• Julia (9/5): - Rustic, colonial style accommodation, spacious rooms, full of antiques and art work. Very friendly staff, great with children. Small outdoor pool in the sun. Warthogs around the gardens. Great safaris and driver. Don't expect super luxury or fabulously appointed modern bathrooms, but everything works and is comfortable. Large suites for families. The staff offered to cook the kids what they wanted for dinner (main course) but they were given the same starter and lunch as the adults, which doesn't work for fussy kids. No pancakes on menu for breakfast but staff were very obliging when we asked for this.

• Saskia (10/5): Fantastisch! - De ligging is fantastisch, direct aan het Amakhala Park. De huisjes zijn echt Afrikaans, schoon en sfeervol. De bediening is super! Er lopen zebra’s en warthogs in de tuin, zo leuk!

Toller Pool und eine süße Warthog-Familie im Garten. 🐗 Die Lage im Amahkala Reserve ist perfekt: Die Pirschfahrten mit Oburt waren toll und wir haben viele Tiere gesehen! Personal war nett & bemüht, aber nicht so herzlich, wie wir es in allen anderen Unterkünften erlebt haben.

Sitting under the trees for meals was lovely! The game drives and game ranger, Liam were exceptional - thank you! Home style food was mostly good, but buffet or family style service would be better so there wouldn’t be so much waste.
• Christine (8/5): - Die Lage und die Aussicht in die Umgebung ist top. Die Möglichkeit Tiere zu sehen ist toll. Will man nicht täglich 2 Safaris machen ist es eine gute Preis-Leistung. Die Gebäude sind etwas alt und dürften renoviert werden. Die Umgebung sollte aufgeräumter sein. Schade liegt so viel Abfall rum respektive wird er im Boden versenkt.

• Margreet (10/5): We hebben van elke seconde genoten: het oude huis is prachtig, de service, all in verzorging en mensen zijn fantastisch - Makkelijk aan te rijden en van alle gemakken voorzien. Netjes, schoon, veilig, super service. Gamedrives in Amakhala echt geweldig. Big 5 gezien en hoe en nog zoveel meer. Niet massaal, maar met kennis en kunde en alle geduld en rekening houdend met je wensen. Familiekamer was heel fijn met zithoek en aparte slaapkamer met twee bedden voor de kinderen. Er was niets dat niet is bevallen, het was 37 graden en het zwembad was ook heerlijk voor tussen relaxen, de gamedrives en de maaltijden door.

• Helena (10/5): Traumhafte Lodge mit erlebnisreichen Pirschfahrten. - Alles. Diese historischen Gebäude versprühen einen traumhaften Charme. Alle Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und vor allem das vegetarische Essen war sehr gut. Aber am Besten waren natürlich die Pirschfahrten. Einfach nur grandios. Einmaliges Erlebnis.

The game drives were very informative and worthwhile. When walking around the grounds bird watching found there was a bit of litter and junk lying around.

Haben auf der Pirschfahrt viele Tiere, inkl. Löwen, Geparden, Nashörner und Elefanten gesehen. Die nahe gelegene N2 war nicht zu überhören.

• Rainer (7/5): - Lage im Game Resort Sehr gutes Frühstück, gutes Abendessen Gute Morgen- und Nachmittag-Safari Die ganze Anlage ist in die Jahre gekommen und müsste grundsätzlich renoviert werden. Viel Defizit bezüglich Umweltschutz, beispielsweise wird Altglas ca 100-200 m von der Anlage entfernt in einer ausgehobenen Grube gesammelt und danach offensichtlich mit der Aushubserde zugeschüttet.

Lovely setting with access to pool, gardens , lounge and verandas. The staff are so welcoming and could not fault the hospitality- special thanks to Nomonday and Somsom for making my stay to awesome and to the chefs who created the most delicious food and made me gluten free scones and bread. • Antia (8/5): Amazing safari - The property was originally a farm from 1908. The house is amazing! It is like going back to that year. There is so much history in it : paintings, photos, furniture. Also, the food was really good! And you can cool down at the pool. We went to two drivers and they were fantastic! We saw a lot of animals including lioness and cheetah.

Die Zimmer sind einfach aber erfüllen ihren Zweck. Das Frühstück und Abendessen war sehr lecker. Der Game Drive den wir morgens hatten war super organisiert und wir haben in drei Stunden direkt 4 von den 5 „big five“ gesehen.

Comfy bed, clean linen to wake up to a majestic sunrise ( hmm watching from the stoep!) And yes sunset breathtaking -again from the stoep . We earn the badge stoepsitters!!! The staff is super friendly and our cleaning lady was the best , she was ever ready ,every where without we seeing her.Food- simply delicious . The game drive with Liam was chilling exciting with 2 lions an 3 cheetahs-woh! The highway that break into the orchestra of nature.

Good bathroom with excellent shower and bath. Nice pool area. Quaint bar for pre-dinner drinks and excellent meals with friendly staff in a traditional setting. Good breakfast options. We booked our game drives separately and these were very enjoyable and included a good lunch. Interesting to meet other guests at breakfast and dinner to learn from their experiences and knowledge of the area. Handover from initial check in to room allocation seemed a little unstructured. Lodges are very close to each other so not particularly private. Rooms were very dark.

The rangers were very knowledgeable, and communicated expertly with one another to ensure you had the best chance of sightings. The reserve has grown significantly since my last visit 14years ago and remains as beautiful as I remembered. The rooms were super comfy, with huge beds and modernised bathrooms. The pool area was lovely, overlooking the reserve with frequent wildlife visitors, making for a great refreshing dip between game drives. The food was delicious! We couldn’t fault it and can’t wait to come back. How short our stay was!!!!

• Anne (10/5): A suberb stay to all regards - Game cruises, staff, food, rooms. Exceeded our expectations! - We stayed three nights at the country house and loved every minute of it. The house itself with its friendly staff, cozy rooms and 3-course-dinner was already unique. The stay included two Game drives per day and each was an adventure of its own! Thanks to our rangers Marlie and Hain we not only got to see many animals - we learned about their behavior such as the plants, history and culture of Amakhla. Huge recommendation!

The food was very tasty and well presented. The game drives informative and varied. The ranger Ouboet was very knowledgable. Little to fault at this lodge. Possibly need to keep up the maintenance.
