Furniture looks like it was from an Op Shop, however, it was comfortable enough. Dishes were cardboard and cutlery was bamboo. No sheer curtains - only heavy drapes, so lack of privacy.

• Michelle (10/5): - Mid City Motor Inn is my go-to accommodation whenever I’m in Mackay. The staff are consistently warm, friendly, and welcoming, which always makes my stay feel extra comfortable. The rooms are spacious, well-maintained, and spotlessly clean every time. I also really appreciate the in-room amenities like the microwave and kettle, perfect for longer stays and added convenience. The BBQ area next to the pool is a fantastic bonus and great for relaxing evenings. The location is another highlight, just a short 3-minute walk to Caneland Central, making shopping and dining incredibly easy. Overall, an excellent place to stay. Highly recommended!

Hot water took 10 minutes to come through to the shower head then went cold as soon as you tried to turn on a dribble of cold water. Water pressure was hardly enough to wash shampoo out of short hair.

No one at reception. Late tired I stayed morning, no one in reception Called. Said be there by 8. Rang 8:10. more annoyed. When he arrived, I said I wanted a refund as the room was a disgrace. He just looked at me. I said, I’d show him. Yes, I was angry. Yes, I raised my voice but I didn’t yell I showed him the issues. No apology. He stared at the couch. No comment. It appeared he was working out how to blame me He agreed to a refund, then said, You stayed the night. you could see the condition but you stayed. said I could have called. then asked what I had taken from the room. I said, taken? Do you mean used? shampoo soap. coffee biscuit. I didn’t Take anything. He told me to leave the juice and small cereal I’d selected for brekkie. He asked why I was so angry. I said, because I was put in a room that breaches health and safety. He said, the price reflected the condition. $142 for squalor? I said, I’m sure you don’t live like that, why do you expect clients to? Then he said I shouldn’t raise my voice because he was entitled to respect. He said I was to tell booking.com that he refunded the money Ok sunshine, here’s a lesson in respect 1. Actually pay the refund. 10 days later No money 2. Don’t put clients in a room not fit for a kennel 3. Apologise when you see it 4. Don’t inspect in a way that shows you’re looking to accuse the client 5. Don’t imply that the client stayed just to get a refund 6. Don’t accuse the client of stealing 7. Don’t demand a lousy juice and cereal is left 8. Show respect by offering more than a refund. 9. Saying that everybody can do it so why I couldnt? He arrived only to realise he couldnt open it either had to use the key. There was also a musty smell in the room and carpets werent vacuumed.

We had 4 adults in our room but only 3 drinking mugs and only 1 teaspoon so lucky I carry some with me. Under beds was not vacuumed. • Renee (7/5): - The location is great, close to shops and walking path. The room was ok, but could be better with some renovation. The mattress needs replacing.

• Matthew (3/5): the entire complex is now quite dated and needs a renovation. - bed was comfortable. the location is great.. The room had suffered a bad water leak. The carpet near the window was entirely soaked and the room smelt as a result. Also Another guest had park on the wrong side of the driveway preventing multiple guests from leaving. I had to door knock the rooms at 5.30am to ask the owner to move their car. The car had been incorrectly parked this way during office hours and should have been rectified by staff.
