Guest Reviews
- Evan Hugh (2/5): - This was on a family trip after burying our mother.
We were the ONLY ones staying, yet they wouldn't give us the cabin with wi fi.
The old lock locked us out late at night and it took 30 minutes for them to help us.
When I complained, they kicked us out and called the police who had us drive away in the middle of the night with an 11 yr old.

- Andrea (8/5): - Rustic but comfortable. Perfect place
To begin our Long trail hike from the Brandon Gap.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It sounds cute...an old fashioned collection of cabins but this place is rough!
I have happily stayed in far worse places but for a small fraction of $140/night!
- Richard (6/5): - It was a place to stay quite run down. People were nice enough but the place needs some renovations.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stay at this property as it is close to the Vermont Tri Race at Branbury State Park. The owners are lovely and always accommodate a little later check out so we can go back after the race and shower.
- Katie (4/5): - It’s not that they are not making an effort. It is clear that they care about cleanliness and the pool area and flowers were well maintained. Unfortunately the cabins are out dated, and in need of upgrades. We paid extra to have a family studio with a queen and twin bed and were disappointed to arrive to a double bed and a pull out couch. The mattress literally felt like just a box spring on the bed, unbelievably uncomfortable. When I wrote to “Jenn” that we did not get the room we paid for (like the picture online) I got no response.
If the price range was more like 85 a night, I would have expected these accommodations in this condition but at 149 it was overpriced.
I will say that Jenn was kind enough to be sure we got our key even though we were late for the 8pm check in deadline. (Which I hadn’t realized until I got a text from her at 8:30 asking if we were still coming) Also the Air conditioned worked very well.
- Catherine (8/5): - We were only people there mid week so we did not see anybody other than the owner who checked us in. Overall it was a nice place and a break from a standard hotel. Breakfast is only offered on weekend, so this property should not come up if one of your sort criteria is free breakfast on you are staying on a Wednesday
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean cute studio cabin with a large comfortable king size bed, air conditioner, cable tv, fridge coffee maker and also dog friendly so we brought our two labs. Owner was super nice and wanted to ensure our stay was special and pleasant, we will definitely be back,
- Melissa (10/5): Hidden gem - Another wonderful stay! Thank you for going above and beyond for us and our friends!
- Mel (10/5): - We knew we were coming to an off-season cabin and therefore would have a quieter time than during the season! The cabin was oh so cute (I'd recommend flip flops for the shower floor) and the fireplace was awesome! Happy for the coffee, bagels, and fruit in the morning! It's definitely a do-again. Bonus: The owner gave us a map to local covered bridges, which we took advantage of seeking out! Awesome time!
- Ilona (10/5): - Beautiful scenery. Room was nice but old....this didn’t bother us. We enjoyed our stay.
- Rich (6/5): Adequate for night - The cabin was quaint. The bed was small (full size) I was a little disappointed in the condition of the bathroom it needs a lot of work. But was more than functional. Also the only heat in the cabin was a space heater. It took a while to heat the cabin but then in the middle of the night it was too hot. The staff was very friendly and informative regarding the local restaurants and was responsive to our requests
- Peter (4/5): Area of improvements - The water faucets always a dripping in shower and sink.
Also, power failure 6 times in evening.
Also needs to be updated, cracks in bathroom in tub and walls
- Jeff (8/5): - This was and still can be a diamond in the ruff. The new owners with some Maintenance and maybe some activities like a nice camp fire. Could make this a excellent place. This is a beautiful setting with mountains all around you. The air is really clean. I enjoy my stay and would stay there again. Thank-you for letting me stay at your wonderful place. I look forward to my next stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The cabins need a lot of work. They're dirty and run down. The showers were stained, half the lights didn't work, and there were quite a few bugs. We were basically here to sleep with a late check in and early check out, so we didn't get a chance to explore the property.
- Jean (4/5): - When you are booking through the Expedia web looks very decent but the reality is way too different. The cabins are very outdated, no internet, the bathroom is in a very bad shape.... and for the price which is not cheap it is very disappointing
- Schanti (10/5): Quaint and Cosy. Would def return - My son was returning to college. The owner was amazing. The cabin was very cosy. My son is 6’4” tall so he had to bend in the bathroom but he managed. The cabin was cold and we didn’t know how to turn on the heat. We were told to call if we needed help though but I didn’t. And there were extra blankets anyway. I would love to return. The yard is beautiful with grills and picnic benches. It would be nice to spend a week there.
- Sue (10/5): - The cabin we stayed in had a fireplace which was an added bonus since it was a bit chilly at night and having a winery on site was great also. The owner was extremely nice and helpful and the grounds were very well kept. Will definitely go back when I'm in the area again.
- Deb (8/5): - The room was nice with good amenities and I got the cabin with the porch so that was extra nice. The bed was very firm but with no topper so, as I am a side sleeper, I ended up with a sore hip in the morning. Everything was clean and worked. The cabin had a nice outside light, with a bug bulb, but there were no lights on the grounds so it was a bit scary at night as you could not see anything beyond the range of the porch light. As a female traveling alone, it would have been nice to have at least a couple of lights on the grounds between the cabins and the main office, as the grounds get very dark at night. There was a nice continental type breakfast of pastries and bagels offered on the weekend that was nice. I did like the full size coffee maker that allowed me to make hot water in the room, though the cups were a bit small. The grounds are well kept and the pool looked inviting but I just didn't have the time to use it. The couch was very comfortable and I loved the rooster alarm clock. It worked very well to get me up in the morning. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location and the owner Jonathan and what they are doing to rehab this beautiful and historic property. Also the decor in the officearea by his wife was lovely. We enjoyed a wine tasting upon our arrival and were extremely impressed by a number of the wines and purchased many for our own consumption and for special gifts for friends.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was nice, clean and away from the city. The lady there was very nice and informative. If I go up that way again or know of anyone going that way I will be sure to tell them about this place
- Samantha (8/5): Small and cute - It was a cute little cabin. I really enjoyed my stay and the pool was very nice. They had a lot of floatys and toys to play with. The room was very clean and the bed was pretty comfortable. It was just a little creaky at night.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not as advertised, steep price, didn't stay - We expected the cabins to be "rustic," but ours was in ill repair and kind of shabby. The worst part about the accommodations was that the bathroom had a closet sticking out into it, so you couldn't get from the toilet to the sink without squeezing between the corner of the closet and the shower (if you were thin enough) or going back through the bedroom and living room to another entrance. We had called ahead to make sure there was air conditioning since it was forecast to be quite hot, but the promised air conditioner was too tiny to cool the cabin. The mattress was only so-so and there wasn't much space in the bedroom. The other issue was that the free WiFi they advertised was only available in the main office building, and didn't reach to the cabins. The hostess was lovely, kind, and polite, but it couldn't make up for the shortcomings of the cabin. When we had looked at the cabin and decided not to stay, she refunded the following three nights' fee, but she charged me for that night per the facility's policy. I was happy to pay $150 not to stay there. I think they're doing the best they can with what they've got, but the place needs more remodeling and the price is very steep for what you get.
- Noel A (8/5): Cabins-perfect for families or romance - If you're looking for a cabin experience in mid-Vermont this place is for you. New owners are working hard to upgrade the cabins. Don't be put off by the need for external paint on the cabins; the interiors are comfortable and the beautiful bedspreads and pillows show the hard work of the new owners. Next on their agenda are the exteriors of the cabins. The "campus" is beautiful with a nice-sized pool and plenty of open greenery to relax in. New owners are very responsive to any requests and our stay was relaxing and just what Vermont is about.
- John (8/5): beautiful rustic getaway - Their new name is Autumn Mountain Winery Cabins, although the winery part is still being prepared with pending licenses, etc. Point is the place has beautiful grounds (including grapes) and a lovely swimming pool, and fun games particularly for kids. For this non-kid it was very relaxing, not perfectly quiet due to Route 7 nearby but no annoying noise.
- Eric (4/5): An Expensive Discomfort - As I was getting ready to retire for the evening, I could not shower, because there was no hot water. John came by and tripped switch, but to no avail. I did not take a shower until the following morning. I paid $174 to be able to get to my daughter's camp within 20 minutes, but I ended up being miserable. The windows were unclean, infested with cobwebs. Breakfast was just bagel with cream cheese, orange juice and coffee. For extra 20 minutes ride, I would have stayed at the holiday Inn in Rutland for $50 less, with full breakfast. For all that inconvenience, which my wife and I addressed with the owner in the morning, they could not offer us any discount. You live and learn. I will NEVER stay there again!
- Matthew (10/5): - Awesome!! So much more potential as well. Definitely recommend
- Michelle (10/5): Very cute cabins, nice local area - Very cute, rustic cabins and nice little New England feel. The new owners are still doing some upgrades from the previous owners but they have done a good job of updating the important things first. The pool was very nice and recently painted. The cabins were comfortable and quiet. The local area was nice and the cabins aren't far from lots of things to do. Its not far off the beaten path and very accessible. Even though other cabins and the road was close by, it still felt very private and quiet.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Charming, simple spot - Comfortable, easy,, simple cabin. Really nice. Only issue was the proximity of the front row cabins to the road which made for more noise than preferred. Imagine the rear cabins are better. Overall, thoroughly enjoyable. Thanks
- carl (4/5): the cabin in the woods - cabins are very dated but comfortable.they are in need of several repairs.the Wi-Fi is absolutely terrible and worked 10% of the time.you will need to bring lots of money and trek to rutland for all your food because in Brandon other than mcdonalds nothing else is worth it.urusla the keeper is very friendly and informed us about the area and we took it from there.we missed the weekend breakfast because we got up after 930am.the cabin met our needs as we were there to hike trails and drive all around Vermont.overall I rate it 2 out of 5 stars.
- CM (8/5): Cozy and Vintage - This cottage is definitely vintage but not in comfort.
Locations is perfect, it is serene and quiet, beautiful and relaxing.
Bed AND sofa bed were comfortable to sleep. AC, thankfully kept out cottages cool during our warm weekend getaway.
We did not have any real problems except if you are a person who likes to shower in the morning, the water pressure is really affected around the high traffic checking out time frame. Elsewise no complaints. And remember these are "cottages" when
The owner's are so friendly, accommodating, and pleasant.
What can actually go wrong, when your cottage is located at a winery. :-)
- Kathy (8/5): No air conditioning - was needed. - Overall good. The owner was very friendly and helpful, but we really would have like to have air-conditioning. The cabin was definitely cozy and we would stay here again.
- Mikhail (10/5): I don't understand why this place had bad reviews - When we were initially looking for a place, we saw this one and were uncertain because of a few other reviews. Perhaps they were describing the state before any renovations. Our stay was wonderful, a peaceful quaint rustic cabin, not isolated but that made moving easier. The room may have lacked a kitchenette, but the fireplace make up for it. The stay included a very nice wine tasting, with very reasonablely priced home made wine. However, while the breakfast may not have been the best, I don't understand why this place is not strongly rated in the high 4s.
If you want to stay at a bnb, this is not a bnb.
If you want a quaint rustic cabin with a very homey feel and environment, this is perfect.
We will be coming back next year.
- James (8/5): Back to the present - The owners were wonderful and we felt right at home. We were traveling with a guest from India, and it was nice to be able to share the Cabin experience that I had from my childhood with him.
- john (10/5): - stayed one night after a golf tournament. very relaxing and w got some good wine. Local restaurants and golf course were great.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Unique cabin brought back happy memories - Good experience..brought back memories of the past.. Would have loved to have our kids with us..
- peter (6/5): interesting place with little cottages - charming - charming for families and tourists. not part of a chain.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cute hotel, just not for breakfast! - While the cottage was very clean, welcoming and inviting...the beds were pretty hard and the free "breakfast" who we were really looking forward to, wasn't anything we would actually want for breakfast. We walked in to find a few hard bagels with different toppings, and some coffee...not so impressed by that. That said, the staff/owners were fantastic, and we will stay here again...just not for breakfast!
- Philip (8/5): Cosy Little Cabin - Comfortable little cottage right near Brandon VT. Easy to get to town with it's restaurants, galleries, and historic sights. Also easy striking distances to hiking, swimming, etc. Cute ducks by the pond, they had a nice camp fire one night.
- Dawn (8/5): Nice and clean vintage cottages - The owners are just fantastic people, the winery is a fun addition. The cottages are very quaint and at the foothills of the beautiful Green Mountains. The Boston Terriers who let their parents run the place are delightful. Going back for leaf watching! The nearby town of Brandon has several lovely and affordable dining establishments.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Depressing - This is a really old and dingy establishment. The cottages are desperately out of date and I felt desperate while staying there. The rooms were very clean--but smelt so strongly of cleaners it made me feel pretty sick during the night. Generally depressing. Continental breakfast was similarly limited and depressing. Nice owners, but...
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice place to stay. Cottages are a little out dated but very clean and nicely decorated. Property is very pet friendly and swimming pool was very clean! Was a little tight with 3 adults and one dog. Perfect for couples who are just looking to get away.
Staff/Owners were wonderful and very nice!!!
- Chris (8/5): Cozy Cottages, comfortable convenient! - We enjoy staying at Cozy Cottages when we are in the Brandon/Middlebury area.
The Ethan Allen cottages are clean and rustic and perfect for us with a fireplace to
relax by in the evening.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - These were vintage cottages, with modern conveniences. The owners were friendly and welcoming. We would stay there again.
- Robert (8/5): Cozy Is - Cozy Cottages is aptly named. Each cottage comes with working fireplace for those crisp Vermont nights. The vineyard runs between the neat row of cottages and wine tastings were an added plus.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quaint cottage. - Enjoyed the cottage. Did have problems with TV and wifi.
- Gloria (10/5): Would visit again! - Stayed one night -in town for a wedding. Absolutely charming. Dated- yes but comfortable, clean and wonderful service. Would absolutely stay again.
- Holli and Tim (10/5): Rustic, but very pleasant and relaxing. - We had a late check in and Ursula was very accommodating. The cottage was very cozy and clean. Beautiful gift shop, and the grapes planted around the cottages aling with the frog pond creates a wonderful atmosphere. We wished we could hace stayed longer and sampled the wine. We would stay again!
- ROBERT (10/5): Otter - Went to save 4 hr drive to race the next day in nearby Goshen. Besides the aerial assault of the evil Vermont mosquitos, all was fine... Had to leave before morning bfast, but im sure it was fine...
- Nan (10/5): Family oriented establishment - Had to call ahead to notify owners that we be checking in after the normal business hours. Owners were very accommodating and made provisions for us to go directly to our cabin.
The cabin we stayed in was rustic but it was very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. We loved the fireplace which provided supplemental heating to the heating system. It provided a nice ambiance.
We were treated to Belgian waffles in the mornings in addition to a continental breakfast....the wine tasting was a bonus!
The owners were the sweetest couple, parents of a beautiful little girl and 2 well behaved Boston Terriers. They have a passion for what they do, and love doing it. Go out of their way to make you comfortable and feel at home.
