We were kinda freaking out not knowing what to do. Only one employee working so if they are checking someone else in or showing them to their room you are kinda left outside. Room was wonderful.

Slightly quirky room with the bathroom open and behind the bed, but great size and decor. Only downside was having no tea/coffee facilities in the room as they are available on the landing.

It sounds trivial but they provided a hair defuser, as someone with curly hair I appreciate that. The bathroom was very spacious and had a makeup table. It was more like a small apartment than a hotel room. The staff was awesome. Great location.

• Jeff (10/5): Great suite in walkable area - What a great find! My wife and I were here with a friend, so we needed 2 rooms. This was an incredible find! The room as 700+ sq ft and was a full apartment (sans kitchen). We had one master bedroom connected to the bathroom and the covered terrace, the covered terrace area with glass ceilings and a 2nd bedroom on the other side of the suite. Gave us plenty of space and privacy. There are a few pastry shops within a few minutes walk (recommend Boulangerie Jocteur) and coffee shops (recommend SIP Coffee Bar) -- both great places to get your morning pastry/coffee fix and come back and eat on your terrace). Service was great and the place was super-clean. Big soaking tub and separate stand-up shower were huge bonuses. Highly recommend.

• Karen (6/5): Disappointing not to have the room we booked. - The hotel is in a great position in front of the Cathedral. Very nice area with lots of shops/bars/restaurants around it. The staff themselves were very nice and friendly. As for the Victoire room we were given - very disappointing. We booked and paid for a Superior room with a Queen bed - it was neither. A normal double bed and definitely not superior. We are firmly convinced we did not get the room we paid for. Rooms on the website look lovely and I can assure you it was not one of those. Nowhere to sit and relax, just a bare sofabed and a plastic chair. You have to watch TV from in bed. Relaxing facilities in the room were nil but the bathroom was nice, it was clean, it was well placed and lovely reception. Also nice views of the courtyard. Sorry but was disappointing.

• Verified traveler (8/5): - My husband, 21 year old son and I stayed in on of the hotel’s apartments. It was clean and comfortable. It overlooked the inner courtyard - the gem of the property. I was disappointed to see there was no bar or place to get a drink. The description of the hotel does not include this. Breakfast was delicious and I highly recommend signing up for it when you stay there. One other note - if you drive there as we did, it is very difficult to find and parking is quite far away. It is centrally located and we had no problem finding our way around Bordeaux from there.

• Verified traveler (4/5): Average comfort - Good location, beautiful building, spacious room. The double is made of two single mattresses, which makes sleeping in the middle pretty uncomfortable. The outdoor ashtray was full of cigarette butts, and rain water: unpleasant view, and smell. The floor material to the bathroom and toilet is super slippery by design. I stayed a single night, so I did not bother requesting a different room when I noticed the fake double bed. Also, the staff did not bother to ask how my stay was, so I did not provide this feedback in person.

• Marina (8/5): - We stayed at L'Hôtel Particulier for 3 nights and liked many things about this place: its central location, a modern and fairly good size room with a kitchenette, and very friendly hosts. A shower unit was on a small scale but manageable. The only real issue was street noise at night. We had a room on the first floor with windows overlooking the back street. This street was pedestrian but it was too noisy. On Saturday night I could not sleep until about 2:30 am. We suspected that the issue was due to a nigh club/bar located at the end of the block. Also nothing prevented motorcycles to take this street. I tried to close windows which did help to block the noise, but the room had no conditioner and it was getting too hot and hard to breath. Two other nights were a bit better. My advise is to ask for a room with a garden/inside view.

Also it is near the stop for the airport bus which is excellent value at 1€70. There was a problem with the shower - the cubicle was very small and water overflowed into the bathroom. The towels were thin and grey - they need replacing, as do the bedside tables which were stained and very unattractive. The room could be much improved at little cost.

• Janice (10/5): Excellent - Just back from a three night stay at L'Hôtel Particulier and we really enjoyed our time there. The room was shabby/chic as the pictures suggest but clean and very comfortable. A large cupboard houses the kitchenette which consisted of a sink, small oven, hob, coffee maker, kettle, fridge, plates and cutlery so everything you need to make a snack or small meal. We bought croissants for breakfast and made coffee (which I had taken with me). The room was cleaned daily. The reception staff were very nice and we had a key that let us into the main front door at any time of day or night. The location was perfect, it's really easy to find as it's right near the Cathedral and within walking of all the other local sites. Busses and trams are also very good. We visited the medieval town of St Emilion by train which was beautiful and a lovely day out. Don't forget to try the wine!

• Anna (10/5): A home in the historic city center - A very cool hotel experience—my room was in fact a good-sized apartment in one of several buildings around a pleasant courtyard. It was very comfortable if a bit “lived in,” and perfectly located in the historic center. Great breakfast and extremely friendly staff.
• Mark (8/5): A charming hotel with French charactor! - A good hotel! The room was small and narrow and not what I expected in relation to the pictures I saw. However, the bathroom was a nice size and the location and staff made up for any deficiency of the room. Breakfast was catered (not buffet style), and on an appointment basis, different from most other places. However, it was a pleasurable experience with a very helpful and professional staff. The location was great, within walking distance to the city center and to the tour office.

• Caron (8/5): Good location - We stayed here twice and although the rooms are a little run down the service and the staff more than make up for this. The staff are young and friendly and not only do they run the hotel they also cook the breakfast. Breakfast was well worth it and as a bonus there was usually a fresh homemade cake (cooked by the staff) on offer. In the afternoon home baked biscuits were available in reception that was an added bonus. We really enjoyed our stay and will recommend to friends.
• Caron (8/5): Nice hotel near cathedral - We arrived early and were able to leave our bags and head out for lunch and a walk. There is a lovely courtyard with plenty of comfortable seats and plants where you can relax and read which enabled us to not be confined to our room.

Great location within easy walking distance of all main streets and attractions. Staff very welcoming. Great breakfast, which we had On one of your 3 days, but a bit pricey at €15. Only downside was no air conditioning , a fan supplied which helped to keep us a bit cool but was uncomfortable to sleep in the high temperatures. Despite that would return for another stay next time in Bordeaux. This was our second visit to the hotel within the last 3 years.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful spot in Bordeaux - This hotel strikes you as a hidden jewel, with a B&B vibe in a great section of town. Hotel staff go WAY above and beyond to help with anything. Breakfast was very nice as well.
• Alan (8/5): Chambre d'Hote in the centre of town - The Hotel enjoys a wonderfully central location from which to explore Bordeaux. The Courtyard is a delight and the rooms are modern and well equipped with a small kitchen unit for basic self catering breakfast etc. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. The beds are quite hard and the room did not have air conditioning which were the only downsides.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Very central hotel. - Guests should be advised ,particularly if the have a hire car, that the hotel is in a restricted vehicular area, trams and taxis only. Also no lift access to much of the hotel which makes it difficult for elderly people and carrying suitcases.

• Duane (10/5): Wonderful Bordeaux Boutique Hotel - Great small boutique hotel right next to the Tram B line. In central Bordeaux near the cathedral and dozens of great restaurants and shops. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Rates are extremely reasonable. Don't miss their 15 euro breakfast- wonderful.
• Alexander (8/5): Basic room is small, staff is friendly, some noise - I had the basic room which was quite small. I just stayed one night, so this was OK, but the room does pick up the noise from the courtyard below. If you are on the same sleeping schedule as the rest of the hotel, this may be alright, but one man on a phone call was enough to leave me reaching for my ear plugs. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the location is great. Overall mixed feelings, maybe if you get the superior sweet you would be happy.

Our studio was very well equipped: bathroom kitchen and toilet seemed to have been newly refurbished. The rooms were clean and the bed very comfortable. Our studio overlooked an interior courtyard which was also very attractive. Only negative is that there was an unpleasant smell in the stairway leading to our studio, which we suspect was escaping from the sewage system and nothing to do with the general hygiene or cleanliness of the hotel. Despite that, we would go back.

The hotel in general is well kept, clean and beautiful. The central atrium is a quiet retreat from the streets and tourists without. Our room was spacious, tidy and well kept. The only problem that we had was the toilet (separate toilet from shower) had no sink in the room, and the floor in the toilet was wooden. The polish on the wood was very worn directly in front of the toilet, making it very uncomfortable to be there barefooted. More than that, the unpolished wood smelled of urine. The shower room also had loose fittings (shelf in the shower, the rubber door end which meant the floor outside of the shower was soaked after each shower. Note that the room has coffee and a coffee maker but no mini-bar. It wasn't a problem, we bought drinks and such the next morning.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Unique hotel with character and charm - I very much enjoyed my brief stay at L'Hotel Particulier. It's perfectly located in the center of town, very near the trolley line and within walking distance of many shops and restaurants. My room, though tiny, was well laid out and had a large, modern bathroom as well as a comfortable single bed, and was a bargain considering the elegance and character of the building: it's more like staying in a private house than a hotel. Larger rooms and suites are available as well. Guests receive a warm welcome and helpful advice at Reception. Highly recommended.
• Michelle (10/5): An Evening in Bordeaux - We had an exceptional evening at the L'Hotel Particlier. The hotel itself is a big part of what was such a memorable experience. Our room felt like a 19th century townhouse. Spacious, elegant yet well appointed with all the amenities one needs. Located near to the heart of the city nestled amongst shopping, all types of restaurants and the historic water front. Parking was no issue. Safe and just a short walk to the garage. The hotel staff was friendly, informative and very helpful. I would absolutely recommend this hotel. We will stay here again.

We chose this hotel because we liked the look of the individually styled room, we thought it looked very French and quite romantic. For ease i shall split my review into good & not so good... Good - wonderful location in walking distance of all the mains sites with a tram stop just up the road. Perfect! Staff were all lovely & could speak English although i did try to speak French some of the time! It was peaceful and quiet despite its location. Not so good - we were disappointed by the standard of the room (Camille Julian studio), it was narrow, dark, dingy, not at all romantic or french. Furniture was a bit shabby, the toilet cubicle/room had no heating and was freezing! My husbands feet were hanging over the end of the bed even though he is 5ft 11, not abnormally tall. We would stay again, but only if we knew the exact room we were getting & we could see pictures.

• Kris (10/5): - This small hotel is simply marvelous. The rooms are spacious, the breakfast is good, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the location couldn't be better. It is an old hotel, so the floors creak and the elevator is small, but the beds are comfortable and there is lots of charm. Tea and coffee are available throughout the day. This will be where I stay when I am in Bordeaux.
