Guest Reviews
- Marion (8/5): - central location opposite the Rideau Canal and short walk to the Rideau Centre, Bywar Market. Swimming pool and gym are open. Have to pay $25 for additional linen/towels which was a bit much given my extended stay so they gave to me complementary. A Subway and Freshii store downstairs.
- Brandon A. (10/5): Fantastic stay - Was a fantastic stay despite the growing concerns of illness shutting down some ammenities like the pool. Overall though, would book again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was perfect. I will definitely use this accommodations again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We loved the location, close to the canal, shopping, restaurants, and sights to see! Communication from Corporate Stays is sparse. Check-in information didn't come in until the day before and we left one day early and hadn't received any communication. They did respond by email but it would have helped to receive checkin and out information earlier.
The unit was clean and modern but the furniture was worn and there needed to be more more seating as there was only a love seat and chair in the lounging area which makes it hard for 4 people to sit and lounge.
It would have been great to have a reference sheet for information like where garbage/recycling goes and what exactly is recycled, where to find the pool, what other amenities are available in the building.
Pool was great, we were the only ones who used it the whole time we were there. The gym was well equipped and used as we consistently saw people using it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The apartment was large and the master bed was very comfortable.
- Kristina (8/5): clean, comfortable and within walking distance - Very happy with our stay. Staff excellent and very accommodating. Beautiful, fresh, white linen bedding and very comfortable bed. Everything was clean and presentable. Having the convenience of a full kitchen and sitting room with separate bedroom is the best! Especially nice was that we could bring our dog. Pet fee seemed a little high though. Perfect location, close to so many attractions, food and shopping, all within walking distance. I would stay here again if visiting Ottawa and would absolutely recommend 50 Laurier by CorporateStays!
- Les (10/5): - Excellent location. Close to city bus network. Close to many points of interest. Clean. Secure.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very Large suites in a great location.
Minimal IKEA style furniture, no carpets, plain white walls.
Building advertises itself as Luxury rentals, but it is no where near luxury.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location is great, pool and gym are nice. Would have been awesome if the kitchen had had essentials, like sugar and salt, coffee and filters. Otherwise it was perfect!
- St. Clement's School Z. (8/5): great stay in Ottawa - Clean, great facilities and great location!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect stay - Perfect from A to Z
- David Man Yiu (10/5): - Very good
- John (10/5): Five stars - We found everything great, couldn’t find any thing wrong
- Jean Francois (6/5): This is not an hotel - No reception desk. Surprise extra cleaning charge of $99. Hard to contact anybody working there.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location is excellent, and front door staff very good. Check-in was ok.
The condo was poorly furnished with then only seating for two on the one very well loved old loveseat, the beds extremely soft, carpet very worn, 1ply toilet tissue, no kleenex. No kitchen starter kit, so no salt & pepper, no coffee filters, no ice cubes nor ice cube tray. Definately not furnished as per the ad photo.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice fully furnished apartment - All you need is groceries
Nice fully furnished apartment
- Julia (10/5): Winterlude Getaway - Stayed for 3 nights. Checkin was super easy and quick. Underground parking is secure and heated which is great in the winter and only $10 a night which is a steal for city parking . The building is in a great location, walking distance to many attractions. Just off the canal so great for skating on the canal. The two bedroom apartment was nicely furnished and comes with a fully stocked kitchen. The apartment is quite spacious. Beds were comfy. Overall we had a great stay.
- Istvan (10/5): On business in Ottawa - Ideal place to stay if you are on business (or personal). I am spending the weekdays there. It is almost as good as home. They have washer/dryer (washing detergent provided) full kitchen and direct underground parking in the exact centre of town. I absolutely recommend it
- Hee Jung (10/5): good for family - location is good and good place to stay for family.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent - Clean, quiet, central location, comfortable and well-appointed rooms, secure, very affordable, underground parking available. I highly recommend 50 Laurier Ave East.
- Paul (6/5): Great location - Everything about the place was very nice with the exception of 2 things; there wasn't any soap for the bathroom and we forgot to bring some.... And the $99 extra fee was ridiculous. $99 to swap sheets and towels. The "rules" of the room advised I was responsible to do the dishes, clean the place up perfectly but for the bed sheets and towels.... WHAT WAS MY $99 FOR THEN?
- Romy (2/5): This is not a hotel, it's filthy and rundown - This place is not a hotel. I arrived from an international flight at 10PM. Within seconds I was hit by the most nauseating, revolting stench. It was a combination of animals, body odor, stale cigarette smoke, fried cooking spices and cooking burnt oil. The room was old and in poor repair. The carpet was worn, torn, stained and sticky underfoot. The towels in the bathroom were old and as rough as sandpaper. There was black mould around the edges of the bath and the tub was stained and dirty. There was human hair everywhere. At 10PM there was little I could do but open windows. The next day I was covered in bites that are yet to heal, either fleas or bed bugs. The "hotel" manager arrived to "check me in" that afternoon. She told me to sleep with the windows open and said the previous guests had lived there for six months and were cooking ethnic food. I could not believe it. I woke both nights unable to sleep because of the smell of the bed and pillows, clearly someone had slept on the bed without changing the sheets for weeks/months and the smell of body odor and sweat had seeped into the mattress. This was advertised on Expedia as a hotel not a private rental. The place was worse than a $50 airport motel. The cost was $USD657 for three nights and I could not cancel. There was no room service whatsoever and before my departure I received an email instructing me to clean the apartment, leave it how I found it and take my trash.
- Carlos (10/5): Well located and clean - Stayed at the location for a weekend. The room was clean and comfortable. It's important to keep in mind that this isn't a typical hotel with a 24-hour front desk. With that said, having arrived well after the posted check-in hours posed no problem. Would stay at this location again.
- Karen (4/5): The old Switcheroo - Unfortunately the night before we left we were contacted by Corporate Suites that the two bedroom we rented had just been flooded. We chose this company for our vacation due to its proximity to the sites with a pool and parking. At the last minute we were switched to another building with no pool AND no parking which we were told we now had to pay 13 plus tax per day to park down the street 5 levels down in the furthest parking space with no elevator access at a Sobey's. Ugh. No pool so no swim...don't know why I brought the swim bag ! It gets better, they did not have the apartment size we had initially committed to renting so Corporate Suites put a cot, yes a cot jammed in a small bedroom with another twin size bed. Guess I will bring my son to the chiropractor. Had to cut vacation short by one day and of course Corporate Suites went the non-refundable route on that one. They agreed to pick-up the two days of parking and thats it. What a horror show from start to finish. I will say the staff were excellent and friendly. Personally, I would not use their services again and will go screaming back to the Marriott and Hilton for my trips. Next time I will book much sooner into a more reputable Hotel. It is appauling being charged the same rate for an apartment not nearly the size to the one you booked. Bait and Switch.
- Alexis (10/5): Impressive Suite in Perfect Location - Fantastic unit, was so impressed with the size - it's huge. Bathrooms are clean and modern, Bedrooms are large with views of the beautiful city, including the river and University. Beds were soooooo comfortable. The building was upscale, quiet and clean. Will stay here every time we go to Ottawa, you can't beat it. Highly recommend.
- rick (8/5): Great location, linen is utilitarian. - Super place 5minutes walk to everything.
Parking is good but hard to find at first
Secure, safe, clean pool, only 4 ft deep
Needs a cozy blanket and soft towels. If you can bring them with you
- Natalia (10/5): Perfect stay - Very good location in downtown, close to all attractions, comfortable and clean apartment, has all you need for short or long stay. Definitely will return.
- Mark (8/5): Spacious 2 bedroom apartment - Spacious two bedroom apartment, clean and in a nice building with a pool, sauna and gym in the lobby. Walking distance from the canal and the Byward Market. Overall very happy with the booking!
- Maureen (10/5): Home Away From Home In Downtown Ottawa - We were pleasantly surprised by our apartment at 50 Laurier in downtown Ottawa. The apartment didn't look cluttered and was decorated with modern furnishings and bedding. There was one bedroom with a king bed, a living room with dining alcove, and kitchenette. We also had a foyer and laundry room. Between the bedroom and the bathroom there were two large closets. Then apartment was across the street from a University of Ottawa building and was near to museums and government buildings. There is a parking garage on premises for an extra fee. We were quite happy with this accommodation and found that we lacked for nothing. There was soap available for the dishwasher. Before doing laundry I bought some detergent at the local Metro grocery store but when loading the machine, I found that there were detergent pods for the laundry supplied. This was a wonderful place to stay and if we return to Ottawa, we will stay here again.
- Anna (10/5): I love this place - Great place very clean luxury unit, the support staff Stefano is so kind & helpful
- Linda (8/5): Great location - The location of this suite is excellent, with many of Ottawa's attractions an easy walk away. It is not a hotel, so there are no hotel type services or amenities. The beds were comfortable, the furnishings were minimal but serviceable. The carpet needs to be replaced and detracts from the overall impression. It would have been nice to have a small starter basket of coffee and tea as is common in suite hotels. Be aware that check-in has to be arranged in advance. The building security staff were very pleasant and helpful, as was the Corporate Stays representative who met us on arrival.
- Megan (8/5): Like living in Ottawa - Great 2 bedroom apartment close to shopping and dinning. Safe, walkable neighborhood near the University. Parking was $10 per night extra that we had to pay in cash upfront at the desk while checking in. The building is a rental unit, not a hotel so there is no housekeeping. They did have a washer/dryer to clean soiled towels or bedding if needed.
My only complaint is that the couch in our apartment was incredibly uncomfortable--to the point that we didn't even want to sit on it.
Overall, I would book here again.
- Kimberley (10/5): Great location - We stayed at Laurier 50 Apartments for 3 nights and our stay was excellent.. The manger was very helpful ahead of our stay and also during our stay.
The apartment had everything we needed to enjoy our stay.
The location was excellent. We were able to walk everywhere. The price for parking was very reasonable.
The only thing that I think could be improved is the carpet. It was badly stained, but other then that I would highly recommend this hotel/apartment
- craft (8/5): Spacious, convient and comfy - Great location and close to all. Great checkin and awesome amenities
- William (10/5): Close to Byward Market and Rideau Centre - Spacious well-furnished apartment. Bathrooms and kitchen a little dated but very clean and comfortable.
- Kevin (8/5): - The room was great but wished the cleaning was inclisded in the price.
- Steven (10/5): Awesome condo in the heart of it all - Great place, highly recommend, will be staying here again for my future trips to Ottawa. Nit picky thing the Internet is 3mbps could be faster....like I said being nit picky :)
- Verified traveler (4/5): Close to downtown - Furniture was hard to sit on, no TV in bedrooms, dryer vent broken had to fix, water damage ceiling, construction outside start at 5 am ended 11 pm. Was asked to leave keys and fog in the room problem was l got locked in the underground parking. Needed fog to get out.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Scam for extra$ - Without Prejuidice- I am writing to complain about the services of housekeeping at the Ottawa hotel. My husband and I stayed in room 1003 we are both in our sixties and not wild people- Housekeeping did not provide any services during our two day stay. Housekeeping sent a photo of sheets that appear to have period blood on them and said that we will be charged for the purchase of new sheets at a rate of $50. I have not had my menses in 15 years. When we left the hotel, the sheets on the bed we slept in were still clean- the unit was left in the same condition as when we arrived with us removing all the trash and leaving the towels in the bathroom- I am certain that the photo of the sheets certainly did not come from the room that we used. I am very upset that we are being scammed into paying extra $50 to the Ottawa facility.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Suite hotel downtown Ottawa - Exceeded expectations. The suite representative met me on time and was extremely helpful. Look forward to staying there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Luxury apartments close to everything - Staying in an apartment rather than a hotel led to a much quieter stay, with the ability to relax and cook a meal in the evening. Perfect for business trips, and for families.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Would not return. Room was nice, but not enough support for short stays.
- William (8/5): vacation - We loved it and all the amenities except for the couch that we found really uncomfortable, also we were under the impression that there was a hot tub in the active Centre. Other than that it was loved and would have liked a later check out time.
- Audra (8/5): Very impressed - great location and accommodations - I would definitely stay again provided they work out some of the little things I spoke to them about such as having coffee available at least for first morning, and a few other minor amenities. Location was great - staff were very helpful. Condo was beautiful and very comfortable and all so affordable- 4 star accommodations at a very reasonable price - highly recommend
- Helen (6/5): Nice building with a good location - Nice building with a great pool and sauna. The location was very good - walking distance to Winterlude activities, the canal, Rideau Centre and Byward Market. We booked two apartments for two families. Both apartments were roomy, but cheaply furnished. Such a shame. The furniture was low-end Ikea furniture, the kind you buy when furnishing an apartment for university student (not the nice stuff you see in the Ikea commercials). The beds were not very comfortable - a thin mattress on a low platform with a very thin comforter... the kind you get in one of those 'bed in a bag' kits for $39. A far cry from the Westin's heavenly bed.
The most frustrating part of our hotel stay was trying unsuccessfully to arrange for underground parking. The building security guard was unable to provide us with a parking pass, this could only be arranged through the corporate head office. Nobody answered our calls on the long weekend, so we had to find parking elsewhere.
While we loved the extra space of a condo (over a tiny hotel room), it was not enough to compensate for the poor quality furnishings and uncomfortable bed.
- valerie (8/5): Lots of space, full kitchen, much more comfortable - this condo was very clean, bed was very comfortable. It was great having the full kitchen. We used the fitness room, pool and sauna. Will defi itely stay here again.
- Leo (10/5): Nice Apartment - Coming from Asia the weather in Ottawa was a shock and it was nice to have a nice warm apartment with lots of sunshine pouring in through the windows.
- Verified traveler (10/5): close to the mall - it was child friendly...nice place to go if you want to walk and park the car
- Verified traveler (10/5): It's an apartment, Not a little kitchenette. - I was expecting a little kitchenette suite in a hotel, and was thrilled when it turned out to be a one bedroom apartment in an apartment building. NOTE: it's an apartment building, so no lobby bar and no taxi stand outside, no room service.
GREAT PLACE. Great value.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent - Great place to stay at a good price In a good location. Not a hotel, but staff very convenient In the building.
