• Kunwoo (9/5): - Very nice looking place and very well managed. It was like a cultural experience that Ive never got. The rooms were very clean and service from the staff was great. Everything was more than adequate. Maybe the noise from upstairs time to time but this is inevitable I guess being an old building. Also I guess its part of the experience and didnt bother me too much.

Sehr schöne Details unterstreichen den ursprünglichen Charakter, der jederzeit spürbar ist. Es ist ein wenig hellhörig. Das liegt jedoch an der Art und Weise, wie dieses Gebäude eingeteilt ist und an den Original-Materialien. Man wird von Anfang an darauf hingewiesen, dass es hellhörig ist, also weiss man, worauf man sich einlässt. Es gibt einen Hinweis, dass ab 22h Ruhe sein soll, wenn alle sich daran halten, ist es absolut kein Problem.

• Jennifer (9/5): A really special place - I stayed in Amistar 1 I think and it was a beautiful room. The hotel is really special - an old Chinese house in the middle of Georgetown. I found it wonderful. The interior courtyards were lovely places to sit, the thoughtful snacks in the room were great, the breakfast was so lovely - different every day and really special. The staff helped us with restaurants. I thought it was great. Thank you so much.

• John (8/5): Old Charming Historical Mansion - Location fairly good. In Little India and a few blocks from Chinatown. Walking distance to Armenian Street. Old world charm. Different breakfasts on different days: one day dim sum, 2nd day continental, 3rd day Indian, 4th day French style toast but using Chinese Mi Gui (Turtle Bread). Could do some repair which really cost minimum. Like the arm of a chair in the dining room came off and stuff knew about it. All it took was some furniture glue to fix. Some historical photos in the main reception area but the descriptions were way too small and too high up to read. What a pity. A huge step from the sleeping quarter into the bathroom. The landing was too narrow so it was scary to step into the bathroom in the middle of the night. See photo.

The building and the decor were a great example of Dutch/ Chinese architecture. A beautiful building.. The staff were very helpful and efficient. A strange smell in the room. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room.
• Timisoara89 (10/5): Beautiful place - The mansion / guest house has a lot of character as it's a historical building. It's very pretty and nicely decorated, and has many plants. To give an idea, the layout is somewhat similar to riads in Morocco, where the rooms are facing an internal yard. Both the room and the bathroom were spacious and quite tall. The bed was wide enough for two people. Staff was pleasant. There were a few things I didn't like, but I decided it's fair to maintain the overall "10 score" of my review. The mattress was too firm for my liking, also, the bed's width is about 1.80m, so if you're taller your foot will touch the wooden frame (this can be covered nicely). Other than this, it is important to mention that if you're on the ground floor you might have another room on top of you, and when the other guests walk around their room you'll hear that (wooden ceiling). This is particularly unpleasant in cases where they wake up earlier than you, or go to sleep later than you. I had a family above and they made a lot of noise. So, since it's a historical building it's not at all soundproof, so you'll hear other guests walking around or talking - and they'll hear you so be careful with the kind of noises you make ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡° )

En tot slot het vriendelijke personeel, die tips hadden een voor een heerlijk, gevarieerd, ontbijt zorgen Niks; wij hadden geen last van geluidsoverlast in Nutmeg B (zoals door anderen aangegeven), maar het was ook vrij rustig. Het is en blijft een oud (en heel mooi) pand, dus je hoort altijd wel wat.

• Alina (9/5): A relaxing stay in a beautiful heritage inn - The inn has a unique atmosphere: it‘s like a culture & history museum and an oasis of greenery in one spot. It was relaxing to spend time in its courtyard garden, browsing Penang‘s history books and drinking local tea. The staff are very attentive and friendly. Leaving small sweet things on our bed wishing us “sweet dreams“ was an unexpected cute touch. Water bottles were constantly refilled. A lack of natural day light inside the rooms due to the structure of heritage cottages here. The breakfast was a little underwhelming 🫤.

The building is charming and the staff are very helpful. - Very friendly staff, beautifully historic building, located in the heart of Historic Georgetown. A great place if you want to easily pop out and explore restaurants and markets and return to an oasis. The room ended up being a little too small for our family but the staff was quick to help us find a solution.
• Sandra (10/5): Un lieu magique, une demeure historique, en plein centre mais au calme. - Tout d'abord le lieu. L'endroit est magnifique. Le personnel est fantastique. Dès notre arrivée nous avons été accueilli parfaitement et lorsque nous sommes partis ce fut la même chose. La chambre est préparée pour le soir avec une petite douceur et un message, une délicate attention. Malgré la position centrale, l'endroit est calme. Parmi tous les lieux que nous avons visité en Malaisie, c'est le plus bel endroit avec un personnel qui a dépassé nos attentes. Même si on peut toujours faire mieux, j'ai quand même mis 10 pour cet établissement, il vaut vraiment la peine d'être découvert. Quelques petits détails mineurs, au vu du caractère exceptionnel du lieu Pression de la douche un peu faible C'était écrit mais je n'ai pas regardé : certaines chambres n'ont pas de fenêtre, bien vérifier avant de réserver. Franchement, il n'y a pas grand chose ...

• Judith (9/5): Würde ich noch einmal buchen. - Das Hotel ist sehr schön und gemütlich eingerichtet. Super nettes und bemühtes Personal. Die Zimmer sind schön und gepflegt, Betten bequem und es gab ein gutes Frühstück (jeden Tag was anderes). Die Lage ist sehr zentral und man geht von der Fähre auch nur 10 Minuten hin. Wir hatten Cinnamon 1&2 und in den beiden unteren Zimmern gibt es keine Klimaanlage sondern nur einen Deckenventilator. Die Klimaanlage vom 1. Stock kühlt über die Wendeltreppe bisschen herunter aber nur wenn man im 1. Stock stark herunterkühlt. Außerdem muss man über die Wendeltreppe durch das Schlafzimmer im 1. Stock gehen um ins Bad zu gelangen, wenn man im unteren Zimmer schläft.

Un ambiente muy tranquilo y acogedor. Quizás que nuestra habitación no tuviera ventanas al exterior, daban a una sala junto a uno de los patios interiores y hacian la habitación algo oscura...

• Anne-Marie (9/5): Un Havre de paix et de verdure dans un quartier trépidant - bonne localisation et très bon accueil - Magnifique hôtel, dans une maison traditionnelle avec plusieurs cours intérieures magnifiquement décorées (beaucoup de plantes) , un Havre de paix dans un quartier pourtant trépidant (Little India - très bonne situation)- personnel très accueillant et qui nous renseigne bien sur les sites à voir, les restaurants, etc... . Nous recommandons ! rien, c'était super !

• Hadewych (9/5): Excellent beautiful stay in the heart of Little India. - Loved the location—close to Beach Street and Little India, with lots of restaurants within walking distance. The room was a bit small for a family of four, with two double beds and no seating area; however, there are sofas outside. Despite its very central location, the rooms are quiet, although the Clove rooms are quieter than the Anistar rooms. I really loved the friendliness of the staff. It’s worth listening to their advice on where to eat, especially since some restaurants have changed owners. We also loved the little local desserts that were brought to our room every night. Even though there are lots of plants around the mansion, there were no mosquitoes (and I get bitten very easily!). The check-in was very fast as well. I would definitely return next time we visit George Town. The Anistar room was a bit small when staying with teenagers. There were lots of fireworks at random times during Deepavali week, and many shops and restaurants in Little India were closed; however, this is to be expected during that time of year.

Less than 10 minute walk from the ferry. - The thought and imagination put into making the property very welcoming and comfortable as well as being a very calm place to stay in. The staff are very welcoming, professional, friendly and extremely helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Liked the hotel’s eco credentials and the products used in their bathrooms. Nothing
• Yeong Soon (8/5): Offered as pre war Chinese Merchant mansion. Good conservation. - Room is spacious, but the bathroom wares are a bit run down. Great location, and bed offered are excellent. Pre war Chinese mansion with some alteration. Great experience and satisfying. Bathroom is clean, however bathtub is old.
• Schmarx (10/5): Ein Geschenk der Geschichte. Herrliches Haus! - Stilvolles renoviertes Chinesisches Shophouse im indischen Viertel. Das Haus ist ein Geschenk der Geschichte und es ist ein Traum hier zu wohnen. Sobald man den Eingang passiert, bleibt der Trubel der Stadt hinter einem. Herrlich, die Ruhe die im Haus herrscht. Die Zimmer sind einfach aber wertig eingerichtet, wir haben uns sehr wohl hier gefühlt. Wir kennen einige Unterkünfte in der Stadt, dieses Haus hat uns bisher am besten gefallen!
• Samina (10/5): Stunning boutique hotel - Can't recommend this highly enough. This place has so much character and is so beautifully decorated, you really feel like you're staying in a historic house. The staff are lovely and so helpful. The location is great and easy to get around either walking or a short drive away. Breakfast was good with continental one day and dim sum another. We stayed in Clove 1 and 2 which are interconnecting rooms, very spacious and spotless. Nothing to improve here, we were just sad to leave
