Guest Reviews
- Carol (10/5): - Perfect place. Location location. Next to Model bakery. Next to wine trolley pick up. Everything is within walking distance. Very ckean. Great rooms. Easy parking.
- Scott (10/5): - Very unique! Busy area with lots going on but our little nook was quite and very comfortable.
- Tanya (10/5): - Cute little place we enjoy our stays here.
- John (10/5): - Everything was perfect
- Verified traveler (10/5): Night in a caboose - Its a don't check-in in person. You receive a text when the unique experience. We stayed in the caboose. It big enough, quiet, and nicely furnished. The bed was very comfortable with nice linens. Everything was very clean. Also, the location is great!
Note: you do not check-in in person. You receive a text when your railcar is ready, with a code to open the door and a phone # if you need assistance. As we had no problems, we found this to be very easy.
- melinda (10/5): - Cute, clean and perfect!
- aimee (10/5): - Check in went smoothly-room was clean and staff was very communicative.
- Daniel (10/5): - Great location.
- Laurie (10/5): - Great location and very clean. Great parking
- Connie (10/5): - More outside noise than was expected. We had room three, which was next to the coffee shop and activities. Started there about 5 o’clock every morning.
- Joel (8/5): - Very nice rooms. Just rooms not a real hotel experience. Check in and out are via text. However it was quick and easy. Will go back.
- Nick (10/5): - Great stay.
- Kristhel (10/5): Great unique rooms - Great location. Cozy room with enough space for us and our portable crib. Unique idea of the rail cars as room. Would definitely stay here again. Walking distance to great restaurants. If you are a light sleeper you might hear the hot air balloons being filled and lifted at around 530-6 am. Very cool to look at though!
- Marta (6/5): - Trying to fly hot air balloon ran in the back of the property made it very noisy at 4:30 in the morning, which is ridiculous
- Christine (10/5): - I liked the nice clean room and bathroom. The a/c in the room was noisy though. Within easy walking distance to many restaurants and nice area to take a stroll outside.
- Debby (10/5): - The walkablity to dining, shopping and wine tasting. The room was clean and comfortable.
- Carol (8/5): - Picturesque, spacious very clean
- Kelly (10/5): - Property was very clean abd the room was huge.Bed very comfortable. Great location with everything you need within walkkng distance.
- Robert (10/5): - Utterly charming accommodations and a very comfortable bed. Surprise and delight with the hot air balloons taking off from the lot next door. A perfect placed to enjoy Napa!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very well placed quaint hotel in the heart of Yountville. The train car rooms are authentic and cosy. We saw hot air balloons being filled and flown away early in the morning from the carpark near the hotel!
- Rob (10/5): - This place is adorable! The rail cars are clean and comfortable and roomier than l thought they would be. The location is ideal, literally just steps away from downtown Yountville. Truly a gem!
- Alexa (10/5): - Loved our stay!
- Keith (10/5): Location, location, location! - Napa Valley Railway Inn is in the heart of Yountville, a very short walk from some of the finest restaurants in Northern CA. Clean, comfortable, quaint rooms in converted rail cars.
- Mary (10/5): - We have stayed many times…always enjoyed our visit.
- Andrew (10/5): - This property is an excellent choice within walking distance of everything in Yountville, which is an Adult Disneyland of Eating and Drinking Options. It is amazingly quiet and the room is set-up very nicely for a couple to stay.
- Thomas (10/5): - inventive and attractive use of space. great bakery on the premises!
- Kathleen (10/5): - Texting accessibility - good!
- Patricia (10/5): - Perfectly located. Clean. Comfy bed. Plenty of towels. Great patio.
- Naomi (10/5): - The room was definitely a pleasant surprise for my sister and I who were only there for one night. The room was very large because each room is a whole train car. The skylights kept the rooms nice and light. It is also right next door to Mini Model so having the yummy sausage breakfast sandwich so close by was a bonus!
- Alexandra (10/5): - A gem of a property. We loved our stay! Perfect location for exploring wineries and enjoying good food. Cozy, clean, very comfortable beds and helpful staff.
- Harriet (2/5): - The WiFi did not work. You would connect and it would drop. You could not stay connected. One of my traveling companions had some emergency work stuff come up on our trip and he couldn’t work from here. The owners response was “I’ve never had that complaint in 25 years”. My response is , this is 2023 where people expect a usable WiFi. Maybe the problem is she has a 1998 WiFi? Nevertheless, upgrade your WiFi and when a customer has an isssue the proper answer is “let me call my WiFi provider or my it guy”. The answer should not be that it works for everyone else so it must be you. The response was not what you expect when you are in one of the most luxiourious towns ever. It was bad customer service.
- Erica (10/5): Five Stars - We stay at the Inn every time we come to Napa. We love it! We walk to our favorite restaurants, the lodging is unique, very comfortable, very clean and very quiet. It’s really the best deal in town.
- Heidi (10/5): A fantastic stay in Yountville - This is our second stay at the Napa Valley Railway Inn, and I'm sure it won't be our last. It's just a lovely property, centrally located within walking distance of all the restaurants and shops, with free parking and an adorable coffee / pastry bakery located in the end of the inn where you can grab breakfast. We've had outstanding service from them both times and can't recommend this place enough!
- Faye (10/5): Amazing stay!! - It was amazing! It was clean, comfortable, housekeeping and maintenance crew were incredible and friendly! The hotel even overnighted my cell phone to me using FedEx as I accidentally left it behind!!
- Chris (8/5): - Location and ease of check in where great. Would like robes in room.
- Robert (10/5): - Convenient to everything Yountville !
- Courtney (10/5): - Very unique property in a perfect location.
- Jaime (10/5): - Location location location. This place is excellent!!!! Will be back and will stay here. Unique, clean and located in the perfect spot. Walking distance from everything.
- Marianne (10/5): - Great - nice bed - plenty of room - nice bathroom - loved the big window with view - close to everything in Yountville - very unique place to stay🤗
- Jessica (10/5): - We stayed one night in downtown Yountville and was super convenient to the restaurants/bakeries we had planned. There's a little Model bakery at the end of the railway so super convenient to grab and go.
- jeff (8/5): - Really unique and cool lodging in a great location…
- Karen (10/5): - Cute room and fun watching the balloons take off in the morning. Great location too
- Heidi (10/5): A delightful stay in Yountville! - This is a gem of a find in Yountville! The hotel is incredibly charming, and the location cannot be beat. We walked to meals and around the beautiful little town right from our room. Unfortunately we were there on a Wednesday when the breakfast cafe in the last railway car was closed, but that’s just incentive to come back another time to try it out! This will definitely be a repeat stay property for us.
- Richard (10/5): - this is a great place. We enjoyed the unique surroundings.
- DAVID (10/5): A unique & lovely experience. - A very unique experience. We loved our "railway car" and you can't beat the location. Plus, the coffee and breakfast place opens at 6:30am and is literally at the end of the hallway - so convenient for us early risers. I would recommend this inn to everyone especially if you compare the rates with other hotels in Yountville.
- Thomas (10/5): - Great place to stay in Yountville
- Cecilia (10/5): Fun room - Small comfortable little room right in the middle of everything wanted in Yountville
- Teresa (10/5): 👍👍 Two thumbs up! - Perfect location, walking distance to great restaurants, tasting rooms and stores but the best was the railroad car accommodations and the covered outdoor area for sitting. Highly recommend the Railroad Inn!
- Colleen (10/5): - Our stay at The Napa Valley Railway Inn was a delightful experience.
- Ryan (10/5): - Very unique and memorable stay aboard the railcar!
- LuAnn (10/5): - Loved the uniqueness and the atmosphere. Outdoor seating area was great too. Perfect that the lights were on for us.
- Jamie (8/5): Great location - This location is perfect for walking the town ... restaurants etc.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Exactly as advertised! We stayed in the "Caboose," which was bright and confortable as well as cute.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We enjoyed it all....great location, comfortable rooms, great quality sleep
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location was outstanding and rooms were nice. Only issue was we had ants. All in all a good stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Easy free parking. Comfortable bed. Nice shower. Close to good eats in Yountville.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location was great! The rail cars were quaint.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved the genuine caboose theme (I am a rail fan). Very clean, nicely appointed, quiet, and close to many great amenities. Very unique. Many thanks!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Super cute experience—dreamy. Sound proofing could have been better.
- Johanna (10/5): Pleasant Train stay that location remains Charming - Nice setting and great location to walk to shops restaurants and cafes
- Verified traveler (10/5): Quaint luxury - What an amazing find! A very comfortable and quaint elegant Inn. Our room was large with a dividing second room. The beds were amazing and the sheets/pillows divine. A delightful sitting area and bakery/coffee spot right outside of our room was the icing on the cake!
- John (10/5): A simple whistle stop in the heart of Yountville - Simple but clean accommodations. Affordable. Walking distance to amazing food and wine! Parking.
- Michael (10/5): Cute, convenient, and totally unique - Great communication from owner about no-contact check in. Excellent location, really unique hotel. This hotel benefits from a lot of TLC.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Easy self check in. Very nice bathroom. Beds were so comfortable and exactly as described.
- DebM (10/5): - Well it was a railway car so there is that! Adorable and comfy
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location was perfect - right in the middle of downtown Yountville. Easy walk to dinner every night!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I was impressed it’s the bed and the upgrades they have done to the property.
- Brian (8/5): - Spacious room in the heart of Yountville. Super affordable considering typical YV prices. Dealt with the "front desk" by text only which worked great, code for door. Bed was very comfortable, a good night stay for sure.
- Laura (8/5): Choochoo - Great location. Comfy room converted from an old rail cart.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Charming and comfortable - We had a great stay! It was a very comfortable room and the hotel is very unique, with a great location in downtown Yountville. Only thing is, Guests should be aware that not every single room is a converted train car. In fact I think our room was the only one which isn’t. It was a minor disappointment, but the entire hotel still has a very cool atmosphere in vibe just outside the door, even for those guests to stay in the room which is not a train car.
- Victor (8/5): - Very clean and great location
Good clean bathroom with everything you need to be comfortable.
- Ricardo (8/5): - Train cars rooms were better than expected! Only problem was the cleaning lady knocking on our door at 10:30 to remind us what time it was when I was taking a shower. At least wait till 11am!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved our night at these charming railroad cars. It was very comfortable and quiet. A nice extra was the coffee shop steps away from the room.
Thank you for a nice romantic evening!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Can’t beat the location but the rooms are a little noisy.
I would stay here again.
- NICHOLAS (8/5): - Overall good room in the center of Yountville. Convenient to everything.
Air conditioning was a bit underpowered (though we did happen to stay during a particular hot day). Great choice for the price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - So unique: renovated train box car! Very quiet! Last box car was a take-out coffee/breakfast/light lunch kiosk, with what Oprah calls "the best English muffins in the world" and they sure seemed like it! Comfortable and charming stay. We loved it. The only thing which was a little creepy was never seeing a human being for check-in or check-out. All automatic. It's a safe area, but it felt strange.
- Robin (6/5): Where do you want to be? - I know that the area we were in the price of the room was to be expected, still we could of had two days on a cruse ship with all meals included.
- Sharon (8/5): - It was a great location at a reasonable rate! The only complaint was the shower tub knob broke and there was no one on site to fix it ‘
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location in Yountville. Unique experience and leaves you with money to spend on all the activities in Napa valley.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location. Clean. Check in was very easy

- Verified traveler (10/5): - staying in train cars
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, but can be noisy as the Main Street is close.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, walking distance to shop, market, Chandon & restaurants. Easy Check-In/out, only complaint was no shelf/shower caddy in shower for soap/shampo.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Super cute space. Perfection of a location and loved to make my own coffee and refrigerator too! :)
Quiet and comfy!
- dorothy (10/5): - It was amazing!!! I absolutely loved staying at this novel, completely unique hotel. It made a wonderful trip magical
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Its proximity to town and the coffee shop connected.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hard to reach
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful property. Very cute and romantic. Great location
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We have stayed here for many years, and this is the nicest the rooms (cars) have been. Quiet and comfortable. A great location.. Like the reading chairs. The early morning opening of the on site coffee shop is great, too.
Check in is now very easy. Great system.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nothing but difficulty getting a hold of someone about an early check in. It was requested when it was booked and there was no response. The day prior we called multiple times and never reached anyone. The day of, same thing. When we showed up there was a note stating "they" would be back at 11:00 am, it was noon. We had to find a maid to let us into our room - the property is great but the "front desk" staff and customer service needs improvement.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved staying in the renovated boxcars. It was a pleasant and unique experience. Nice room and comfy bed.
- JERRY (10/5): - unique set up with the RR cars. Excellent interiors and very clean.
- gardengrl (10/5): - the location was the best. Across the street from Bouchon Bakery,
which you must visit. My husband loved the english muffins at
Mini Model , attached to the rail cars.
We did balloon trip as it was right in back of us.
Loved walking up and down Washington st. Only negative was
noisy AC unit, which we turned off our second nite. Will definitely
come back again.
- Randy (8/5): Great location for a romantic getaway. - We had a great time exploring the area and loved the unique rooms.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location - Nice place to stay if you’re not looking for the amenities of a larger hotel. Clean, comfortable, and quiet. We loved the location. Within walking distance of some of the best restaurants in the Napa valley.
- Dave (10/5): - A blast from the past. Last stay was in 1985 with young children and it was great.
Room was clean and looked to have been recently renovated. Within close walking distance to great dining and shopping. Hostess was friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
- Kathryn (10/5): Love the box cars - We love this place. Cozy & comfortable.
- Lisa (10/5): A fabulous stay! - We were left clear instructions about how to enter the rooms after reception hours. The railway carriages are large, comfortable with loads of character. Very clean and rooms serviced to a high standard every day. Right in the middle of town and strolling distance to everything in Yountville.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Bad staff - We never could make our check -in. No one was at the office, we had to stay in other hotel. Worst experience ever!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very cute hotel near major restaurants and shops. Convenient and easy to walk to several places.
