Guest Reviews
- Brian (7/5): Very worthwhile - This is an older hotel from the time that everyone holidayed in their own country
Bright interior
Spacious
Very helpful staff
Very good breakfast
Everything worked
On site bar
I believe that the reception was manned 24 hours a day It's quite a hike from the railway station
As bookings were quiet the hotel shut down for a week the day after my stay (this is Easter)
Doors had received too much paint over the years aand were hard to open

- Nicholas (7/5): - Room was OK breakfast was ok
- Andrew (6/5): Nicely located hotel with lovely staff, just needs updating - The hotel is situated in a good location and all the staff were really nice, it was clean and the bed was comfortable but still very basic which suited me just fine for an overnight stop. I think in its day this was probably a very nice hotel, it clearly needs updating and the rooms could do with decorating and carpets replacing. Not that it was a great deal for me but there were no basic bathroom shower gel or hair wash which is provided by other hotels, this may however may be reflected in the price which was reasonable. Breakfast unfortunately was not great, although a full English is on the menu I decided to have poached eggs which still contained a large part of the egg shell.
- Andrew (8/5): Well worth the money - Really nice comfy quiet stay good room this one decent shower good bed hd tv spotlessly clean cheers guys Nowt
- paul (9/5): - Simply a nice hotel. None really .

- garner (10/5): good feel welcome - very good staff feel welcome here leaning disting good place feel welcome very good staff feel welcome nice staff manger very good very helpfull
- Andrew (7/5): Cheap and cheerful - Room 40 this time not as good as the others but perfectly serviceable and clean still better than a tent Not much usual stuff curtains don't block out all the light 2 inch gap at top of door it's alright
- Kateryna (8/5): It was a good choice for one night stay. I got everything I needed and expected - The room, linen, and bathroom were clean, which is very important to me. The staff I met in the hotel were very friendly, I really felt like a guest I heard everything that was going on in neighboring rooms, but I think it is just because the building is pretty old and the walls are thin.
The bathroom in my hotel room was really small. Luckily, it didn't cause me any inconvenience.
- Chris (6/5): Ok value for money - Cheap Run down
- Annmarie (10/5): -
- Jackson (7/5): - Put in the room next to the hallway so was a bit to noisy
- Duignan (10/5): -

- Duignan (10/5): -
- Lynne (7/5): - Rooms were clean and pleasant dining room and bar . Lumpy bed, poor sound proofing so noise from neighbours room ( loud plumbing and doors banging).
- Denis (8/5): - Perfect location for Shanklin services and town centre. The bed was a little too soft and shower a little compact for my portly size.
- Olena (7/5): -
- Supipi (9/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): Little hiking retreat - Another decent couple of nights if all you want is a clean comfy bed good shower and a quiet night this is the place for you better than a tent and good value Nowt
- Arun (8/5): - Old style hotel, but good staff and customer service.
Location is excellent. Breakfast is well organised.
Overall happy experience. It's very old traditional building and carpets in few communal areas stinks.
- Ravi (5/5): Decent stay, good location, helpful staff - An excellent place in terms of location. Got the room at the last moment due to sudden changes of plans, the hotel staff was helpful and pleasing. Bathroom's door and beds (seem like makeshift), TV remote not working. But the room we stayed was a last moment resort, so, was okaish in terms of quick affordability.
- Ertac (3/5): Breakfast and staff are amazing hotel lets them down. - Both Diane and Maxine were amazing at breakfast. They made us feel very welcome and the customer service was phenomenal. The location of the hotel was good. If it wasn’t for these two ladies I think we would have not stayed. The breakfast was spot on and great value for money. When we arrived we were 9 people, 3 rooms. We did not appreciate that one of the bedrooms was filthy and hadn’t been cleaned, we were given a replacement but we should not have to open our door to our room to see the things I saw. The entire hotel is really dated, needs a complete makeover. The bedrooms have kettles with no water or are you expected to use bathroom tap water? May I suggest removing the kettles completely, removing all chip wall paper that is barely hanging on the walls. Replaster and paint the entire hotel, deep clean the carpets as the stains can be seen and general maintenance. This hotel is in a prime location and as we visit several times a year no less than 7 people each time it’s a shame as “premier inn or travel lodge” both outshine for premises.
- Rezvan (2/5): Not recommended. Really bad hotel. - Tv had Netflix and YouTube. The rooms were dirty, the furnitures were out of date, the rooms had a horrible smell, the drawers came apart, curtains were ripped, wallpaper was peeling off walls, beds were really uncomfortable. We had to pay extra for being in a room with 6 beds as a family of 4. And my sister a family of 5 were put in to 2 separate rooms in order to get more money.
- Ateeq (9/5): -
- Francesco (3/5): Not properly cleaned - The room was not properly cleaned there were air and ice cream residues Not clean properly
- Zsuzsanna (8/5): Convenient - The staff was very kind
The room was well renovated I did not like that we had to wait at our table to be served for breakfast. I would have preferred to help myself.
- Conceicao (9/5): - It was very good
- Gajendran (10/5): -
- Bhabindra (7/5): -
- catherine (7/5): Nice. I shall stay again. - Friendly warm environment. It was fine.
- Diana Ionela (5/5): - Nice staff Find dirti flor in the room
- Poonam (3/5): Not worth it :( - I was so surprised that they don't have lift and they assigned me room on the third floor with two small kids. I asked reception to change my room at ground floor but she refused that rooms are already booked, I booked the hotel few months before but didn't get help. There was no lift so it was so difficult to carry all stuff to room with 2 kids. Nobody helped us to carry the stuff upstairs. According to Money this property is big no no.
- Deborah (8/5): -
- Carl (8/5): - presented and welcoming hotel would expect from a nice area of main isle of white close to attractions. Recommend staying for the food also put on. appliance mounted in room didn't match
- Joshua (7/5): Comfortable stay - shame about the fire alarm. - Comfortable room - good location - nice breakfast. Electrical fault caused fire alarm in the early hours of the morning. Although it was dealt with well, it was quite worrying for my children.
- Roshan (10/5): -
- Shane (2/5): Maybe look arround before commiting... unless desperite. - Would keep us dry from the wheather if it rained. Beds smelt very odd.
Soap provided for cleaning your body was horrible.
Rooms need to be cleaned better due to large hair ball stuck to my friends sock while walking arround the room so we wore our trainers.
Shower area dirty.
Breakfast food quality wasnt nice at all.
We paid £70 pounds for 1 night including breakfast. Which we know is cheap and star rating was a 2 but did expect it to be alot better.
In my opinion this should be a 0.5 star hotel.
- Ian (10/5): - Nice hotel , very friendly staff . This was my second stay at the Medehamstede, and both times have been very good. Conveniently placed to explore Shanklin and beyond. The evening entertainment was always a joy to come back to after a day exploring the island, and the breakfast set up was very well organised
- graeme (10/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): - Ive stayed here quite a few times now if you want a clean quiet comfy room with a good hot shower friendly staff in a good location at a fair price this is the place for you cheers guys see you soon
- Luana (10/5): - Had a great stay here. Bonus was the entertainer in the bar area (Jules). Comfy sitting areas around hotel. Bed and pillows comfy with good hot water in shower. Staff were also excellent and very helpful.
- Ashfaq (5/5): - Value for money - you get what you pay for!
Location was good, not too far from the beach, 10-15min walk. Very basic hotel but expected. Rate it a 2 star.
- Nikul (10/5): -
- John (8/5): -
- Aleksandr (8/5): -
- Pinku Chowdhury (5/5): - Nothing Everything
- Justin (6/5): -
- Kevin (9/5): Annual Visitor. - Excellent WiFi very fast. Room was very well presented. We always stay in a ground floor room as Iam not very good with stairs.
- Volodymyr (8/5): -
- Karl Grey (7/5): Good clean, if dated hotel. Good location. Price good. Staff could have been friendlier. -
- Hotaru (7/5): - Wifi was not working in rooms, reception area only
- Leah (8/5): - The hotel is dated but the staff were friendly on arrival and during breakfast.
The room was clean, just dated. Bed a bit soft but difficult to please everyone.
Great location and a short walk to the beach.
Breakfast was adequate and the lady who served us was super helpful as we had a young child with us.
- Karina (8/5): -
- Muhammad (8/5): -
- Davies (7/5): The hotel was in a good location near the beach . The hotel staff wee very pleasant and helpful. - Breakfast and evening meals were very good. Plenty of choice for the evening meal. The two nights of entertainment were good. Ple There wasn’t a lift. There were a lot of stairs to get to our rooms.
- Ian (7/5): - Friendly staff hotel was kept clean good location would stay again Breakfast portions could be bigger
- Ruksana (8/5): Great location to stay, restaurants and local shops 5 minutes walk away and the beach - Close to the beach and local shops and restaurants near by. There was a kettle in the room provided with tea, coffee and milk. Bare in mind if you don't want to travel with heavy items you can buy the items that is needed from the high street, 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Sea view from the room was amazing. A peaceful place to stay in, and I must say that local residents living there are very friendly and everyone always greets you. The train station and bus stops are also not very far. With the room services the lady was very good in making the beds and cleaning the room for us, but had to always ask for clean towels.
The 2 rooms that I booked for was good size but no soap/handwash and shampoo was not included.
- Laksh (10/5): - It's easy to explore everywhere.& Very near to beach.foods are fantastic & also hospitality is excellent.highly recommend.
- paul (7/5): -
- Robert (8/5): -
- Darren (10/5): Nice hotel - Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good value and the rooms were in good condition. N/A
- Praveen (5/5): It was okay okay - Location Property is pretty old and breakfast timing couldn’t have been earlier
- Steve (8/5): - Great location and good value Hotel is a bit dated.
- Ramesh (10/5): I recommend this hotel for family stay. - Comfortable room near beach and own free car parking facilities I am happy with my choice of Hotel booked. In the evening I relaxed with live music at cosy bar.
- Zoe (10/5): - We have stayed here before and again got a family room for 3 nights. This one was better than the last one. We did not stay here for breakfast and went to Morrisons instead. There is limited parking at the hotel and overnight parking on the roads available. Ok if you’re off out for the day, they supply towels and a little bar of soap each. You need to supply shampoo etc. very friendly staff
- Sam (5/5): - Perfect staff and location closed to the beach and shopping centre as well as the bus stop. Lack of basic facilities for family like a small fridge for a chilled drink for kids. The price was a bit high for a 2 Star hotel. In general, everything was matched for a 2 star hotel.
- Helen (10/5): - Good location and cheap
- Emma (5/5): Great location, Clean but very dated! - Convenient location for work Lack of water!!
Poor water supply, shower actually stopped mid flow for at least a minute, making it very difficult to rinse off shampoo!!
Taps in the basin the same! Hit and miss…
Minimal parking available, had to park two streets away!
- Sarah (5/5): Clean. Cheap. Couldn't care less decor and staff. - It was clean but very tired and damaged decor. Bathroom was clean but the frixtures and fittings were old and unpleasant.
- Elsida (8/5): - Good
- Lisa (8/5): Medehampstead Hotel - Everything beds were comfy plenty of tea, coffee, milk etc shower was good beds were comfy sockets by the bed friendly staff nice bar area lovely garden with sea view outside of hotel was a little shabby compared with others around & decor inside is a little outdated but who cares after all it is only a 2🌟 hotel
Ok we did only book for the 1 night & we didnt have breakfast but we have no complaints & would definitely stay again all in all a lovely little cheap no frills hotel
Hotel was quiet inside & outside apart from the room doors banging as were heavy self closing fire doors but if you held them whilst shutting them they didn't bang just wish other ppl did the same but thats not hotels fault & was mainly the ppl in the next room leaving door to slam luckily it wasn't really early morning or really late at night z Just the USB sockets didnt work which was a shame
- Oghenetega (7/5): - Polite staff
Great breakfast
Clean room
Beautiful environment ,
Close to Shanklin Chine and the Shanklin beach so an excellent choice.
- Webster (8/5): - Staff were friendly and helpful Room was smaller than expected and so a bit cramped
- Lauren (10/5): Great budget stay in a wonderful location - The room was incredibly clean. The maid came every day to make the beds (better than we did), clean the room, and they always topped up the tea and coffee supplies, which is something normally overlooked. There was the option to have towels cleaned every day if needed. The staff on the desk were exceptionally friendly (we live in London, so not used to such friendliness anywhere) . Nothing to do with the hotel specifically. We had some guests near who allowed their child to continuously rattle our door, and some dubious smells in the hallway from their room. But in no way was this the hotels fault.
- Andrey (8/5): Decent place for reasonable price - Quite decent place for reasonable price. Didn't expect any equipment, but it had an electric kettle and it was convenient. everything was as expected
- Xintong (8/5): - Nice staff at the reception and restaurant.
- Glenn (8/5): - All the staff were excellent, polite and very helpful The room could do with a bit of updating but overall it was a pleasant stay
- Sagar (6/5): -
- neil (8/5): Good value, good location, nice place. - Good value, good location, pleasant clean comfortable room, TV, windows, shower etc all worked well. Place to park bicycles - there are a lot of potential guests on bikes these days.
- Nikhil (6/5): - Very small room
No place in bathroom for soap, shampoo etc., very small shower space
- Linda (10/5): -
- Princess (8/5): -
- graeme (10/5): -
- Vira (8/5): Good - Good location, everything was nearby, there is parking, and the room was cleaned every day. For me, the curtains and curtain rod were very strange; they are very old.
- Barry (8/5): Very happy with my stay, staff were friendly and helpful. I will be staying again. - Location, short walk to the beach with great views from the Room. Weak WIIF.
- Platten (6/5): -
- David (3/5): Very disappointed - Not much Food
