Guest Reviews
- Beryl (10/5): first class pub accommodation and food. - Very comfortable and spacious room . Rooms all in a ground floor building which had been tastefully decorated and furnished. Food in evening and breakfast very tasty. Service was great. Check in show as being from midday. However on checking in just before 3pm the pub shut so had to wait for it to reopen at 5p for any service.
- trevor (10/5): The stay was excellent and would definitely go back. - The breakfast was lovely, service was excellent, accommodation was lovely, the only thing was being in room 5 the road was a bit noisy, next time we come we will just book another room, other than the noise of the road everything was spot on, thank you.
- Trevor (9/5): Lovely family run friendly hotel - Lovely room with good facilities
Staff very friendly and ideal location for what we wanted
- Michael (10/5): Brilliant place to stay - Very helpful staff nice & clean & excellant cooked breakfast
- Jim (8/5): Nice place and good quality accommodation but enact to a main road. If your a light sleeper may cause you an issue with - Very modern and spacious enough for 2 adults The accommodation was by a main road and lorry’s passing by through the night kept me awake
- Robert (10/5): Thoroughly recommended ! - Splendid welcome - spacious well-appointed accommodation in ground level rooms - excellent breakfast and dinner facilities in the restaurant with wide ranging menu. Thoroughly recommended. Not a lot !
- Robert (9/5): -
- PAMELA (9/5): A visit to friends - Room was large and homely. The food was very good both for breakfast and we had evening meal. Would stay here again next time we visit friends
- Michael (9/5): It was exactly what I wanted and as I expected. I have stayed here before and hope I will again. - I enjoyed the evening meal, the drink beforehand in the bar, and breakfast. The service was excellent and everyone there was welcoming. The room was also exactly what I wanted.
- Philippa (9/5): Perfect overnight stop. - Easy to find and park, pretty pub with garden and terrace, lodges in the garden make charming bedrooms, clean comfortable quiet room, lovely staff, good food. Nothing
- Richard (9/5): -
- Kevin (9/5): - Comfortable bed.
Good food.
- Wendy (10/5): - Incredible value for money. Great pub and little hotel. Perfect as always.
- Rebecca (9/5): -
- Helen (9/5): - Beautiful rooms, excellent breakfast.
- Deborah (9/5): - Lovely room, food great evening meal and breakfast Rooms very warm, did have the option of air con but didn't seem worth it for one night
- Ben (9/5): - Nice room. Good location. Great food!
- Paul (8/5): -
- Andy (8/5): Clean and welcoming, food good, - Rooms were separate from building and looked brand new builds. Bed was comfy, room was clean and well presented. Main meal and breakfast was very good. Air conditioning was available for an extra £5 per night which I felt was a bit “Ryanair” we didn’t need it but I would imagine the rooms will need it in hot weather. I do appreciate that it’s a sign of the times though with energy costs.
Nothing the business can do, but the rooms are on a very busy road and Lorry’s were thundering past all night so quite noisy.
- Sandra (9/5): - Pleasant friendly staff, good evening meal and breakfast comfy room some road noise but didn't bother us
- Hilda (10/5): -
- John (10/5): Our second stay at the Old Oak Tree was excellent. - The dinner and the breakfast the next day was exceptional. The possibility of taking the dog for a walk was very convenient as well. There is nothing that we think could be improved upon.
- BRIAN (9/5): A great short break, we will be going back again. - Our room was much larger than expected, as was the shower. We really enjoyed the food , both breakfast and dinner, and all the staff were very friendly. The only thing we noticed was some road noise, but this did not spoil our stay at all.
- Peter (8/5): Relaxing and a good experience. Would definitely go back - Excellent location only a 20 minute walk to Thirsk Nothing, great value
- Dave (10/5): Excellent food and staff - Staff . Food Extra charge to turn ac on .
- Julie (10/5): Great place location food and and staff excellent - Amazing breakfast Nothing
- David (9/5): An affordable comfortable lovely stay - Just fitted the bill for our ongoing journey around the Yorkshire dales
Lovely to have a couch and a bit more space in the room. Can walk from accommodation to Thirsk along stream and fields in 35 mins. Can imagine in summer time outdoor pub seating would be brilliant. Great dinner menu choices, delicious food and breakfast was generous and good service all round.
- Liz (9/5): - Good breakfast, lovely room. Good facilities Can't think of anything I didn't like
- Ciara (8/5): Lovely place to stay - Really nice size room with a sofa, lots of daylight including skylight. Coffee making facilities, a decent shower, and the rooms were separate from the main pub. Very easy to park. Clientele in the pub were friendly, good atmosphere. I would have like more veggie options but a business caters to what customers want so quite understandable. Only thing was very little sound proofing between the next room. Luckily considerate guests. If this was improved it would be perfect.
- bill (10/5): - Everything was excellent, can't wait to visit again.
Food & accommodation was exceptional.
- Jackie (9/5): -
- Chris (7/5): It fit my requirements. - It had what I needed The clown who came in to sit at the end of the bar and went on to pontificate about what is right/wrong with the world. Apparently every village has one !
- David (10/5): Excellent. Just what we wanted. - Welcoming, clean and comfortable.
- Martin McIntosh (9/5): Very nice and pleasant - Very good service and great food None. All good
- Michaela (8/5): -
- Manley (9/5): Value for money, pet friendly and easy to get into Thirsk - Fruit and yogurt at breakfast would have been nice as I don’t go in for cereal but the full English was good. We thought a glass of wine and half a lager at £12.20 was expensive
- Heather (10/5): -
- David (10/5): First class experience - Spacious, well equipped, comfortable room; excellent food and drink; friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Nothing
- Martin (10/5): The rooms are very spacious the breakfasts were really good wiih plenty of choice, Staff were great. - From start to finish everything went great.
Arrived early by 15 mins & the rooms were ready.
there are 5 rooms to the side of the pub that are like lodges
strongly recommended i cant think of anything wrong
- Greene (10/5): Very comfy, lots of room, lovely and quiet, we had a great time! - It was a lovely clean quiet stay we loved our stay The only thing I would say is that we couldn’t close the skylight and so it was slightly difficult to sleep once the sun rose in the morning but other than this is was beautiful
- Dave (10/5): From the cheery welcome when we arrived, the warm, ample, comfortable room to the final delicious Cooked Yorkshire break - There wasn’t anything to dislike!
- Gloria (10/5): Brilliant pub and restaurant. - Brilliant stay, beautiful room and fabulous food. The location was great for travelling to other destinations p, eg York, Pickering and Malton. The staff were really friendly, atmosphere in the pub was great.

- Trisha Cole (10/5): -
- Stephen (8/5): -
- Kerry-Ann (10/5): - Breakfast was amazing. Not quite early enough on the monday as i needed to leave for a work meeting. Oat milk was available too which was a relief. It was all fab and the dogs were welcome too
- Marina (10/5): Friendly and welcoming. A good night sleep - Good full Yorkshire cooked breakfast with toast. Also
Included fruit juice and cereals. Nicely presented. Everything was to our liking.
- Linda (9/5): Comfortable and great value - The room was warm and very clean. Comfortable bed and good shower with toiletries. Nice to have a sofa and coffee table.
Breakfast was good, with cereals, juice three or four hot options and toast on offer. Pastries or similar would have been nice but not really needed.
We chose to have dinner in the pub - homemade, tasty and very good value. The rooms are in an annex across the car park which meant a chilly sprint across for meals.
- Hughes (10/5): Another peaceful break - The rooms are super comfy and well equipped with a fridge ironing board and iron. Great mattress as I have back problems. Pillows are too soft for myself but great for hubby. And the room was a little too hot
- Deb (10/5): Our new "go to" accommodation in Thirsk! - Our stay was fabulous! The accommodation was spacious and spotless, with good quality furnishings and a most comfortable bed.
We ate lunch in the pub, as well as breakfast the next morning - both meals were very good, served by friendly, efficient staff.
The whole stay was excellent and we feel we've found our new "go to" accommodation when visiting family in Thirsk. The pub closed unexpectedly early...
- Gillian (9/5): - Good sized room with TV, comfortable bed and larder cupboard complete with kettle, tea and coffee and biscuits. Water and milk was in the fridge in the wardrobe. Very nice touch with nice mugs and glasses. TV had Netflix. Iron, ironing board and hairdryer were also supplied. Breakfast was in the pub with a good choice of cooked food. Pub also had a great menu for an evening meal. It seemed very popular. There was a bit of road traffic noise but it was quiet after 10pm.
- Melanie (10/5): Excelent stay - Staff and service very friendly and welcoming xx Food was Amazing x Nothing . We liked everything x
- Gerry (9/5): Very large room, great value. - King size room with large ensuite toilet/shower, excellent value for money at £75 (including breakfast).
Dinner was very good, steak and ale pie with chips and veg. I asked for a half size chheseboard (not on menu) which was agreed. Lovely cheeses (four of them). I was still eating when a large group of darts players came in, and although they were not overly loud it was a bit disruptive. For a Monday night it was a busy pub.
- Chris (10/5): Excellent stay and food - Everything. Room was excellent. Breakfast included and great Nothing
- Amanda (10/5): -
- Ian (10/5): Highly recommend - Rooms situated in lodges in the car park are excellent - spacious, clean and comfortable. Dinner menu was extensive and also had lots of daily specials !, Nothing
- Glynn (10/5): Will definitely book again! - Lovely spacious room and bathroom.
Food was great and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
- Phil (9/5): -
- sally (10/5): Nice night away. - Lovely pub serving good food completed with comfortable accommodation. All the staff where great Nothing
- Ann (10/5): Great accommodation and delicious food. - The room had everything you could want for a short stay, even a fridge. The accommodation is in a separate building complex a very short walk across from the pub. Had an evening meal as well as the breakfast and all the food was excellent. We wished we were staying longer so that we could sample more food on their extensive menu. Large car park, so no problem parking. Nothing
- Helen (8/5): -
- john (9/5): the 2 nights we stayed was thoroughly enjoyable.ideally situatedjust off the a19. - the breakfast was very nice indeed and well presented .plenty of toast and more if wanted tea and coffee nice and hot.the room was nice and spacious. shower plenty of room and clean.extra pillars if needed.and the bonus was a fridge in the room was great. cannot really say anything more.
- Bruce (9/5): -
- John Edward (8/5): A pleasant enough overnight stay in a conventional inn with a good kitchen. - The typical pub dining menu, quality and quantity of the dishes, were a cut above most similar establishments. Check if dogs are allowed into the rooms. The carpeting seemed rather unclean.
- Hannah (9/5): Clean, comfortable and lovely accomodation. Peaceful village location. Lots of car park space. - Comfortable clean homely feel room. I liked that I could turn the radiator on or off. Friendly staff. Food was delicious. Can't wait to stay here again.
- William (9/5): Friendly and clean - Excellent breakfast Bed too hard
- Barbara (10/5): - High standards of room facilities , cleanliness, food, staff and excellent value for money

- Wendy (10/5): - Excellent as always.

The toast for breakfast was quite small not the standard bread size and for a guy like me that enjoys a good breakfast it made a difference. But that didn’t put me off breakfast was still very good
