The blanket and comforter looked like they haven’t been washed in months. The climate control barely worked, froze my ass off because I wasn’t going to use a nasty blanket. So I don’t get good rest. The breakfast was nasty. Value for price was terrible.

We were awakened early one morning by an alarm that went off in the room next to ours. It persisted. Despite hotel staff confirming someone was in room and knocking on door, no one responded. Alarm continued. Annoying to say the least.

We walked through the front door and was greeted with a friendly smile which made our drive of 4 hours worth it! The cleanliness of the lobby and aroma of the atmosphere was definitely noticed!! The room was perfect! Breakfast was fabulous with a wonderful selection to choose from and welcoming dining area to enjoy your meal. We enjoyed our stay so much we made sure to stay again when we traveled back home and we were greeted again with a smile. The 2nd time we had a king suite and it was just as wonderful! The fact that the T.V. greeted me when I turned it on, made me smile! Would HIGHLY recommend this hotel!! There was nothing I wasn't pleased with!

My 75 yr old mom loved the coffee pots in our rooms lol. She was also impressed with the full size ironing board in the fancy closet. The price was good with using Booking.com. I will be looking for these hotels in future travels! Thank you! The pool water needed to be allot warmer... Definitely.

Melissa (3/5): - We had 3 families booked to stay at this hotel, I booked 2 rooms and the other family with 2 small children booked a room the same time I did. We arrived about 530pm to check in. I was able to check in and get my 2 rooms, other family was told that they didnt have a room for her, they over booked. even though a confirmation number was given. No supervisor on duty to help with the situation. While at the front desk a man checked out, how convenient, when asked if there was someone to clean the room that was just checked out of so the family could stay in the same hotel as the rest of us, we were told my front desk they couldn't do that. Why not? Bc their not housekeeping? It doesnt take much to strip a bed and wipe things down. Bad customer service with on duty staff. Little kids upset, just wanted to stay, swim, have fun after attending the Iowa State Fair- this happened. Went next door to another hotel, that lady was super helpful, gave us good rates and we were able to get them a room next door. Then brought them back Fairfield to swim. Fairfield needs to do some cross training or something during busy times like the Iowa State Fair. No reason for any of this. And train their staff about good customer service. Saw other reviews about the front desk staff not being friendly either. Bad attitudes non accommodating is huge in the custom service industry. Hotel building was fine, rooms were clean. Pull out couch was like sleeping on a prison mat. Didnt eat the breakfast. Went to the Machine Shed! Also in room 210 there's a screw hanging out of the door frame, door didnt really close the best- and of course when checking out to report it- no front desk staff there. Another guy had been standing there waiting to check out for about 10 minutes before me- said screw it, threw keys down on the desk and walked out.

Friday night, there was a softball team on our floor and they were very loud, until very late. A bunch of girls screaming and giggling until midnight was way too long. We were there for a volleyball tournament which our team took very seriously, so it was tough for my daughter to get sleep with the noise. Saturday during the day, there was a dog barking on and off all day. The website says no pets, only service animals. If a service animal was needed, it would have been with the people or it would have been trained better. The poor dog was in the room much of the day by itself.

HankR961 (10/5): Great place to stay on cross country trip - We stayed here on our trip from PA to CO. The location is awesome on the west side of Des Moines and easy on and off I 70. The staff was wonderful; very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Maybe the best part was the breakfast buffet. We have stayed at many properties that offer complimentary breakfast. We usually pass, but this was provided with such care that we sampled the offerings before getting on the road. It was delicious. You won't go wrong if you stop in to this property.

William (6/5): - Front desk clerk could use a lesson in friendliness and professionalism. Hot tub and pool were closed and nothing on their website indicated this. The front desk clerk didn't even say anything about it. Ice maker was not working on second floor. Our key wasn't programmed correctly and we had to make a second trip back to main desk where the clerk said " I think it will work now." Room was clean, bathroom needs maintenance. Breakfast was nice.

Thomas (10/5): - It was so clean and well maintained. The room was fabulous. Patricia at the front desk was so focused on guest services and making sure that each guest was happy with their stay.

Jamie (4/5): - Staff was not friendly or inviting at all. Everything was broke (hot tub, treadmills, elevator etc) room had a weird smell. Not worth $200 AT ALL. Won’t be back unless it’s comped for the experience.

Shania (10/5): - This hotel was a breath of fresh air for us. We had a bad experience when we booked a different hotel, so we booked this one right away to stay the night and the staff was so welcoming when we came in! The rooms were amazing and the breakfast was great!
Linda (10/5): Perfect stop after a long day on the road - It was easy access from Interstate. Everything was clean & quiet. Breakfast was typical but good.
David (5/5): We just needed a place close to relatives for a couple of nights. Basic. - Pretty good access to airport. Elevator was not well maintained. Exercise equipment was broken in the fitness room. Room was small for four people.

Douglas (10/5): - The Fairfield Inn was clean and in good condition, but starting to look a little old inside. I would rate our stay as safe, quiet, and clean. The hotel was also conveniently located (i.e., easily walkable) to several restaurants (including Culvers, one of our favorites). We would stay here again.

Christopher (9/5): Was very short stay - staff was friendly and helpful. - Breakfast was adequate. Room very comfortable and clean. Location easy to get to. A little older - maintenance needed to be completed. Door lock to fitness area not working. Room window security broken.

Linda (4/5): Disappointing - Did not have soap for sink. Hotel said they had run out. WiFi did not work. And TV remote did not work—did not change channels!!!
Jonathan (8/5): - We stayed on a busy weekend with a lot of other sports teams staying in the hotel. Overall it met our needs the staff was great, the rooms were good enough. Our bathroom was a little dated and the AC sounded like a jet engine. The breakfast definitely could be better but was good enough if you just needed a quick meal.
Amanda (8/5): Very good - Clean room Air conditioner made the strangest loud noise when running that literally vibrated my bed like a subwoofer. It was so bad I had to keep it turned off.

Janet (10/5): Very satisfying! - We were very happy with our stay. Hotel was clean, rooms including bathroom were clean and updated. Pool and hot tub were open and operational with pool towels provided. Around 10pm from our room, we could hear kids yelling from the pool. We called to the front desk to ask if the kids could quiet down and very shortly, it was quiet. Staff at front desk was very friendly at check in and out. Breakfast area was clean and breakfast options were good including hot breakfast. Overall, a great experience.

Veronica (8/5): Very clean facility. Good location. - I didn't eat breakfast very often, but when I did there was a good selection of food. The hotel had been remodeled so everything was new and clean. There wasn't anything specific that I didn't like. The weather, but no one can control that!!!!
Susan (4/5): - The sheets on the bed had not been changed since the prior guest. It was obvious someone had slept in them. The management promptly changed out the sheets when I brought this to their attention.

kaylamI4617WA (2/5): Pool bleached suits and staff wouldn't listen to complaint - DON'T STAY THERE! We stayed at Urbandale Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in of March 2024. The pool water had so many chemicals in it that all of the girls swimsuits were completely ruined and bleached. When we confronted staff they said nobody else had complained, and wouldn't listen to our complaint. When we talked to other staff the following morning, they said they have had other complaints and should close the pool down until it is fixed, but management won't listen. We got a number for corporate and have multiple tickets in, but never get a call about it. When we follow up they say that the ticket got closed.
