• Marino (6/5): Bakpak Hostel Tokyo - the stay was fine, private shower and toilet, TV, fridge, not bad for a budget hostel, the only serious fault was the four o`clock check in, far too late in the afternoon, and no one in attendance, so that a client could at least leave, his or her baggage some where until check in time.

• やどかり (2/5): - 二度と使いたくない。 チェックイン時、事前に電話連絡した時間に行くもフロントに人が居らず長時間待たされる。 部屋が汚すぎる、湿気とカビの臭いが充満していて酷すぎたので2泊の予定だったが一晩でチェックアウトした。チェックアウトしようにもフロントは外出中でまた待たされる。 チェックイン/アウトを対応したのが経営者の様だったが正直に言って宿泊業に携わってはいけない人間だと感じた。衛生観念もおかしい。

Recommend people spend few extra dollars & find another place. Very dated & dirty - mats on floor are very thin & worn out.

Il est également très sociable et gentil. Cet établissement se trouve proche du métro Minowa et de plusieurs superette 24/24. Nous n'avons rien de négatif à en dire.

• Verified traveler (8/5): I like the roof top. :) - It has a traditional homey feels. I like the view and atmosphere from the roof top. You can cook your own food in the kitchen. Friendly and helpful staff. The only thing I didn't like is the cleanliness. The establishment is a bit old. But all in all it was good for the price.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Nice stay overall - bAkpAk hostel was very affordable, the owner was very nice and helpful. It's quite a bit older compared to a lot of hostels in Tokyo, and could use some renovations, but no notable problems. The massage chairs in the lounge were a nice touch, big collection of movies are nice for rainy days, and I really liked the hot and cold tea and coffee in the kitchen. The wi-fi was sort of in and out, but worked well enough. I also liked the lounge area outside, quite cozy. Overall I had a nice stay.
• Rachel (6/5): Decent hostel - I had an average stay at Bakpak Tokyo Hostel. My husband and I stayed there for four nights during our visit to Tokyo in mid-September. We stayed in the double room with a private bathroom. In the pictures of the double room on Hotels.com, there is one picture of a room with a regular bed and then a picture with two Japanese futons. We were put in the room with the Japanese futons. My "mattress" was thin and I had difficultly sleeping. I eventually changed with my husband and his was newer and more plush. The bathroom is described as "partially open" on hotels.com and I was uncertain what that meant. Our double room did have a private bathroom, but the toilet was separated from the shower (both were found in our private room, though). When we finally figured out how to work the A/C, it worked well enough. However, the room managed to stay quite humid, despite blasting the A/C. The room also seemed quite dusty. The surrounding area is almost entirely residential. I believe we only walked passed two restaurants on the 12 minute walk to Iriya metro station. We also walked a bit further to Uguisudani station (about 20 minute walk from Bakpak) to take the JR line to different areas of Tokyo more directly. Sensoji Temple is also about a 15 minute walk from Bakpak, and definitely worth seeing. The area by the temple has restaurants and great souvenir shopping. This is a hostel, and it's not the newest or the cleanest, but for what we paid, it was worth it to travel Tokyo.
• GIHONG (10/5): - 아사쿠사랑 가깝고 자전거를 빌리면 편안하게 아사쿠사를 돌아볼 수 있는게 최고의 장점입니다. 식사도 주변식당이 매우 저렴해서 간단하게 해결이 가능합니다. 와이파이도 무료로 쓸 수 있는데다가 호텔 편의시설을 마음대로 이용할 수 있습니다. 다만 방에서 일본 특유의 냄세가 납니다. 일본 특유의 냄세를 싫어 하시는 분은 그것 하나만 주의하시면 됩니다. 특히 옥상의 흔들의자 가 참 매력적입니다. 도심가운대에서 잠시 느긋한 느낌으로 앉아있는게 참 명품이었습니다. 한번 이용해보세요.
• nxmecha (6/5): Recommend for backpackers only - It's a room for sleep but quite comfortable. Staff are very friendly. They don't have breakfast. The hostel is quite far from Minowa station. It's suitable for backpackers.

Der lugtede på fællesarealerne.

• Natti (6/5): Great if you are a traveling student - It's a great place for price no doubt, hands down. Plenty of resources available to help your tour of Asaksa. Only thing is it's like college. I am not at that age so I just laugh at every sign that said, "clean up after yourself" "no noise after---" "Etc" But that's the way it is. People were nice, and while I was there it was quiet. The location was hard because there is no line that gets you there. It's a long walk from the station. I had a duffle and man I was struggling by the time I got there. It's set off a avenue that had a bikeways. One last thing I had a hard time finding a friendly place to eat. I found a spot but after getting waved out of the soba house that the hostel recommends! They were still serving people. :/

• Jeffrey (10/5): Great Stay! - Had a very good stay here at bakpak hostel! The caretaker is very very nice. Location is good and value for money. Will stay here again in the future!
• Alia (10/5): Traditional style - Awesome place for backpackers - Fell in love with the room with its traditional Japanese styled look. The staff were very friendly and there is a lounge on the 2nd floor to make food and hang out in, as well as a nice patio out front. They handed us a hand-drawn map of the area upon check in to highlight local restaurants, stores, laundry, and attractions which was very useful. Unfortunately it is CASH ONLY. There is an ATM around the corner from the hostel at the Post Office if extra cash is ever needed.
• Russell (8/5): Was worth what I paid - I spent several days in Tokyo at the bakpak hostel. It was a comfortable stay with fairly average amenities. It was clean and bug free which are my most important requirements. They offer special options such as a sumo tour. I had signed up for that, but unfortunately someone made a mistake and it was canceled. A special note is that the showers do have tubs if you want to soak and there is no one waiting.
• Deb (8/5): It's all about the people - The hostel is a little confusing to get to from the stations. Even after being there a couple of days and being seasoned travellers in Japan we still had to think really hard about which way to go (it depends on the exit you use and the exits are not named). We were given a map which showed local attractions etc but it didn't help much near the stations and was in English which helped up but not people we stopped to ask. The onlg other comment was that the doonas were a little grubby - sheets, rooms and everything else were great but the doonas/covers could have done with some sprucing up. I think the fact that sheets etc were so good made the doonas look worse than they actually were. The people at the hostel were fabulous! They offer fish market and sumo training tours at a reasonable price and were flexible enough to accommodate my travel buddy's physical inability to ride a pushbike. The tours were absolutely brilliant and I can't recommend them highly enough. Daisuke (our tour guide - usually called "Dice") was fantastic. His explanations and patience really made our stay enjoyable.

• Renae (8/5): Value for money - Very spacious private room. Decorating a little old but not a concern for me when travelling. Great stay over all. Staff was friendly and highly recommend doing tours offered. Great tour guide and he spoke great English. Bike hire very reasonable at ¥500/day and really enjoyable way to get to know the city. Better direction is needed to the laundry as we could not find it after hours and had to wait til morning. Laundry was located outside down the side of hostel but did the job. Value for money

• Ja (2/5): Terrible - Checked out early due to disappointment over the beds, looked dirty and there was one thin bed sheet. From memory, it was 5-7 blocks away from the train station. Will never go back.
• Soph (10/5): A home away from home - This hostel is great. It may not be as modern as some, but its kept in good condition and has everything you need. The staff here are really lovely and because of this, it is my favourite hostel I have ever stayed at. If you want to feel at home, meet some great people and have a relaxing drink out the front till the early hours of the morning then this is the place for you. Lovely people x
• Jeff (10/5): had a very good stay! will stay here again! - The reception is very friendly and helpful. We booked a quad room, and it was comfortable, and clean. 10 mins walk from Minowa station. Convenient because there are 24 hours supermarket and restaurants around the area.
