space.
Staff makes huge effort to follow procedures and give clear directions. English was decent and understandable. Doorman was very attentive to guests. Room door lock quality was telling as it was a little filmsy. Still safe, but u could open the door from inside even when locked (not supposed to).
Main grief was the water pressure. Not exactly a drip but it was hard to shower with the weak flow.
Good location to nearby market and shopping malls. Do check out the foot massage just a few shops down. The immediate exterior environment might look glum but we felt safe walking to the main road. Overall decent. Not for fussy travellers.
Breakfast will be fine. Noodles, bread, fruits, coffee machine.
- Lim Ang Meng (8/5): Good for short stay - Good, friendly staff
- Poraphat (8/5): - Good place to stay in Yangon, great location which is walkable to many places
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice staff and location but a bit noisy
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was near to so many places i want to visit. Walkable distance to the market, food stalls and etc
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location to see most of the sights such as market and old town. On a crowded one way street off the main street.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This hotel is in a great location. It is within short walking distance to great markets and restaurants. Sule Pagoda is also only a few minutes walk away.
- norhazreen (10/5): - The staff are all nice and helped me a lot during the stay
- Philip (8/5): Value for money - Highly recommended for a brief stay in Yangon. The location is excellent and the hotel and actual room are simple and not luxurious, but clean and very comfortable. Ideal for a good rest between bouts of exploring the city and for a good night's sleep at the end of the day. Not a place for enjoying facilities (no pool or other features) but if you don't have unlimited budget and prefer to spend money on other things, forget the Shangri-La next door and enjoy more of the real Myanmar and its people, which will give you memories for a life time.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent location - Nice hotel just behind Sule Shangri-La with a very good location. Close to shopping Malls and attractions.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean Hotel - Nice and clean room. hotel staff are friendly and help us to carry our luggage to room. All is well but at night is quite noisy. I dont know the sound from where but is not that comfort for those light sleeper.
The location is behind Shangri-La Hotel.
- J (6/5): Average hotel with good hotel service from staff - Overall average. Location was not straightforward to find. There is another different hotel called Clover City Centre Plus just next to it.
- Up (8/5): Good location for city tour - We stayed at Clover city Center for 2 nights, hotel receptions seem confused when many guests come at the same time, so we had to wait about 15-20 mins for check-in, anyway hotel staffs are friendly and helpful.
We got the room on 8 floor which is the highest floor.
There is only one small elevator.
The room was clean, we found that air conditioner in our room didn't work, so we call hotel staffs and they fixed it within 20 mins.
About the the bathroom, their design is weird for me, there is no separation between wet and dry area as we could found as usual, and shower area is close to the door instead of wash basin or toilet, but it function anyway.
During our 2 nights, the breakfast is all the same, you can only choose what would you like to drink.
- LJ (4/5): Bed bugs - Stayed in room 506 and experienced bed bug bites on my right arm near my elbow. The bite marks line up and that's usually a sign of bed bugs, although the room looks clean. Room was also a bit small. Good amenities like free bottled water, glass cups, instant coffee, kettle and hair dryer. Reasonable price with good location.
- Alice (6/5): Could have been better stay - Checkin alright, nice to receive welcome drink. No separate shower cubicle so toilet gets wet, even
toilet seat, after shower.
- Chris (8/5): Great Location - Nice location just 2 blocks from Sule Pagada and close to the market. The only negative is that the street of the hotel is very crowed, a little difficult to walk due to the amount of business and cars. Not a fancy street.
- stoh (10/5): good location worthy stay! - behind Sule Shangri la, 5min off Sule Pagoda, nearby Scott mkt, Junction city and little India street and not far off Shwedagon pagoda. New hotel, 24hr reception and room service.. great I like it recommended!!
- robert (10/5): Hidden Gem among many mediocre hotels - We stayed one night in this hotel. At first, we were hesitant, because the entrance was not on the main road, it was down an alley. Upon entering the staff was very welcoming. We stayed on the 8th floor. The room was very clean and well kept. Everything worked as expected. The bed was comfortable. The room was very quiet at night which was a pleasant surprise being that the last few places we stayed were very noisy. downtown Yangon is a very loud city.
I was impressed with the breakfast and the choices of coffee available. They had several staff members busily preparing and bringing breakfast to your table.
Overall, for a 3 star hotel I was very impressed and would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good to stay. Suitable price. Good location. Friendly staff.
- Lim (8/5): Second home - Very decent place to stay if u don't mind d alley. My second time here. Staff extremely courteous. Centrally located. My second home
- Mashuk (8/5): Nice hotel - Service was great. Great neighborhood. A lot of historical places are around the hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location. Comfortable hotel. - Good location. Good and friendly service frI'm all the staff.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Staff very helpful. Excellent for walking to the Sule Pagoda, colonial houses, Chinatown, art galleries, markets.
- Roger (4/5): Great location but..... - Nice hotel, good location, friendly staff. Downside, Only one elevator and shower/toilet bathroom not a highlight. I asked for a cab once and was told to go up the street. Part of the charm of Myanmar remember to keep expectations low. I'm not sure I would recommend this hotel but it's certainly adequate, clean and central.
- Verified traveler (10/5): convinience place, safe, clean - very comfortable hotel.I am sure I will stay back again.
- s.tipwareerom (6/5): score 4/5 in yangon but in worldwide will be 2/5 - located in city center. the room better than other hotel in yangon but not good enough. bathroom got stinky smell from floor drain so the door must always closed for prevent smell came outside.
breakfast comes in set and will be same everyday. anyway thats are all clean. that's good.
in conclusion this hotel not worth money when compare to hotel in other countries in southeast asia. however it's hard to find other hotel better than this one at the same price in yangon. for me, i will never stay again if i have other choices.
decide it with caution.
- Chanikan (8/5): Great location - The hotel is clean and the staff are very helpful and friendly. They also let me check in early as i arrive super early in the morning even though they didnt found my reservation yet due to the system error so highly recommded :)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room smells.
- Joseph (8/5): Middle of town & walking distance to everything - Hotel was easy to get to and Rooms were available as booked on line.
- Alice (6/5): - room size is decent for short stay, I stayed for 2 separate nights, before and after an domestic trip. the first night i was given an family size room on higher floor, therefore, very comfy. The 2nd night, i was given a standard room on the lower floor which there is strong smell coming from the toilet. The aircon blower also not serviced, so have a dusty smell.
- chi (8/5): Staff are very friendly - Good loction and very friendly staff
Budet hotel,room is clean.
if you looking for a budget price hotek then
this hotel is good.
料金が安く室内も清潔。特にベッドシーツが綺麗で気持ち良かった。場所も便利。
ただ、シャワーとトイレが一緒で仕切りがないのがちょっと困った。
スタッフも対応が良い。お勧めです。
- SITI A'DILAH (8/5): Recommended hotel - Room was spacious and clean. Bed was big and comfortable. Staff was friendly and attentive. They tried their best to understand with their minimal grasp of English. Location was good; near eateries. There was, however, blackouts taking place at least twice/day.
- BIBIANNA (8/5): Convenient and clean hotel. - Do beware of staining their bed linens with your hair dye or the like. Even if it is a minor stain, if we are foreigners, they will charge you for laundry. Fortunately, our Burmese friend helped us. So we didn't have to pay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Conveniant clean hotel, great location - Hotel in downtown Yangon, close to everything (train station 3min walk, scot market around corner, sule pagoda 5min walk). Clean, aircon, comfy beds, great staff.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Clean and comfortable and good city location. Staff friendly and helpful with good selection of food as well.
- Boonyasit (8/5): Good location, cleanliness and very helpful staff - Hotel location is nearby Scott market, Sule pagoda and many local street foods.
Room is a bit small but very clean, it's suitable with what you pay.
Staff is very nice and helpful.
- Ann (8/5): really great staff - Very comfortable, lovely helpful staff, wonderfully clean sheets & towels,
good food available
- Wendy (6/5): Friendly staffs - Excellent location. Extremely friendly and helpful staffs. Basic room.
- Tor (10/5): good and reasonable price - This hotel located in center of Yangon, near Sule Pagoda. The cost of taxi between the hotel and airport should not over 8000-10000 Ks. from hotel to Shwedagon Pagoda should not over 5000 Ks. The room is clean. The reception can speak Thai and English Languages.
- Robert (8/5): Clover - good location with helpful friendly staff
- Jack (8/5): near to main attraction, near to train station - overall is a simple hotel location in city
near to train station and Slue Pagoda
lobby is located at level 3
- Allan (8/5): Good Moderately Priced Hotel - Great breakfast. Hotel is centrally located, near the markets, Sule pagoda, railway station. Staff were very helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location, but construction - Wonderful staff, hotel has the same feel of minimalism i now see at many mid -tier places. Simple and clean. Toilet and shower and a/c and wifi work. Only negative, construction across street, but only problem during the day. I would return! Also, walking distance to most things, and cheap taxis get you to outer suburbs.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice location with excellent staff - Second time staying at this hotel. Very good manner staff. Nice location, close to chinatown, near KFC and small department store. You can have breakfast there.
Toilet could be cleaner.
Overall is good.
- René (10/5): - A great location if you want to stay near the center, but still quiet when sleeping.
The staff was very helpfull and speaks great english.
The location is 10 minutes walk from chinatown, which is absolutely worth a visit.
As soon as you leave the door, you are right in the middle of the bhurmese culture, which makes it very easy to find eating places and much more.
The room was clean and the beds were great.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Holiday in Yangon - The water from the shower heads are very slow and under powered. The TV is mounted almost to the ceiling which makes sitting up and watching TV very tiring for the neck. Alternatively, you could lie down for watching TV with you face or eyes tilted downwards at an angle (instead of direct up the ceiling) towards the TV, it'll be a strain on your neck or eyes too. It's just not natural and in such position your eyes get tired easily (I wonder if that's the ideal to get customers doze off soon).
Given the facilities, size and condition of the hotel, it's over-priced as compared to many other SE Asian countries.
- Hann (8/5): Very pleasant hotel in a great location - The 2 hotel staff I interacted with speaks perfect English, and they were awesome people who are very willing to share. Hotel room is very clean and level of comfort is pegged at what you paid for. However, the noise from the construction just across the street is unbearable. They finished work very late at night and started very early. This isn't the hotel's fault, but the lack of blackout curtain make it just more difficult to get more rest. Breakfast is fine, a little on the higher side. Other food ordered are decent and priced fairly. Wifi like any other hotel in Yangon, is crawling.
- Annabelle (4/5): Exxy for Backpacker Hotel ! - Too expensive for the bare minimum offered in facilities- eg: nowhere to hang clothes . Ok for backpackers on brief stay but would they pay the price??
- Mavin (8/5): - Wifi is slow, rather switch to 3G. Bathroom is too simple, not enough vanity space. Other than that, room is spacious and clean.
- Harjit (8/5): Surprisingly good - We enjoyed our stay.breakfast could be a little better.
- Tamila (4/5): Cockroaches, construction noise, super tiny rooms - Staff were unprofessional, awkward and not knowing anything about hospitality. Breakfast is a joke. Last day was crowned by seeing cockroaches running around the room. Construction noise is pretty loud coming from the street.
The room is so tiny that we were bumping knees on the bed when squeezing past it.
There is a strong unpleasant smell all over the hotel.
The location is fine, but the street is super dodgy for women when dark.
- Ken (8/5): Good location for sightseeing - Wonderful location for shopping, eating and walking. Reasonable price for a clean and comfortable room. Receptionists are all very friendly and kind. Only problems are slow internet and only one elevator.
- Teo (6/5): Comfortable enough - Room was slightly small but decent nevertheless
- David (8/5): Clover stay - Good hotel. Basic features but centerally located and staff were helpful
- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent, great place to stay - Staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make your stay as good as possible. Nothing is a problem and they go above and beyond to help you. The room was very good. My only small very minor issue was the water pressure in the shower.
- Janet (10/5): Great hotel would highly recommend - The staff could not help more. The room was spotless and the location great
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location but simple - The hotel has a good location close to major tourist attractions. It is fairly simple with clean rooms and fair facilities. The wi fi is not very fast and it offers a good breakfast (if not in your room rate, for a reasonable price). At night street lightning is not strong and there are not many restaurants nearby.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice stay yet not perfect - My friend & I had only six hours or less in this hotel. Staying time though was short, we had quite a good staying experience. The staff are great. We need to leave the hotel by 6am to airport, breakfast officially would only start from 7am. But the staff was so kind to prepare toast (specially made for us, HOT!), a nice puff (unfortunately this was cold) and banana for us to eat on our way to airport.
The room was bright and clean, unforunately the water flow of the shower was really tooooo slow and small. It took us double the normal time to shower in this hotel. Lucky we decided to take shower separately , one showered at night and the one in the morning, else we might had to rush leaving the hotel to catch the flight as we did NOT expect such a long time was needed.
The hotel located in a very narrow street.
- Asanka (10/5): Great place, great staff, great value for money - Great place, great staff, great value for money.
Cant speak highly enough.
Stayed here 3 times in yangon
- Asanka (8/5): Friendliest staff in Yangon - Friendly staff, good value. Wifi is a bit slow but thats the case anywhere & everywhere.
Good location
- Verified traveler (10/5): highly recomended - near to perfect
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very near faultless
- Verified traveler (8/5): Contented!!! - Very comfortable, safe, clean & convinient!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good hotel - The hotel was in a good location; we could walk to the main areas. The room was in good condition and the staff was nice.
- William (8/5): Hotel in the city area - It took me a few moments to locate the hotel. But once I got there, I realized that it's actually very close to the other main road! The entrance is in an alley, but you should not be afraid. In fact, it's super close to probably the tallest building in Yangon Shang-ri La hotel. The check-in is hassle-free and check-out also didn't take me too much time. The aircon worked very well (Yangon is super hot when I was there, over 38 C degrees!). Yes, I like it.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Review - Room is big but there's a smell in the room. No much amenities.
- Benjamin (8/5): Good Location! - Good location, convenient, friendly staff, close to China town. Great street food nearby.
- Karen (8/5): Basic but clean - Room was basic, clean, modern and a nice size. The one drawback was that the bathroom did not have an enclosed shower -- it was just a shower nozzle on the wall. When you turned it on, most everything in the bathroom got wet. It was cute that the hotel provided flip flops for you to wear in the bathroom. The area was interesting -- lots of street life just outside the door and China Town and Little India were within easy walking distance. The breakfast was actually very good and included a variety of regional dishes -- served to you by the staff. Hotel staff was nice and helpful but had a little difficulty speaking English. They arranged a driver to take us around the area and the price was very reasonable.
- KESONI (10/5): clean & friendly staff - enjoyrd our stay. very central location
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic, clean, not very comfortable - The hotel is located behind the Shangri-La, so easy to find. The rooms are clean, if basic. Most fittings appear to be quite new and the room is fine for the price (at least in relation to average prices in Yangon). The two main issues are that the pillows are extremely uncomfortable and there is a lot of ambient noise from the street, even until the early hours. Wifi is also very unstable and works only 50% of the time. The hotel is OK, but you are unlikely to have a very comfortable stay even within this price bracket.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location near centre - Sule Pagoda. - Only drawback was very slow, sometime non-functional w-fi
- Verified traveler (6/5): Would probably stay here again - The hotel is well located, close to china town and markets, a 30min walk to major temples and a 20min walk to the jetty. Hotel staff were pleasant, allowed us to check in early after our overnight bus from Mandalay, also allowed us to have breakfast on early check in as our checkout was very early so that we still received a breakfast that we paid for. The Wifi was ok. Breakfast was ok.
- George (8/5): Best side of Old Town Yangon - Very convenient location to see Old Town of Yangon, including Chinatown and Sule Pagoda. Found the best briyani dish we have ever had just 50meters away, and that is saying something, given that we are from Singapore and tasted lots. Flew to Bagan from here, leaving our bags in room safely overnight.
- Patrick (8/5): Basic - Small room. Easy to get around from this location. However expensive relative to what one gets. Breakfast is served standard to everyone and is pretty much the same fare everyday.
- david (10/5): Perfect Location with Great Staff - Located in the heart of Yangon, Clover City Center is walking distance to the Sule Pagaoda, four movie theatres and the Yangon train station as well as many restaurants and markets. The hotel staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and informative.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Handily placed to the city. - Not a bad place to stay at all - might even go back
- sady (4/5): Center of downtown yangon - Hotel is center of yangon but crowdy and dirty environment area if you love clean and quite place better choice other place.
- Avis (4/5): Should be better managed - Overall the facilities themselves are good, but they need to be better managed with better trained staff:
- I booked through Expedia and sent an email to confirm my room which they replied. Upon my arrival, they cannot find my booking and require me to provide deatiled information (i.e.) when did I book the room). I ended up with a double-bed room after half an hour.
- The housekeeping staff went in my room without knocking the door at all at 7am in the morning the first day.
- There are ants, a lot of them, in the room hiding. I left a opened potato chips on the table and the ants are all over it the next morning.
- I brought cup noodle for breakfast, open it and eat it. I left it on the table and I am very surprised the Housekeeping staff did not throw it away.
- The fridge is not even working at all.
- When you bath, the whole bathroom will be wet, including the toilet paper, your clothes.
- I did not book breakfast together with the room. I try to go down to have one on the second morning. The staff reacted as if I have commited a crime. Paid 5,000 kyat (USD5) for the breakfast, never try it again.
Overall I guess I cannot ask too much for a budget hotel, but certainly the staff can be better trained. They are nice but just don't know what to do to be good.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Acceptable - Overall is good but have to improve on the breakfast....everyday same breakfast...
- Al & Mei (6/5): Good budget hotel - We stayed 5 nights at the hotel and had no complaints about our room. The room is kind of small, but it is quiet and clean. They don't provide tea bags so if you're a tea drinker, do bring your own. It is a good budget hotel.
- Garwing (8/5): Would Recommend This Downtown Clean Hotel - Short 1 night stay. Small but clean, comfortable and functional room. Good aircon/tv. Nice staff. Allowed us to check out an hour later than the check out time. Good location within walking distance of the market, downtown and train station.
- Russ (6/5): Close to centre of Yangon - A bit overpriced. Not value for money, expected a lot more.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Heart of city.. - Clean...nothing special.. Nothing to complain..stayed 2 nights ..clean beds..
- Couple (6/5): Good location - Well located to get around Yangon. Hotel staff, good English and very helpful. Rooms quite small and very small bathroom. Extremely comfortable bed.
- Rajesh_India (8/5): Close to the Scots Market and Railway Station - + Inexpensive
+ Walking Distance to good places to see
+ Good Restaurants in walking distance
- Small Toliet & Bath Area
- Odour
wifi was ok.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Meets expectation - It's basic. small but functional, and location is good.
- Ladies (8/5): Good for a 3 Star Hotel - Hotel is conveniently located although in an alley-like street. Taking a cab is so easy and cheap about 1500 krat or 2000 krat from hotel to place of interest with 5 of us in a cab. Streets in Yangon are truly in need of a good clean-up. However, people are nice and it is safe to move around. Breakfast is continental and it's almost the same everyday, the variation being the chicken meat is cooked differently. We skipped our 4th morning and last breakfast and went to Strand Hotel on a Sun morning, a beautiful colonial old building, to have a sumptuous breakfast.
- M (8/5): Brilliant location - me and my partner really enjoyed this hotel, it's right next to Shangri-la, so the location is unbeatable - it's close to main roads and markets and everything is within walking distance. the staff were all so friendly and helpful, making the stay enjoyable.
my only grouse is that the wifi connection is patchy and we couldn't get any wifi signal in our 7th storey room. Well, it's a minor complain, as internet everywhere in Myanmar is rather horrible.
