Guest Reviews
- Diana (9/5): Lovely stayover - Beautiful accommodation and setting. Staff we helpful and we really enjoyed our time at Casa Brandariz Dinner was very expensive!!
- Fernandes (10/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): Waren leider nur 1 Tag hier , wäre gern länger geblieben. - Wunderschönes Anwesen mit perfekt gewähltem Interieur
- Helena (7/5): -
- Catherine (8/5): Enjoyed our stay. - Setting Seems to be looking a little tired.
- Ivor (5/5): - Non working aircon, no food available on the day

- Evelyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Livia (9/5): Superb -
- LORENZO (10/5): - Increíble !!!!
- Fran (10/5): Not disappointed stayed at this property in 2014 - Outstanding Nothing
- Simon (7/5): Curate's Egg - The buildings which comprise this property are stunning. Old and yet beautifully maintained, if a little twee in their presentation in places. Beautiful gardens too. The location is fabulous, with great views over scenic countryside. Our room, which was the one positioned above the entrance patio of the hotel, was fine - spacious enough for the two of us. Good value for money, in terms of a place to stay, but see below. The bathroom was well equipped, although it was not always possible to run hot water in the shower. I'd really like not to have to do this bit, and it feels a little odd given the high overall rating of the property - but I pride myself on my honest and balanced reviewing so here goes. There was little guidance as to the norms of the property on arrival, such as where to get a drink etc. The hostess was showing some others around but somehow missed our tour. We did take the opportunity for an evening meal. The starter and dessert were both excellent, although the main course (the only one offered) consisted of a very dry chicken dish. I also think that in a guest house thirty euros per head for the menu, not including any drinks, is a little beyond expectations. The price was not advised in advance. Drinks were reasonable, for the most part, although here comes my biggest gripe. I'm a massive aficionado of Anis. They serve Mono, my favourite brand. During each trip to Spain I tend to buy a bottle or two to take home. This costs me approximately eight or nine euros per bottle. Imagine my shock on finding that my one glass, as seen on the bill, cost me eight euros - the price of a bottle! I understand that mark-ups are needed for a living to be made but for my mind, the offer at Casa Brandariz, although good value in terms of the accommodation, was considerably overpriced in terms of add-ons. Oh, and if you stay, best of luck negotiating the peculiarities of the serve yourself breakfast. The big round cheese is amazing though.
- James (10/5): Exceptional - It is a very atmospheric hotel In a rural setting Requires a 15 minute taxi drive from the Camino
- Philip (10/5): Exceptional - Staff were fantastic, beautiful hotel, food was lovely
- Diego (8/5): Very good - Family run hotel in an country house over 500 years old with lots of character. The traditional fireplace in the entrance and the old well in the restaurant are really very nice features; the Staff was polite and helpful. Rooms were cosy and clean. Restaurant serves traditional Galician food, highly recommended, a two course menu with water and dessert included for €30. Good value. Breakfast is included with the rooms too. Nothing really.
- Mingwei (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandy (10/5): Beautiful place! Amazing staff- food was great- beautiful place to relax- would definitely come back 🙏❤️ - Absolutely beautiful place to relax- very friendly and helpful staff-
- Isabel (10/5): On the Camino. Recomended by friends. - Beautifully maintained, esthetically pleasing, calm and quiet. Quant stay away from crowds
- Josephine (9/5): A fabulous country stay. So cozy and friendly. - Everything was great nice room and very well looked after property. We were on the Camino and really enjoyed the country property. Great food too.
- Alina (10/5): Definitely worth the money! After a long flight and with a child we could rest properly. - -Amazingly comfortable beds (seriously!!!)
-Very quiet surroundings = good night sleep
-beautiful garden
-lovely breakfast with self made yoghurt and cake -
- Francisco (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tim (10/5): Other than the breakfast chaos we couldn't fault it. It is a beautiful place with lovely staff. - Good fresh fruit and yoghurt along with the usual jamon and cheese. The beautiful breakfast room is separate from the even more splendid dining room and is a little small. If there are more than ten people in it gets a bit chaotic.
- Alfredo (10/5): Preciosa casona gallega - La casa es impresionante. Atención esmerada.
- Maria (10/5): Excellent, genuine care! The Best! - This is a beautiful quaint former farm property exquisitely converted into a hotel. For us pilgrims, it was a wonderful treat to be pampered in. Decor, room size, temperature comfort, lovely fireplace at entry area. Then we had the staff. The absolute best in our entire 800 kms on El Camino. Carmen was delightful, enthusiastic, beautiful, engaged and so eager to make things not only easy for us but homey, welcome. And we couldn’t say enough about Eduardo. He runs Casa by Brandariz with excellent knowledge and tact. But then, he also has a huge heart. on the morning of our departure there was a torrential rain with lightning, thunder and all. He arranged for our taxi to take us back to the Camino and profusely reassured us that he would be ready to come to our rescue should this be necessary wherever we were. His openness and genuine care for our safety was what made this gentleman the best host that we had in these 38 days walking the Camino. I truly hope to return some day just for R&R. Nothing.
- Jekaterina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jay (10/5): Wonderful place! - In 2 months of staying at places in Spain, I have not been in a place as nice as this. Every aspect is well thought-out, clean and very comfortable. The staff is exceptional.
- Sarah (8/5): Very good -
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional - very hospitable and kind host. dinner was delicious too! it wasn’t the property’s fault; but lots of flys
- Chantz (10/5): Good food and nice people - This was the cutest farmhouse! We had a wonderful dinner and the woman and man who seemed to run the restaurant where lovely! I hit my head on a doorway, and they gave me ice and continued checking on me through the evening! Such very very nice people with wonderful food in a beautiful setting
- DOMINIC (8/5): - Remote location. Unfortunately no-one spoke english so it was difficult to organize transport to the hotel from the camino way.
When you get there it was a pleasant stay with an excellent dinner served.
Entorno tranquilo. Comedor muy agradable. Comida casera y buena.
- Claudia (10/5): Espectacular! - The best hotel we stayed on our way to santiago.
- Hotellet ligger uden for byen.
- WILLIAM (10/5): A perfect place just off the Camino - Stayed one night whilst walking the Camino de Santiago. The staff were so friendly and the evening meal was excellent.
- Theresa (10/5): Real Local Feel! - Further from the Camino trail then we thought, but just a 12Euro taxi ride. Rooms were small, but comfortable. Food was excellent-- and main rooms had a very authentic local feel. Very glad we stayed here!
- Theresa (10/5): Wonderful place with lots of local charm! - Very authentic and local place.Rooms were small, but comfortable. Giant fireplace in the entry was stunning and a fabulous area to meet other Camino walkers. Dinner and breakfast were excellent!
- Jette (8/5): Sikke omgivelser - Fantastisk afslappende, i rolige omgivelser.
- ALDO (10/5): bella esperienza. - Ottimo salvo la distanza dal Camino
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a hidden treasure. I wish I could visit this place again.
- Mireille (10/5): Off the Camino by 10 kms... - But owner will come and get you, and drive you back to Arzua the day after! Definitely, worth the detour!
- Caroline (10/5): A real gem - I was in the middle of my camino and decided to stay somewhere special. I have to say the hospitality of Eduardo and his staff was excellent. The accommodation was really exceptional and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious, simple home cooked and made to a high standard. It is Galicia at its best!!
- rob (10/5): Overnight on the Camino. - Yeah I know pilgims are meant to stay in 10 euro Alberges but after a long day walking and the risk of rain it was good to have a night pre booked at Casa Brandariz where we warmed up by an open fire, were served delicious home cooked food and local wine, and slept soundly in a comfy bed with en suite facilities. The next morning a more than we could eat breakfast was provided. The proprieter arranged a pick up from Arzua (we phoned him when we got there) and return the next morning.
In this part of Spain little English is spoken but the staff were very helpful and we managed to understand each other.
Overall a brilliant little part of real Spain waiting to be discovered.
