Guest Reviews
Rien.

- Barkdull (9/5): A wonderful place to stay that is right in the middle of the town of Sintra, would stay again. - The staff were excellent. They really tried to make sure our needs were met, and I was very impressed with their English fluency. I was not expecting to have staff so willing to be helpful. I wish I understood Portuguese better, but they communicated very well to meet our needs. The parking option was a little unclear from the information prior to arrival, but the staff worked hard to make sure that we were able to find the parking. It would be helpful to understand that there is no parking on site. They have parking that's a good 10 min walk away and down a big hill, so hiking back to the hotel from the parking is not for the faint of heart. The room was a bit small, but consistent with pricing and my limited experience in Europe. Bed was ok. Not painful, but not the best I've slept in. Breakfast was excellent, very well stocked with good food options. As mentioned above, parking is remote from the hotel. It would be nice to have that be explicit and clear in the hotel description, ie. there is public parking in the area, but it has to be reset every 24 hours. "Hotel" parking is 12 euros a day, is secure, but is distant from the hotel, and down a sharp incline, requiring a 15+ min hike up a steep incline.
- Mark (10/5): Great stay in Sintra - Pedro made our stay rememberable. He went out of his way to make sure our stay great. He helped us out getting parking and made sure we knew how to get to it.
- Nadine (10/5): -

- Gerd R. (8/5): Schönes kleines Hotel mitten in Sintra. - Zentrale Lage in Sintra.
- Margaret (10/5): Lovely experience! - Very nice room, great location, very friendly and helpful staff. The shower didn’t have a rubber mat and was very slippery. Other than that it was great!
- Jose (10/5): -
- Gloria (10/5): Well appointed room, wonderful staff, lovely breakfast, excellent location. - Kind & welcoming staff, lovely accommodations, great location. No complaints
- Patrícia-Oliveira (8/5): -
- sharleneg (10/5): The perfect location and experience for Sintra - We stayed 5 nights at the Sintra Boutique and enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect and very walkable to many shops and restaurants. The staff arranged our ride to and from the Lisbon airport and were very receptive to other requests. The hotel is not on the 5 star level, but it provides a different experience and feeling than the "typical" high rise hotel. It is in Sintra, a cute little town that is wonderfully different than most other little towns.
- Dardar (7/5): Very noisy with buses of tourists running everywhere in every direction. Driving and parking was very challenging. -
- Philipp (10/5): -
- Kicki (10/5): -
- Richard (6/5): Exceptional service and location. - Great location, exceptionally friendly staff. Loved Ella. Mattress needed replacing. Both sides had lost support and were valleys with a hill in the middle. Not a fan of the push button system to enter the room. Hard to use.
- Prabhati (9/5): The rooms are spacious ,the location is excellent. Ana Pinto was very helpful . - The breakfast was good and the staff was very helpful 👍
- Linda (10/5): Stellar boutique hotel with lovely rooms and wonderful service - The location was 10/10 - such a superb point from which to explore Sintra! Room and bath were spotless and well furnished with good lighting. Front desk staff were terrific: so helpful! Nespresso in room was a great touch, and breakfast was varied and tasty. The only quibble - and it is very minor!! - is that it would have been useful to have an outlet to charge devices; I had to unplug a lamp to free an outlet so I could charge phone etc.
- Rigney (7/5): - Emily, the concierge, was very caring and helpful. Access to the parking lot was complicated and should have been communicated at the time of booking.
- Karen (8/5): A lovely hotel in a great location. - Excellent location, helpful reception staff, clean, modern interior - I found it great that on the first day the receptionist got a jug of fresh milk for making my tea in the bedroom. They also explained what we could do despite the main attractions being closed.
Good breakfast apart from the fresh fruit offering only being okay.
Good coffee and tea in the room. We had three breakfasts there and the person who was in charge of the first breakfast was polite but not at all welcoming and made us feel uncomfortable.
At the second breakfast the person was probably fairly young but she was very welcoming and helpful.
The third breakfast had someone who appeared to be very experienced but again was polite but not particularly welcoming or attentive to us.
In the bedroom, there were not enough places to hang our towels easily, especially so they could air out.
My husband found it a bit noisy having a room so close to the road - I thought it was fine as long as the windows were shut which we did anyway because of the air conditioning.
- Clara (8/5): Agradável - Pequeno almoço continental dentro do habitual
Localização excelente O restaurante não serve jantares nesta época do ano
- Chih yun (10/5): - Wonderful Nothing
- Victoria (8/5): Beautiful location and views - Great location near the university and a short stroll down (and hike back up!) the hill to delicious restaurants. The views from our room were amazing! The welcome drink and breakfast delivered to the room were great. There was some noise from revellers/party goers on the weekend nights, so if you are a light sleeper, this might not work for you.
And: the toilet was set in the room with a door that didn't reach the ceiling - if bathroom privacy is essential for your trip, please take note.
Finally, as noted on the website, there is no lift in this property. Not an issue for us, but if you were less mobile or had heavy luggage this could be important.
- RKScarr (10/5): Top notch hotel with excellent staff. - We stayed at the Sintra Boutique for ten nights, using it as a launch pad for exploring the region. Whilst the location was perfect and the breakfasts fabulous, it is the staff who work there that impressed me the most. Apart from being very friendly and hugely welcoming, the assistance they gave us in everything we requested, whether it be quizzing them on train timetables or helping us to negotiate the Benfica website so we could buy tickets for a match, was absolutely top notch. I can not praise them highly enough. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone, whether it be for a short city break or a longer stay.
- Rohit (10/5): -
- Paulo (6/5): - Excelente localização Pequeno almoço pouco variado e funcionários pouco disponíveis. Sem bar a funcionar ou outra atracção
- Inna (9/5): - Breakfast, room , location
- Denise (8/5): Sintra was a beautiful visit and we lived staing at the Sintra Boutique Hotel . The location was great, the service was - We loved the staff! They were so kind and helpful…10 Stars! It was a great property. We only had one issue on our check out day..no hot water so no showers before our long travel day. The staff were great, we would have missed breakfast but they held it for us which was great.
- Yuliya (10/5): Highly recommend - Very accommodating stuff: gave us very good recommendations on restaurants and how to best get around Sintra. Also the breakfast was superb. Location is very central and close to everything. Rooms are very nice Parking is on the next street. A bit of a hassle to get around with luggage

- Elizabeth (10/5): Best location in magical Sintra! - Location, location, location! Quaint hotel around the corner to all the shops and restaurants of historic Sintra, yet quiet enough on a side street for a good nights sleep. Comfortable room, decent breakfast, and amazing customer service. Thank you Ella for the great conversations and all the helpful suggestions! You made our trip that much more memorable!! N/a

- William (10/5): -
- Rachel (10/5): Would definitely stay again. - The hotel staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. The room was spacious and very well equiped and comfortable. Walking distance to the village and lots of good restaurants, as well as many sites. The area was a bit congested and difficult to get an Uber in the afternoon due to the traffic.
- Denise (10/5): - Location was great. Parking was challenging.
- Karen (10/5): -
- Ana Milena (10/5): Excelente experience - Breakfast was excellent and location. Also staff was very friendly Everything, location, clean and breakfast
- Tyson (9/5): Beautiful hotel in the heart of the old town. Easy access to Sintra's historical sites. - Very friendly and helpful staff. Rafaela at the front desk was very friendly, exceptionally helpful, and spoke perfect English. Parking is a bit of a challenge given the one-way streets. But the hotel gave us excellent directions.
- YingYing (9/5): -
- Julien (8/5): - La literie, l'emplacement, le petit déjeuner. Pas de service de restauration le soir.
- Rob (9/5): First class - Excellent location, extremely helpful staff, particularly the young lady on reception. The breakfast was outstanding, I’d love the chef’s recipe for scrambled eggs and his croissants are the best.
- GUSTAVO DAVID (8/5): - Buena ubicacion y muy comodo estacionamiento
- Nan (10/5): - Wonderful location with easy access to the buses and major site. Helpful and efficient staff. Delicious breakfast!
- Miranda Ito (10/5): -
- Sandra (10/5): Super!
- Barrie (9/5): A magical relaxed area - enjoy the Portugal of the Royals - One of the best located hotels in Sintra from which to visit all the sights / palaces in the area. Not so convenient if you are coming to Sintra by car although this is not recommended. Sintra is not a car town. Narrow streets, long one way system.
The breakfast at this hotel is very good and will match that of any other 4/ 5 Star hotel in the area. Staff are outstanding and provide an excellent service. Particular mention to Raphaela who not only makes you very welcome but sets up everything you need to enjoy Sintra - arranging entry tickets, restaurant recommendations etc. Only slight drawback is the hotel does not offer an evening restaurant, that said Sintra is full of interesting and authentic eating places for evening meal.
- nicoler (10/5): Thubs Up for Sintra Boutique Hotel and Ella - We just enjoyed a quick stay at the Sintra Boutique Hotel and found the location to be perfect for our trip. This location is very centrally located in the heart of the town yet it is not a noisy location at all.
We were greeted by Rafaela (Ella) and she helped us plan our day of sightseeing in Sintra and made us feel very welcome. Rafaela, fortunately for us, speaks English very well and she has a very welcoming way about her. Thank you!
Weinig extra faciliteiten.
- Ashley (10/5): - Great hotel in Sintra. Very convenient location, quiet at night, comfortable and clean room. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was decent.
- Andreas (9/5): - Sehr komfortabeles Zimmer, Personal super freundlich.
- Lilia (6/5): - Hotel is listed as having onsite parking, which it doesn’t, except for checking in and out, with a pass for a nearby garage (5-10 min walk downhill to get there and uphill to get back). Staff shared they’ve tried to update the listing but Expedia is failing to update.
Highlights:
Super attentive and lovely staff, provided suggestions and tips for local activities and restaurants, and pointed to street parking close to the hotel (we were fortunate to arrive in the evening when there was space).
Handwritten note to welcome us, and chocolates left by housekeeping.
Free water provided daily.
Breakfast included is great, especially freshly made orange juice and delicious fruit.
Great location in town center, short walk to Quinta de Regaleira, shops and good restaurants.
Double glazed windows offered a quiet room, and the view from the room was beautiful, particularly at sunrise and sunset.
Not so great:
Mattresses were awful, and pillows just ok. We woke up sore both nights.
Breakfast space is small and gets very crowded.
There was some sort of rusty gunk in the panel to flush the toilet, quite off putting.
Shampoo and conditioner bottles were almost empty.
Carpets are dated, stained, and the room had a funky smell.
On balance, quite expensive for what it offers - €250 per night.
- Z2126VBjudithl (10/5): Not a Boutique hotel but clean, comfortable and functional - Great hotel in a super position overlooking the Palacio Nacional and near Quinta da Regaleira and the bus stop and centre. It is not a boutique hotel and is misnamed which is a shame as some guests will be disappointed it is not. It is more akin to a UK Travel Inn. It is clean, functional and comfortable but there are no frills. It is 'modern' in a retro 1970s way. The breakfast room is like a cafeteria but plenty of food - pastries, fruit, ham, cheese and hot food. Staff are friendly and we had a lovely welcome note from them when we arrived. Good value for central Sintra.
- Tracey (9/5): Lovely boutique hotel with beautiful view over Palace and gardens.Great location. -
- richard (8/5): Excellent help from staff and very clean - Position and cleanliness Only single beds available that day
- Florianna (10/5): -
- Sophia (10/5): highly recommended stay in Sintra - We arrived at the hotel quite late. From the reception staff to the kitchen team, everyone was exceptionally kind and helpful. The hotel’s location was excellent, the cleanliness was of a very high standard, and the room was spacious and comfortable. Overall, our stay was very pleasant, and I highly recommend this hotel. Arriving late at the hotel was a bit challenging. We missed the turn to the hotel, which required an extra 30-minute drive to get back. Bringing the luggage into the hotel was also a bit tricky since the parking is not directly next to the building. Other than that, everything was excellent.
- Sonia (8/5): -
- Jacqueline (8/5): -
Extrem freundliches Personal. Ein Hotel mit Stil. Super Lage. Ganz tolles Frühstück 100 % Weiterempfehlung. Da gibt es nichts.
- Bertrand (8/5): -
Niets
- Caren (9/5): Great location and helpful, friendly staff - Fantastic location! Nothing
- Kimberly (8/5): Perfect location! - My friends and I enjoyed two nights at this adorable hotel in the most perfect location in central Sintra. Do yourself a favor and skip the day trip from Lisbon and stay at this hotel so that you can enjoy town without the in and out traffic. Rafaella and her staff were most accommodating and friendly. With the exception of an unplanned water disruption (no fault of the hotel)we could not have enjoyed the hotel more. There are nice touches with breakfast and later cocktails. The rooms were very clean and well-appointed. I wish had more time to stay!
- Mary (8/5): Great location for visiting Sintra's historical sights. - Great Location in historical centre of Sintra; good waking distance to a few historical sites, restaurants, tourist shops. Near Uber, local bus pick up points. Near tourist points of interest. Good on site restaurant /breakfast. Helpful staff with good English skills Hotel rooms needed a bit of refresh; some water damage on walls, furniture corners broken.
- KarimvA (2/5): Not worth it… Overpriced and overrated… - Things went well to begin with staff being very helpful prior to our arrival but from when we got to our room, things just went downhill quick.
From the moment we entered the room we noticed a moldy smell. It wasn’t very strong and we figured chances were that other rooms had it as well and we don’t particularly like to winge and complain so we didn’t mention it and decided to make do with it.
Then when we took our first shower we noticed the pressure wasn’t great and that our shower handle holder was broken. Someone had tried to fix it by using some electrical tape on it but it didn’t work and wouldn’t hold in place. Once again, we just decided to make do with it.
The internet was also another pain point. Saying it was slow doesn’t get close to the actual experience. It worked intermittently and when it did it was the slowest speed we’d witnessed in years (I live in Thailand and have never had such a slow connection there…). We had mentioned this to the staff twice already. They said they never had issues with internet speed and that they reset our router twice but it made no improvements at all… At one point I had to urgently download a 4MB file for work and I just couldn’t. Eventually managed after 30 minutes or so…
Finally, on the morning of our departure we went to shower and found out there was no water at all. We had not been notified previously of any water cuts. When I called reception they simply informed me that the water maintenance guys had closed the water to the entire hotel for 2, 3 or 4 hours. As we were leaving for a long day of travel and as my girlfriend had just gone out running this was far from ideal and after all the other issues we had previously I figured we were entitled to some kind of compensation.
The manager was nowhere to be seen. I was just simply told that no compensation would be given despite all the issues I had just listed because it was a “government issue”. So it was simply managed as, “not my fault, not my problem”. They didn’t even try to find an alternative solution and at their level and price I would expect more.
To add insult to injury, while we were walking to the station we noticed municipal workers watering plants roadside just 100m from the hotel. So now I am even doubtful of the whole government issue they claimed and wonder whether it was maybe not a ploy on their end to avoid compensation. But I will never know as the manager was not available to speak to. Apparently had more important things to do than take care of a hotel with not water…
Very disappointing. The hotel is no worth it and overpriced for what it is. I’m certain that there are better options in Sintra.
- KARIM (1/5): Not worth it… Overpriced with plenty of issues and a team that doesn’t seem to care. Stay elsewhere in Sintra! - Only the location is good. Everything else was terrible. Things went well to begin with staff being very helpful prior to our arrival but from when we got to our room, things just went downhill quick. From the moment we entered the room we noticed a moldy smell. It wasn’t very strong and we figured chances were that other rooms had it as well and we don’t particularly like to winge and complain so we didn’t mention it and decided to make do with it. Eventually managed after 30 minutes or so… Finally, on the morning of our departure we went to shower and found out there was no water at all.
- Cecily (8/5): - Great location.
- Michaelle Joanna (10/5): - Perfect stay in Sintra, loved the location and the staff was very friendly.

- 359MaryC (10/5): Beautiful city and hotel - Lived the location-right in the heart of the city with bus transport right there. Rooms were beautiful and comfortable, parking is an issue-we wound up parking all day at the train station and taxiing or tuk tukking around.we ate at the little cafe right down the street-great people watching! Awesome breakfast too! Staff was so nice and helpful
