- LeeAnn (6/5): - The advertised pictures were not our experience at all. The pictures show a well lit, decorated building with a quaint, old room and furniture. There were no lights on the building, and our room looked like every other hotel room. The person at the desk was not friendly and charged an extra $100 without explaining why.

- Charlette (10/5): - The front desk clerk on my morning of checkout was fantastic! She knew how to sell me the stay and play golf passes and, when I left a bag behind, she phoned me right away to come retrieve it. Excellent service!

- Verified traveler (8/5): Good with the bad - Great location, comfortable beds and friendly staff. I do however have some “noise” issues with this hotel. I was on the 2nd floor and you can hear every single footstep from the 3rd floor room. Be sure to request a room on the 3rd floor. The room doors also slam shut (I suspect the self closing mechanism is not set to make for a softer closure) which is an issue early morning and later in the evening when you try to sleep. Otherwise no complaints

- Michael (10/5): A gem of a place! - When I booked this hotel, I was skeptical, having stayed in other Casino type places. But I was very impressed with this hotel. It was clean, the attached restaurant superb, and the room was absolutely delightful. I was expecting it to be noisy, but we never heard a peep all night. An exceptional place at a very reasonable price. My partner and I were so impressed we are going to write to the Hotel General Manager to compliment him on a great place.

We had a medical issue at home and had to cancel our second night abrubtly, and the desk person said that she would see what she could do (I booked through Expedia). My receipt showed the one night only. Very much appreciated!

Beds were too soft and there were very limited electrical outlets for charging devices. No refund given when we checked out a day early despite checking out early in the day.

- Catherine (8/5): - We booked the double standard room. Upon entering the hotel, we smelled smoke from cigarettes. Fortunately, our room was smoke free. It was clean and functional. There was no closet but rather hooks on the wall in two locations. The air conditioning worked. There was a constant low level noise from the outside. It came from the hotel’s ventilation system. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly.

Normally we get a huge discounted rate because of our encore cards....but going through Expedia they dont recognize the encore card. Will never use Expedia again.

There was something wrong with the water though, i suspect the boiler, as my shower water smelled like sulphur. Very unplesent. The lobby shares an entance wirh the casino and smelled overwhelminly like stake cigerettes. The location was central, within walking distance of downtown shops and had ample parking.

- Lisa (10/5): - I recently did a nine day road trip with my senior parents, along the Gold Rush Trail. Our 2 day stop in Quesnel, at Billy Barker hotel, was definitely a highlight. The hotel was quaint, accessible for my dad and in a walkable location to restaurants, shops, etc. We enjoyed trying our luck at the casino. Every employee we came across was very pleasant. I highly recommend this hotel and will absolutely stay there again.

A ozone machine helped some, but otherwise no housekeeping. Coffee machine stocked and nice refrigerator with a couple water bottles. Beds were comfortable. Our room was quite small. There were some very interesting antiques around.
