Guest Reviews
- Fleece71 (6/5): Back to the 70s/80s…… but the staff are great - We only had a one night stop off here on the way to a meeting the following day. It is laid out as a motel
In the way of accommodation so parking is plentiful.
The on- site restaurant is staffed by lovely people with a “can do” attitude who will go the extra mile and the food is pretty good.
The downside are the rooms - dated and in need of an update. I was woken by a gurgling in the waste water pipes which would not stop all night.
All ok but the highlight are the staff and the ability to have a work out in the gym
- Gwenholidays (2/5): Worst Hotel in Costa Rica – Stay Away! - This hotel is an absolute disgrace. The staff have zero professionalism, zero education, and zero idea how to treat guests. We ordered a Coke Zero and two ice creams at the pool, gave our room number (as you would at any normal hotel), and assumed we’d settle at checkout. Instead, at 9pm two thugs straight out of a cartel movie came banging on our door while we were asleep, demanding immediate payment.
We paid — but the clowns managed to charge us in pesos instead of dollars. Their solution? Wake us up again by phone and send another mob to hammer on the door for $14. All this while the hotel already had our card details on record. Absolute madness.
The place itself is tacky, loud, and chaotic. Reception staff are rude beyond belief and don’t expect a single word of English. In three weeks traveling across Costa Rica — from high-end resorts to budget guesthouses — we’ve had nothing but wonderful experiences everywhere… except here.
This is hands down the worst hotel in Costa Rica. Stay away. We’ll never set foot in this dump again.
- Cristian (10/5): - Excelente relación calidad precio. Muy bien desayuno y José el Bartender de la piscina muy amable
- Gina (6/5): - Nice facilities overall. The restaurants, pools and gym were nice. The room could benefit from an update
- Roxana (10/5): - Creo que el restaurante puede ser mejor
- Stephen (10/5): - Very nice safe quiet good dinner, pool, great breakfast
- Robert (10/5): - Great reception, good food, large & confortable room. We were even greated by a large iguana on last morning. Keep up the good work.
- Randy (8/5): - The Sevices was quick and the staff was very friendly.
- Juan (10/5): - Excellent and convenient.
Could benefit of more variety offered for breakfast.
- Warren (8/5): - Fair value
- MARCO (8/5): - Excelente piscina.
- Anant (10/5): - Very good amenities
- Raul (10/5): - Hotel
Has improved over the years it is clean and comfortable easy parking and conveniently located.
- Ingrid (8/5): - Andrés made us feel very welcomed and was very attentive to our needs. Although the furniture in the room was a little worn down, we still enjoyed our stay. And it was very convenient to be able to park our rental car directly in front of where we were staying.
- Rigoberto (10/5): - Excelente
- Gustavo (8/5): - La propiedad está muy bien , al rededor es peligroso caminar afuera . Pero el personal es bueno
- Kenry (10/5): - All was great
- Grettel (10/5): - It was a very good experience in al senses.
- Ethan and Michelle (8/5): - The room was clean and breakfast was delicious. Unfortunately the pool was "under maintenace" and we had a toilet issue I had to ask them to fix more than once. Staff was friendly.
- Esteban (6/5): Mal Internet - Bien solo que el internet no funciono tuve que solocitar cambio de habitacion
- Landon (8/5): - Place was nice food was good. Beds were small and not real comfortable, Same with pillows. We booked for big pool and it was closed .
- Manuel (10/5): - Excelente
- Katja (6/5): - There was wifi but it did not work in the rooms. The advice given to me was to login outside then go into the room. It could not be maintained. For a place advertising as a sports and conférence center this was not convenient. I noticed that other guests were like I stuck outside on the balcony working on computers or on virtual calla. This was a big negative for me.
- Kit Shan (10/5): - The environment was comfortable. The swimming pool and the activity center were great.
- Sharon (10/5): - Fantastic pool to use
Restaurant very good too
- Victor (10/5): - Un hotel tranquilo y seguro
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Pool is great and so is the staff!
- Colin (10/5): - Good value
- Colin (8/5): - Probably the best hotel facility in town.
- steve (10/5): EXCELLENT STAY! - Hotel Suerre is a beautiful and comfortable hotel. The rooms and grounds are spotlessly clean and the included breakfast buffet was excellent. The photos on their website don't do the hotel justice. We were pleasantly surprised at how modern, quiet and clean the rooms were. The front desk and restaurant staff were all helpful and kind, as well.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place with one exception… The old beds. - Hotel is awesome. Pool, gym, sports center, game room, restaurants, bars, casino. Great place with one exception - the beds are very old and very uncomfortable. People are really nice, I love this place. If the replaced all of the old mattresses it would be a top hotel. I hope they do.
- NOLAN (8/5): - Buen hotel
- federico (10/5): - Muy cómodo, todo bien. Buena opción en ruta hacia el Caribe.
- Lewin (8/5): - We really enjoyed the playground and adult pool facilities. Unfortunately, there was lots of iguana poo on the playground which we asked to be removed. The kids pool was pretty dirty as well. Some staff was really nice! The breakfast we did not like as of choice and taste but I guess that very subjective. The gym access was a plus for me but overall there was lots of noise from gym and it’s classes.
- Brian (10/5): - Nice clean property
- Maria (10/5): - Muy tranquilo y excelente servicio al cliente
- NOLAN (10/5): - Very good for stopping when traveling
- JOSE (6/5): - .
- marie-laure (8/5): - Bonne alternative pour visiter Tortuguero une journée
- DayTrip21715969539 (4/5): Only one best hotel in the areas - It must be best hotel and country club for the locals . No matter how much you clean it is an old hotel. they say they recently remodeled and renovated, but still kept very old, rustic refrigerator with stains and all furniture’s and shower and tub so really outdated they need a deep cleaning. One thing that was a plus was customer service restaurant staff and hotel front desk was very helpful but inside the hotel and the lobby furniture‘s were very outdated and need to be updated. Nothing like the picture. if you were here for one day after your long trail trip to national Park overnight will do but not for long vacation stay, restaurant and two bar section has a same type of food and for the leisure pool area was there, but it did not have well-maintained. They had lots debris in a swimming pool and the rust and built up in kids area and then showers. this is not country club Vive.
- keona212 (2/5): Poor communication skills - My wife my son and I are completely disappointed with the lack of information given at the hotel, I was incorrectly informed of the gym times l made me miss my work out , the manager lacked empathy and the staff are no existent! I WOULD NEVER COME BACK HERE. THIS IS NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL
- Luis (10/5): - Exc.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Access to Tortuguero via Pavona - Central location to visit Tortuguero via Pavona (1 hr drive ea way). Pleasantly surprised with spacious, clean, comfortable rooms, well taken care of grounds, access to olympic size pool/exercise studio, etc. Highly recommend for families! Hot, robust CR breakfast to add
- Joe (2/5): - This hotel is set on taking advantage of their customers. They try to charge me three times for the same girl twice real speedy once when I checked in and then double the price the day I was leaving hotel is nice but the management is horrible. All they want us to swipe your credit card they don't care where winter how just give us the plastic.
- Carl (10/5): - Good hotel, the best in the area
- Guillermo valenciano (8/5): - Ff
- Sara (6/5): a little run down and busy with outsiders - the hotel is basically a sports center for the town. people come in to use the gym and the pool.
the room was old and had issues with the hot water.
the hot tub was not really hot either.
overall not a place where I would want to spend multiple days.
- AvdV80 (8/5): Nice hotel! - Nice hotel situated in the Guapiles area in Costa Rica.
The hotel is located in a restricted access area. All together it is a large terrain which consists of the hotel, pool area and gym. The green areas are well maintained.
Service at the reception is good and friendly.
Rooms are decent; basic and good enough for leisure travellers which is the main target group. There is a small desk in the room and a good bathroom. The room has AC which functions well. Only downside was the quality of the WIFI if you are in a room at more distance of the reception area. Minor point but nowadays more important then ever.
The bar / restaurant area is ample and divided into 2 specific areas. Both are well maintained and staff is attentive. Drinks and starters were great. The main coarse was so-so.
All together a solid stay if you are in the Guapiles area.
- DENIA (6/5): - The receptionist was a little rude, she disrespected me by calling me only by my name, even though she is like my daughter. The price included breakfast, but nobody gave us the tickets for the breakfast and at the restaurant they didn’t want to let us have the food. I came with other friends, and they got bar courtesies, but I didn’t. The bathtub was a little dirty, there were no coffee cups to drink coffee. We were 3 perdona, but there were only 2 towels
- Guillermo valenciano (10/5): - Todo bien
- Julisa (2/5): Disappointed rundown - When I checked in floor was not clean, I had to call the front desk to ask them to send someone to clean the floors, the pictures above is how the room looks when I asked them to clean my room. I checked out a day earlier because I was not able to sleep at all mattress we not good.
- djcynic (10/5): Convenient stay with all the amenities - We stayed just one night on our way to Tortuguero. The rooms appeared to have had a recent refresh, were clean, had ac, fridge, hot water, bathtub and shower along with many toiletries and even a hair dryer available for use. The lobby was welcoming and provided coffee and water. I appreciated the helpful staff at the front desk who assisted us with a taxi driver to Cariari which worked much better for us than the bus the next day. The grounds gardens are very well kept, they have security watching the cars and a massive pool/recreation center on site. ( it is the areas country club in addition to a hotel and even has a small casino, which I did not visit.)
We enjoyed meals in the restaurant which was decorated festively for the holidays and served typical costa Rican foods, along with American favorites, the menu had Spanish and English descriptions. The free breakfast buffet was served by very professional staff. I would stay here again on my way down to excursions along the Carribean Coastal areas of Costa Rica, we had a very pleasant stay.
- Norma Salguero (10/5): - Muy bien
- Cyndi (10/5): - Amazing property with all the amenities and a delicious included breakfast. My only wish was I had a full day to enjoy it, as we stopped here quick stay as a launch pad out to Torteguero. We Would stay again!
- Norma (10/5): Great stay - Very Good place to stay lots a things to do at the hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff was really nice, helped with everything needed.
I would stay again.
- Nallely (10/5): - love the green surrounding area
- Janick2010 (6/5): Tries, but lacking the basic elements - This is a huge property with a myriad of activities. While we were there, a soccer tournament was going on providing some good entertainment for an afternoon. There is a large competitive style pool, tennis courts, basketball... it basically serves as the sport's complex for the area.
One thing to note, pay attention to how you enter, we used Gmaps coming from the Caribbean, and it took us to the back entrance, which is how we discovered the sport's complex. Entry from the front will put you in the landscaped hotel, a preferred welcome.
Reception is efficient and friendly. Rooms are dated. Our tub was stained and somewhat daunting the way it seemed to flex under our weight. The water was luke warm at best, definitely not hot. Smelled kind of foul in the bathroom and a musty in the bedrooms. The small fridge was a nice idea, but it had been unplugged and emanated it's own unpleasant odor. The internet was frequently out, posing a few challenges. It was available in the lobby, but not what I wanted to do to login.
The casino is a dive. a dark room with reject electronic machines, an armed guard, and a bored attendant who was not issued a smile.
Breakfast is a buffet, bland, institutional hot side. Piles of fruit on the "fresh" side. meh.
- Jose (10/5): - Exelent experiance. Will be back in future
- Ronald (10/5): - Had difficulty adjusting aircondioner
- micah (10/5): - The amenities were great
- James (10/5): Nice staff …but! - Nice staff but hotel rooms are greatly outdated.
- Roberto (10/5): Great attitude of staff. - Nice experience, lot of nature, good meal, and overall great attitude of staff.
- James (10/5): Nice hotel and amenities - Nice hotel staff was good but front desk personal has very little English which made things a bit hard to communicate but all else good
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We liked the place the people were very friendly. The rooms were clean the pool was very nice. There was a restaurant on site and food was very good.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good for a quick stay or if you are not going to be in the room a lot. The fridge was broken and rusty in our room.
- Clive (6/5): Good Basic Hotel - Good basic hotel for the area.
- Mau0473 (10/5): Feeling at home - A nice place yo spend a great and casual evening with friends and family. Nice food and staff attention. The prices are ok for a middle range family.
Facilities are really nice and a great and secure parking lot
- Jefrey (6/5): Suerre Could Be Nice - But has Major Problems - Suerre is in a nice location but has issues. I've stayed more than 20 nights here as they are close to family - but I'm looking for an alternative. Everything is very old. The beds must be 20 years old and vert lumpy and uncomfortable.. The WifI is the slowest that I've experienced and at times unusable. Bring a wifi hotspot if you depend on the internet. The room keys need to be reprogrammed several times a day as they don't hold the programming if it gets close to a phone, credit card or computer. And this is in the Deluxe rooms. The pool, playground, bar are fun and in good shape - but beware that they sell country club memberships in the local communities to use the facilities and it is very crowed at nights and on the weekends. They also hold private parties which make the crowd worse. I will say the staff are great - housekeeping, reception, wait staff and bartenders, security - the people are awesome and this could be a nice place. But it has major problems.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Picked the place since it was halfway between the Caribbean coast where we spent a couple of days and San Jose, for our flight home. Facilities fine for outside - pool, restaurant. Rooms definitely underwhelming. Clean, but motel like in design and look. A little attention to interior design would go a long way to making it more attractive. And no place to sit in the room - an armchair would be a good addition.
- 496orlandor (4/5): Horrible smell good reception service - The rooms stink of some kind of chemical clearly used to trying to cover a worst drainage smell (we tested the of them). The furniture looks old and badly cared, the curtains are awfully cut and sewed. The place is extremely noisy, not adequate for resting. It states 4 stars which is definitely inaccurate, one star at most and just for the ladies at the reception desk that try to overcome the disadvantages.
- Mofly2019 (8/5): Business trip to Guapiles CR - Hotel with great gardens and an average restaurant.
Rooms are outdated but clean. Services is very good and the employees go far and beyond to help you in any issue.
Overall is the best hotel in the area if you go for business.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The rooms leave quite a bit to be desired, needs an update. Installations and location are ok.
- mikeo186 (10/5): Convenient modern hotel - Great large property. We stayed a night as it was where Mawamba Lodge picked us up for our trip to Tortuguero. We were able to leave our car here for free for two days in a secure guarded lot. Very nice rooms. Huge property. Large restaurant and bar. Huge Olympic pool. They have tennis courts under cover as well as soccer and basketball courts. A big gym as well. Reasonable rates.
- dymphw (4/5): Cleaning woman stole backpak - We spend one night in the hotel, a stop for Torteguero. Driving halfway to Torteguero, my daugther figuret out that her Eastpack with Nike shoes and wallet was missing. We Phoned to the hotel Because she left the backpack in the room. The hotel told us there was no backpack. For us it was clear that someone who cleaned the room stole the backpak. They did not wanted to discusse it and they did not let us see the security video. We had to go to the police for a official report
- Christina (8/5): Great place to relax... - The place and staff were amazing...only two issues we had were the firmness of the beds and not feeling real safe going out in the community...
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was pretty good, personal, rooms, pools, bar, snacks and the breakfast very delicious. The whole family really enjoyed our stay there. Thanks!
- Yemmy (4/5): - I was put on the ground floor which apparently is the main walk way, it was very noisy day and night. Also there were flies everywhere on the bread and uncovered food at the restaurant during breakfast. Lastly, the Manager of the hotel was not on duty and the guys at the front desk could not make any decision. Will really not recommend this hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This property is just North of the National Park where the mountains an rainforest viewing is amazing. I am told that this small city, Guapiles was built by the banana plantations and employees. It is beautiful and has an olympic size pool, kids toys, restaurants and casino. It's a good family resort, if you're in the area for park viewing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The country club is an excellent option for the guess and the restaurant has
- Verified traveler (10/5): - excellent place, the restaurant and pool were great
- Christian (8/5): Business focused hotel - Business focused hotel but was good for a stop over while traveling Costa Rica by car. Nice comfortable rooms, nice outdoor pool and bar with good cocktails and restaurant. Evening meal a little pricey but good and breakfast had wide selection of food.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A fine example of Costa Rican hospitality - I wanted to sample Cost Rican hotelier hospitality firsthand. By that, I mean I wanted to experience a non-European, Non-American hotel to try something a little different to what I have become accustomed to. Hotel Suerre did not disappoint.
As a result of the mobile app I used to navigate my way to the hotel, I somehow managed to drive in from the rear. The security guard who assisted me was very professional and directed me to the registration area.
Theresa, the young lady who checked me in, made me feel very welcome and created a great first impression.
My room was clean and spacious. The furniture was a little dated, and the room could have used some pictures on the walls to spruce it up a bit, but I was in no way disappointed with it.
I had drinks and dinner at the bar. Rafael (? Sorry if I forgot your name, sir. The drinks you made were too good!) was great to interact with as I waited for my friend to join me. He kept the gurapirinhas (yummy) coming, and provided a good overview of life in Guapalis, the town in which the hotel is situated. My friend eventually arrived, and we both enjoyed the delicious food there.
All employees with whom I interacted were polite and courteous. You could tell they were happy to work there. This alone was refreshing to experience.
I loved my stay. I will be back, and will definitely stay for longer next time.
- William (10/5): Wonderful experience - I travel to Costa Rica lots times and I always stay at the suerre I am very satisfied with the service
- 488jills (8/5): Best in the area - Arrived early evening with family of 3 after another hotel problem, en route to Puerto Viejo.. Very welcoming, great receiption staff. We stayed in priority area. Good dinner food served by pleasant, interesting waiter. Grounds are lovely with pool and full gym facilities. A local soccer game played in the covered field. The hotel also has a casino and is the area country club, it is also a business centre, has meeting rooms so a number of business travellers also there. However we had no noise problems. Excellent buffet or sit down breakfast. Recommend if going to Tortuguero, Earth University in Guacimo or to Caribbean coast;.we would return with pleasure.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great gym and pool, very clean room and premise. Good food and friendly staff.
- Gerald (10/5): Amazing swimming pool - Amazing swimming pool and country club.
Recently renovated, rooms and bath room partially renovated
- Pedro (8/5): Recomended - Excellent hotel
- katherine (10/5): Resort like - Great service, amenities and security. I highly suggest this place. Felt like a resort.
- David180678 (4/5): More like a motel - This is by far a 4 Star hotel. We stayed one night going to Tortuguero, and only chose it because of its standard and pool (for the kids). The entire pool and playground area was closed, and even after we got back from Tortuguero it was still closed. The rooms are super simple and there is a lot of noice. It felt more like a motel than a hotel of Four stars.
