callum (9/5): Nice, comfortable hotel - Receptionists were lovely and helpful, room was clean & comfortable, hotel is central Hash browns (breakfast) were lovely! Breakfast - the Lady behind the bar who cooked shouted across the room at a couple saying they had to pay for their breakfast... instead of walking up o me and talking more quietly... myself and other guests were wondering what was going on.. they had paid when booking, the receptionist sorted it out. Also we asked for tea & toast then gave our breakfast order, tea never arrived and, as we were finishing I asked the waitor for the tea... be bought over a tea and a coffee (no big deal but we were drinking apple juice as we'd no tea!)

Karen (5/5): Overall I enjoyed it and I would probably stay there again as the staff were nice and helpful. - The location was great. The staff were nice and friendly. We had a power cut, whilst I was in bed, no electricity for lights or socket. The handyman was in and out three times. Very polite but a bit embarrassing. He fixed the problem, but stood on a shelf and broke it. I thought the hotel might offer some sort of reduced rate or something for our inconvenience, but nothing was mentioned. The next morning there seemed to be a lot of people complaining about their door locks not working. Ours was okay, but obviously didn’t lock with the power off. They ran out of things a lot at breakfast and they had problems with the coffee. I had to wait a long time for mine. Breakfast was cooked well though. I think they could have done with more breakfast staff.

ranjotk2025 (10/5): Perfect Anniversary Stay in a Beautifully Renovated Hotel - We stayed here for a night for our anniversary and were really impressed with the overall experience. From the moment we walked in, everything felt fresh, modern, and thoughtfully designed without losing a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The room was spotless and clearly finished to a high standard. The décor had a boutique-style feel, especially the lighting and beautiful ceiling details, which made the room feel much more luxurious than we expected. The bed was extremely comfortable with quality bedding, and we appreciated the little touches like the soft lighting, spacious layout, and plenty of storage space. One thing that stood out was how quiet and relaxing the hotel felt, even with its modern and stylish vibe. The renovation has definitely been done well everything looked brand new and carefully put together. The room felt both cosy and elegant at the same time, which made it perfect for a special occasion. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, and check-in was smooth and easy. Overall, this hotel offers great value for a newly refurbished property and feels like a big upgrade compared to many standard hotels. We’d definitely stay here again and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a modern, comfortable, and well-finished place to stay.

janemA3811OW (10/5): Absolute gem of a hotel! - We are seasoned travellers and like to pick new locations for a weekend stay and to explore the area. I picked the Kings Arms Hotel for a weekend Friday 8th - Sunday 10th May as a birthday surprise for my husband. From the moment we arrived the staff were welcoming and professional. It was obvious that the hotel has undergone major refurbishment and is absolutely beautifully decorated, transforming what is a very old building into a very sleek and modern looking boutique style establishment. The furnishings and decor have been completed to the highest standard and it is both impressive and created a great atmosphere throughout our stay. Our room was large with a gorgeous spacious bathroom - the best room we've ever experienced in a hotel of this type! Breakfast is freshly cooked to order and is also extremely high quality with plenty of choice and everything prepared to perfection. It is obvious that the staff work extremely hard and every single member of staff we encountered from front desk to bar and restaurant were both professional and extremely friendly. We were made to feel really welcome throughout or stay. We chose to eat both nights at the adjoining restaurant, Amore and can honestly say the food and service were exceptional!!! Quality, prevention and choice were outstanding and the wines we chose to pair with our food were both reasonably priced and high quality. Our only disappointment occurred on the second evening, when we overheard guests at the next table openly discussing their intention to complain about a pasta dish in order to obtain a refund, despite having said previously how much they had enjoyed it. This was upsetting to witness given how hard we saw the staff work and based on the quality of both our meals and those of others around us. Throughout our stay, we only heard praise for the food. We had a fantastic stay at the Kings Arms and will absolutely return to explore more of the surrounding area. We would highly recommend it as a gorgeous place to stay in Berwick and it is only a short walk from the rail station.

Andrew (10/5): Short overnight trip to see family. - The hotel although looking slightly dated in reception. It's currently undergoing renovations which is evident in the rooms. Once completed it will look 100 times better. Breakfast was excellent and the staff all helpful and engaging with residents. Didn't fully explore the beer garden as my wife uses a walker and we saw a lot of steps, so didn't look to see if there was a ramp to that area. Overall a very good short stay especially being centrally located. We are already thinking about future visits.

The Amore Restaurant is worth a visit, even if you’re not staying- really friendly waiting staff and a very reasonable, delicious and varied menu. The nature of the historic building means that the main entrance has several high steps. However, we were able to access the hotel easily and in one level via the restaurant entrance.

601lynnj (10/5): Sunday lunch - We recently visited Amore at the Kings Arms Hotel in Berwick and honestly had one of the best Sunday lunches we’ve had in a very long time. From the moment we arrived, Pablo on front of house made us feel incredibly welcome, and the service throughout was warm, attentive, and professional. The rest of the staff were also brilliant—friendly, efficient, and clearly passionate about what they do. Pablo even went the extra mile and knocked out a rendition of Purple Rain for a customer’s birthday…. such a great touch that really added to the atmosphere. The roast beef was cooked medium rare to perfection—tender, full of flavour, and exactly how it should be. The vegetables were spot on, fresh and perfectly cooked, while the roast potatoes were crisp without being greasy. The Yorkshire pudding was equally impressive, light, well-risen, and not oily at all. Every element on the plate was done right, which is rare to find. A solid 10/10 from us..,, we’ll definitely be back!

Parking could be difficult outside the hotel if travelling dur8ng the week due to restrictions outside the hotels control but parking discs were available at reception so you can unload your car and get settled before moving. Breakfast was good. The hotel is currently undergoing refurbishment, we had a refurbished room which has been modernised very well in relaxing colours. Dinner was taken in the Amore restaurant. Let’s just say that lots went wrong starting the minute we sat down, the food however was very good.

Hotel was being renovated no mention of this when we booked, window rattled all night, shower cure was awful full of mould, no heating in the room we had to get a portable heater from the reception. James (4/5): Uncaring Management - The Team were great and my complaint isn't relating to the Front of House Team. Room was great although my window had no handle so couldn't close the window. This was fine day one, but with no electric or heating on night two I couldn't sleep as it was so cold. On day two we were informed around 7 or 8pm that there is no Electric. We were on the way to our room after dinner and drinks. And I was with two other work Colleauges with their own rooms and we had to walk up 2 flights of stairs in total darkness.... no emergency lighting either. They are foing work so there was debris on the stairs and it was pretty dangerous. For the rest of the night we had to use our mobile phone torches to use toilet eyc. A miserable night and electric came on at midnight I believe. When I complained we were told we were offered another room, but the woman said we could try and move but think sll rooms are affected PLUS trying to pack up with suitcases etc using a mobile phone torch would be hard even if they could find us a room. We were offered no partial refund for this miserable night, but instead a 20% discount off our next stay but we're were touring UK training our Network so we will not be back. So no compensation for sitting in a cold dark room from 8 till 12pm. Miserable situation and uncaring management. Avoid!

466wendea (10/5): please ignore the older reviews - my partner booked a 2 night staff for my birthday. 2 bottles of prosecco were in our room on arrival which we thought was a lovely touch. the room was top class, recently refurbished, very clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. wooden blinds and blackout curtains made good for a lie-in. Breakfast was so nice and plenty to choose from. the staff were friendly, helpful and available but a special shout out to Gillian.

Eileen (2/5): The first three night in room 22 were comfortable but sadly one night in room 15 ensured I won’t return! - The location of the hotel is close to the quays and town centre. The staff were very friendly. The quality of the workmanship carried out in room 15 was so poor that I spent the night shivering and caught a chill.

Gavin Piers (8/5): Comfortable - Really friendly and helpful staff. Lovely welcome and the team helped us make our son's birthday special. Some issues with cleaning and refreshments in the room, but sorted quickly when raised.

Still refurbishing rooms but such a friendly clean hotel right in heart of Berwick upon Tweed. - The manager and staff very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. That includes night staff. Room had just been refurbished and was a good standard. Beds comfy. Breakfast very good. Had Sunday roast at restaurant which was very nice. Again staff in restaurant were excellent. Nothing really. Could have had sky sports on television in lounge. Also some board games would have been welcome. Glad we took our own.

Eileen (7/5): Nice hotel, very good location, very friendly and helpful staff. - The staff were very helpful, welcoming and friendly. The room was nice and spacious with plenty of storage. Generous tea, coffee and biscuits on tray. The cooked breakfast was very good, and we ate on both evenings at the Amore restaurant. Food and service both very good. I believe the hotel is undergoing a refurbishment at the moment, and at the moment some parts are a bit inconsistent. There was obviously building work going on on the floor above us, starting quite early. So it would be better to review when all the work is complete.

978evier (10/5): Gorgeous and brand new 🤩 - I recently stayed at the Kings arms hotel and wow. I did not expect what we got. I read the reviews and thought we were staying at a bog standard hotel. What i didn’t realise is that the whole hotel has undergone a massive renovation. What we thought was an upgraded room was just their standard double. We were impressed by the room size as well as the modern bathroom. It was clean and warm and the bed was to die for. As for the restaurant it was just delicious!! Definitely worth a visit. I’ll definitely be back !!

We came for a weekend of love and romance but the staff were rude and not nice and we didn't get romance, we got dirty room and spiders. This is not a place for anniversary. It is place for vermin and sadness.

The on site Italian restaurant had a menu full of choice and the breakfast was plentiful. Very good. Some of the decor was a little worn and needed a little attention.

Matthew (10/5): - Ideal hotel to explore Berwick: It’s about a 20 minute walk from the train station. It’s an easy route. The location of the hotel is perfect. It’s close to all the attractions and ideally located for decent restaurants and some great bars. Despite other reviews, we found that the hotel and the room was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was beautiful. The staff are great, helpful & friendly. The ‘cocktail’ bar could do with a better range of drinks but it’s good enough for a quick drink.

Emily (5/5): Okay for a last minute stop over but needs refurbished - The breakfast was well cooked. The lady was very kind serving us. There was no atmosphere in the dining area. No side plates on tables to butter toast on. Spare furniture stacked up at side of room looked untidy. Murals are lovely but room could do with being modernised. Ceiling rose was not in keeping with rest of decor and needed a good paint. Room was dark. Then to top it off I can only assume it was the breakfast chef came out and Checked cereals etc and to be honest not wanting to sound mean but looked scruffy. Need a good shave and his chefs tuning looked dirty with splash marks up the side and there is no need for baseball cap to be worn when cooking. He did not create a good impression at all and Di not speak to any of the guests. I work in the hotel industry so know the appropriate standards and this was not it. Guests followed us in a short time later and had to ask for a few items of crockery before they could start their breakfast.

The lady on the front desk was excepetionally friendly, caring and helpful. The room wasn't that clean. The bath had spiders in it and the carpets were not clean. The head board to the bed wasn't clean.
