• Jenny (10/5): Fabulous - I had a wonderful stay at The York beachfront Holiday apartments. The location is right across the road from the beach which is lovely and quiet. I enjoyed the pool and local cafe walking distance, only a couple of minutes away. Ed and May are friendly and very accommodating. I'll be back next year. Netflix very slow and glitchy but not really an issue.
• Samy (10/5): - The best Host and Hostess I have ever met in all my years of travelling around Australia! Ed and May are the best! Worth staying there just knowing you will be well looked after. The gardens are so beautifully landscaped! There's 3 levels. So, maybe an issue of mobility if on top floor. But can climb slowly, I managed it.

We enjoyed having a nice big balcony and a pool, too. Managers Ed and May (Mai?) are very personable, helpful, and easy to talk with. We would go back, for sure.

Es ist sauber, ordentlich und prima dort mit genug Platz. Die Gastgeber sind sehr herzlich. Wir wollen auf dem Heimweg jetzt ein 2tes Mal dort wohnen. Alles super

• Mark (7/5): Apart from ‘our’ impression of the furniture it was fine. IE you get what you pay for. I’d suggest older guests may have - Clean, location and staff. Great Tourist Information and covered Parking. Units were nice but just a bit tired Furnishings. Bed had obviously been obtained from a fire sale at Bogga Rd Gaol and the lounge, honestly was terrible. Hard plastic covered cushions made for very uncomfortable relaxing while trying to watch the equally poor TV. It was about as slow as a wet week

• Linda (9/5): Quiet Beachfront stay - Lovely quiet beachfront apartment, clean well maintained, comfortable beds. Wonderful and helpful hosts Ed and May. Good size TV. Pool was very inviting. Balcony was very spacious with table/chairs and a sun lounger. Boat Club great for a meal and lovely outlook Would have loved a Seaview, but alas the trees are too tall now to see it. Only had to walk across the road though. It was great to have a bath but a little too short to relax in fully.

Ed allowed us to park in bay with power point so we could pre-cool our car fridge for onward journey. Lots of brochures for local attractions. kitchen and bathroom are overdue for updating. • Keith (8/5): - The unit was very quite and relaxed there is no sea view or partial sea views due to the trees across the road. The area cane be quite noisy on dusk and sunrise due to the flying fox families that live in the bush behind the units. But otherwise i loved the less traffic flow than other beaches. Very clean unit and very safe area Thank you Ed

Well used esplanade and very pleasant with restaurants at either end.Patrolled netted swimming area across the way with washrooms at base of Yorkey's Knob proper. Clean well maintained quiet retirement enclave, northern beach of Cairns. Staff were very obliging and friendly, with Aussie sense of humour. Loved the decor of my apartment. Simple and summery and clean. The divan was firm and comfortable. I was able to stay and check in early and rest there as soon as my apartment was ready. Parking was covered. Wonderful. Gardens were well kept and blooming. Birds were plentiful nesting and noisy.. Loved it. The air conditioning said the filter needed to be changed. I forgot to mention that to management. A bedside lamp had a loose charging connection for my electronics.Pretty finicky.

The apartment was cool, clean, well furnished and comfortable. - Location was perfect - close to beach, shops, marina, public transport if required, and some great walks close by. Apartment was self contained, modern, very clean and had a great balcony. Swimming pool and BBQ facilities available to all guests. Minimal bathroom supplies available - would suggest some shower gel, tissues, more loo paper etc. No kitchen cooking supplies available - would recommend a cupboard/shelf where guests could leave unused items such as salt, pepper, sauces etc - Everything had to be purchased from scratch.

Repairs after the floods earlier in the year, which obviously were essential, meant that there was a lot of drilling, electric saws and banging in the flat complex. The community garden mower and leaf-blower probably exceeded safety noise levels.

You were across from the beach, so that was lovely. Also, you got your own car parking spot which was really good. There were quite a few dead bugs and live little roaches around the place. Might need to be fumigated or something.

• Lianne (1/5): Terrible experience - N/A I didn't stay I am writing this review so that other travellers and the owners of this unit are aware of this. On arrival, I found the top sheet was mouldy, so I contacted the Propery Manager. He didn't believe me, but went and got me a fresh one. As we were walked.back up the stairs towards the unit, his wife/partner came out of their unit and hurled verbal.abuse at me saying she had changed it that morning and I was lying. She said she didn't like me already, in fact she hated me already. It was completely unprovoked and unnecessary. As a solo traveller I felt shaken and unsafe , so I called booking.com.they said I should leave and they would send a cancellation email to the property and request a refund. Unfortunately it appears the booking.com assistant didn't do this and I am now out of pocket by over AUD $400. I have phoned booking.com numerous times who deny the initial phonecall even though i have screenshot evidence. This was a very disturbing incident and poor followup from booking.com.
• Meng (8/5): Good, other than noise issue - Lovely beachy, no crowds, small village feel of the area. Noise from aeroplanes, whilst not constant can be loud sometimes. Building has poor noise insulation and we were unfortunate that the visitors upstairs were noisy (crying baby, footsteps, lots TV, things dropping on tiled floor). We managed, as we were out most of the time 🙂

• Dennis (10/5): - The property managers, Ed and May, are very welcoming and accommodating. The apartment was very clean and well equiped with everything you need. The location is perfect, but you do need transport, with shops nearby and the beach across the road. There were markets at the beach on the Saturday with local crafts so a nice touch. A relaxing place to stay so if you are looking for a rowdy weekend this is not for you and for good reason. Highly recommend as a place to stay.

(It wasn't his fault the staff at the restaurant were totally useless!!) The bed was a little small to quibble, and lugging the bags up the stairs was not ideal. That said, it was a great stay and Ed and his good lady were excellent hosts.
• Carol (8/5): Three days at Yorkeys - The York is perfectly located on the beachfront at Yorkeys Knob and east walking distance to supermarket and cafes. Yorkeys Knob is much quieter than Trinity Beach or Palm Cove so the choice of dine out options without a car is limited but this also means it is not busy. Our apartment was spacious, clean and comfortable however the decor was a little dated. The grounds including the large pool are very well maintained and the on-site managers were very helpful. I would stay here again.

• Hendo64 (9/5): Great Holiday Appartments - We needed a room for a couple of nights whilst transferring. The place was good and local. The top floor room was hard due to the stairs, but that's the way it is. If it was for a holiday, it'd be a big 10 from me. A little expensive.

• Lynne (10/5): York Holiday Apartments was an excellent destinations for myself and my family. - The apartments had everything our family needed for a home away from home. Plus a lovely balcony which we sat out on when dining overlooking the beautiful pool and gardens. Great location within easy drive to airport and the city of Cairns. Quiet, yet some local shops boasted a grocery store, chemist shop, wine/beer store and a delightful unpretentious and friendly Thai restaurant. I didn’t like the fact I had to walk upstairs but survived. I had an apartment on the 1st floor and my adult grandchildren were on the 2nd floor. We coped.
