A most welcome treat to come back to after a hot busy day out and about on tour in the city. The restaurant food is good (I would have LOVED to see some local dishes given some modern twists, maybe rather than all the pages of Japanese choices?) ... And the view is worthy of one or two cocktails afterwards, just to give yo time to soak it all in! But I think the best thing could be the professional and attentiveness of all the staff, from Housekeeping to waiters and bar staff, to managers who help with tour and transport needs, they are a great and very friendly team! Thanks for a lovely stay! As mentioned - why not replace (at least) a few of the Japanese choices on the menu with new exciting takes on local favourites - like Plasas!? :0

Renovation seems to have been made and the room became clean and nice. A front staff listened to my points and was trying to sincerely respond to them. There were many points to be addressed. 1. The 45 m² room that saw on the Booking.com website and I booked "did not" exist so I was put into the 35 m² room. Nothing was mentioned at the time of check-in. 2. There was no chain lock from inside. 3. Someone entered into my room in the middle of the night. S/he opened the door and just closed as far as I heard the sound. 4. The desk was so high and the chair did not match the hight of the desk. 5. The electrical outlet (socket) was inconveniently located. It was located just under the top board of the table. No outlet was located on the desk. 6. Lavatory basin (pan) was located so close to the wall and it was very tight. 7. The refrigerator was very old and water was leaking. 8. A safety box was equipped but was not fixed to the shelf. Anyone can remove from the room and take it away. 9. Staff at the breakfast neither checked my room number, nor guided me to the table. They were busy chatting among themselves. That was the worst breakfast experience I ever had this year. 10. The quality of the breakfast degraded compared to the one provided at the same hotel few years back.

• Bryan (8/5): - Upon check-in. The receptionist could not location my reservation that was booked through expedia, and this further delayed us getting to our room. I had to dig into my email and find confirmation, and do all kind of screenshots and forward to this email address. It was too much. They took what was sent and allowed me to proceed. The room was great and spacious with incredible views overlooking the town and sea. Balcony area was cool also. No complaints about the room. Nice size TV, comfy bed, comfy pillows. The shower is not fully enclosed, so water does get all over the flow. I didnt like that, as I'm used to fully enclosed shower. The hotel provided complimentary breakfast, which we enjoyed. Lunch and dinner were not complimentary, and the food was definitely overpriced. I had no staff issues, and enjoyed seeing the very attractive servers they have. All of them were beautiful. I didn't get to access the pool or fitness center due to personal schedule, but will definitely come back and enjoy all in full. Checking out was a headache also. Once again it took way longer than it should've, as it held up the awaiting taxi driver, and we also missed the ferry due to this unexplained delay. Please do better with the check-in and check-out process so that they are speedy. I will recommend printing out your confirmation and bringing it with you to show in person to speed things up. They didn't email/call me to confirm that my room was set prior to official check in.

• 914michellej2014 (2/5): Disappointing - Was here for lunch with my son (6) and my cousin on Tuesday 22nd April - ordered 2 tiger prawn mains and a pizza and diverse dumplings for starters..20 minutes in..we get told there’s ‘ no pizza available at this time…’ - my son’s disappointed but okay…we’d take regular fries for him.. 40 minutes in, the starters arrive.. were okay, nothing to write home about.. after another 10 minutes, we get the mains and M’s fries - the fried rice side my cousin ordered came out as fries..but ok…he said ok… My son had 3 fries and refused to eat anymore..- he said it tasted bad..I tried one of his fries - it tasted bad ( and I’m putting it mildly) - soggy and like it was fried in candle wax at a low temperature. We had to send it back- we got a better portion of fries afterwards..the tiger prawns were grilled to toughness and dry, the rice lacked salt and was hard - all in all the worst meal I had in my 2 week stay this time around. The view, as always, was stunning..the flies irritated us during our meal..the incense burned at our table, meant to discourage them, wasn’t up to the job. The bill for lunch was 113$ ( we drank a large bottle of water…regular water, not Perrier..) - I gave them 120$ and told them to keep the change. The toilets were clean. I’ve been to county lodge several times before this and it is not what it once was..; they need to tread carefully… this experience was unacceptable and word gets around.

Looks like they put out leftover dinner for breakfast. Ex penne and rice. A few forks and cups on the table were dirty. The milk for the coffee was spoiled. The water did not go all the way down in the shower.

• Global608154 (2/5): Avoid! - Hotel with a terrace restaurant overlooking city/ocean. Our reservation was mishandled and we got an awful room (room 202) on the second basement with a view to a backyard with rubble and LPG tanks. The room had no hot water; the phone was not working, the balcony door and its grill could not be locked, the entrance door's handle was shoddy and could not be secured from the inside, the bathroom ventilation hatch looked onto the main hotel corridor, the shower area was dirty and stained with sealant also flooding the rest of the bathroom. During the second day we went from no hot water to no water at all without warning. The stench of drain pipes invaded the corridors and the room. The corridor and staircases were filthy with wet muddy footsteps. Only when you complain vehemently do they exchange our twin room for two separate rooms as no other twin rooms were available. In one second room the safety box was not working and the air-conditioner leaked into the balcony. In the other, the TV remote control had no batteries and the bathroom floor was dirty. I asked for a drink as compensation and they sent a can of cola to the room. Even those rooms which are OK have maintenance and housekeeping issues. Low safety: entry doors cannot be secured from inside. In my first room balcony door and its grill could not be locked. What a place!

The staff and management are very friendly, helpful and polite. The junior suite was very spacious and comfortable. We always looked forward to the buffet breakfast which had a great variety of both African and intercontinental dishes.

The roomshave been updated and looks great.The staff are amazing, very friendly, and helpful. Customer service at its best comparable, if not better than a few places in the UK where l reside. It was also very nice to see John the general manager of the hotel interacting with the hotel guests asking for improvement feedback. I was also impressed with the cleanliness standards, l observed both day and night cleaning was consistently by carried out by a group of staff. I also loved the hotel location on a hill next to the president residence overlooking the city and the sea. Both day and night, l admired the beautiful view of Freetown and the sea. The hotel has a great restaurant, and l enjoyed the buffet breakfast with a great variety of both African and intercontinental menus to choose from. Normally, l don't eat lauch or dinner at hotels l stay in, but at this hotel due to the great quality, variety and great tasing menu l changed that. My wife is normally a food critic was highly impressed and gave them her thumps up. Nothing, my observation from my previous stay 2 years ago, have all been addressed

• Verified traveler (6/5): I would like to express my disappointment - It was wonderful to be back in Sierra Leone, and given your hotel's reputation, I was excited to stay here. However, I was surprised to find both the hotel and restaurant rather empty. I was also disappointed that the breakfast menu was almost identical for the entire week, perhaps due to the low occupancy. Other hotels in the city, even with fewer options, make an effort to change the menu daily. I was also surprised to be asked for a card charge at checkout, which is something I have not experienced at other hotels. The reception staff did not always seem to prioritize customer service, as they were sometimes seen eating snacks or using their phones at the counter. Additionally, the Wi-Fi was weaker than expected. The restaurant manager was very friendly and helpful. Overall, I was disappointed with my stay as it did not meet my expectations. I hope these issues can be addressed in the future.

• Simon (8/5): Quiet Safe Location with Good Views - Nice location overlooking Freetown and the ocean. Quiet hotel with a nice breakfast. Internet is good too.
• Tamba (9/5): The place is very comfortable to stay - Customer service was very good I arrived at the hotel on one of the days during heavy rainfall; one of the staff was standing inside, but he was not initiative enough to bring an umbrella outside to help me work out of my car. I was held up in the car for a while. I wasn't happy with this.
