• Global59032840250 (2/5): Reasons no to spend in Club Bentota - We had our very special day at Club Bentota, which cost 35000 LKR with a discount. First thing I noticed was the Check-in was done by a Bell boy & property was not well maintained, same as abandoned. Then someone came as the department head. I requested cloves & ginger for us. After multiple calls, I received ginger but no cloves. During the dinner chef informed that they don't have cloves. We saw the room floor is sticky with sea breeze. Then we found out hot water is not functioning. We had to have coz my wife was sick & to remove hair gel she has to have a shower. The maintenance department came 2 time with tools. I asked them not to repair it now bcoz it was already 7.00 pm & we were ready to take a shower. Due to the incidence we requested a room change. We changed the room to another that was worse than ever. Same sticky floor, with dust, not cleaned. The lady who said RDM made ridiculous arguments & we understood she is not capable of handling the room cleanliness. The Restaurant & Meals. We had bread only for dinner coz not even a single dish made an appetite. We appreciate the cake for the Honeymoon. That surprise was the worst we ever tasted. Food was a nightmare. What I noticed was that they don't use the ingredients that should be included. As a Hotelier, I concern even the food left by guests. But here, everything was very cheap & a poor recipe, with a small number of ingredients. We observed that the staff were in casual suits without uniforms. Balcony was as haunted mention, dangerous as broken. The bed preparation was 0%. Cleanliness is 0%—no spoons for Tea preparation. No wifi PW was mentioned. Our Honeymoon was wasted. Please accept my apology. As a Hotel Manager, that was the worst experience I ever faced for 35000 LKR. Not recommended for anyone.
• betelgeuseo2026 (2/5): Hotel that's a complete wreck and smells musty - Dilapidated hotel (more than a renovation, the hotel needs a proper reconstruction), rooms that smell of mold, sand fleas in the sheets (you don't notice the anticoagulant bites right away), broken wooden steps, shards of glass in the hallways, Wi-Fi only works (poorly) near the accommodation, third-world filth (in Europe this hotel would never pass health inspections). Avoid both TUI and this hotel. The staff is very kind and innocent: the workers' kindness is almost surreal considering they bear the blame for the hotel owners' faults. Only the hired staff and the endless beach are worth it. Other than that, not even the Addams Family would go to that place. We don't know how much TUI paid for the hotel rooms, but for the price we paid to TUI, we didn't deserve to live in that moldy wreck.
• R5994QPliamo (2/5): Hotel past its prime (if it had one) - We arrived at reception and were invited to sit facing the reception staff. After the check in formality we continued to sit until we finally asked about our room. It’s not ready. Not invited to relax in a comfortable place, there is no comfortable place. Room is ready. No indication from staff where the room was or where dinner/breakfast was served. Directions given go straight ahead and turn left (bedroom) and right (dining room. Our room was in fact not ready. Waited for that to finish. Room was freezing (notice at reception is not to adjust the A/c ourselves but to contact reception). Someone’s hair on the newly made bed, were the sheets changed? Room wasn’t secure, doors to the balcony could not be locked. No hand towels or bath mat provided. Decided to put the doona on the bed, turned out to be dirty and mouldy. At my wife’s request, a cleaner doona was provided Into the bathroom to find that the bottles of shampoo and gel were not new. The shower cubicle had a light that didn’t work. I could go on about dirty tablecloths at dinner, but the takeaway is the hotel doesn’t spend money on staff training or maintenance. Do not stay here.
• Malimoo2020 (2/5): Filthy isn’t enough to describe! - Hotel set in beautiful surroundings - couldn’t wish for a better setting. This was in total contrast to the filthy rooms which had mould on pillows, mattresses and walls not just for my room but also the rooms of 17 other people. Dirty bedding, towels, curtains. Dropping water through the ceiling leaking through the fire alarm. Tape around the shower head…the list goes on. We checked out the next day after trying for several hours to get new mattresses. Group of 50 there for a reunion - all checked out the next day too!
• SLB1301 (2/5): Vile! The most hideous place I’ve ever stayed! - We had read the reviews so were concerned about this hotel, bus as part of a tour we had no option but to stay. How bad could it be? Worse than you could imagine! The place looks and feels like it has not been cleaned in years! The first room we were taken to was dirty beyond belief, with someone’s towels still hanging in the bathroom. As we left to go back to reception a housekeeper took us to the room next door where he had clearly just cleaned the floor. We could smell the cleaning product so we agreed to move. Within twenty minutes of being in the room, the smell was overwhelming. The bathroom was beyond hideous, with stains, dirt, broken tiles and absolute filth… we decided at that point that we would wash in the sea! Using the toilet made you gag, the stench was so gross! The food was disgusting…. Cold, tasteless and not one table had a clean cloth on it… We sat down for lunch and left, not returning throughout the stay as the very thought of it made us gag! The pool had a layer of scum across the top and the sunloungers were all broken, filthy and in need of burning! We were there for 2 nights sadly and at 3.30am on the first night someone banged on our door and let themselves into our room! We did not wake up in time to see who they were or why! On the second night we were woken again at 11pm by someone banging on the door and demanding we pay our bill for the lunch and drinks we had, stating that there would not be anyone available to take our money in them or one before we left at 8am. Shocking! Even more so when we were approached in the morning to pay an element of the bill that they had missed! We seriously could not wait to get away from such a filthy, dirty, vile place. I keep chickens in better conditions than here! I appreciate that sometimes places can look and feel dated and that financial challenges make upkeep difficult…but cleaning is a basic requirement and there is none here! It looks like it has been abandoned for a number of years and it’s accepted that those staying put up with the grime and filth!

• 84dhanyar (2/5): Disgusting filthy rooms - Disgusting — that’s the only word to describe the rooms at this resort. I have never seen such filthy, horribly maintained rooms anywhere. Damp walls with flaky paint, spoiled wooden furniture, urine-smelling bathrooms, and even hair from previous guests still stuck to the walls and floor. The entire room and floor were completely damp. We went with high hopes to spend the last three days of our trip relaxing, based on the pictures and location, but the reality was beyond disappointing. The mattresses were hard, bent, and extremely uncomfortable. Somehow, we managed to spend one night, but literally ran away from this place the very next morning. Staying in such an unbelievably unhygienic room completely ruined the experience. Would never recommend this resort to anyone.
• V3464STsk (2/5): Terrible - Rooms are in terrible shape. We stayed in a deluxe room and upon entering could see the room was not well maintained. Peeling paint, rotting wood, and broken lock and chains. There were no towels, toilet paper, and housekeeping had not cleaned the room well. There was hair only the floor, dirt/sand in the showers, and everything was still wet. There is no wifi in the rooms and there is just poor planning and execution by management overall. Not sure if reviews are being altered but there were several other guests experiencing issues with their rooms. These type of accommodations should not be advertised falsely. We even spoke with the manager who claimed this is their standard room (broken locks and all). Really disappointed and will not recommend. Would have given zero stars if possible.

• nujuh2024 (10/5): My experience in Club Bentota - Visited Club Bentota recently with friends. The location is absolutely beautiful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We really appreciated their service! However, the place urgently needs better maintenance. During our stay, we faced an unpleasant issue where something (possibly an insect or small animal) had left droppings on the bed—we had to change the bedsheets multiple times. Also, parts of the restaurant roof were leaking when it rained. This is such a valuable and peaceful spot. I hope the management takes proper care of it, because it truly deserves to be preserved and maintained.

The fact that there is a lagoon on one side and the sea on the other adds to the beauty of this place, and this is a beautiful hotel located on a beautiful island. Likewise, the beautiful coconut trees here also convince you of the beauty of this island. The beach here is very beautiful and you can see the connection between the sea and the lagoon at one corner. From the land to this hotel also offers you a boat ride across the lagoon, a unique experience. Squirrels can be seen in large numbers.💞 Hotel and Rooms ☹ The building here is beautifully finished in the style of the southern plains of Sri Lanka.But As for the buildings and rooms here, they could be built in a better way, and we could see that the lighting in the rooms here was not enough. It would be great if Hindi and English movie channels were also included on this TV. We are not satisfied with the channels available on this TV. Food and Beverage 😋 When it comes to food and drinks here, the taste is well maintained and you will be able to enjoy delicious, clean and good quality food. Here, you will be delighted with the food you get, whether it's buffet or a la carte. The chiken , shrimp, and cuttlefish we got here stole our hearts, and deserts like caramel pudding and watalapan we got were also very tasty. Their buffet had a large variety of food and it was very tasty. Service 🤩 I must reiterate that we received very friendly and efficient service here. This hotel provided excellent service, from the front desk to the restaurant and the room boy. All the employees are friendly and kind. We also appreciate the services of Mr. Cendrick who assisted us over the phone and we would like to express our special thanks to Chandrasiri, Pamidu, Lakshana, Harshan, and Malshan and Sihanna who assisted us as Ram Boy. Also, the outstanding service and dedication of the restaurant manager, Theodore, who assisted us at the restaurant. The chef thiyanga who worked there, Chamod ,Situma ,oshan and Hansa, are also very grateful. We also fondly remember the service of the Food and Beverage Manager Chaminda, whom we met.
• teshy (6/5): A resort feel with a lot to improve upon - Location: Club Bentota is an old club converted into a resort. Location looks great with the sea on one side, with a private beach and the Bentota River on the other side that merges into the sea. This Paradise Island has many hotels and resorts along the beach that stretch for a few kilometres. But, there is no life on the beach. The sea was pretty rough, and we took a stroll in the hot sun and got back to our room. There are no activities, shacks or places to relax on the beach. Room: We had to wait for the boat to arrive as we reached Club Bentota from the main entrance. It was past 7 p.m. The room accommodating two adults and a child is spacious, and the bath area is isolated, which is a good thing. We had to change the room as the one allocated to us wasn't clean, and there was dust falling from the AC. It had a smell that is there when something is kept closed for a long time without ventilation. Some rooms have a balcony. The room was very comfortable. Since there is no intercom, you may have to use your phone to contact the front office or room service every time. WiFi is provided. Boat Safari: This place is located around 2 km from the town and far away from the Madu River, in case you choose to go there for a boat safari. However, this place also offers a boat safari on Bentota river at 8000 LKR. There wasn't much to see. Dense mangrove, few monkeys, eagle, giant lizard and a crocodile if you are lucky. We spotted a baby crocodile. Outdoors: They have a pool, bar and a restaurant. Dartboard and Table Tennis are also there for activities to engage in while you stay here. Food: Limited choice of food in the menu, and no proper lunch or dinner was available. The breakfast had a variety, and the spread was average. They have beer, wine and cocktails available too. Drawback: You have to wait for the boat to take you to the main entrance every time you wish to go out, and wait again for the boat to come and pick you up from the main entrance when you return. The wait is usually 10 to 15 minutes. So, plan accordingly. Squirrels constantly keep disturbing you while you are having your breakfast or meal, and they don't hesitate to climb onto your table and dig into your plate. Be cautious. The staff keep chasing them on request, but they are helpless. I wouldn't say 'No' to this place, but you can certainly find a better place that might be more lively if you search.

We experienced that you have enrolled the right personnel for the industry. They are highly committed to this hospitable profession. Further, your foods were delicious and we were surprised to see such varieties of attractive food items laid in the international buffet. • 292maneshap (10/5): This is a place where you will get value for money - This was our second time at this hotel. We were treated very well for the second time! The welcome was good. The rooms were very clean. The staff were very welcoming and focused on our comforts, helping us to feel at home, going out of their way to fix small problems, such as getting an adapter for our plug type. They even prepared a lovely cake for my parents golden wedding anniversary without much notice. Thank you, Atula and team! The restaurant staff were very considerate, regularly asking us if wanted any food made that was not in the standard buffet. So we enjoyed special treats like pittu, vadai, stringhoppers and kottu roti. Thank you to Theodore, Pasidu, Sadew, Ruchith, Oshan Naveen and others whose names were not mentioned, but worked behind the scenes to make sure we enjoyed every meal. The lifeguard, Kavishka made sure to look out for our safettyus, even though sometimes we were the only ones in the sea. The pool attendant and bar man provided everything we requested, jumping lengths to do so. I recommend the canoeing and the boat safari. Next time, yes we will definitely go back here, to do some wind surfing.

• Susmita (2/5): Overpriced Stay - not worth it - Would not recommend anyone to stay at this property. This is at one end of the Bentota beach and the walk on the beach to the other properties is long. Moreover, there are hardly any lights on the property visible from the beach. The room we were given had a smell as if the room had not been used for a very long time, the ac made a noise the entire night not letting us sleep, there were just two dim lights in the room. The service was also very poor - we ordered drinks at the bar and the bartender was very eager to close our bill. He kept repeating this every few minutes. The restaurant took more than an hour to serve us a la carte dinner. Overall, this was an overpriced property not at all worth it.

• noof (10/5): Nice beach and resort - To reach the hotel you have to ride boat from main land to club bentota cause the reception next to the river its between the river and the sea .. The resort have tennis and many games its very big resort and awsome .. Value for money.. But i did not like the animals there many dogs and monica also squrriel .. I hate the gecko there are a lot of them .. Actually they should kill them very digusting and disturbing
• Sriram (6/5): Lovely location,slow service,vegetarians beware - First the plus point-Resort enjoys a great location located as it is on a strip of land with the ocean on one side and a lagoon on the other-access is by boat! Now for the negatives-perhaps the resort owners expect guests to spend minimal time in the rooms-as there is no wifi in the guest rooms, room service is extremely slow(and they slap on a service charge to add insult to injury!) and tv options are very limited. Break buffet spread is nothing great and food options for vegetarians is very,very limited. Rooms are rather basic but comfortable and the bathroom is small,
• michael (2/5): Not worth the money - We booked this hotel for out final two days in Sri Lanka as a treat , Great location , we were upgraded from a standard room to a deluxe room but when we walked in the room was extremely disappointed it was small cramped and smelt of damp , after mentioning it numerous times they decide to change the room to a small chalet with twin beds, atleast it did not smell so if you are offered room 209 do not take it , only ate in the location once in the sea food restaurant but portions were small for the price. There is a buffet restaurant but have been told that the food is nothing special ,The hotel seems to Cater for the Chinese tourists who come for short trips to the restort
• Gokul (6/5): Good and average !! - The property is a huge and lavishly situated on a small strip of land facing sea and back waters. Enjoyed water sports and other recreations within the resort. Food was very mediocre. Comfort of the rooms were also very average for the price.

• Albatross (8/5): Great location and flavourful food - We enjoyed our stay oh the whole. The food was great with subtle flavours created by imaginative use of herbs and spices. The location too was good as was the service. But there was one minus. When we checked in, on a room only basis, they did what they called an 'ink print' i.e. billed us to cover our other expenses, without informing us beforehand. Since I have SMS alert on my credit card, it recorded as a transaction. On inquiring I was told that this was to 'block' the likely total of expenses. However, they should inform the guest of what they are doing.

• Ss (2/5): Don't stay here - Found a cockroach in my bedroom on first night. Another was found by my friend in her son's bedroom. The booking was for full board - the buffet was mediocre at best. We watched the cricket icc final in the lounge - 34 inch tv. No aircon, surrounded by geckos and flying bugs. Not good
