Guest Reviews
- Kimoiona (8/5): - It was a safe, quiet and convinient choice for a budget week stay. Had all room and kitchen neccesities available and changed upon request and hot water works well during sunny days.
- Jason Edward (2/5): Won’t return - Stayed here in 2016. Was ok
In 2025 it was terrible
No hot water
Soap like cardboard
No towels
Noisy
Avoid
- Shaneel (2/5): - This is the worst place I have ever stayed at, everything dirty roaches every where ,sheets dirty things broken . only good thing staff very nice and a ac unit in the room
- Dan (2/5): - I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with my recent stay at your hotel Elixir Hotei In Suva . The overall condition of the room was absolutely unacceptable and far below even the most basic standards.
The room was in a filthy and dirty state upon arrival.
The shower and toilet were in a particularly disgusting condition—clearly not cleaned or maintained.
The air conditioning did not work, making the room extremely uncomfortable.
There were no towels provided, nor was there any soap for handwashing.
There was also no extra sheet or blanket, which made sleeping very uncomfortable.
This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. I strongly urge your management team to address these issues immediately to avoid further complaints and negative reviews. Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos
- navigator8850 (2/5): Worst of the worst. - Certainly the worst of the worst. I stay in hotels 50% of the time for the past 16 years. This one takes first place as the worst, beating even PNG. Where do I start? Cockroaches even in the fridge, cockroaches eggs around the sink, cockroaches squashed on the wall. TV remote missing, A/C remote not working, furniture from the 1970, broken balcony glass, only one sheet on the bed, etc.
- Fedelesi (6/5): - There was no TV in our room.
No phone too
- Michael (8/5): - Convenient
- Michael (8/5): - conveniently close to main shopping center
- Antonio (10/5): - An amazing place to book, safe and close to all the amenities.
- Ulamila (4/5): - Spacious rooms are the best place to stay in.
- Sabrina (10/5): - Thanks to the excellent customer service provided by the hotel staff, it felt like home. I'm definitely going back here again on my next trip.
- Payal (2/5): Disgusting , fake pictures - The place was disgusting , as soon as we entered the room it have awful smell . The cabinet we broken the fridge was discolored with dirt. Cockroach runing around. Washroom door won't close fully so locked it was not even a question!! . Shower had dirt on the floor and wall . Bedroom were as bed with stain on the bed spread. No blankets .
We went down to ask for blankets they didn't have anything was told they are filled book so they don't have any left . So what about this 2 bedroom apartment beds were not supposed to have blankets?? I asked her if the room was not cleaned she replied it was cleaned and they were waiting for a quest to arrive for the same room that was given to us . I told her that it doesn't seem like it was as you can clearly see the dirt every where . If it was for the sleeping kids and middle of the night with no option available we were gonna leave Even without my refund which we were not gonna gets.tried adding pictures of the place it won't let me . Picture on the hotel.com are fake !!
- Mohammed (6/5): - I did not get what I saw advertised.
- Niraj (2/5): - No AC.no towel no soap.terrible room.first and last booking.
- Rita (2/5): - The info advertised is misleading and does not reflect the true nature of the place. It is filthy. The place needs a clean and furnishing needs to be updated for the prices advertised.
- Asena T (8/5): - Friendly staff
- Lopini (2/5): - This is a dirty place I ever seen in Suva. Not a good place to stay.
- Michael (10/5): - First of all the staffs were very friendly and helpful..secondly they provides everything to make sure that we are satisfied and feel comfortable and also feel at home.
- Isaac (2/5): - Terrible value for money - TV wasn't working. No towels, no soap and was not clean. Staff didn't know I had booked despite being prepaid and booked online via Expedia. I almost walked out but had no where else to go. Will never return unless I no other option.
- Stanley (2/5): - Don’t waste ur money on this property, very dirty place to stay, ac doesn’t work, rooms are filthy and disgusting
- viliti (2/5): - Pictures advertised on website does not match.
No restaurant, no iron/ironing board/ they only supply packages of sugar..are they that cheap ?
Toilet paper disgusting. ! Cheap toilet paper all loose...
Two people booked, only one towel..
BED ....OH BOY, SIT AT THE EDGE OF THE BED AND YOU SITTING ON METAL SPRINGS..THE BED IS DISGUSTING INDEED, PLS GET NEW INVENTORY ON BEDS
ROOM IS DISGUSTING INDEED
WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN !
- Eminoni (4/5): - The hallway was dirty and wet and no room service. There was also no towel in the room and the AC was not working well.
- Samantha (10/5): - Everything is very good except one thing only one room was air conditioning the other one room was no air conditioning but everything is good room is clean that the most important
- ali (4/5): - Location is nice. Staff are pleasant. Service is ok but need to have the restaurant service available.
- Terence (2/5): - best things were the receptionist an staff
- Christine (2/5): - The place had too many roaches. Short on staff. Theres no manager to talk to. Not recommended for overseas visitors or any visitors. 2 staff for cleaning entire hotel. Owner has a side cleaning chemicals business but doesnt do anythg abt the roaches
- Max (2/5): - I booked in for 4 nights and stayed 2 nights. There was cockroaches everywhere, no hot water and the cold water was worked sometimes, no TV reception, no internet, no laundry facilities, you can feel the springs in the bed this is the worst place i have ever stayed in.
- Francis (6/5): - Kasa at the fron desk was more than helpful but problem is the Wi-Fi and internet we’re not working they couldn’t find my reservation not very professional I have been staying at the Tanoa across the street. It wasn’t a very good choice
- sagarrajan (6/5): Holiday - Nice place to stay. Service is exceptional. The only thing restaurant has been closed for lunch and dinner for the past two days and the reason given was that the chef was sick. Otherwise service was good and decent rooms plus great view of the city.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location is good. I was expecting a kitchen with utensils and micowave in the apartment.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointing stay for guest from Australia - Very disappointing to see that the hotel is listed as 2star. It shouldn't really have any star.
- Rebecca (8/5): - It was good... but Elixir has issues on internet
and tv channels reach
- Fijigold24 (10/5): Great Service Great Deals - My family and I stayed at Exlir. Great customer service by front staff including the General Manager, Chetty who made sure we settled in and provided us with a great room. Food was quality yet very affordable. Rooms were clean and housekeeping was always available when we needed them most.
Location is excellent and close to other restaurants, shopping and Albert Park for exercise. Thank you for the experience and making our stay one to remember.
- deomd13 (6/5): Mother's Day Dinner - Nice, small & quite environment. One page menu option cz plenty guests prefer other options available in the city but they have good food....loved the creamy fish and dessert. Staffs were friendly too.
- Broderick (4/5): - That it had its own amenities such as toaster, kettle
- Justwant2say (2/5): Not recommended - We booked this last minute and wish we had been more thorough with our research. The pictures are not reality. We booked a studio but there were none of these left so we were ‘upgraded’ to a 2 bedroom apartment... which sounds like a bonus but definitely not. The first room we went to was thick with mould and had a broken outside door. Generally dirty and dank. The fridge was smelly and kitchen was not sanitary. Being reasonable people we talked to the reception and they said there was another room we could look at. We had little choice but to take this room as it was late - it was better than the one on the 3rd floor but still what you would expect to find in a bad backpackers.
We are not fussy people and don’t mind if things are a bit tired but there is no excuse for motels to be dirty. Charge accordingly if you can’t keep rooms in good clean condition.
If you want to stay here then ask for a room away from the main road and don’t be afraid to ask for a cleaner room. If you have mobility issues, be aware that there is no lift. Wifi is via prepay but the reception only had $100 vouchers to sell.
Parking is good, cockroaches are not.
The staff we dealt with were helpful but clearly not that interested in what we had to say. Aircon wars broken in bedroom so they brought us a fan.
Please... find another hotel.
- RDuguivalu (2/5): APPALLING!! - We arrived around 11.15pm from the West for a wedding! We were hoping for a nice 2 bedroom apartment for the bride and her bridesmaid to get ready in. Oh my the disappointment after 4 flights of stairs when entering the room!!! The first thing I noticed was the old table top and thought they could have covered it at least with a table cloth, than I glanced at the kitchen- it looked old dirty and shabby. the walls looked dirty (or is it just the horrible paint choice) and the room décor dull! Aircon in 1 room wasn't working and the airon in the living room could barely keep up. I told my cousins not to unpack as I quickly called around and found us a room at Suva Motor Inn for around the same price and was 100 times better!!! We left half an hour later at midnight for Suva Motor Inn. I was kind enough to leave $50 as a day rate since it was already midnight but they had the cheek to ask for $80. I told them they were lucky I was leaving $50 because the room wasn't even worth that. Worst experience I have had with hotels and I have stayed in most hotels in Suva. the reception area is deceiving, so pretty and new but BEWARE the ROOMS!!!!!
You welcome.
- UshmendraH (4/5): DIRTY ROOMS and POOR SERVICE - The room we were allocated though new was dirty, perhaps never mopped. The room had just few utensils, insufficient towels, toilet paper etc. The staff had to be called every time we wanted something in the room as it was short supplied. The TV had no remote and the air conditioner was not working. The room had cockroaches as well.
Our room was allocated next to a noisy road even though we paid $295/ night for a 2 bedroom apartment.
Internet was so expensive to buy.
- fredericks508 (8/5): Home cooked Meals in a busy city - We took our 10 yr old son for the yearly primary schools swim meet in Suva and to have the facilites Elixir provided allowed us to share these special moments with more of the Suva family. There was enough space for quite a few of us to bunker down during the nights and very central to get chinese shop hot bread in the mornings.
- ToonAmbro (4/5): When There is No Option - Have to upgrade from previous allocated room which equipped with awful drainage smell.
Costly upgrade.
Total rates will put me in three-stars hotel in Bali.
Broken gas stove, cockroaches and 2 (yes, two) TV channels.
Elixir is when you have no option in Suva.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Bathroom old and not well presented and desk on wall not level.
- 132irfanm (2/5): Disgusting room - I got off from my vehicle to go to the front desk. From my walk to the front desk it was all good and a very nice feeling. I asked them to check my name on their register and confirm for me to check in. Reception asked me to wait 20minutes and after i asked again and they told me to wait 20 minutes more. I noticed 20 mins was way over and it was now about to reach the 1 hour mark. We finally checked in to our room. Upon going up to the room, no lifts very very steep steps,!not suitable for old folks and as soon as we entered the room.. Bloody hell. So awesome and amazing(NOT). DISGUSTING DISGUSTING DISGUSTING. the cupboard doors all open and cockroaches flying around and rooms look like a brothel room going for 10$ an hour. Even the beds were so unsleepable that i had to take a rest on the couch(could find one) which they said was in the room. But upon inspection nothing was there. Just a chair. Lol.what a lie.
MY ADVISE TO U:!!!!
NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS BOOK ELIXER DISGUSTING HOTEL. U WILL REGRET UR STAY EVERY SECOND AND U WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SAVE URSELF FROM THE BAD SMELL AND DIRT FILLED BED SHEETS AND PILLOWS WITH BLOOD DOTS ON THEM.
"IT IS BEST FOR YOU IF YOU SPEND AN EXTRA/$30 AND STAY AT TANOA HOTEL OPPOSITE ELIXER. YOU WILL BE THANKFUL FOR IT
.
CHEERS.
DONT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER.
- Maka (8/5): Perfect get away hotel - It's a great hotel, great location and friendly staff.
- joenalewabau (2/5): Terrble - This without a doubt the most terrible place we have stayed in in Fiji.
Not only was it run down, the tv did not work, the cooking facility was dirty, the shower smelt like a urinal and the manager was out right disinterested in even listening to our complaints.
Save your money don't go there.
- Li (8/5): Nice - The location is perfect, a few minutes walk to town. And the service is sweet.
- Rozila (2/5): Bad experience - Very dirty hotel, hotel leaking from every where, sheets and towels looks like never washed. We paid so much and even AC wasn't working. Just totally rip off.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great for those on a budget - Right in the heart of the CBD. Within walking distance of shops, bars, etc.
- Rosie (2/5): Dirty - From rooms to linens very dirty seems like never washed, AC not working either. It's a pile of garbage this hotel. Never ever will stay there. And check in time was 2pm but we waited until 4.30 b/c they say room wasn't ready.
- Rachel (2/5): Don't stay here - I saw a rat, the sheets were torn and smelt old. Bathroom drainage bad!!!
- markbN4573NF (2/5): Dreadful place in need of total renovation - I feel very sorry for this place - probably the saddest looking hotel we've ever stayed in. Filthy towels, barely any light fittings, cracked windows, damaged doors, toilet that didn't flush, TV without a remote, bed made with the dirty woollen blanket on the inside (very strange way to make a bed).
Given that they charge Western prices, it is difficult to understand why they don't invest something in the rooms. Our studio was utterly charmless.
The staff were friendly. But the 5-star ratings here on Tripadvisor are very dubious...
- Jonathan (8/5): - Hotel still needs repairs after cyclone Winston, but we understand that it takes a little longer to do these things in Fiji, comfortable and clean
- John (10/5): Nice hotel - Hotel is always a pleasure to stay at. Receptionist is very helpful n they now have a bar n restaurant.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Ok - We booked in for a week in Room 402.
Door was difficult to shut.
The toilet was clean but had a foul smell.
The shower door would not close.
Cockroaches were visible.
- Don (10/5): Great location, secured and for a good price. - Wonderful experience. I ate three meals here. The hotel got 24 hour security guard. It is close to the center of the town. You can walk to the center. Taxi is reliable, picked me up 3:30 am, and took me to the airport.
- JinH1990 (4/5): Decent budget hotel - I stayed here for 7 nights. Room had the necessary amenities you need. Beds were a little hard but it did the job. Short walk into town, very convenient. $5-$8 cab ride.
No restaurant on site, wifi was at an extra cost, staff friendly.
Housekeeping in the room could do a little extra TLC. We came into the room and there were amenities from previous guests left behind, one day they didn't replace the toilet paper - it's the little things that matter. Also one of the days reception staff seen my partner and I bring alcoholic beverages back into the room only to be informed we weren't allowed, we mentioned we weren't chucking a party as it was only the two of us. Found that a little weird.
It would also be a nice touch for reception/porter staff to help with luggage as there were no elevators.
Overall a decent stay, one of the cheapest hotels in Suva.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Loud on Saturday night, not a good place if you want to go to sleep
- bawseladyx (2/5): PATHETIC - I'd never recommend this product to anyone. I still remember the day we came in with our 3 month old son & we nearly suffocated with the amount of insects spray they just sprayed in the room that we booked. Dead roaches on the counters & missing door knobs. Just PATHETIC 😠
- Turista_academia (6/5): Good service but the building needs renovation and equipment - As in many hotels, the staff is the redeeming factor for this hotel. They are friendly and helpful. This could not change however, the aging building with leaking faucets and lights that cannot be turned off. Although Suva is generally safe, door and window locks are relatively easy to open with some even not functioning. The kitchens only have wooden spoons, you must learn to use it to cook any dish. My room did not have a frying pan and I have to point to the staff that I saw one in the other room. The location is nice but I do really hope that the owners will re-invest to upgrade the building and re-stock the kitchens. When I was reserving via email, they said that I need to forward credit card details but they did not mention which details are needed. Good thing that they still reserved a room for me.
- christianleepo (4/5): Had look; decided to look elsewhere. - Reception and Staff were kind enough to show us their "family apartment." Unfortunately its old and run down. Not very clean. Needs a major facelift. I noticed they were doing some major work in the reception area and the entrance so do not be misguided by the new look from outside. Ask the receptionist for a quick look at the rooms before deciding to check in or make a reservation. I sincerely hope that they work on the rooms very soon, if at all.
- ChanMasi75 (4/5): Disappointing - Location and the service of the concierge was fantastic.
Constructive criticism - Rooms were still not ready for check in at 3pm. When we reported no hot water, they sent someone to check on the roof and came into the room to feel it. After that, we never heard back again so we were left with cold showers the entire stay.
- ajneelk (10/5): Nice Stay - I stayed there for 11 nights...Its like home away from home. Will go there again. Very helpful staffs. Just a bit of job will make the place better, but for me it was value for money. The porter made our day
- ElizabethR725 (2/5): Conned and Unprofessional. - Booked online via expedia/venere.com using credit card but when called to confirm with booking reference was told by reception and manager that our booking nonexistent for the date we'd booked for. We were assured that as we weren't on their system, we weren't going to be billed. The manager assured me that as there was nothing in the system, there was no need to cancel our supposed online booking.
Fast forward a week later, the charges were billed to our card.
Attempts to clarify how and why, proved futile as the manager hemmed and hawed. Conned! Email received from their reservations confirm charging us for a room we'd booked online for despite their own staff saying we were nonexistent. Classic blame game. Staff not well versed as to online advertising sites or its partners. Obviously request for a refund denied by the same manager. Speaks volumes.
- Tony (4/5): Air con leaking on to bed..coacroaches in the room - Staff were very friendly despite the conditions. Need more staff in the evenings especially to take care of issues with rooms.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Cooking facilities - Portable gas burner on a bench, a kettle and a fridge plus knives and forks. But nothing else - no saucepans, large knife, cups, etc.
- anavuki (6/5): Could Do Better - We booked 2 rooms for a night and though the staff were friendly and very helpful with our requests, questions etc - the rooms are VERY TIRED and needs renovation and a good clean.
Thank you to the team for their help and their hospitality but Management needs to look at their rooms.
- glenda (10/5): Lovely staff and walk into city - It was a good value stay with lovely staff. The room was huge. There was a small shower problem which was fixed instantly.
- OutdoorAdventures_70 (6/5): Ok for 1 night - This place is ok for one night, staff are friendly if not "over friendly" Used it as a place to sleep while in Suva, very good location only 5 minute walk to centre of town, like most of Fiji hidden charges apply that are not advertised.
- Dennis (6/5): Suva city - Hotel on main local bus routes and an easy walk to city centre - about 1km.
Parliament House about 300m away and visitors welcome. The city is surrounded by sea and walk around esplanade picturesque. No sand but lovely parks, gardens and playgrounds. I was there for my first cyclone experience - Winston.
- natasha (4/5): Walking distance to everything - Stayed here twice&both times when I went to check in my room wasn't ready very disappointing since I was tired from travelling&need rest...
- Heather (2/5): Suva stay - Read the reviews but stayed anyway as it was cheap!!!! And within walking distance of town.
Had a problem with leaking water in the toilet which took awhile to fix.
Room clean but very old and needs refurbishing.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Very noisy as our room was close to the road. - Staff was very friendly and exceptionally helpful, however the room was a bit worse for wear, although very clean and spacious. Other tenants were very noisy and traffic noise was very disruptive.
- sandy (6/5): Served purpose - Stayed at elixir apartments for 2 nights. Basically served the purpose of a short stopover in Suva before heading west. The newly renovated exterior looks nice. However the same needs to be considered for the inside. had Some problem with the air conditioning which was fixed but noisy throughout the stay.
- Alex (6/5): Handy but not comfy - Good location, friendly staff, slightly below average rooms.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Served the purpose that I was looking for while on business in Suva
