Guest Reviews
- Karen (10/5): Nice place - Location location location. Perfect local. Apartment was clean but aged beds were uncomfortable
- Stacey (8/5): - Property looked a little rough. Not super clean.
- Michelle (6/5): - The condo was not as advertised. Was not directly on the beach. Parking was almost impossible. The condo toilet leaked around the base. The handles on the kitchen cabinets kept falling off. The wifi did not work. It was advertised as having 3 tvs, but only 2. Very unsatisfactory.
- Jessica (8/5): - Enjoyed that there was so much to do on the property, just wish the checkout time was a little later
- Cory (8/5): - We stayed for about a week. Nice property, small minor things in the unit but all around nice place. Some pools were closed due to weather (which is expected). Still managed to take a dip and relax. Walking distance to many places to eat and shop!
- Stacey (10/5): - Nice condo fir a family vacation. Pool and lazy river were great. Beach access with several
Options.
- Héctor (10/5): - Amazing family oriented place. I will recommend it
- Wendy (10/5): - Beyond nice, friendly, and clean. A ton to do without leaving we will definitely be back
- Dana (6/5): - I loved that that we had access to ocean side and bay side. The sliding glass door to the balcony was sticking. I reported it twice, and i pulled my neck muscles but they did not come to fix.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing! - Absolutely wonderful! And the hotel next door, being able to use their facilities made it even better!
Our “ocean view room” however was more a “hotel next door view.”
- Ana (6/5): - Nothing in the hotel to hanging over, you have to trough the garbage, and they don’t clean the room until you check out 😠
- Brian (8/5): Aging property on the gulf side - Property is showing its age. Villa room with one queen and sofabed needed a little more cleaning. Sofa cushions had a few stains and AC vents had a lot of dust. Other than that... being at the beach most of our time was spend off property. Lazy rives was the nicest part.
- Brianna (2/5): - I DO NOT recommend staying here. We got in late because of our flights and our room was disgusting. Bleach stains all over the quilt on the bed, dirty sheets, dust all over the ceiling fan, a layer of grease on the top of the fridge. It was so gross, we had to rent another hotel room. Called their emergency number and they had no other rooms available. The next day I called when they opened and could not get ahold of a manager until after 1pm. When I did she told me they had another room we could look at. Went to the other room and there was MOLD on the ceiling and smelled like mildew. This was after they denied a refund, when we did not even stay the first night and paid $150 for a night at another hotel. I had to fight for a refund all day and I guess the representative at the desk could not call the property owner? So we wasted an entire day of our honey fighting to get back the $1400 we spent for a "nice" hotel. After hours of calling my bank to dispute the charge as fraud, calling expedia (also no help) we got a refund minus $150 cancellation fee, which we should not of been charged. Overall the worst experience of my life and I would not let my dog stay here.
- TERI (8/5): - The property was well kept and the staff was very nice. I didn't like that I paid for a wrist band for the pool area and had to give it back or pay another $20
- Shane (8/5): - I liked having a safe parking deck with easy access to the room. I wished i had gotten a bigger room and better view of ocean. but overall is was good.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Covered parking was very convenient. Over the highway walking bridge was unique. Dislikes: No phone in room. Elevators were closed for over 24 hours with no handicap access or notification. No broom or dustpan in room. And floor was dirty and sticky. Needed mopping.
- Chas (8/5): - Pretty good stay overall,my family was happy and it was a good vacation
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pool options were great and there was easy access to the beach. The room furnishings could have been in better condition and need cleaning.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We really enjoyed the different pools to choose from as well as walking to the beach. The beach staff renting chairs & umbrellas were awesome! Enjoyed the lazy river. Only real problem was the uncomfortable bed. It was ok, but should have been nicer. Close to the boardwalk & pier. Elevators seem to break down often, but were repaired quickly. Skybridge between bayside & gulfside was great & very helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was right there. The beaches were clean and nice, and the pier next door was great; we seen dolphins, sharks, sea turtles and more!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lazy River and pool area was great!
- Michele (10/5): ATL 2 Destin - My family enjoyed being close to the beach. We also enjoyed the amenities offered at Destin West like the lazy river, various pools as well as walking distance to the Broadwalk/pier and convenience to the grocery store. The Destin West staff was friendly and accommodating. Great trip, looking forward to our next one!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything! Very nice people- pools were amazing and clean
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Villa location was great
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice pool areas and beach access.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Will be coming back for sure
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place - Great place for a couple or family. Beach access is very easy and beach is very nice and clean. Room was spacious and everything you need for a comfortable stay was included in the room. Will definitely be going back
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I liked the fact that the beach was right there with the hotel and the guys running the chair rentals did an excellent job explaining the policy with them. The view of everything from our room was beautiful as well. If I had to choose a thing I didn't like, it would be that the heated pools and hot tubs were down the first two days there but the beach made up for it. Thanks

(8/5): Stayed a few days before meeting family at another rental. - Good place to stay with a lot of local restaurants/bars. The room was just what we needed for the 2 of us; the only complaint we have is the TV in the sleeping area didn’t work - the picture would shut off within 3 minutes, leaving only the sound playing. A little later checkout would’ve been helpful to us.
- Samuel H. (10/5): Great get away - Enjoyed the stay!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room was no clean and garbage left at the room.
And smell smoke
Terrible
- Billie (2/5): Crappy Hotel - Worst hotel ever. Will never go again!!!
- Matthew (10/5): reat time will for sure come back again - well it was very nice and very happy with access to beach and board walk area. the pools felt so good swimming in after all the jelly fish arrived lol.
- Elmo (6/5): - The property was beautiful, we stay in room 604 sandpiper. Looks like they needed to fire the cleaning company for the condo. The handle was broken on the freezer and dust everywhere.
- Luis (4/5): Nastiest room ever - Room has been the nastiest ive ever stayed at ! Messaged the property and never answered back i wouldn’t recommend it to anyone! Sliding door was broke never fixed it
- Annette (10/5): Wonderful resort right outside of Destin - Loved our stay! Looking at the reviews I had no idea the resort was so big and had a gulfside and beachside but the walkway over the highway was so perfect. We loved going to the beach in the morning and spend the afternoon in the lazy river. The lazy river had bbq pits, tables, spa and pools around it and we absolutely enjoyed it so much. We stayed on the villa side and although our room was still small for a family of 4 we will definitely be back and look for a 2 bedroom.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Furniture was outdated and dirty.
Stove didn’t work properly.
Pots and pans were old and dented and hard to use.
Two front bedrooms were hot with not airflow.
During a rain storm water flowed into the condo and all the way to the kitchen. Had to use towels all over the floor.
Dishwasher didn’t work.
Cigarette butts on patio even though suppose to be a smoke free property.
Felt springs in beds.
Hot tubs on property didn’t work.
I’m normally not one to complain but there were just to many things that were not right for a property averaging $475 a night. I’m completely dissatisfied and upset that my daughter went home 2 days early because she could sleep in the hot rooms.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful property. The only issue was a slight smell on the condo but it went away pretty fast.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Was disappointed with the lack of fresh towels and trash pick up
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We celebrated our 36 anniversary with this trip. Loved having beach chairs and an umbrella that came with the rental! The pools were great too! Our rental was perfect for two.
- Steven (2/5): STAY AWAY - First day I arrived we realized the sofa bed didn’t work which they had to fix, the dishes and fridge were extremely dirty, the apartment is very worn. The microwave didn’t work so they had to replace it after a few days. The electrical outlets in the guest bathroom didn’t work at all so they had to send an Electrition out. I payed 630 a night and when I called them they offered me a free night but I just found out out of the 630 I only get back 450 because the “fees” aren’t included in the refund. I would never recommend anyone to stay here.
- Lisa (8/5): Wonderful property! - It was an absolute wonderful vacation. The property was nice. Pools, lazy river, beach and common areas were well kept. The staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed in Villa 306, it was clean and comfortable. The pull out couch and the bed were not comfortable at all and every time a person moved it was loud. The room is very small, but nice. We payed with taxes and fees 1160.00 for 3 nights in peak season. I felt that was reasonable for what we got. There was enough activities that nothing was crowded. It was good. However, my only true complaint (besides the beds) is the chair and umbrella company. Their are way too many on the beach and it blocks the views and doesn’t allow for people that want to bring their own chairs. The beach wasn’t crowded with people, but chairs and umbrellas. We were also allowed access to the amenities next door, they have a great pool and hangout area. That was a plus! We would go back again, just get a different room with more room and privacy.
- Brian (2/5): Outdated resort - ignored by manager. - The resort is so dated to start with. Great location but very odd getting around it, no good flow at all. You can tell it's been added onto several times. The room we stayed in was 1990's at best. I would have considered it OK for a $89.00 motel room not a $320+ a night resort. When I went to the front desk and told them how bad our room was they knew which room we were in because it was the worst and told me that. I asked the manager to make an adjustment to my bill since they admitted it was bad. I called and left messages three times after returning home. Not even a call back.
- Audra (8/5): - Supposed to be a one bedroom and bed was separated by wall with opening in it! Shutters between bed & bathroom so had to make sure they were completely closed before taking a bath. Was not what I was expecting but it was okay. Stayed in villa no view paid for a gulf view. Sky bridge to get to other building across road for lazy river. Water on beach was full of seaweed!
- sandra (10/5): - It was wonderful and relaxing
- Matthew (2/5): Not Clean - The booking of the location was friendly; however the unit itself was not up to par. The condo smelt of mold and was noticeable on the majority of window seals. The kitchen sink was filled with dirty water for some reason and there were hairs scattered about the condo especially in the bathroom and shower. I took a quick shower after arriving but the smell of mold was overpowering and we decided to just head on home instead of staying the night. We will not be booking this place again.
- Lisa (6/5): - None of the information said the resort was on the bay side and not the beach side. Very misleading!!! Didn’t like that there was a fee of over $300 and housekeeping wasn’t included. Nor did we have enough towels not to have to do laundry every day. Not enough toilet paper or garbage bags. What was the fee for?????? $1136 for 4 nights. It’s not like I got a great deal and should have to buy those things
- Verified traveler (10/5): - So much going on and so close to the beach. The lazy river was very relaxing. I do wish I had been reminded to bring my own coffee.
- Verified traveler (4/5): 2/10 would not recommend - This hotel was very close to the beach but there are a number of things that they don't mention when you book. 1.) partial view means there is no view. 2.) only certain hotel rooms get free beach chairs, others have to pay $35 a day. You don't have any say in which room you are in so it's just a 50/50 chance on if you have to pay out of pocket for beach chairs. 3.) you do not get any hospitality service so hang up your towel everyday so that you can have a dry towel after your shower. 4.) the mattresses/sheets need a serious update. We fought over who got to sleep on the couch because it was so much nicer. 5.) there is no ice maker on site.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - We arrived late at night and could not check in and pretty much every number we called could not help us! There were zero notices or instructions. We finally called Expedia and they found someone. Also there were zero instructions on check out. The resort it’s self was great. Super family friendly and u can walk everywhere.
- Kerrie (2/5): DON’T STAY TILL THEY UPGRADE OR THE CITY DOES!!! - ARRIVED AND HERE WERE ALL THE ISSUES
-SMOKE DETECTOR BATTERIES WERE EXPIRED AND BEEPING ...FIXED THE NEXT DAY BUT WAS TOLD TO REMOVE THEM BEFORE THEN!!!??? BUILDING NOT WIRED TO AN ALARM COMPANY BECAUSE THE DEAD BATTERIES WOULD HAVE SENT A TROUBLE ALARM TO THE MONITORING COMPANY...SO IMAGINE THEY HAVE ME REMOVE EXPIRED SMOKE DETECTORS IN A VERY LARGE CONDO BUILDING THAT IS NOT MONITORED BY AN ALARM COMPANY!!!
-TOILET CLOGGED
-NOISY REFRIGERATOR ENGINE NEVER REPLACED
-BROKEN BROOM STICKS USED FOR PROTECTION IN THE SLIDING GLASS DOORS
-NO WIRED PHONES TO CALL 911...HAVE TO HAVE YOUR CELL CHARGED AND NEAR YOU IF AN EMERGENCY SO I TOLD THEM I WOULD NEVER BE BACK BECAUSE MY EDERLY MOM NEVER HAS HER CELLPHONE CHARGED AND CAN’T TEXT NOW...SO FORGET IT IF AN EMERGENCY HAPPENS!!! PLUS, WIFI CAN’T BE TRUSTED IN AN EMERGENCY ESPECIALLY IF A FIRE HAPPENED!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Couldn't seem to find more than 1 hot tub. I would have liked to have access to hot tubs past 10 pm.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The lazy river was closed from 2/12 until 2/19 and we were not aware until we showed up at the property. That could've been something they told us before we arrived. We specifically picked this place because of the pools and lazy river.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfortable place for a dance competition - The condo was very nice, clean and a perfect amount of space for what we needed. The owners are super nice and go out of their way to help. We were in town for a dance competition.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The view was beautiful, ours had 7 pools and a lazy river, we went in November, weather was a little cool but three pools on the bayside was heated. The bay side of the property was far more beautiful than the gulf side.
- Michael (10/5): An awesome place to stay! - I stayed here a couple weeks after hurricane Michael. The management company was very courteous and professional. The condo was clean and comfortable. The pool is amazing, it has a lazy river and beach access is awesome. This is one of my favorite places to stay in the Destin area.
- Douglas (8/5): - The room was nice but definitely needed new mattress it was very uncomfortable. The pools and the beach bar was very nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We were able to upgrade and really enjoyed the semi private beach area pools were well maintained would have been nice to been provided towels for beach and pool area was worried about using room towels wife needed hair dryer which flying down limited us bringing bulky items but overall will stay there again
- Pam (4/5): Nasty - Dirty and would not start here again.
- Tina (4/5): Still had fun, although disappointed with room. - We had several maintenance issues with the room (chair in pieces when we got there, ice maker on refrigerator not working, kitchen faucet loose, to mention just a few). We reported these issues three different times and never saw a maintenance person the whole time we were there even though they supposedly wrote up a work order all three times.
- Jeri (2/5): - This was my second experience with Destin West. The first time we stayed at Destin West they were amazing. This time the level of rudeness we experienced from the front desk staff at Destin West was remarkable. Not to mention whoever owns the room we stayed in takes terrible care of it. It was not equipped with a blow dryer or even 1 packet of coffee to get us through until we could get to the store. The room was filthy, rusty and moldy. There were only a couple towels in the room. They did send a gal over with a few more. We stayed a week and I was told I could go next door to the hotel to wash the towels we had. Seriously!? We paid a LOT of money to stay with Destin West. NEVER AGAIN! The ONLY good part was the lazy river, but we noticed even that was much dirtier than last time we were there.
- william (8/5): Nice place to stay - We had a real good time at this hotel, nice staff and nice rooms and nice pools.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Bed Bugs - This was the second visit to Destin West for my husband and I because we loved it so much last year. Unfortunately, villa 308 was a big disappointment. The bathroom was dirty and bed was completely uncomfortable. They had the most awkward detached head board. The bed frame was so noisy and the bed sloped downward. After two nights of sleeping on the bed, I noticed scattered bug bites all over my hip. It was so embarrassing, I waited to get home to see the doctor. I would recommend not ever staying in villa 308.
- John (10/5): - A truly enjoyable getaway experience! Everything was perfect!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The area is lovely. The facility is nice on paper but this is really not a hotel as opposed to a condo complex that rents spaces via hotels.com. This came with some issues. Night one - the cable and wifi is out. Not a big deal as it's to be fixed the next day. It isn't. Then after two days, when it is fixed, the cable company proceeds to enter our room two more days. They leave their items in the room and frankly, it was violating. You complain to the rental company and they say "talk to the homeowners association". Why would I talk to someone I have not rented from? Then they cut the water for several hours. "Talk to the home owners association". The cable company used my bed to stage their equipment, left wires, dust and dirt behind. "Talk to the home owners association". You finally get affirmation that you can talk to someone from the rental end but only one person can address your concerns and questions. You are traveling on business and after waiting all day they call you back at 4:10pm with a message saying you can call until 5:00pm but leave no cell phone. So you are frustrated and go to the front desk and the answer is "Well, person X was working too!" Well now, when there is an exchange of money the relationship is a bit different but that wasn't a concern. One of our party members left a day early for a hotel because she didn't want the cable company entering again. We got a $50 credit which wan't really adequate. The 3-Bedroom space was lovely but the service...
- Verified traveler (6/5): My expectation may have been too high. - No Daily service which I guess is normal for a resort, but would have been nice to know before booking. . There was trash under bed in and in night stands. Room size was nice and location was good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay. The property was beautiful and comfortable. The kids spent lots of time in the heated pool. We would recommend this property to our friends.
- Linda (4/5): Close to beach but not user friendly - They messed up our reservation we’re not friendly and had a difficult check out experience
- Kristina (10/5): Family loved it... - I highly recommend this location. Plenty of activities on site, beach access is prime and lots of things to do within walking distance.
- Andrea (6/5): Good location and amenities - This hotel has a good location and amenities, the pools are awesome and you can choose from a lot. The beach is also awesome and it is located near the boardwalk. We stayed in the villas and had a partial ocean view. The room itself is a bit dated and the bed was not the best, but they are individually owned I think so every experience is different. Overall, we would stay again for the location and value!
- joe (8/5): Nice complex - We had a good time, got lucky with good weather for most of the week
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The Negatives: The rugs in all 3 bedrooms had multiple stains. Went to use the hot tub and black mold shot out of the jets from lack of use, had to buy some bleach and sanitize it myself. Ice maker did not work. Black Mildew on ceiling in master bath.
The Pros: The master bedroom was absolutely huge. The bay view from the enormous deck was awesome. The kitchen had beautiful counter tops. The fishing from the onsite dock was good. Location was great.
- Linda (8/5): - Overall stay was great. Only complaint would be the bed. Mattress was not comfortable at all. Any movement caused the bed to sqeak. This in turn did not provide a good night's rest at all.
- Nena (10/5): - Everything about this fascility is nice. The rooms the pools the lazy river just everything!
- Rob (6/5): Easy access to pools, beach. Family friendly. - Enjoyed our stay. Parking in garage near our room was very convenient. Pools were great. Access to both the beach and Bay was super close. Only downside for us was our room. Furniture was dirty, bed was old and creeky and we had a view of the hotel next door. Would stay at this hotel again, but chose a different room.
- Lisa (6/5): - Very family friendly. Would like to see one small pool designated to adults only. Beaches were terrible. Lots of dead fish and moss everywhere.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Perfect for my kids age 9 and 11. The beach is beautiful and the water is crystal clear. We all loved snorkeling.
- nikki (6/5): Lazy river, pools and beach where amazing! Rooms w - Lazy river & pools, beach was amazing. Rooms dirty and house keeping was very slow to respond to request of clean towels and wash clothes. 4 people n our room and they would bring us 2 towels??? Bed linens need to be desperately updated, pots and pans were terrible and very aged. We had bad weather for 2 of the days so the pools and lazy river def helped my family make the most of those days. Room so very small for what I paid for 7 days.
- Peggy (10/5): Amazing - This place is amazing. There's plenty to do and more. I recommend the Gulfarium for everyone. The staff were courteous and friendly
Thanks for a great vacation
- Verified traveler (6/5): Decent but wouldn't stay here again. - Our shower leaked into our entry way but we didn't realize it until my sister slipped in puddle. Don't assume someone will be over to clean your room and replace your towels; you must call the office for towels (it took 3 calls from us). Not much to do in the area as all of the activity is way on the other side of the bridge. The rug in the living room has seen better days and don't attempt to boil any water on the two burner stove - it will never boil. "Partial ocean view" means if you lean out of your balcony, and you can see really, really well, you can see the corner of the ocean. All of the staff (beach employees, office, etc.), could all use a pep talk in pursuing better customer service. Also, we only had one channel on our television and it only worked when we jiggled the wire into the outlet.
- Jaime (10/5): Great place for the price. - Loved it! Would go back tomorrow if I could. Great pools and beach. Close to destin but out of the traffic.
- steve (8/5): Beautiful beach - Great place to stay. Price was nice. Excellent pools and beach. Close to restaurants and activities. The room was nice, however the bed was uncomfortable and sounded like it was going to fall apart.
- Randall (8/5): Did not get room we booked on Hotels.com - We had to pay over $500 more to get the room that we were supposed to have initially.
We are a return stay at Destin West with a great rate last year and the added cost drove our stay for five nights to be over $320.00 a night. Our original cost was booked at a little less than $1,000 or$250 a night.
- Deron (10/5): Nice hotel close to beach and bay - Great resort! Would stay again!!! Very nice hotel with many pools (2 heated) and great lazy river.
- Jackie Royce (2/5): Not what we expected - The condo was very dirty, hair all on the floor. Pots and dishes were dirty, the dish washer does not clean them well at all, there could of been dish soap and a scrubber as courtisty for others. Blankets have a fouls smell to them.
- Thomas (8/5): Great atmosphere - We would like to come back with some of our kids 29 march 1 april
- Verified traveler (10/5): Loved it! - This was booked at the last minute and we could. It have been happier.
- Melody (8/5): - This was our first family vaction to the beach and would highly recommend this hotel. We stayed in room #415 Gulfside. Had a good view of the Gulf and overlook of the pools. Our room met all of our expectations and the kids loved the bunk room. The grounds and pools were clean and well maintained. We had a great stay and will definitely be back again soon.
- ron judy (8/5): confusing? - first, room was never cleaned the entire vacation, we asked for clean towels for the pool, never received any, wish it had an in-room safe, other than that very nice hotel. just confused
- erin (10/5): Best lazy river ride ! - Thank you so very much had a great week, everything was Perfect !
- Jim (10/5): Clean & tropical - Loved staying @ Destin west Villas. Property was very tropical & landscaped beautiful on beach & bayside. We did not get clean towels for our 3 night stay because they wrote wrong date down & came with clean towels just as we were leaving. Would like to stay in gulf side building .
- Bill (4/5): Disappointing - Floors and rugs were dirty. Fridge and stove were very small. So called "View" was of the adjoining parking lot. Patio door would not lock, even after work was done. Not a good experience.
- Brian (10/5): - My family and I have stayed at Destin West Resort several times over the last 10 years and have never been disappointed. The staff is extremely courteous and helpful, and the resort itself is top-notch. This was the first time staying in one of the villas, as opposed to the other "condo-like" rooms that we've booked before. It was perfect for a long Labor Day weekend stay, but be advised that the villas, unlike the condo units, do not have washer/dryer sets so extended stays may prove problematic or inconvenient for laundry.
- Darlene (8/5): Great location!
- My husband and I were celebrating our 32nd wedding anniversary. We loved all the pools and the easy access to the beach. We were able to walk to some great dining spots.
- Cassie (10/5): Beautiful resort!! - We stayed here for five nights and got married on the beach. We've been to at least six different parts of Florida but this was the best vacation either of us have ever had! The hotel and pools were amazing and the beach access can't be beat for this price. We will be back, and we're bringing the rest of the family with us.
