- Nina (6/5): Under whelmed for almost $200 per night - Property is unique and has many features Lobby was closed when we arrived (6:30 PM) Had to call the resort person at home for help with WiFi issues then Tv would not connect with WiFi The next day the power went out for about two hours. It was mid day so it wasn’t dark but we had our grandchildren and they were playing games on WiFi. My husband played golf and after 9 holes as the restaurant was not open they ran to get lunch. The resort person called me then physically came to the room wanting the golf carts back. My husband said it is normal for them to grab lunch at the clubhouse while playing but it wasn’t open.

- clasvi7mmmag (2/5): `Excellent front nine but poor management - This review is late coming because I thought I had already left a review. Maybe I did and it got removed. If this review disappears , I will know. Ok, I made a tee time a week ahead of our planned golfing holiday which was the first Monday in June 2025. Not a word was said to me about the greens being scheduled for aeration. I believe this was intentional after my experience when I got there. We arrived early and noticed plugs laying all over the practice putting green from aeration. I walked over to the 9th green and saw it covered also. I went in to the proshop where the co-manager was working with a helper. The manager told me they were sending everyone off the 10th tee because the greens crew needed time to clean off the front nine. I asked if we could just play the back nine because the front greens were unplayable. He refused using the excuse that we had booked 18 holes. I told him that no one warned me they were aerating the greens when I made the appointment. He didn't care and continued to "strong arm" me into playing 18. I told him we were not playing the front under those conditions , so either allow us to play nine holes or cancel our tee time. He cancelled our tee time rather than take our 9 hole green fees ! Unbelievable ! We left there and drove 30 minutes to Sky Valley in Dillard SC. and had the exact opposite experience which I have reviewed on this site. I have played Kingwood a couple times in the past and had a great experience. This co- manager is the difference between earlier success and this more recent nightmare.

You couldn’t pay us to go to this place again! Anyone who stays there will be disappointed by the management staff! Guaranteed!!!!! The staff was never there! Operating hours are just a suggestion for the staff! They are running a business like a fraternity house! Worst 3 days ever and falsely advertised!

- H3479OSaj (4/5): Wouldn’t recommend - The property and surroundings are beautiful but unfortunately the hotel itself is very old and not old in a charming way. Calling it a “resort” is definitely a stretch, it is basically a motel that hasn’t been updated since the 1980s. The bed did look clean however the room smells of must and mold. We also had a run in with a roach. We were planning to stay here 2 nights but checked out after the first. Maybe some of the rooms are different than ours but overall would not recommend.

A nearby golfer overheard and said they only had two players and we could play with them in 30 minutes. The staffer behind the counter said "NO". We all stared wondering. He then said, "We don't have any golf carts available". His quick response was rude and beyond strange as we weren't offered any option to walk or wait or anything else. We walked out and won't be back. We'll never recommend this course to anyone.

- P38YPtoma (4/5): Kingwood: go to Sky Valley. - I’ve been to Kingwood numerous times. I own a property in KW estates. Today (9.5.2025) I used golf now to sch a round. After I finished the front 9…there was a HUGE thunderclap…the ground shook. I immediately went to the pro shop to request a coupon for the remaining 9 holes. Doug, the co-GM was at the desk. Doug said his hands were tied. I asked if he heard the thunder. He said yes. He said the radar didn’t indicate weather. I told him that KW had gotten paid….and I was concerned for my safety. He was a “no go”… I can’t give the course a fair rating. Fairness is a two way street. IMO…KW and Doug failed me. Beware. Consider Sky Valley.

I have a service animal and I was told I could only bring him if what I had was a "physical impairment". It is apparently being family operated and there was a 10 yr old young man helping to stock the bar. We had 3 rooms for the weekend and left Saturday morning. If you're truly looking for a resort with the resort vibe this is not the place for you.
- Mary Jo (1/5): - Nothing Everything. The room felt damp,the lighting was dismal. The room was not very clean, lamp on table didn't work until you plugged it in, no switch We were very disappointed and will never stay here again. We are surprised this "Resort" is able to be in business. We weren't very confident about the door being secured.Lax follow up in the event of needing assistance. Very sorry to leave a negative response but it is truthful.

- Warner (6/5): Felt ripped off. Took the joy of our lovely getaway!!!! - Grounds Old furniture, dirty grout, old tiles in the shower, Patio decking old, peeling paint afraid the use ? Safety. Old, rotten wood on walkway & handrails outdoor. Place look unkept like a cheap motel. Sad it had such beautiful setting but neglected

- Craig (4/5): great location nice pool everything else was poor won’t come back or recommending - the golf course was brilliant as was the swimming pool as we had it to ourselves no staff no phones working no restaurants no bar no food facilities at all turned up at 7 am for 8 am t time golf shop not open and staff did not turn up until 7:40 no urgency would not let me take a cart to collect my clubs. then computer went down so did not get off until 8:10 just no flexibility with staff !!! hotel rooms are in need of a full refurb. we were the only people in hotel some staff were staying in rooms
- clasvi7mmmag (6/5): Wonderful golf course - The golf course is wonderful. Not well manicured but, not bad either. The greens are great although much slower than our home course (Monticello). The course design and layout is one of my favorites in Georgia. We travel 2.5 hours a couple times a year just to play it. The par 3 ninth hole belongs on every golf calendar. Do not stay at this resort. The rooms are absolutely terrible. Stay at the Bridge Creek Inn 10 min. away.

- safish45 (8/5): Golf Vacation - The Golf Course was beautiful and a pleasure to play. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in perfect condition. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Would have liked to enjoy a nice glass of wine at their winery and enjoyed a relaxing dinner but that did not happen. The dinner buffet was not available. The wine tasting did not exist and the staff did not know anything about the wine they offered. The food we did have for dinner was very good but they were short staffed and too busy to offer us a second drink or salt and pepper for the table. Seemed like it was a bother having us at the restaraunt.

- Go51011971288 (8/5): All we needed. - We had a great stay at Kingwood. We’re not golfers but it was still a pleasant stay. The beds were comfortable and the room was large with a small refrigerator. Very peaceful and not far from the town. Yes it’s an older property and some areas like the spa and indoor pool can use an update, but we were there for the surroundings and it was fine for what we needed. We’d stay again.

Room was old and outdated, ice machines didn’t work, winery was closed and the pool was unusable….all the things that we had hoped to use. It was so bad, we checked out without unpacking. At least getting a refund was painless.
- Jenese (5/5): Passable - Beds were very uncomfortable. TV channels were a bare minimum. They hosted a wedding and out of the entire resort they put guests next to us who partied until 1:00-2:00 am on their balcony. There were plenty of other available rooms that were not occupied.
- Gavin (10/5): Highly Recommend - The rooms weee very clean and the indoor pool was a plus unfortunately we did not get to visit the restaurant as they open on Thursday but the receptionist was very helpful in giving us a pamphlet with nearby restaurants and they were only 6 or so minutes away. The view from the balcony was outstanding! It was very peaceful and I will absolutely be going back by this summer! There was nothing I did not like about the property
- Kristi (8/5): Perfect spot for a peaceful weekend getaway! - My friend and I booked this room for a "girls getaway weekend" and it didn't disappoint! The views from the room balcony were beautiful, the beds were comfy, the room was very clean and tidy and had all the little things that my friend and I loved.... soap, shampoo/conditioner, make-up remover wipes, etc. We especially loved that there was a larger mini fridge in the room. The property was beautiful and peaceful which was exactly what we were looking for. We also booked a massage at the spa on the property and spent a few hours leading to our massage in the spa and enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub. The spa staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable, the view from the indoor pool is amazing and there is a deck outside where you could enjoy the views and sunshine if you want to, the robes..... OMG the robes were comfy enough to make it very difficult to want to get out of them, the massages were amazing and we left feeling very refreshed! We walked into the restaurant/bar area when we first arrived and it's beautiful! We were just arriving and never got to enjoy either unfortunately but I plan on coming back with my husband and we will definitely be trying both out. Location is PERFECT! Tucked away and peaceful but only 6 minutes to the downtown area/shopping/restaurants. This was not my first trip to Clayton GA, but was my first stay at this location and won't be my last. We really were happy with everything about the room and property BUT if I had to pick anything that could have been a bit better, it would be at the indoor pool at the spa. The pool had one of the drain covers loose on the floor of the pool leaving the hole for the drain exposed when I accidently stepped on the cover (I actually meant to mention it but completely let it slip my mind until now, but I'm sure they would have fixed it immediately). I also hated that the restaurant was closed for a private event on one of the days we were there, but I completely understand why and it wasn't an issue.

- Pam (2/5): - Dear staff Me and my boyfriend had a recent stay to celebrate belated Valentines and our first romantic weekend together (Feb 22nd -23). Unfortunately after checking in, we backed up hitting a very large decorative rock located in your parking lot ! Obviously others had hit it too since it had a small cone next to it, which wasnt seen in back up camera until its too late. Its doubly painful because my boyfriend had just gotten this car a month ago. We also had noisy kids next to us in the room and with such a thin door between the rooms it felt like they were in the room with us. Needless to say it was not the romantic get away we were hoping for. Please take care of this rock to prevent further issues to other unexpected guest. Pam Cammisa

- martindZ1147WL (2/5): Kingwood "Resort" - bad experience - My wife and I bought a few boxes of chocolate from a chocolatier in nearby Clayton, Georgia. Placed the boxes on the nightstand next to the bed and went to sleep. In the middle of the night we woke up and the bed and nightstand were covered in ants. I notified the front desk in the morning and was told that "they spray monthly" and "we're in the mountains." I travel a lot and stay in hotels everywhere and have never experienced this. This may have been a "resort" in 1965... Rundown rooms, unfriendly front desk staff, etc. I strongly advise not staying there.

- Insu (2/5): - This is the worst hotel we’ve stayed at in over 20 years. The sliding door to the bathroom was faulty, and the bathtub didn’t drain properly. The overall quality of the bathroom was subpar, and the bed sheets had an unpleasant odor. The hotel is outdated and in need of significant improvements.
