• Kajetana (9/5): - The location is perfect for travelers that desire a remote escape, the views are magnificent and despite the remoteness there is a great restaurant nearby and Sougia is close as well with a small supermarket and more restaurant options. The rooms in Monastery estate retreat are really nice with big windows and modern interior. The staff is very nice and accomodating. We went there for a birthday and they surprised us with a wine bottle that we drank in the jacuzzi on the balcony, a perfect end to a great day. Monastery estate guesthouse rooms are quite dark.

• Michelle (10/5): - Perhaps the most beautiful place I’ve ever stayed. The views were breathtaking and location was perfect— close to Sougia and Samaria Gorge where we had a beautiful day of hiking. Very romantic for our honeymoon and the staff were beyond kind, generous, and helpful. It was a perfect stay with so much beauty that we will never forget! Highly recommended!!

We enjoyed coffee in the morning with the White mountains as our view. My wife watched as a local farmer's sheep herd mades its way down the road. We loved the traditional Cretan food at the local tavernas. The short distance to the water front village of Sougia was nice. Many restaurants to choose from. We truly enjoyed our stay!
• Kurt (8/5): Very exceptional place! Would return there any time again! - Very friendly and client focused hosts. Out in the nature place, with no other noises than from birds and wind. Hot pot or sauna are so nice at the end of an active day. Nice hike opportunities nearby. The shower in room no. 1 is a bit small (especially in comparison to the total room size).

Jacuzzi didn’t work during our stay, but the estate was only open since a few days (and it was a national holiday) so it should be fixed by the time you plan to go.
• David (10/5): A peaceful and healing retreat - I enjoyed a spacious suite with a hot tub on the terrace and a lively little cat, Piggy, who insisted on joining me for breakfast! Drinks and food are all delivered by attentive and charming staff. This a perfect, peaceful base for anyone walking the gorges and who is content to be away from busy and somewhat banal little Sougia.

• Maria (10/5): Very helpful and kind personnel. - Very helpful and kind personnel. The location was beautiful and quiet. Despite the policy prohibiting pets, visitors brought dogs onto the property, causing an inconvenience due to their barking.
• Lovisa (9/5): Peaceful and comfortable - Quiet place, beautifully located in a small village in the countryside. Good place to relax but also as a base for discovering southwest Crete. Georgia and her staff are wonderful hosts. 2 min walk to authentic tavern with good food and great view of the valley. There was nothing we didn't like! However, visitors should be aware that the parking lot is not spacious. There is room for all cars, though. Please also keep in mind that it takes approx 2 h to drive from Chania airport on small curvy roads.
• Gary (9/5): Perfect location for a tranquil getaway - We stayed in the Monastery Guesthouse (Apt R) and it was perfect for a relaxing stay. Large Room, good shower and fridge/freezer for storing the essentials. Good size hot tub for two people overlooking the Lefka Ora. The best part of this stay though was the front of house especially Chara (who came to greet us at the car) and Georgia. They are the most friendly and engaging Reception staff we have met. Take time out to chat to them (we did often during our week here), you may even be treated to some amateur Greek philosophy on people & life! Thoroughly recommend a stay here to unwind and explore the surrounding hillsides and gorges as there are some great hikes not far from the property. It is only 10 mins by car to Sougia which has some very good tavernas. Sougia maintains it's rustic charm - reminds me of Greece 35 years ago and should be commended in not succumbing to heavy mass tourism. Nothing really to complain about, maybe some additional parking as it can get crowded when the property is full. Expand the Spa facilities so that massages and sauna can be used independently.

They asked before we came what was our plan and when we sat down they already advised on the best options for us. So far, the best service I have had from any hotel/apartment. The view was incredible, the rooms are amazing (we got to see 2 of them due to an issue), really peaceful and clean. The restaurant on site is amazing and the tavern just up the road is a must. We packed are holiday full of sight seeing and the gorge walk, we wish we had one day just to completely chill at this place! Thank you so much, this will be somewhere if I have ever visit Crete again that I must come back too! We had an issue with the hot tub, and they helped in sorting this out as best as they possibly could.

The entire vibe was beyond perfect for the entirety of our five day stay. • Richard (10/5): Exceptional - We received a really warm reception from Georgia who along with Georgia no.2 made our stay so enjoyable. Our apartment with hot tub in the original part of the Retreat was amazing with views out across the white mountains...breakfast in the new building was really well done and an off site taverna just up the hill was fantastic. My wife and I travelled with our two dogs 🐕 and stayed for three nights. The Retreat is only about a ten minute drive down into Sougia with its long wide pebble beach ⛱️ with views out across the Libyan Sea....the village itself has an ATM mini market and a few traditional Cretan tavernas. On our last day we were leaving by boat and I had forgotten my WiFi device....ten minutes later Georgia had arranged for it to be delivered to the port....a really special place with special people ❤️...we loved it ! We didn't stay for longer...

• Emma (10/5): Pure relaxation in the Cretian mountains - even thought it rained throughout our stay, the rooms are really comfortable and the views from the terraces are beautiful. We were able to sit outside undercover on our private terrace and watch the rain and clouds role over the mountains. Really relaxing. The staff are also lovely and happy to help with anything you need. nothing but you should know the restaurant is outside so if it’s autumnal rainy weather as we had in October, be ready to eat the delicious meal from the restaurant in your room (it will be brought to you).
• Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Monastry Estate Gesthouse is exclusive boutique hotel located near Sougia. The hotel is situated in very quied place in small gorge surraunded by mountains. The access with car is simple. GPS recognizes this place. The hotel was created on the remnants of old monastery  and mearges with residual ruins, that brings to the complex very special attractive appearance. The rooms are spacious quied and completely equipoed. Very cleen and comfortable. The staff is perfect, provides very pleasant atmosphere in the hotel. We felt like with friends. Around the hotel many passes and trails to hike. Great, almost wild beach in Sougia. Near the hotel there is traditional taverna provided  very tasty food: meat, vegeterian and great vine. All products are local and actually organic. I enjoied every moment of my staying in the hotel. It was vacations in the Paradise.

• Miraphora (10/5): Perfect destination for complete escape, with a little luxury and the human touch. - A beautiful sanctuary in the tranquil heart of wild Cretan countryside. Exceptional and gracious service from the staff makes you feel special from the moment you arrive. Amazing views from the lovely studio apartment (we had one of the ‘older’ ones so imagine the new suites are even more special) On site restaurant served wonderful food, and a short walk behind the hotel through the abandoned village is an amazing village taverna with spectacular views (do not miss this!) Excellent location for the incredible local gorge walks. little note to the hotel - recommend more shade on the terrace and more light in the bathroom please!

• Fdp1 (10/5): A beautiful place to relax and take in the stunning surroundings. - Excellent accommodation (guesthouse) providing everything you need. We loved everything about the style of this place. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. My favourite thing about our stay were the exceptional views from our balcony and the quiet surroundings. The balcony is a good size with a nice hot tub. If you're looking for relaxation this is the place. The taverna in Moni village has delicious traditional Cretan food, definitely worth a visit. The shower could have been a bit bigger.

• NICOLAS (8/5): Nice location but guest house could be improved! - I stayed 2 nights at the Estate Retreat followed by 2 nights at the guest house. The guest house has a beautiful location just as the hotel nearby. However, few things need improvement: 1) Shower had no doors. The water would leak all over while showering and turn the bathroom in a true swimming pool. 2) Place is kind of (too) rustic for my taste. Not everyone would like it I guess. 3) Not even bottles of water were provided in the fridge. 4) A/C was a bit tired. However all these negative things were neutered by the nice and welcoming team which made my stay a good stay. If I have to come again, I'd rather stay at the Estate Retreat instead of the guest house.

The owner and staff are extremely warm and friendly, with exceptional quality food. We stayed here for our 20th wedding anniversary and would strongly recommend it for a romantic stay or as a great locationfor walking or a relaxing at The local beaches and taverners. We wish we could have stayed longer and would love to return one day!
• Mariusz (10/5): Great Hotel and Oasis of Tranquility - Great place to find a peace and relax. There are nice hiking routs and it is close a great beach in Soughlia. However, to get to the beach you need to have a car.
• Michael (10/5): Great spot - We stayed for a week. A wonderful spot and marvellous, welcoming service from Flora. Breakfast a good option. Need a car but ideal for trips to beaches and walks. Samaria Gorge is a recommended, long walk. Sougia is close with bars, beach and restaurants.

L'accueil de Marianna est chaleureux et attentif. Elle s'est montrée toujours disponible. Les nombreuses petites attentions tout au long de notre séjour ont été un vrai régal. Merci aussi à Vera.
• Mike (10/5): Small, stylish hotel in a beautiful setting - The Monastery Estate is a beautifully restored family house in the tiny village of Moni, not far from Sougia and the sea. It's an incredibly peaceful, intimate place with comfortable, quirky, stylish rooms and large patios. The view over to the White Mountains is breathtaking and there is great hiking nearby. We were extremely well looked after by Katerina and Marianne - nothing was too much trouble and they were very helpful with local suggestions. Highly recommended!
