They had à la carte and buffet options and the breakfast area was beautifully decorated. Rooms are beautiful and have everything you need. They are cleaned to a high high standard. Not a bad location but it takes ages to get anywhere because of Jakarta traffic. Grab is easy to get from this hotel. The pool was great too and had a nice pool area. I can’t speak on the gym as it was out of action for renovation whilst I was there. If I was to return to Jakarta I would definitely stay here again.

The room is comfortable, totally black out so i can sleep well without morning sun. The breakfast & dining menu is not kids friendly, most of the food are very spicy.

The breakfast could start earlier. We left at 6.30 am without something to eat. An option for early checking would also be appreciated; especially after a long travel it isn’t enjoyable to have to wait before your room is ready.

Try the breakfast, they have both buffet and a la carte. It is really nice. I don't know if is it possible to serve pork bacon on breakfast? If yes, then I really missed it.

- Irwansyah (9/5): Good for short stay. - First of all we were welcome with friendly doorman and reception. We fall in love with the classic historical Dutch colonial building. I was told it was the office building of the first Indonesian president Soekarno. We were amazed how beautiful the room as we felt back to the old time. Our bed really comfortable that we slept very well. We heard the prayer from the mosque but it doesn’t bother us at all as good as the room is soundproof. Plenty breakfast choices for asian and european. The location absolutely in the centre of Jakarta close to shopping centre, restaurants and bars. The Asian decoration bij the entrance and in the middle of the building next to the stairs it doesn’t fit with the classic antique building. Absolutely make the hotel not beautiful… pity.

Roomservice is snel. De faciliteiten zijn luxe. Het buffet is uitgebreid. De mensen zijn heel vriendelijk. Rooftop service is geweldig. Iets meer fitness facilities. Zwaardere gewichten bijvoorbeeld. En het contact is wel zeer professioneel. Mag soms wat losser zoals met de barman.

The room was very comfortable, with a separate living room with a TV. That helped us to watch separate TV programs. The pool is not my thing. When I am traveling for sigh seeing a country, I don't want to waste time lounging around a pool or beach. We are from Miami; we have our own best beaches. The hotel concierge service was very disappointing. They had no idea what their city had to offer. We had a list of places to see and visit. Any question related to those had a blank answer. It felt like they were also uninformed tourists, even about the surrounding restaurants. We selected a restaurant for dinner from Google. It was just around the corner at walking distance. I asked which way to start. They were clueless,

The staff were fantastic. Nothing - this hotel is an 11 out of 10.

Das Personal extrem freundlich, und die Zimmer großzügig und spektakulär. Im neuen Stock ist der Swimmingpool und die Rooftop Terrasse mit grandiosen Ausblick auf die Skyline. Auf der Rooftop Terrasse ist kein Kleiderzwang, d.h. ganz leger in kurzen Hosen, T-Shirt, Sandalen. Nächste Absatz wenn man ein Club Zimmer hat, gibt es Zugang zur Club Lounge, wo es Cocktails, Wein, Bier und Essen gibt, der Aufpreis lohnt sich. Das Frühstück ich heute Morgen genossen hab ist grandios, leider konnte ich da nicht viel genießen, da ich auf den Flughafen musste. Ich war leider nur ein Tag im Hotel, was ich bereue, da ich vorher in einem anderen Hotel übernachtet habe.

- TheAdventureTellers (10/5): Beautiful Colonial Hotel with Excellent Service and Modern Rooms - A beautiful Colonial Hotel just slightly away from the busy main roads of the city centre. The rooms were spacious, modern, clean and equipped with a courtyard and reception area. There was a sense of peace at night as well. The bathrooms were excellent with the right amenities. The service was excellent throughout the day from breakfast right up to the reception. We even had drinks at their bar which had a 1950s old vibe to it. Everyone was courteous and always smiling. Breakfast was up to the mark of a 5 star hotel with menu service and buffet. A remarkable experience and I look forward to coming back.

Vincent welcomed me warmly upon arrival and ensured the check-in process was smooth and pleasant. Hanna, from the butler service, also provided attentive and thoughtful assistance throughout my stay—every request was handled professionally and with genuine care. A special touch came from Rizky Irvansyah, the General Manager, who extended a warm welcome through a personalized letter placed in my room. This gesture truly elevated the sense of hospitality and made my stay feel even more meaningful. The Junior Suite itself was spacious, beautifully designed, and perfectly aligned with the property’s heritage charm and refined luxury. Overall, an outstanding stay. I highly recommend The Hermitage Jakarta and look forward to returning again.

Wonderful food. One downside was that the hotel was generally far too cold; the air conditioning should be turned down. The wine selection was somewhat limited, especially white wine and beer by the glass. The breakfast was good, but the hot food on the buffet was cold, and the selection for vegans and vegetarians was not very good.

First, we value a strong residential sensibility when staying at a hotel and generally gravitate toward boutique-style properties. The Hermitage delivers beautifully on this front. Perfectly positioned in the heart of Jakarta yet nestled within an upscale residential enclave, it offers the best of both worlds: proximity to the city’s pulse, balanced by a genuine sense of calm. The colonial house architecture further aligns with our personal taste, lending the property character and charm. In a city where few hotels meet these criteria convincingly, The Hermitage truly does. Second, recognition for Bonvoy members is consistently generous. Upgrades are proactively extended—we never asked for one—and club benefits are offered. At its current price point, the value proposition is exceptional, especially when benchmarked against other Marriott options in Jakarta. Third, the rooftop deserves special mention. On a good day, it is among the finest spots in the city to enjoy a sunset drink. While Jakarta’s ongoing struggle with air pollution means sunsets can be hit or miss, when conditions align, the experience is genuinely memorable. For balance, it is worth noting that while service is clearly well-intentioned and warm, BUT it is nowhere near polished. That said, expectations are well-calibrated to the price point, and we have always felt satisfied with what we receive. A few observations: (i) Staff turnover appears relatively high, and we often encounter new faces on each visit. This understandably makes it more challenging to build long-term guest relationships and may contribute to inconsistencies in service finesse. (ii) There also seems to be some understaffing, particularly at the lounge, where occasional delays or oversights can occur. Thus far, these have been minor and manageable. It is also important to note that this is an intimate hotel that frequently hosts large-scale events, such as weddings. When such events are underway, the guest experience can be noticeably impacted, with the usual challenges of overcrowding and service strain. All things considered, The Hermitage remains a very solid Marriott option in Jakarta—one we continue to enjoy and are happy to return to.

The food is fantastic, especially the breakfast. There is so much choice. The stuff staff at reception were so professional and helpful. The two staff that stand out at breakfast are Silmi and Raysa. They are so polite and friendly. We had a lovely lady helping us at dinner whose name we didn’t catch but we chatted with about the hotel and the rainy season here. Thank you Hermitage for a lovely stay in Jakarta.

Het is een sfeervol hotel - geen enorm hoge toeristenfabiek- in koloniale stijl. Mooi half-open zwembad op de 9e verdieping. Het is tot nu toe mijn voorkeurs locatie geweest in Jakarta - maar als het onderhoud verder achteruit gaat, ga ik mijn keuze heroverwegen. Over het onderhoud hebben we bij de receptie een opmerking gemaakt. Het is nu (nog) net acceptabel, maar schimmel in de douche is onacceptabel. Het is simpel te verhelpen. Erg jammer. De organisatie van de nieuwjaar was een aanfluiting. In een poging extra geld te verdienen werd de schaarse ruimte rond zwembad en "roofbar" tegen betaling gereserveerd, waardoor slechts een paar klanten een zitplaats hadden. Dat er gereserveerd moest worden was mij niet bekend. Beter dat ze een feest oid hadden georganiseerd in de algemene ruimte(n). Dat was ook beter uitgekomen met het weer. Het hotel leest de reviews op booking.com blijkbaar niet.

- Miss Dawn E A (7/5): Couple of Day layover. - The character of the original building and the ground floor rooms is why we chose the hotel. It is also not situated in the main tourist area which we prefer. The bed was comfy and the surface clean. Breakfast was great. The staff friendly but in some cases it comes across as a forced happiness. On first glance the hotel looks great, but cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. With all the amazing classic designs to the wood and frames, there is a lot to be cleaned and it’s obvious the deep clean is not carried out on a regular basis, in either the public spaces or in the rooms.

- Ridwana (8/5): A calm and clean location in the middle of busy Jakarta - Very clean and comfortable, staff were always polite and ready to help. Breakfast was good, consistently good quality though not a huge variety. Only small things, hook by the shower for towel and more hangers in wardrobe would have been great.

The first bedroom we were given was a massive suite on the ground floor with an outside courtyard surrounded by a 2m high block wall protected with razor wire, kinda felt weird so we moved to a 2nd floor suite without a balcony which was far more 'hotel normal'. The roof top pool isn't on the roof top and it too has a block wall around it (they like block walls) with a double staircase to get to the actual roof top which is a bar, this area feels a little tired, but has some great views of the city.

As Australians it does also seem weird and unpleasant that people are allowed to smoke indoors while in the bar/ restaurant (luckily their ventilation is excellent so we were mostly not bothered)..

Situated in Menteng in a monumental building from the 1920s, expanded with a stylish new construction. Hospitality is written with a capital H here, just like in all of Asia. In this light, it is unbelievable that some hotels in the Netherlands (not a service country at all) give themselves (?) five stars. They rather mean two stars. The executive room is spacious and also very suitable for solo travelers and couples. The staff is, without exception, very customer-friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet and breakfast menu in the 1928 restaurant are rich in choices. This is a hotel to stay again and again. Definitely my favorite hotel in Jakarta. Returning guests like me are greatly appreciated and given a fantastic welcome. Nothing.

- Paul (10/5): An Exceptional Stay at The Hermitage Jakarta - An Exceptional Stay at The Hermitage Jakarta The Hermitage Hotel is without a doubt one of the most distinctive and exceptional hotels I have ever stayed at in Jakarta; and one I fully intend to keep returning to. As a vegan, it is often challenging in Indonesia to find truly good options at buffets or during fixed meal times. However, the kitchen and the entire team at The Hermitage went above and beyond my expectations. Both the breakfast and dinner buffet were included, and upon my request, the staff provided 100% support and care, preparing individual, fully vegan dishes just for me. This level of attention and service was nothing short of incredible. The facilities are excellent: a well-maintained gym with fully functioning equipment, and a swimming pool that is perfect for proper lap swimming. Everything is clearly cared for with great attention to detail. The location is another major highlight. The hotel sits along one of the most beautiful and green walking routes toward Bundaran HI and its surrounding malls. Despite being right in the heart of Jakarta, the area is wonderfully peaceful; it truly feels like being in the countryside while still in the middle of the city. The atmosphere, service, rooms, and the hotel’s nostalgic charm make this a place I will happily become a regular guest. The Hermitage has earned my loyalty. See you again next year! Minor point for improvement (written with hesitation, as my overall experience was excellent): With some reluctance, I mention this only because a review requires a “negative” section. As a vegan guest, I truly appreciated the effort and care from the kitchen, and the food itself was delicious. However, the most enjoyable vegan dish was served three days in a row, which felt a little repetitive. During the following two days, I received a salad instead. On the first day it contained mayonnaise, which of course is not vegan. This was immediately and very professionally corrected, with many apologies and a freshly prepared replacement; something I genuinely appreciated. Since the meals were included, my only small remark is that receiving the same dish multiple days in a row felt like a missed opportunity. Especially in Indonesia, a country so rich in colors, aromas, and flavors, I had hoped for more variety and perhaps a few more authentic vegan interpretations. That said, this is merely an observation and not a complaint. With an overall 10/10 experience, I truly cannot complain; I simply hope to see those wonderful Indonesian colors and flavors reflected even more on the plate next time. P.S. (For comparison with my previous stay): During my stay last year in December, dinner was not served as a buffet but as a set menu with choices. At that time, I had a very personal and pleasant conversation with the chef over tea, discussing how my vegan meals could be prepared and adapted. That experience felt very tailored and interactive. This year, the dinner offering was significantly more luxurious overall, with an impressive buffet featuring a wide variety of Indonesian and Western dishes. However, as it was a buffet rather than a choice-based menu, there was less flexibility in selection for vegan guests.
- Musliana (9/5): Wonderful experience for us as a family. - Our family had an amazing 3-night stay at the hotel. The overall experience exceeded our expectations, and we truly enjoyed every moment. The hotel’s classic and unique design transported us back to the colonial era, adding a charming and memorable touch to our stay. Travelling with a 3-year-old can be challenging, especially when he refuses to eat the whole day. We were worried, but the hotel staff were incredibly helpful and attentive. During dinner, rice wasn’t listed on the menu, but the staff kindly prepared some upon our request. To our relief, our child ate the rice with egg soup, and we were so grateful for the staff’s thoughtfulness. We stayed in the Club Benefit Studio Suite, which was spacious and perfect for our active child. At check-in, we were pleasantly surprised to learn that our booking included dinner as well. This made our stay even more convenient, as we didn’t have to search for nearby eateries. On our last day during breakfast, our child again refused to eat anything from the menu. A staff member approached us and offered additional options that could be prepared upon request. We asked for a child-sized fish and chips, which required a short waiting time. While waiting, our child enjoyed some porridge, and shortly afterward, the fish and chips arrived, thankfully, he ate it too. Overall, we deeply appreciate the warm hospitality, attentiveness, and kindness shown by the hotel staff throughout our stay. Their thoughtful gestures made a significant difference for our family and turned our trip into a wonderful experience. 1. During our stay, the smell of cigarette smoke was quite noticeable and frequently detected around the restaurant and guest lounge areas. Some guests were also smoking very close to the main entrance, which caused the smoke to drift indoors causing an unpleasant experience, especially since we were traveling with our 3-year-old child. We hope the hotel management can consider designating a smoking area slightly farther from the entrance, perhaps with a small gazebo or seating area. Adding a clear ‘non-smoking area’ sign at the main entrance could also help remind guests. These steps would help ensure a more comfortable environment for non-smoking guests and families. 2. We also observed that some of the female staff uniforms consisted of short skirts or long skirts with slits that revealed the thigh, knees, or calves. The outfits appeared a bit too revealing for a hotel setting. Perhaps in the future, the management could consider alternative uniform designs such as long pants or more modest skirts that still look professional, elegant, and aligned with cultural norms in many Asian countries. This adjustment may help maintain a polished and comfortable appearance for both staff and guests.

- Sole (5/5): Lamentable - El edificio antiguo es muy lindo. El restaurante es muy coqueto y el desayuno es excepcional. La falta de atención del personal, la limpieza y el mantenimiento deja mucho que desear. Quisimos tomar un aperitivo antes de la cena en el bar del hotel y solo nos daban una opción de marca porque el resto de marcas estaba restringido a clientes miembros del Marriot. No creo que las membresías sean formas de discriminar a clientes de un mismo hotel. Al otro día las disculpas fueron ofrecidas solamente a mi marido cuando ambos estábamos juntos y la reserva estaba hecha a mi nombre y la queja la había manifestado yo. Nuevamente, volvieron a discriminar. Fue muy triste que la última noche de nuestra Luna de Miel terminara opacada por estas actitudes desagradables.

It is easy to find kind personel in Indonesia (they all smile kindly), but this staff is not only kind, but also very professional. Quickly they know your name, room number and your personal preferences. This is the main reason we choose for this hotel. But also the style and comfort are very good. The shower is great. There is a nice pool. The location of the hotel is good, on walking distance from the trainstation. I can recommend taking the train to avoid the traffic jams! The hotel did do nothing with my previous review. We had access to the "club". Meaning between 18:00 and 21:00 (? not sure) you can get free drinks and there is a limited buffet. However, it is not up to standards of the hotel. First, there are no napkins available (why?) and serving drinks is very slow. Once i even walked away because the waiter was setting the record for the slowest service ever. HOWEVER. Here the staff noticed it, so on our next visit to the club the staff repeated my order from the last time. Like we said, the staff is SUPER. I wonder how the hotel manage more busy periods. On our last days it got more and more busy, so it was already hard to get a seat at the breakfast table. We will experience that, because we will be back during christmas time.

Het zwembad op het dak is heel mooi, alleen geen uitzicht (wel vanaf de dakbar). Personeel belde desgevraagd taxi's. Ik vond de prijs en kwaliteit niet in verhouding. Voor 120 euro per nacht in Indonesië kan je elders luxer (sfeervoller, meer service, kamer met buitenzitje) verblijven bv in Majapahit in Surabaya. Het eten/de roomservice viel tegen. Beveiligingshond bij de entree wellicht wat overdreven(!).

The rooms are a bit dated but it adds to the overall classical experience and look of the hotel. The highlight for me though was the dinning menu was delicious. Try the specialty jasmine tea while having your breakfast.
