Guest Reviews
- 295fatemat (10/5): 💘 - I love this hotel because the staff are wonderful and always helpful, the food is very good and varied, the entertainment team is good, and there are good and varied parties.
- adrianlS2443CM (10/5): ❤️ - Most of the things were good . Food was tasty and plenty to choose from the Bbq and the sweet selection was great. Could need a bit more improvement in the evening even if is its just some music on the background would make the sitting outside nicer. Overall a good experience
- DayTrip42025095577 (4/5): Very bad - Hotel is 4 star should be no more then 2 star staff only acknowledge you if you tip them otherwise they constantly stalk you until you tip, room's outdated food bland and please do not look inside the kitchen areas even the rats would have standards. Beach is man-made you can't swim water barley comes up to your knees.
Reception staff are awful soon as you check in they take you to a room and say you have to have this room for extra charge £40 more when you refuse they are quite mean and very rude they tend to go out of their way to be very mean to you whilst you are staying there, every thing about this place is to squeeze extra money out of you.
Give this hotel a wide berth it really is a place from hell.
- katiesN2263HD (2/5): Don’t book it! - First time in Egypt, what a mistake to book this hotel! My room was superficially clean, but once you start looking closer, it’s filthy.
I was at reception when other customers were complaining about the state of their rooms & speaking to other english customers saying the same.
It’s situated right outside the hospital with a busy 4 lane road outside, with constant beeping of cars all hours, shouting & screaming. Can’t really sit on your balcony if you face it.
The staff are lovely, all friendly but they will obviously do what they can for tips. You only get 2 small bottles of water a day if your room is cleaned. The beach is good, mostly shallow, far cleaner than the sister hotel next door. Which you can use but the state of its loungers & derelict buildings, we stayed at RS beach.
They charge extra for fruit smoothies, starting at €5 then going down to €2 during the day. You do get hounded a lot at the beach from staff for tours, spa Etc.
The worst part of the stay is the food. The quality is rubbish, mostly the same things each meal, but its the flies, they constantly land on the food, food tray lids aren’t always on properly, same vegetable soup daily, salad is dry from being prepared hours ago. No ice cream at all, cakes all dry.
When trying to eat, the flies dive bomb you, along with the crows if you’re eating outside. I genuinely don’t know how the foreign customers pile their plates with food when you can see the flies landing on it.
The only pro about this hotel is the friendly staff. If you’re booked here, eat at the marina.
- PaulaM159 (2/5): Avoid at all cost!!! - Do not touch this hotel with a barge pole - it is like Fawlty Towers and the restaurant is disgusting. When we pulled up and saw several off the lights broke in their hotel sign, I immediately got a bad feeling. The only 'nice' looking part is the area around the pool - as long as you don't look at the stained seat cushions at the tables. The area where the hotel is, off the main street, is full of unfinished buildings and treacherous pavements & kerbs.
Their Wifi only works in front of the reception. The doors and locks on the rooms are falling apart, the balcony railings are rusty, furniture in the hotel is dirty looking, but the worst is the restaurant area - it is so unhygenic. Tea is served in paper cups, the food is the same every day, dirty equipment is all around the serving areas and their gas cooking rings had bits of food all over them. The walls were dirty and I saw a waiter wiping crumbs of a table with a paper napkin which he then put on the table as he was setting it up again with knife and fork?!
The alcoholic drinks in the bar were awful and the barman looked like he didn't want to be there.
The beach is okay as long as you ignore the blue bags of rubbish they stack up and the birds swooping down to get food
The Spa was horrendous looking - stairs down to it were covered in fake grass covered in paint chipping. The girl at the 'reception' was a teenager in a hoodie who looked like you interrupted her phone chat. The rooms for massages do not have doors - so don't be modest! The actual massages were okay.
The room, thank goodness, although old and tired was clean and the shower was decent. The curtains were just tied up with a scrap of material with some paint splashed on them. Mind you, on our first night there about 4am a member of staff opened the door to bring newly arrived guests into our room! We mentioned it to the receptionist the next day and they didn't seem particularly concerned?! No apologies.
Their cleaning equipment was awful looking - an old dirty beach towel wrapped around a brush head and a hoover that was covered in dirt itself.
Thankfully we were only there one week and decided to eat out at local places as they were very cheap. Its easily the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Thank goodness it wasn't our first visit to Egypt or we would never go back. Don't stay in the main centre part of Hurghada - go to the resorts on the outskirts. Or even better - go to Sharm!
- SmallStepsAround (6/5): Holiday - Pro: the sun, worm/hot temperatures, the nature (if you book trips from the resort), clean bedsheets and room (if you tip the guy daily) Cons: everything is based on tips. If you want kindness from staff, u better tip on any ocassion! The trip from airport to hotel showed me that Hurghada looks like Beirut from the movies (scary place, no traffic rules, honks every 5 sec, on every corner a guy was popping out). Inside resort is safe (u got a metal scanner on the entrance and a guard) but I would only feel safe to walk outside resort on nights if I had the whole Expendable crew to guard me plus some Navy Seals. On days you can spot armed police and army check-points all over Hurghada which I guess increase the safety of day walks. Food at all inclusive is a lot but with no variety (so most days you ll get the same menu). Lot of sweet pastry which I liked. Do not eat on outside tables as crows will steal your food from the plates. Do not drink any unsealed water here!! Do not use tap water for anything else but washing ! There are some evening activities with music in the resort ( but they really need to invest in some equipment!!) Also is a bar where you can get drinks. I would suggets to bring your own cups as the way they wash the cuttlery is not great! The beach is not great (sunbeds that you need to wake up at 5-6 AM to put a towel on or some weirdoes with no sleep will reserve them for the day). Rocky sea entrance ( you need water shoes or you ll hurt your feet) Hardly under one meter depth so no room to swim and full of jellyfishes and trash at the entrance as the wind blows it during nights. Did not saw any musquidos wich is a plus. Everybody on the beach is trying to sell you a boat trip, a tattoo or a spa - which is ok as they are friendly while doing it - but I ended up paying almost 400£ on those treats (they really know how to sell their stuff :-)) No WIFI at hotel - the lobby one is a joke - no connection or failing to connect. Do not in your life buy a voucher to get WIFI in your room/hotel area. Paid 20£ for 7 days - you got a Fred Flintstone / stoneage level internet of max 3-4Mbs with constant failure. More reliable is a data SIM - Vodafone or Orange - get it from airport on arrival - 15£ - last your whole trip - 30GB - traffic around 10Mbs. 4 stars rating in Egypt is 2 stars in Europe/UK at the best - remember this! If you go shopping around the resort you need to negociate every time or you ll be taken for a fool. You can get 50-60% of what they original ask you as a buying price. You have Hurghada Mall at 10 min walk from resort with a Carefour in it if you want to buy bottled water to have it in the hotel. In conclusion, you get what you pay for - modest resort with acceptable food, acceptable beach (there is a medium size pool in the resort but I did not try it) but with rocky / dirty sea water. It was OK for a holiday and to try Egyptian culture. Is weird now as on my first day I was shocked now I ended up missing it. 🫣🤭

- juliefow (2/5): Awful - unsafe and filthy. - Only giving one star as I cannot leave zero stars. This place should be shut down. I travelled with a female friend and it was absolutely terrifying. Within 10 minutes of arrival the bellboy had DEMANDED money for taking our cases one flight of stairs in a lift. He physically intimated us and refused to leave the room until we paid. The private beach is covered in litter and debris. The bedding, toilets and towels were filthy (including human waste on door handles). The sun loungers are literally falling part and there was a tank of dead and dying fish (which were part of the "spa complex"). The food was completely inedible and mostly indescribable). Walls in the restaurant were splattered with food. The furniture in communal areas was very old and extremely unsafe. There were beer bottles everywhere as well as old bits of furniture tossed all around the beach with jagged edges. We were moved to different rooms 3 times in less than 18 hours. None of these rooms had internal locks!! We booked our own flight home after being there less than a day, and being threatened by some rather shady people who worked at the hotel. We booked this holiday via TUI - and they left us high and dry despite us ringing them, using the app and emailing them constantly since we arrived there to let them know we were in danger. Please please don't book this hotel or use TUI. EVER.
- Nashat (10/5): - Staff was great , front office, restaurants. Everything was real fantastic
- Ali (4/5): -
- Trip54062234835 (10/5): Out of this world loved every minute - Stayed at this hotel and couldn't get any better staff amazing manger does everything for you great food would stay there time again can't wait to go back
- noorhana618 (10/5): It was a good experience - I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The overall experience was excellent. The food was delicious, with a good variety of options that were fresh and well-prepared every day.
What really stood out to me was the staff — they were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help with anything I needed. Their positive attitude made the stay even more enjoyable.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable place with great food and helpful people.
- Lyusine (10/5): Nice - Nice hotel. Food is good. I had an amazing view from the balcony. Staff is attantive and friendly
- karendA9956MR (4/5): Noisy, tacky, dirty, awful food, unhelpful staff. Sunbeds old + broken. Dirty bedding. Beach towels reused - Located on a main road (that's a six lane road) not too bad during the day but boy racers use it to race along at night. Cars revving, horns sounding, incredibly noisy, couldn't sleep with the noise at night. Also a night club just down the road was open until 3am every morning, and the balcony doors didn't close properly so room was incredibly noisy.
Other holiday makers were of course friendly but most of the staff were very sullen and unhelpful. On my last day I asked if there was somewhere I could have a shower before the coach picked me up, but I was told there was no shower available, other than having a shower outside near the beach. I thought why not, how bad can it be? Turns out that the shower didn't work, the tap worked but not the actual shower. Hence I had to have a wash just under a waist height tap. Very, very, disappointing.
The manager told me that despite having arrived at 11.30pm on a friday, my all inclusive ran out at 12 noon the following friday and if I wanted any food or drink after noon I would have to pay! Plus he was very rude, this was the same guy who said there was no shower facilities available after 12 noon! I've travelled to Egypt and Hurgada before and stayed in some beautiful hotels, this was such a disappointment.
Room was dark, No ceiling light, just 4 small dim lamps probably only 10watts each, couldn't even see to read. I guess it could be described as atmospheric, assuming you wanted a vampire vibe. The sliding doors to the balcony didn't close properly, (and would't lock, hotel maintenance couldn't resolve the problem) so traffic noise was very bad and obviously not reassuring from a security and safety perspective. The hair dryer had exposed wires. The key card slot was coming off the wall, The lamps over the beds were hanging off the walls. The sheets on the bed were dirty (which you could only see during the day when the curtains were open as it was too dark at night). Both the base sheet and the quilt cover were incredibly bobbly felt like a wooly jumper rather than bedding. Tacky
Food was reminiscent of school dinners. Very repetative, very little choice, not particularly tasty, plus numerous hygiene issues. Staff touching salad with their hands and no gloves on. Staff with gloves on, rubbing their faces, then touching food. Staff putting fingers into glasses when putting them out for drinks. Unhygienic.
The Animations team were hopeless. There was no effort to offer holiday makers any activities during the day, despite there being a notice board saying activities were planned. The team were very difficult to locate, one day we saw one of the team and asked if the boules game (we'd seen advertised) would be happening. The young lady came back with some boules and we asked her how to play. Before she gave us any information, she asked us if she could take a photo of us with the boules, we said okay, she did this, then walked off and left us standing there bewildered. No doubt she'd use the photo to "prove" that she'd organised a game of boules, which of course she hadn't! The evening entertainment was poor, and most nights just the same, got really sick of seeing the Animations team performan Gangnam Style. Awful.
When you handed in your towel at the end of the day, some went into a wheelie bin and were wheeled away (presumably to be washed) others were carefully folded by the staff and put under the desk for use the following day! I don't mind reusing my own towel, but using a towel that has been used by someone else and not washed? Disgusting!
The beach was dirty, the jetty into the sea was full of floating debris. the staff made no attempt to clear away any of the rubbish on the beach. I appreciate that rubbish can float in on the tide and land on the beach, however having stayed at numerous hotels in Hurgada I've never seen rubbish on beaches at all, let alone on a hotel beach. Horrible.
The other British holiday makers were all complaing about the rooms, the food, the beach, the noise, etc.
All in all it was a dirty, noisy, tacky hotel run by unhelpful management. I could't wait to go home! And I usually love Hurgada!
- Ahmed Mansour (9/5): - Everything was good but, they don't reply to the land lines of the reception at all. Food can be eaten but, i had a stomachache all my night.
- tonywC3492FB (2/5): Worst Experiance ever - Worst Experiance ever, staff rude, so many people complaining at reception. Food horrible, even staff arguing with themselves resulting in security being called. Electric shock from Kettle, freezing cold shower.
NOT recommended.
- davidoM815KO (2/5): poor egytian hotel - Avoid at all costs. Pictures dont show real experience.room dirty, when we arrived had to pay £80 for internet & pool view, food & drink are very poor, constant begging cleaners early morning calls, reception staff are useless, kitchen staff & waiters not much better, we went out to marina for evening meals most evenings because of poor quality of food,
- O2839MQmelaniew (2/5): Never again, save your money and go somewhere else. Hotel is dirty food repetitive, bland and cold. If you like a drink - This hotel is the worst hotel I have ever stopped at
- Sherpa796419 (2/5): Avoid at all costs - Avoid at all costs. Pictures dont show real experience.
Lovely view of sea was only highlight
- alexsK4135QR (2/5): Never Again!! - Reception staff rude, food and drinks awful we ate out. Booked a sea view, we had to ask to be moved. Pool small and cold. Beach small and rocky. Constantly hassled to buy everything from massages to tattoos, no peace. DO NOT BOOK ANYTHING WITH FIRST MOON DIVING AND BOATING. They are complete rip off and MAFIA,as the REP referred to them. Booked a boat trip couldnt go because of the weather and they refused to refund us. Hotel staff constantly ask for money and unless you tip you may as well be invisisble. This place has really put us off ever returning to Egypt again. Also on leaving the airport staff were really rude and I have never had my luggage scanned or my passport checked so many times ever.
- V6240WEjulier (2/5): Don't book this hotel - Hotel is nothing that you see in the pictures.
Rooms are not nice bathroom shower was dirty the tap is something you can swing off ,a big crack in the sink.
The hot water in the shower had to run a hour before it got hot.
Not much choice in the food .
What you had for breakfast lunch or dinner was on the menu the next day.
They tried to charge if you wanted to change rooms.
Would not book the hotel again.
Once bitten twice shine.
- lorrainebX6391HH (2/5): Not recommended - Central but too busy, arrived late no bar open no offer of refreshment, booked sea view, which was on top of roof which looked like a building site, could not stay here, hotel VERY BASIC checked out following morning to alternative accommodation
- Q8007HSda (2/5): Avoid at all costs - This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had and I strongly advise people to avoid staying here. Went for a budget trip so didn’t have high expectations but for a supposedly 4 star hotel the standard was awful.
The hotel was extremely dirty. The room did not feel clean and the bedsheets were in awful condition. The bathroom was also very poor, the shower temperature would suddenly become burning hot and the shower flooded every time it was used. Towels are stained and have holes which is completely unacceptable.
The food was bland, overcooked and dry and the dining experience was frustrating. Cutlery was often hard to find and many tables were not cleaned properly between guests.
The private beach area was dirty and clearly not maintained. Towels and sun beds are in poor condition.
Staff were rude and at times felt harassing rather than helpful. The hotel also pushes a taxi service which I would recommend avoiding.
I would also be cautious about leaving luggage in their storage room, I personally would avoid doing this as it did not feel secure.
On top of all of this, the room was very noisy, making it difficult to sleep or relax as the street is constantly busy.
Location wasn’t too bad, was aware that we would be a distance from the city centre and you are able to haggle with taxi drivers to get there for a fair price.
Overall, this stay was extremely disappointing and nowhere near acceptable. I would definitely not return nor recommend anyone to put themselves through this.
- W3945EBdanielleg (2/5): DO NOT BOOK - I’ve just returned from a holiday at the Royal Star Hotel in Hurghada, and I am beyond disappointed. This so-called all-inclusive resort was a nightmare from start to finish. We were constantly harassed for money—by staff in the bar, restaurant, on the beach, and even by the cleaners, who knocked three times in one day asking for cash. We told the manager about the constant begging, and still, nothing was done. Even worse, they refused to give us the bus times for our departure until we paid them. The food was absolutely disgusting—no flavor at all—and the room was a disaster: broken locks, doors that wouldn’t close, and a shower that never drained. This place is a total rip-off—I would never recommend it to anyone.
- Angela (10/5): Lugar maravilhoso -
- I9618NGemilyb (10/5): Don’t loose your towel or else - Charged £40 instead of £4 and no one would give me it back. When the bank got in touch they said they didn’t have a pharmacy on site… when they do. Towel guy was horrible and I felt like I was in a boot camp when they refused to give me another towel in the pouring thunderstorm that caused the whole hotel to leak (however a great memory). They acted like I would have stolen a bright orange towel. When really the same towel guy had cleared it away when I left it there when the mosquito mist came down.
Other than that was fab. - booked to go again!! lol. They made a fuss of me on my birthday. Staff all lovely (except towel guy).
I hope he’s in a better mood next year.
- sambV6464HB (2/5): Vile disgusting run down piece of poo - I stayed there was supposed to the 31st till the 7th ended up having to leave on the 4th as its disgusting our toilet wasnt even connected to the floor there was an entire day with no running water during which we was refused bottled water so i had to pay another £400 to get back home early, i raised these complaints to loveholidays and even provided evidence and the hotel deny it all so ive been refused any kind of refund please if you value your money do NOT visit this hotel and definately do not book through loveholidays both of them are just thieves in disguise
- T499PIsharons (8/5): Good holiday - Had a great holiday at Royal Star Beach Resort, the food was ok much much the same but we didn’t starve, the room was lovey over looking the sea with 2 balconies. All the staff were amazing couldn’t do enough for all the guests, the only thing is the hotel wraps around the pool so it is always in the shade, but the beach is right by the pool which is sunny
- R9983LZalisonb (2/5): DO NOT BOOK - Please do not book this hotel, bedroom door will not lock, whole room a disgrace, held together with by the skin of its teeth. Unhygienic. Food a big no. I moved to another hotel at my own expense, waiting for Tui complaint outcome. There is no way this hotel should be on any tour operators website
- Exploration591760 (4/5): Avoid if possible otherwise definitely don't pay more than you would a 2* hotel - This hotel is very tired. We stayed for a week but would definitely not return. During winter months the pool is in the shade. It can't be helped of course but it doesn't make you want to spend time around the pool. The beach is very small and you feel like you're chasing the sun all day. Not a sandy beach or sea, so you need water shoes. You can use the hotel next door and they seemed to have sun longer but they had an even smaller beach.
Food - Not a great variety but omelette bar, fresh pizza and fresh pasta sauce made to your liking.
Staff - the majority of staff are hard working and very friendly. The one's that aren't, spoil it for you. Of course they want tips and I will tip when I have received good service. I don't tip to get good service. There is a difference. Creepy man on reception when we arrived made us feel very uncomfortable. He was also very rude the day we left. We were not leaving the hotel until after 6pm and so we checked out early so we could spend the day at the beach. He demanded I give him my passport until I returned my beach towel, he was told no. He also told my friend he was cutting off her wrist band at checkout despite us having another 7 hours until pick up. At our transfer pick up we met a family who had their bands removed at checkout and they had to go out for the day to get food for their kids.
Rooms - very old and tired. Bathrooms need a good revamp. They were clean but they are in desperate need of a regrout. Avoid rooms at the front of the hotel. The constant noise of traffic and cars beeping at all hours through the night is awful. Bedding was old and worn. Towels were old and different shades of white. Very minimal lighting in the room of a night and the bedside lights didn't provide enough light to read by. No main ceiling lights either. The air con worked but was very loud.
Entertainment - we barely saw the animation team. They were very friendly when they wanted to sell tickets for their tombola. Some of them actually looked desperate to sell them. We were told there was yoga, pilates, aquasize and much more. We didn't see anything like this. There was nothing for kids to do at this hotel. The few kids we saw at the hotel just looked bored.
Drinks - the local alcohol they serve is awful. It has a chemical smell & taste and you couldn't tell the difference between vodka and gin. They tasted the same. Other guests said the same about the rum & whisky. If you are staying here bring your own from duty free or there is a shop a 5 minute walk from the hotel that sells alcohol called Jukebox.
Hurghada - We were very wary about how safe we would be. When we did go out we found it to be safe. Apart from shopkeepers trying to get us to come into their shops or taxi drivers trying to get a fare we did not feel harassed. We used Uber to take us to the Marina for an evening out where there are plenty of restaurants, bars and shops. I would highly recommend The Moon for food and drinks. Lovely food and friendly staff. Ollies bar also did nice cocktails.
If you have booked this hotel or are at this hotel and you are struggling for food, come out the front of the hotel and turn left. About 5 minutes down the road there is a cafe bar called Shahrazed cafe. Food is like pub grub and they serve decent alcohol. Just ask for the premium not the local. It's very cheap too.
- 1393hols (4/5): Do not recommend - Hotel is rundown and of very poor standards. People say you get what you pay for but it’s shocking paid £710 for a week paid less for a week at other hotels and had great experiences!!
Rooms very basic, poor lighting, bedding and towels are of very poor quality, the rooms are cleaned in a fashion and fresh bottle of water is provided daily.
Had to move rooms due to noise on the front of hotel, reception offered another room at a premium- why would I pay again? Second room provided had to sign declaration to say I was happy with alternative even though I hadn’t slept in it. It was slightly quieter.
Dining Room - like a glorified canteen, lived of pizza, pasta & salads for a week. There are only 3 stations offering hot prepared food definitely not enough for the amount of guests. If your face fits and you continually tip you get good service ie dirty plates moved which is what staff are paid for, it’s not as though I can pop them in the kitchen myself …
Alcohol- absolutely disgusting if you want to drink bring your own alcohol with you it’s like drinking chemicals they all smell and taste the same!! Not drinkable at all.
Glasses are filthy at breakfast you are offered paper cup to drink from or glass with no handles for hot drinks.
Staff - some amazing friendly, helpful people who definitely deserve tipping the smile and acknowledge you throughout your stay - Mohammed young lad very sociable and friendly to everyone 👏
He works in the bar area mostly and is happy always. He will serve you and try and find the right glass for you to drink a hot drink from.
Reception staff - inappropriate comments to lone females and very rude at the end of your stay demanding towel card back and taking passports of you until towel card is returned- I can assure you, your towels are safe they are disgustingly.
Want to cut your all inclusive band off at 12 noon as they say your holiday is finished, definitely keep it on my holidays ends when I leave the hotel.
Pool / beach staff - lay towels on certain beds and then walk guests to them for tips - my advice claim the bed, some of these sit empty until they can get a tip we were quite capable of putting our own towels down. The beds are made out of wood and are falling apart , very heavy to move & have well worn mats on them.
Toilets are not cleaned enough throughout the day and there are only 2 for anyone on the beach. Showers are vile only one worked and barn doors do not lock, nowhere to hang towels or clothes.
Beach bar - not great but lovely kind man serving all day long with a smile , thank you!
Entertainment- terrible, young kids begging you to have pictures taken “doing an activity” so they can show
their manager. Asking you to buy tickets then practically pleading with you to buy tickets saying they have to sell so many, it’s awful to see and never in my travelling experience have I been asked to buy tickets. It’s very poor quality entertainment and also hit and miss if anything should occur. We are now in February and hotel is still advertising up to 17th January activity and weather.
Excursions/Spa/Tattoos/Perfume man - they are trying to earn money I get it but it is non stop mither despite being firm and telling them no they sit on the end of your bed telling you over & over again it’s just not needed when you are trying to relax.
Massage man has been heard telling most guests they have issue with shoulder simply by massaging hand….
Orange Bay / Snorkelling - fab trip book with Get your Guide excellent experience and out for 8 hours, we booked before we arrived no issues and great communication re pick up etc
Marina - beautiful evening out nice for quality drinks & food and so cheap. We went to Moon for dinner it’s amazing and would highly recommend. Ollie’s for drinks again great value and football was on !!!
Restaurant Shahrazad - when you come out of the hotel turn left walk for approximately 5 mins - good food, good atmosphere, was full of guests from hotel!!
Hurghada is lovely and I have been before, I would return but definitely not to this hotel.
This is an honest review of my experience in this hotel I would not recommend.
- paulinenX4319XY (8/5): Staff work so hard to please - Staff were so willing and helpful. Hotel needs a re-furb. Owners need to support their workforce in bringing the hotel back to its former glory. Outside area near pool is kept so well by gardening and pool staff. Rooms need better lighting so that you can read in bed. Enjoyed the break. Hurghada museum was interesting and marina very nice. Interesting fish market and mosque. We used hotel taxis rather than hassle of bartering. Enjoyed trip on boat where you can see coral and fish through windows in bottom of boat. Enjoyed food. Pastry chef was one of the best i have encountered. Well done.
- Camper59369393869 (10/5): Amazing fun - Animation Team
Visited last Jan 25 loved the easy-going, familiar and helpful staff on the animation team.
Alot of the activities happen at the sister hotel next door but the team this year Jan to Feb 26 have made the effort to let us know about all events happening and have felt very much included. Andy,Hannah, Elaine and Mariam's personalities have been exceptional making this stay fun, hilarious 😂 and brilliant!! Keep up the good work you guys have been amazing 👏 ❤️ 🙌 👍 thankyou! Will be booking to come again.
- U9659ZNelaineh (8/5): ❤️ - Friendly
the location is great as it’s on a beach
Staff is excellent
The rooms are clean
The atmosphere is great
Quite area great for family
- chloecU9495SJ (10/5): Hotel review - Amazing place. Animation team has a great variety of shows and dances. Plenty for adults and kids to do. Animation team are very friendly, very nice people. The rooms are great, great variety of food. Would recommend
- antonyr393 (2/5): AVOID AND FIND AN ALTERNATIVE - Avoid this disgusting hotel. We have just come back and it’s the worst holiday we have has in Egypt. The hotel is rundown, the food is awful, the staff are rude, expect you wine served in a latte glass, the rooms are filthy and the beach is not attractive at all.
- ovidiucristinelh (2/5): Avoid this hotel!!! - The worst hotel I was seen on couple years i have travelled.
Very filty room with old furniture,we get a room at te top floor facing the main street.
We move out for difrent hotel.
At the breakfast place we are scared to eat because the filty place and poor option.
Pool area has the pool ligth hanging on the water, no sandy beach, only stone.
Horrible.
- Companion21420068527 (2/5): Do not stay here. - Thank God we only stayed here for one night before our Nile cruise.
Our room was on the fifth floor, the rooftop. From the lift to our room was a deathtrap. Lightning was poor and we felt like we were walking through a builders rubbish yard. Then the room itself. Outdated, falling apart, unhygienic, unsafe 😳 Then the food 😳All I can say is un-eatable, thank god we were not hungry. We wandered around the pool area which looked OK.
When we checked out at 4:30am the receptionist sent the bellboy to check our room. I suppose it was to see if it was still standing or if we had decorated it 🙄
- steivip (2/5): Avoid at any cost - Unfortunately, our experience at this hotel has been completely unacceptable.
Upon arrival, we found our room to be unhygienic and poorly maintained. The bed sheets were dirty, the bathroom and amenities were filthy, and several pieces of equipment in the room were not working. The food provided was inedible and did not match what was advertised.
There is also a loud air conditioning unit located directly next to our room that produces a constant humming noise, making it impossible to rest. In addition, the bedside lamp is broken and not securely attached to the wall, posing a serious safety risk as it could fall and cause injury or damage to our belongings.
Most concerning of all, one of the towels provided had visible blood stains, which is a severe hygiene violation and completely unacceptable.
Furthermore, staff members within the resort area have been repeatedly approaching us in a pushy and intrusive manner to sell services. This behavior makes the environment uncomfortable.
We have documented all of these issues with photos and videos, and this situation was evident within the first three hours of our stay. Under these conditions, the hotel is uninhabitable and unsafe.
As a result, we are refusing to stay at this hotel and are requesting either a full refund or immediate relocation to an alternative hotel of equal or higher standard.
- paulinecT9509EX (2/5): Worst hotel - I would not advise booking this hotel as it is NOT a 4 star as advertised. It ruined our 1st ever Christmas and new year. We had 3 room changes and even the 3rd wasn’t satisfactory. Bedding had holes in it, pillows yellow, mis match bedding, towels stained. Lights hanging off walls. You could see hand marks on wardrobes and back of doors in rooms. We had one working socket so kettle was boiled on bed. We moved the bed cause I dropped an earring, we were disgusted with what we saw. Even though the rooms were cleaned everyday and fresh towels put in we never felt clean. We had to run the shower for about 20 mins before there was any heat to the water. The shower was not clean.
We ate out mostly every night. All we would eat a breakfast was eggs or toast. Lunch for myself chips. Non of the food looked appetising. Alcoholic drinks tasted horrible. I wish more people were honest and put reviews on cause as I said our festive period was ruined. Only thing that kept us there was the sunshine.
- dianakY2950FB (8/5): Diana - The place has beautiful views, the sea, the boats are magical, you don't need to fly to the Maldives or Seychelles. The desert is fantastic. The architecture and history are superb. Luxor. I'd give the hotel a 3-star rating, but it needs renovation. The food is good after choosing/changing. The cleanliness is okay but nothing special. The staff is fantastic. The hotel spa is good but needs a refresh. The staff is amazing. The hotel beach is clean with good palm trees, close to boats there dirty. The entertainment is weak, with a bit of dancing twice a day and a show twice in the evening (maybe because i not a season). The hotel next door has more attraction for kids however we appriciate peasfull Royal Star. The pharaoh didn't catch me (sickness), but the camel had stolen my heart.
- G4181DWnicolah (4/5): Terrible hotel - Avoid this hotel. Do not waste your money. I have just returned from here after a weeks stay and Honestly it's the worst hotel I've ever stayed in.
There is no entertainment at all, drinks are disgusting and the food is just not edible. We ate out every night. You get chips once a week if your lucky then it's all Egypt local food which is bland. They do not cater for visitors. This is not a 4 star hotel it's more a 1. I dont usually write reviews but I feel its needed to help other travellers.
- 830leonf (6/5): NO KIDS CLUB ! SAYS THERE IS BUT ISNT SO BEWARE ! - Booked for 3 weeks granted it was cheap enough and the hotel was decent and all the staff were brilliant but don’t fall for the trap of kids club. There isn’t I wouldn’t have booked if they hadn’t have lied on itinerary.

- julienV6211FN (4/5): Extremely poor - I was there for 11 nights in December was not happy definitely not 4 star as advertised lucky to be a 2, had to move rooms still poor better view but noisy. Was in contact with TUI for the first 5 days as needed to move unfortunately still not sorted. Had to go to another resort nearby as needed to relax comfortably & have nice food & drink. I am perusing Tui for some kind of refund or compensation as the experience was absolutely horrible.

- P7147HKavam (10/5): very very good - all is good here the atmosphere is amazing and the staff are so polite and cant do enough for the people, it is amazing value
- karenjH3172JD (2/5): Awful - Hotel is so bad , most things are broken , the whole hotel is in the shade , the bar looks like the washing up area . We’ve just been here over Christmas , the restaurant manager was torturing us to buy a gala ticket for December 25 th party , he really wouldn’t take no for an answer and said he’s gonna lose money as he already wrote the ticket out , every tout on the beach tortures you for business, the food was hit and miss most days , the hotel is in a really run down area and not tourist friendly, so your stuck in a terrible hotel with nothing to do , we got an earlier flight home , we have never had to get an earlier flight home , the hotel made my husband sign a waiver that we wouldn’t try and claim money back when we get home as we were leaving earlier . We have been to hurghada before and never encountered anything like this ever terrible place
- T5625AGclaireb (6/5): Basic hotel some nice staff but some need training on how to speak to customers.Rooms are basic . - When we arrived ,we were told our room wasn’t a garden view even though we showed him our booking .The receptionist was very rude and said get in touch with Love Holidays!Terrible customer service.Rooms fine and plenty to eat, everybody was complaining don’t know why??Have they never been to Egypt before??
Certain waiter s were cheeky expecting and hounding you for tips when they only realised you were going home in a couple of days.
- Jet00318700253 (10/5): Very nice Very good - Its very good place and friendly people. Definitely will come again soon Nice weather, very good food.Everithyng perfect.Good experience for spend time on Christmas time somewhere else.
- andrewcM5643XC (4/5): Low standards of cleanliness in rooms and some communal areas . - Our accommodation was disappointing . It was not clean to a reasonable standard and when we were given another room it wasn't much better . The ensuite bathroom had grime , mould and dirt in the corners and in the grout and sealant.. There were toilet fittings hanging off the wall and the poor state of repair of the grout and soil pipe too gave an overall impression of shabbiness not 4 star luxury .
The dining tables were not being cleaned properly with a residue of grease or grime smearing evident across some of them
In the dining areas and stairways there were stains on the walls and dust build up on the skrtings.
The cups in our room had residue coffee stains and the replacements still came back looking stained.
I would add that speaking to guests they too were upset by the disrepair evident and the uncleaness in general.
- Nurseyboy123 (2/5): You couldn't pay me to go back - This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The alcohol was completely undrinkable — so much so that we had to buy canned beer from a shop instead.
The food was awful; we survived on plain pasta for most of the week as it was the only thing we could stomach.
The touts on the so-called private beach were relentless and became aggressive if you booked elsewhere. Hygiene was also a major concern, as we saw a large rat being removed from the kitchen in a plastic bucket and being carried through the restaurant and even found glass in a plastic cup.
Sleep was almost impossible due to poor soundproofing, and once our all-inclusive wristbands were removed, staff showed little interest — even getting a Coke before our flight was a problem
- V1656ZVdavidp (8/5): Fabulous holiday - Loved the hotel and front of house staff. I was looked after by the bar and restaurant staff. The food was excellent and always had something I enjoyed. 😋
- H7161AHroberta (2/5): I Would Not Recommend this Hotel its NOT Five Star, Two Star at Best - The hotel was rated five star which is not true it would be generious to say two stars. Their menu was dreadful, in the end we had to eat out. The hotel was in need of maintenance just about evrything in our room was either broken of falling off the walls.
We did read the reviews before leaving but decided that maybe they were distorted because we know that the english like to complain about everything because its in their DNA.
The surroundings around the hotel were reasonable. First impressions of the hotel are good it looks amazing from the outside, however, you soon realise its short comings.
I would sincerely say to people avoid this hotel its the worst I have stayed in.
- Lyusine (10/5): Nice - Very nice hotel with friendly atmosphere , nice staff. Food is good. Animation is really really fun, alot of activities during the day. I loved it
- Wander766942 (4/5): Avoid this hotel - Don’t come here! Avoid this hotel, food not good, my wife had a bad stomach all the time we were here, don’t use the taxis outside the hotel as the men are constantly harassing you especially my wife who got touched inappropriately after telling the taxi driver no! He stalked her on Facebook and sent her a friend request, she hadn’t even told him her name!
There was a phone thief in the hotel who got caught but then was still allowed to stay!
Rooms are not great, things don’t work, WiFi is ok if you buy a package, drinks are not good, served in a plastic cup, some staff are pleasant but others are very rude! We come to Hurghada a lot and this hotel and experience has put us off! The Marina is good as you don’t get hassled and the restaurants are good!
Get up early for a decent sun bed otherwise you will be chasing the sun all day!
Shops in hotel rip you off! Won’t be returning to this hotel.
- jaysW2035MO (10/5): Nice hotel - Spent 7 nights here for my birthday with my wife ,the hotel itself is a little dated but ideal for the price we payed ,the food was fine ,plenty of variaty and always hot ,the staff in the resturants and bars were fantastic ,especially abdul and ahmed ,these two went out there way and more to make the guests stay all the better ,the pool was nice yet was suposed to be heated yet it wasnt ,the beach staff went beyond to help you get a spot in the sun or bring you a drink from the beach bar .the cleaners kept the hotel spotless but obvious the hotel in places could do with a new socket or maybe a touch up here and there ,overall we had a great holiday and would recommend this hotel and wil return at some point .thankyou royal star .
- Ibrahim (9/5): جيد جدا - الغرف نظيفه والطعام جيد جدا والعاملين بالفندق ودودين حمام السباحه الماء بارد
- keyevns89 (6/5): Room for improvement - Just back from a week’s stay at this hotel. I was a little sceptical before arriving due to several poor reviews, but never usually take too much notice. Sadly it’s not a hotel I will be visiting again.
We didn’t get off to the best start upon arrival. Hovering around in reception for around 45 mins waiting to check in. 3 of us allocated a room with only 2 beds, the receptionist offering us an upgraded room but we would have to pay the extra! They then try faffing around at 11pm trying to bring in another bed into a double room, which was literally impossible!!
The rooms are in need of a makeover, bathroom mirror hanging off the wall, bedroom lamp also broken, a TV and kettle that doesn’t work.
The food was very repetitive, which you can expect from all inclusive. The dining area is absolute chaos when queuing for food. It’s not the biggest of spaces, so with staff as well as guests, it’s a bit of a battle! Several times guests are having to wait for clean plates and cutlery. Coffee mugs are a rarity unless you want it in a paper cup! It became that ridiculous that we had to bring down the ones from our room!
The alcohol selection is pretty poor. Spirits not so great, we ended up bringing down our own which we bought from duty free upon arrival. You can see which guests have stayed there before as they bring their own glasses to take to the bar, otherwise you’re served in small plastic cups!
We didn’t realise until the second day that you can enter the sister hotel next door as well as another one behind the hospital. No information was given to us, it was a case of finding out for ourselves. You can use the outdoor bar and pool areas, but not the restaurant. Prepare to get up early if you want to claim decent sun-beds. Anything after 9am and you will struggle unless you want beds next to the sea, which can be quite breezy.
I can’t fault the hardworking staff, from cleaners to barmen and waiters. The majority were very pleasant bar the odd 1 or 2 when asking for things at the bar felt like a chore to them.
The free WiFi in the lobby is a waste of time, if you need WiFi I would recommend paying at the reception for a week which was very reliable, or look into buying an eSIM before you arrive or at the airport.
All in all we had an enjoyable holiday regardless of
the hotel issues, with great weather. This hotel can become so much better with a few little changes.
- Compass789551 (10/5): Beachside break - Mina from animation team really looked after me and made my holiday even more enjoyable, will definitely come back, and would recommend it, location on the beach is perfect. The food is good, the beachside restaurant is great, they even brought my food to the beach for me.
- Ian_Anders0n (2/5): Very bad food - • Hotel is a 3 star at best.
• Not 4 star as advertised.
• Beach is full of rocks, boulders, concrete, rubbish.
• Food is disgraceful, very little choice, very poor quality, always undercooked, chef can’t seem to even make a basic pizza margarita it arrived very undercooked and full of vegetables, if you want to actually eat nice food go to the pub next door it’s cheap and serves good food. Staff did advise after complaints that they would cook anything I wanted but due to the quality of food I said no.
• Wifi is not available in all rooms.
• DIY / noisy-dusty repairs being done around the pool area.
• Housekeeping staff are friendly but do a very poor job of cleaning the room. Bed linen does not get changed for the duration of your holiday. Balcony does not get cleaned at all. Wardrobes and shelves dusty so I would advise you clean before putting clothes inside.
• Standard of the room is not 4 star broken tiles, broken mirrors, broken electrical fittings, air conditioning as loud as a jumbo jet. Safe not secured properly in the room. Door insecure and large gap not safe in event of fire.
• Don’t use taxis / random cars outside hotel that shout taxi, use the uber app safer and much cheaper.
• Bellman will annoyed if you don’t have cash to tip him after he shows you where your room is.
- C9419BPdanutas (10/5): Warm memories of Hurghada. - I was in Egypt-Hurghada for the first time. 18/11/25 - 25/11/25 This hotel left very warm memories. All the staff were very friendly, to whom I am very grateful. My room number was 1106. Thank you very much for the cleaning and for the beautiful decoration of the bed👏. I want to say a special thank you to the guys Saied and Sam who work on the beach👌. I would like to mention the photo studio that is located in the hotel. I highly recommend the services of Sagr photographer.👌 Excellent work and quality. I also want to thank you for the food. Everything was very very tasty. Thanks guys👌. Also a big thank you to the manager Yasser for his ability to solve problems. I highly recommend this hotel♥️. I have hope that I will go again soon.....I almost forgot. Tourists will not be bored. There was always a show. Live music and so on.
With gratitude Dana🤗
- D4557WLsallyk (10/5): Honest review - This is an honest review i Was really worried about coming to this hotel after the reviews but I must say it wasn't as bad I was expecting i did upgrade to a Seaview room with 2 balcony's was very cheap but lovely room and view I found something to eat in the restaurant and im fussy fresh home made pizzas and a bbbq most days drinks are not the best though the beer is from the bottle but spirits are rough I drank wine spritzers which were nice and one of the things I liked the most was there is an English member of the entertainment team Andy was fantastic helping us with any issues we had and advising us on places we needed e en sorting g out something special for our anniversary so a big shout out and thankyou to him I would definitely come to this hotel again the atmosphere is great between the 2 hotels royal beach and empire beach beach
Thankyou Andy for all your help 😀
- soulsister331 (10/5): No complaints - Just back yesterday from a week at the royal star.
Check in was easy and straight forward, given a free room upgrade to a room on 5th floor with a spectacular view of the Red Sea.
Cleaning staff are fantastic, Ahmed was our cleaner and he was very friendly and gave us amazing towel art every day.
Restaurant and bar staff were very friendly and helpful, the food is fine, no Egyptian tummy and there are a couple of good local restaurants within 3 minute walk from hotel. Local restaurants are great value, shahzarad was the best, 4 main courses, 3 cocktails and 4 beers and shisha for £45!!!! An Uber to the marina in the evening is also a good option, lots of restaurants to cater for international tourists, rib eye steak at fiiends was £10 and cooked to perfection.
The animation team are lots of fun, they cover 3 different hotels and they organize yoga, Zumba, volleyball, mini Olympics, if the pool area is too quiet you can walk down past the perfume shop and access the sister hotel next door which has pool slides and a fun vibe. Don’t miss out the boat trip and snorkeling it’s worth it and we did the day trip to Luxor etc which was absolutely fantastic.
Spa has a hairdresser, massages, facials and threading if you want to chill out.
Honestly, ok parts of the rooms could do with a refresh which I believe they are doing at the moment.
- 70doris (6/5): Bad rooms - The hotel downstairs is ok but the big letdown for this hotel are the rooms. Old bedclothes that are rough on your skin .towels are old and thin and don't smell too good. Rooms not cleaned every day. I had an electric shock off the lamp plug when trying to find a socket that worked. Fridge and air-conditioning didn't work either..the food in the restaurant was good but very basic and the same every day. It's a get what you pay for hotel if you want better you have to pay more...
- G3030AWan (6/5): Won’t recommend, Hotel charges you for WiFi - The Hotel is alright, the wifi is not free they make you pay for it. They say the lobby wifi is free however it is sooo ridiculously slow no point even try using. This is the first hotel to charge for wifi! There are shops in the hotel so we bought a sim with 18GB for £12 for our 6 day stay. The food is not great it’s pretty much the same food same seasoning everyday. Desserts are too sweet and open to flies. There are cats running around in the hotel which come to the dining room too. The receptionist Ab El Rahman is so rude, not welcoming always on his phone tbh he seemed more racist to us as we were Asians.
We’ve only seen one cleaner and he is a man. There are no good restaurants near by and no shops to shop at either. The showers have really low pressure. There is a perfume shop near the beach at the hotel, also another scam if you see the reviews online for his perfume it’s really bad and doesn’t last long. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.
- 546gertrudew (4/5): Do not book to stay at this hotel - The truth and nothing but the truth. The Royal Star Beach Resort Hotel, at this time is not safe for people to stay there. The hotel is in need of major repairs. Restaurant Health and Hygiene standards is very low. No taste and menu was the same. Also, observed any left over food was re introduced as something else. Observed flies sitting on the cakes and dining table, other exposed foods. Rooms: Doors Room, 2116 key used to open the door? lock broken and once door shut observed a large gap in between the door frame. This is not safe as a fire hazard. Shower cubicle water outlet very, poor created a pool of water whilst showering. Fixtures and fittings old, rusty and dirty bolts supposed to be afixed to shower cubicle worn and in one corner loose. Beach also needs a big clean up as lots of rubbish.
Room change to 4th floor. Entry card system did not connect and automatically turn the electricity on fridge was not working, hand washer dispenser falling off the wall. Shower cubicle again Fixtures and fittings rusty, loose.
Staff dining some were helpful but others were rude for no reason.
Reception staff. Again some of them were nice others rude and one in particular was not trueful to you when following up with him regarding what he had told you the day before. Once challenged he was good at saying I did not tell you that? This type of behaviour was observed with other holidaymakers when they approached him to remind him of his previous replies to their questions. Finally, TUI did not have a reply or a booklet available at the hotel. Also, this travel company is aware of the reputation of this hotel but for some reason they continue to sell this hotel to holidaymakers. Seriously if you want to have a good holiday do not book at this hotel..Take care
- marymaisie1962 (10/5): The best holiday. - It's a great hotel in a fabulous location, the rooms are pretty basic but kept clean and towels changed daily. The staff are helpful, polite and attentive. The food is a little repetitive but pretty good. Top marks for the animation team. We're definitely back next year.
- Lfb461965 (4/5): Don't waste yr money booking this hotel . - Good. ...good size rooms plus some of staff
Bad ...food. housekeeping. Location. Entertainment virtually zero. Entertainment staff get people to pay a draw that everyone a winner in the sister hotel nxt door. We got back late and was told you wasn't here so ticket in bin.get told you can use sister hotel facilities. Went there to see if food any better ...no it wasn't and got shouted at to pay .
In our hotel pointed out to staff eggs and fish not cooked. They not bothered. I know a lot of people who became ill . The hotel said it was the heat.
They also charge you for 2nd key and wifi is shocking. Drinks are awful in little kids plastic cups. Even got told to move as couldn't eat where I was sat. Explained terrace was full and still got told to move. No milk in room. U have to go to the restaurant each day to get it
- K1502NXanthonyp (2/5): STAY AWAY. PERVERT STAFF ! - The hotel is filthy. Coubords falling apart. Shower door hanging off. Fridge didn't work. The workers were perverts saying rude comments to my wife when I was and wasn't around. Eyeing her up and down. Very unsettling when they are ment to be serving both of us. Some even insisting on taking photos with her. No chance. Horrible little scumbags
3rd time in Egypt and I would never go again because of this resort.
- Sightsee51245519896 (10/5): Nice - Very nice hotel. Have been several times and will come back again. Met new friends .food and drinks are nice.all employees are nice
- 671mariaadrianac (10/5): Very good - I'm glad I chose this hotel. Everything is extraordinary. The staff is very, very nice. The food is delicious. It's better than I expected. I'm loving it.
- mokas687 (10/5): Royal Star Hotel is a masterpiece and beautiful - This hotel is absolutely amazing! The Royal Star Hotel is a masterpiece, and the animation team are entertaining and amusing. They are very good and respectful. The food is fantastic and delicious. The restaurants were well-respected by the managers and reception staff. The rooms were beautiful and exceptionally clean.
- 354kaityp (10/5): 🩷 - Our stay at the royal beach hotel has been great so far, the entertainment team have been amazing, food is okay and room is clean.
- Milagros (7/5): Good - Place Food
- zlatomirad2025 (10/5): Animation team - Great animation team, they are very friendly and fun. Very engaging with people. Very good pool area with waterslides and life guards you can trust.
- Scenic66451681924 (10/5): Animation team - It's a very good hotel, the service is excellent, all the staff are very respectful, the animation team is wonderful, and all the activities are excellent.

- osborneheather (4/5): Very disappointed - This was our worst experience, first room handle hanging off the door ,second room towel rail fell off the wall twice in the bathroom ,marble sink underneath was already cracked and fell on the floor in pieces ,towels were hard and all threaded ,bedcovers were old & stained ..shower there was blue mould in it . All downstairs in the hotel was lovely ,please don't get a side sea view room as at night it's so windy the padio doors wind was blowing through them .big space in the room door I had to put the throw every night across it ...Ants on my bed killed 5 then 3 nights before we left was loads on the floor ..onli thing that made our holiday was the guys in the breakfast hall were lovely. The rooms need a good revamp with better hygiene

We were in Roayl beach for 5 days,he was taking care of us and all the other guests whole the time. I was w my grandmother,he arranged a room nearby the lift,so it was easier for my granny, because she has problems w her legs. He was there all the time, always asking,if everything is ok. Very kind person, never forget him. It was a pleasant stay. The hotel was clean, comfortable, every evening was there a kind of entertainment. Good and tasty food, kind staff, always helpful,cheerful,hard- working ..
Thank u ♡
- Ahmed (5/5): مقبولة و لكنها لم تكن جيدة كافية - It's was good breakfast Electric not work sometimes and some time no water i can't accept wake up no electric or no water
I have many something needs charging
- stoichescua (4/5): Needs serious improvements - I was allocated accommodation in the Royal Star Beach Resort for two nights before going on a cruise and two nights after the cruise, as part of the touristic package. As my stays were short, I was given rooms on the street side, next to Hurghada General Hospital. Noise was extremely loud, making it difficult to sleep.
Internet was a problem, they only had Lobby free internet, for room internet you had to pay, the absurdity was that they only has 3-days internet access even if I stayed only for 2 nights. There was no way to get login code for my accommodation period. I find this very rigid.
Beach towels looked worse than the cloth I use to wash the floors back home.
Sea access is poor, as the depth is shallow, making it impossible to bathe in the sea.
I would have given 1 star, as the food was very good. Cutlery is old, very used, we received drinks in plastic cups, even water. Bottled water was luxury.
They get 2, as they had a very cute cat family, which made my stay a little bit better.
- 289allynf (2/5): 4* ???? - This is not a 4* it’s more like 2”
To start it of we appeared to be disregarded when we checked in as another group arrived.
Rooms are dirty and out dated. Doors have large gaps around and many nails holding them together. The cleaner we had only makes the bed doesn’t change the sheets and appears to only sweep walkways. Had a coaster under desk all the time we had the room. It takes hours to return clean towels after they’ve been taken
Shower has no water or no hot water at times.
If you’re on the 5th floor it’s like a building site to get to the rooms. We was moved but it took several trips to reception to do this. Light fittings hanging out of ceiling. Trip hazard exiting the lift on the 5th floor (roof)
Food is not good. Very little choice and very repetitive. Nothing g for children.
Tables aren’t set very quickly after previous diner.
Specialty restaurant had poor service wasn’t offered starter or desert. Only saw a staff member when they took the order or brought food/drinks. When we complained was invited back but would have to pay $30/€30/£30 (I’ll let you work out the difference. But I suggest that you don’t pay in £)
The pool is 1.5-1.6m not child friendly for a so called family resort.
HEALTH WARNING!!!
if you have a fear/allergy to cats avoid this hotel. They are very friendly.
.
Now the positive's
Beach is nice but would recommend each shoes. Has some good snorkelling out by the bouys.
Hossam (Beach) was great very friendly and helpful Abdrabo Ali (beach bar) was amazing. Very friendly always had a smile and knew what drinks we wanted.
Staff at veranda bar were great. Never waited too long for drinks.
Mufasa from the spa Wasn’t pushy like others and always had a laugh.

- 25sienam (2/5): average - the food wasnt the best, hotel was dirty. pictures made it look nicer than it actually was. the drinks were very basic and tasted all the same.
- J2555NWmollys (2/5): WORST HOLIDAY - AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS! The hotel itself is dirty, the room was nothing like shown on the booking it was a construction site outside our window so loud had no sleep. Paid for all inclusive, the food was inedible, fruit and bread covered in flies, birds taking food off the plate you are eating from it’s disgusting! Me and my friend was rushed into hospital after getting E-Coli from here! the other two people had to pay to eat out everyday spending an extra £600 on food and water. Absolutely ridiculous I am now off sick and losing out on money at work because of your hotel! Worst Hoilday I have ever been on and I have made all of my friends and family aware and they will avoid at all costs. Best part we complained to the manager that took us round the food ‘buffet’ wasn’t much of a selection and asked what was wrong with the food we explained and he didn’t care had no sympathy. Shocking customer service.
- tonyprescott7988 (2/5): Absolute dump of a place - What an absolute dump of a place, booked from the 1st of October to the 8th , arrived late the reception area seemed dirty and grubby, got checked in and went to the room, walked in and the room was nothing like the photos we had seen, we had booked a superior sea view room and we were right in a corner, the curtains wouldn’t close and were hanging down, bathroom was dirty tiles in the shower were cracked and had mould on them, we went down to complain and was told to come back in the morning, next morning went for breakfast the food was not edible, saw the rep from Love Holidays told him our complaints he said come back after lunch, so we went to the beach and the towels we were given were like old rags, we ad had enough so we found ourselves another hotel, then the rep said oh we will show you another room!! No thanks we are going. He was supposed to ring me the day before we were leaving to arrange transport guess what no call. Please save your money DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL OR USE LOVE HOLIDAYS,
- 484vivienneh (2/5): Awful hotel - This hotel is dirty. The food is luke warm, we both had terrible stomachs from day one. The alcohol is undrinkable. Although we were all inclusive, we ended up going out to eat and drink, things were so bad. Stagnant water standing in shower, mouldy tiles, shower door hanging off. Only decent things - weather, beach and snorkeling. Do not stay here, you will be disappointed
- angelahM9784GT (2/5): Shocking Catfish Hotel - This hotel is definitely the Catfish of hotels. The images they share are not at all like what you actually get when you get there. The reception area is adequate but once you get past that the hotel is tired dirty and basically needs a complete overhaul.
The shower had mould in it and the doors didn't shut properly.
The sunbeds were just terrible uncomfortable broken and the towels they supple look like they have been chewed by rats.
Cats and crows all over the hotel with vermin control being a man with a wooden stick.
Food was basic breakfast ok but lunch and dinner so poor with chefs cooking in dirty chefs whites or blacks not sure tbh
I would not recommend this hotel or stay there again.
Only saving grace is the staff that work so hard to make the best of this Egyptian Faulty Towers.
- 87denitsap (10/5): Lovley experience! - Hello, everyone
This is my third time staying at the Royal Star hotel. A wonderful place for rest and relaxation. The hotel is located on a quiet bay of the Red Sea. Absolute peace and quiet For couples looking for privacy and more. The view of the turquoise sea colors of the Red Sea is unique from every point of the hotel. Relaxation by the pool and the beach is absolute peace combined with the day bars with fresh drinks. The hotel also offers various sports and fun entertainment. Daily sessions for yoga and stretching lovers. Also yoga exercises in the pool. Two or three times a week, day and evening show parties are organized by the pool and on the beach. You can enjoy romantic live performances under the night sky. The hotel staff is always at your disposal, who will make you feel special. The rooms in the hotel are clean and well-maintained, most of them with a wonderful view of the turquoise sea waters of the Red Sea. From the hotel reception you can take advantage of organized day trips to all the unique tourist places in Hurghada and around. The hotel restaurant offers a variety of delicious food for everyone, and once a week you can enjoy delicious Egyptian specialties. Here you can find an abundance of fruits and fresh juices with which you can refresh yourself on hot days. The staff and the atmosphere in the restaurant are super pleasant and always at your disposal. I wish everyone a wonderful stay at the Royal Star Hotel. Thank you to everyone! I will be there again soon!!! Special greetings your fan Denitsa ❤️
- carolinejL2590CW (2/5): Do Not Stay Here - Never ever would I go bk to this hotel absolutely dirty didnt have change bedding 1 cup in room for 2 peopke the first room we had was already occupied the second room view was of derelict hotel the 3rd room was dirty also varander full birds mess which wasnt cleaned all week the restaurant was stinking dirty same food every day no cereal for 2 mornings no toast you could make staff filling empty glasses and giving straight to other people rude staff also cats in restraunt and was not moved by staffi wouldn't give this hotel rating of 1 absolutely nightmare.
- JonW1914 (4/5): If price is your only criteria, you should still look elsewhere. - It's very difficult to rate our hotel stay. Here's what I fed back to Love Holidays: The staff were all lovely and as helpful as they could be. However, it seems they were constantly battling a long history of poor maintenance of a tired premises and what I will politely describe as lacklustre management.
We arrived quite late in the evening to a room with aircon that didn't work, no kettle, and grubby bed linen. The next day, three attempts to elicit remedy from reception were each met with "I will call maintenance to come now". It turned out this meant "I will call now, for maintenance to come at some point in the future" After two hours of this "game" I insisted on being moved to another room. None was available but I was offered an upgrade for $10 a day (another $130 total). I refused, but shortly afterwards was offered a "free" upgrade by a member of staff, which in reality required a $20 gratuity (Baksheesh, baksheesh).
Food was generally of a good standard, with a lot of selection and polite helpful staff. Except the concept of "vegetarian" and "no meat" seemed lost on them. My partner, who is a lifelong vegetarian was repeatedly assured "no meat, no meat" only to find food that did contain traces of meat, had been cooked in meat stock, or simply tasted meaty. At one point, while eating a "vegetable" vermicelli noodle dish, she found herself chewing on a large lump of undefined animal flesh. She hurried left the canteen in order to vomit. Consequently we regularly ate elsewhere, at additional cost.
Housekeeping was intermittent at best. When it was done it was to a reasonable standard by a lovely polite and caring lady. By halfway though our stay, it seemed she had been allocated another floor. Because after three days of no making up of the room, emptying the bins, cleaning the bathroom or replacing towels; during which time a cleaning trolly, complete with dirty laundry and a bag full of rubbish, had been left outside our room for 3 days. Yet another stand-off with reception until I managed to get the attention of the housekeeping manager. He thanked me for being his "eyes and ears", which only left me wondering what was wrong with his own eyes and ears!
Finally, "Animation Team" is an outdated concept, as old and tired as the hotel itself. Mature couples, relaxing on sunbeds, do not need to be constantly harangued by amateur 20-somethings that it's "Stretching time", "Yes, you must come", "It's good for you". It most certainly was not! Allowing myself to be badgered into participating, once, a small group of 50-70-somethings were led through a series of pseudo-yoga positions by an enthusiastic young lady who constantly cribbed the next pose from her phone. My partner, who also happens to be a trained and highly qualified fitness coach, and yoga teacher of 8 years, was horrified to learn we were expected to mirror the "Camel Pose" (please, look it up); by someone who, while young and flexible enough to manage such a potentially dangerous stretch, clearly had no training, no qualifications, no concept of A&P (anatomy and physiology), and I very much doubt was covered by any form of insurance for the inevitable slipped-disc or strained muscles. This practice needs to stop. Immediately. Before some suffers serious physical harm.
How this resort received 2,000 excellent reviews, on Love Holidays, and just a few hundred less than good is beyond me. (Baksheesh, baksheesh?) I very much doubt Love Holidays will publish this review on their website. Which is why I repeat it on Trip Advisor.
- ahmedmU7396PD (10/5): Good hotel - Came here as a late birthday trip with my friends and have to say the staff have been very hospitable and the resort boasts lots of key features such as a private beach area leading out into the water, bottomless drinks and music pumping all day and night, would definitely come again.

- O429JNdonnac (2/5): Terrible, don't stay here - Well what can I say.....food was awful, dishes was a guess what it is, brown bread not available, had to ask for bananas to which some of the Waiters said didn't have any, tables dirty and linen.
Towels had seen better days, lack of loo rolls and our shower floor didn't empty so left a puddle as you stepped in which was dangerous
Could only get WiFi in lobby so paid extra £20pp to be able to use around complex
Alcohol was like paint stripper so couldn't drink alcohol all week or cocktails and drinks were served in small kid side plastic flimsy cups
Air conditioning worked when it felt like it
Sun beds broken
Themed nights (BBQ) was extra money (we didn't oblige)
Huge gap in our door ,could see daylight through it, patio door didn't lock
Only 1 Plug to use in room
1 bottle of water given daily but left on the side so was warm, could have put in fridge
Tea and coffee not replenished all week
Evening entertainment not for the English
Food stations not clearly labelled
My friend I veggie, pans at pasta station dirty and didn't use separate ones for veggie guests, got rude when asked to clean it
No ice cream available
Jelly could be used as a building block
TV worked when it felt like it and quality off picture was awful
Cut off our wristbands at 12 noon check out, our transfer wasn't till 530pm and was given a lunch voucher for food only
Nowhere to freshen up for journey home, had to use disabled toilet
Needless to say, this was not worth the money we paid and was definitely not 4*
Couldn't wait to go home
One of the shop workers said guests are always complaining about the hotel but the owner is only interested in getting the money and not improving the complex

- desteneyv2025 (8/5): Becareful of him, i’m not a lieer so he want to do everything that someone believe him and not me! - Hello, I would like to thank everyone and the management of the Royal Star Hotel. It is a very wonderful hotel. This is my first time to come to Egypt with my family and I really enjoyed my time here a lot. The food is good, the view of the beach is good, the sea is very wonderful and everything is wonderful. The room is very wonderful and there is cleaning every day in the room and everything is wonderful. There is different food every day. I like this a lot. I love playing and I love sports and I love to dance and I love the animation team completely and I love the sports that I do and the strongest gym with the sports animation is Zika. He is a nice person and I thank the entire animation team, but there is a person from the animation team who is not good. When we met the first time, I was talking to him normally and then when I was talking to him, I thought that I was a prostitute. He came and talked to me in a bad way and asked me to go out of the hotel to go to the club. He told me that he wants to have a relationship with me and he told me that he does not think about anyone, he only thinks about him and talks in a bad way. He said that he does not talk about sex and about sexual relations and the body. And everything but this I didn't like much this person his name is Omar he is a young man with long curly hair we want someone who asked me several times to have a relationship with him and I don't want that I was prevented from this thing because I don't want to cause anyone a problem everything is good in the hotel and everything is good in the animation team but I have a problem with this person he is not good so I hope that you as managers will listen or the administration will deal with this issue in a general way because this is not good for a person like that who works in a respectable hotel and talks to girls in this ugly language and I don't like the matter as well everything is fine I spent my vacation well but this person his name is Omar is not good he also talk about that i lie and its not true but i gonne do everything that this is over and not happend again, because i’m so angry about that this boy. Thank you and thank you for your good listening and this is the only problem that I found in the hotel I want all the people who go to the Royal Star Hotel to be careful of this person he is not a good person he talks about sex and talks about relationships and does not talk about work and does not talk about who he is and this character is not good so please be careful of that and I hope that the hotel administration will take care of this matter and thank you for your good I am listening to you
