Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (2/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- RJSchoen (8/5): - Its my 10th visit to Windsor. Still feels like home. Couldn't get my favorite room, but housekeeping transformed the alternative in a convenient working space.
- Rutger-Jan (8/5): - As always my home in Yangon. They are refurbishing some rooms, which is good. Nice room, friendly staff for a good price.
- Rutger-Jan (8/5): Nice hotel close to Shwedagon Pagoda - Hotel Windsor becomes my home in Myanmar. Its my 6th stay in 15 months and I have just booked my next stay later this month.
- Verified traveler (4/5): normal - old hostel and without any service
- Verified traveler (6/5): Value for money - WiFi is quite poor
Breakfast all the way same menu
Staffs are friendly
Good location
- Htun Htun (8/5): - Room inside is good. Common area would be a little bit messy.
- Rutger-Jan (8/5): Friendly hotel; 5 min walk from Dutch Embassy - My 4th two week stay this year. Staff as friendly as always. Loi Sam Sip in the front garden, the best Shan restuarant of Yangon is an extra reason to stay. The menu has further improved. Excellent Tofu Nway soup in the morning and good salade or set menu in the evening.
Internet has improved a bit, but 3G is very cheap and fast in Myanmar anyway. And the fascinating view on Shwedagon Pagoda from my room. Look forward to my next stay in November!
- rutger-Jan (8/5): thuis in Yangon - Dichtbij mijn werk, vriendelijke staf, schone ruime kamers.
- Maung (4/5): - Room wasn't clean and wifi was poor too.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Prisvärt - Bra och trevlig personal
- lwin (8/5): location - good location, for hospital, restaurents and supermarket
- Lwin (8/5): location - I chose this hotel for location. It is very close to Asia Taw Win Hospital where my mom was admitted. Hotel room are ok for its price. Staff is quite friendly and helpful too. Addition of new Shan restaurant in the front yard is a plus. Food is good there. But hotel breakfast is quite poor.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Far away from center of the town - You might need to take taxi to go anywhere, which disturb your comfortable trip.
- Jamz (6/5): Budget Hotel - I've stayed for 3 nights travelling around the Yangon. The location of hotel is in the middle of the street you can get to the Shwedagon Pagoda by walking around 5km or 20 mins.
The most popula resturant Min Lan Seafood is located only 400m by walking and the shopping central around 600m. from the hotel.
- marion (8/5): OK Place. - good condition, good location, no lift but helpful staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant Surprise - Hotel Windsor was a great value for the money. The staff was very helpful. The room was clean and spacious. We would definitely consider staying here again and it will become one of our first choices during our next visit to Yangon.
- Kemal (8/5): Quite satisfied with the hotel. - The room was big and comfortable, the staff was helpful whenever we needed anything. Even though the hotel was not in the downtown, the location was nice and a quite area. Downtown is 3000 kyat by taxi. There is a shopping mall with a big supermarket in walking distance but couldn't find much food that suits our taste nearby. The breakfast was more like a lunch, like rice, noodles, fried vegetables, eggs etc. Occasionally we had problems with internet speed. Apart of that it was a pleasant stay.
- Euikyun Carlo (8/5): - Good place
- Euikyun Carlo (8/5): Good hotel - Not bad for staying a couple of days.
- Shannon (8/5): Nice stay in Yangon - The staff were friendly, the room was very comfortable.
Who needs an exercise room when you have 5 flight of stairs to walk up and down every time you leave the hotel.
- T (6/5): Reasonable stay in Yangon - It's close to Shwedagon Pagoda. There's a supermarket and a shopping mall (Dagon Centre) in about 10-15 minutes walk.
The room I stayed was old but clean. There's a hole around the fan, which didn't work, in the bathroom. I was worried to have bugs from the hole but was OK. Not bad in Yangon for this price.
- Verified traveler (4/5): In poor state. - US$50 per night is expensive in Burma. Staff were still sitting down when we off loaded our bags from taxi. The front desk staff were friendly enough but they couldn't help much with our requests. The rooms were dusty, toilet/bathroom was not clean. The fittings were old and shower curtain was mouldy. The only positive I can say is, the location is very handy. This hotel is dark, old, run down and in desperate need of renovation.
- Yan (4/5): No Frills Stay - The good: cheap, in quiet location outside of downtown, big room, decent a/c. The not so good: no tourist info help, terrible wifi, hard to get taxi from downtown back to hotel, sterile dining room with passable breakfast. Around 30 min walk to Shwedagon along major road with no sidewalks and little light at night (looked closer on map). Most interesting part of my stay was being able to walk 10 min to the local Circle Line station to take the rickety commuter train to Yangon Station downtown.
- ranu (4/5): the price is reasonable - i go there with my friends. He stay at room no.411 his room have ploblem (Leaky faucet)Now i'm not sure they repair it or not
- Penny (6/5): Service with a Smile - My first visit to Myanmar. - The hotel staff were friendly and efficient and advised me about a message which had been left for me when I arrived at the hotel. The breakfast was lovely. The staff always told me how much a taxi would cost to different locations and negotiated that for me as I was traveling alone. The rooms were always very clean and I felt safe. I really appreciated that the hotel looked after my extra bags while I travelled within Myanmar. I liked the hotel and service so much that I will be returning for 2 nights accommodation on my return to Yangon.
- Wayne (8/5): Could use some work but good overall - 25 to 30 minute walk to Shwedagon Pagoda. Quiet area and relatively clean room. Pillows were way too big and firm, sheets a little worn. I would stay here again
- Renee (8/5): Goede prijs-prestatie, rusig, wel wat verlopen. - Redelijk rustige lokatie, een wonder in Yangon. Goede prijs prestatieverhouding.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Spacious and modern room on 4th floor. - The fourth floor seems like an additional level. It is new and rooms are spacious and comfy. The first three levels are older and gets less sunlight. Carpets need re- upholstery. Breakfast was varietal daily and that was great. I kept wishing there was a pool in the lawn area, that would have made this hotel perfect. There is a supermarket and some restaurants about a ten minute walk away from Hotel Windsor. From the main entrance of this hotel, turn left and keep walking on the left side of the road till you reach a traffic junction. City Mart's on your left. You can get all daily necessities from the supermart on the second level. A word of caution to stayers in this hotel. When walking towards City Mart, keep to the extreme left of the road as there isnt a pavement and I have noticed that drivers like to drive very close to the pedestrians walking along this road. Be real wary for traffic. Buses speed like mad too on this road, so walk with great caution, especially if you are with children. Apart from this, across the road from city mart, if you walk a little further to the left once you have crossed to the opp side of City Mart, there is Dagon Centre 1& 2, large malls surrounded by lively streets that sell local food if you're into that. Enjoy!
- carolyn (6/5): Minimally acceptable - The hotel is located on a dark street with little to recommend it. Rooms are clean, old, water is hot, towels are OK., staff are perfunctory and speak little English.
I would not stay there again, but my experience was also OK, I.e., not bad-- just not anything particularly great.
- won (10/5): most conveniant location. - during we stayed first 3 nights. we enjoyed in & out hotel..
city mart, and local bus stop is 5 min. away....
- Ken (6/5): Friendly accommodation in a converted villa - The hotel is a former villa that has been converted, and is one of several similar properties on the same road. This is no-frills accommodation but it is very reasonably priced, the rooms are large, and the staff are outstandingly friendly. The only real drawback is that like most places of this category in Yangon, only breakfast is served: there is no real lunch or dinner service. A meal can be arranged during the daytime, and served in the breakfast room, but the choice is limited. I found the best option if I didn't want to bother taking a taxi to a restaurant was to visit a nearby local-style restaurant that is less than five minutes' walk from the hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): I am enjoy with the fishing - Very enjoy
- R.G. Balija (10/5): Great place to stay- Close to all the sights - It was a pleasant place to stay. Included in the price - breakfast was great. The room was surprisingly expansive at well below the usual price. The management were courteous and polite. The facilities was great but we had to inform them on what was wrong. The A/C was a plus point especially in warm weather. We spent a total of 6 days including our visits to Bagan and Mandalay. We would recommend this hotel to everyone who want the best bang for their money.
- Robert (8/5): Expedia messed up - The room was not what we booked through Expedia -- and it was Expedia's mistake. The hotel made it right.
