Guest Reviews
- Kimberlee (10/5): - The property was clean, the staff friendly and polite the breakfast was good. The property needs some renovation.
- Sebastian (10/5): Go to Hibiscus lodge if your looking for a quiet peaceful stay which is right next door to everything you could possibly - Location well sort after, was central to all local amenities, but in a quiet location! It has stunning views of the ocean and felt like you were right on the beach front. There was no sand!!! But for what you got in return it was extremely worthwhile.
- Luckeshea (7/5): Quiet & peaceful. - Breakfast was excellent. 👍🏽 up to the female that served us I don't remember her name but she was great. We loved the view.
- Janine (8/5): I had a wonderful time in a quaint hotel. - I admired it's seclusion, room view and food. The staff members were very courteous and helpful. I was happy to get the chance to go kayaking in the ocean. I wished I had booked a longer stay.

- Maria (7/5): - the place is honestly incredible in terms of location. The views are breathtaking, almost like a postcard scenery. The hotel is beautifully positioned, and the small beach below, kind of tucked into a cliff, feels very exclusive and special.
That said, I feel the hotel is starting to decay. You can see there is a lack of proper maintenance and overall management is not keeping up with the potential of the place. It feels like it’s getting old, which is a shame because with some upgrades and care, this could easily become one of the best luxury boutique hotels in Ocho Rios.
The restaurant food was excellent, really high quality. However, the service from one of the waitresses was not good. I felt uncomfortable asking for things, like I was being told off or doing something wrong.
Overall, this place has amazing potential because of its location and views, but it really needs better maintenance and stronger management to match that level. The rooms also need improvement. Especially the ones on the top floor, the noise insulation is very poor. You can hear everything from the rooms next door. At one point, I could clearly hear people talking, then later very private moments, and on the other side, guests playing music late at night. I had to go to reception around midnight to ask for a room change. The staff at reception were very kind and helpful, and they moved us even at that late hour. Unfortunately, the new room also had noisy neighbors. I think the hotel should set clearer expectations for guests about respecting others, especially during sleeping hours.
- Crystalee (9/5): And all around amazing experience in a location that is very central - The property was beautiful and the food was tasty and I really enjoyed the live music at breakfast that was an added touch that brought joy to our mini vacation There wasn’t much that I didn’t like at all, maybe the fact that the beach wasn’t something accessible if you weren’t a swimmer
- Robinson (9/5): -
- Amanda (7/5): Amazing views! - Great vintage feel, amazing views, walking distance to shopping. Breakfast was delicious It's a little tired looking in places
- Diana (8/5): -
- Tahera (7/5): Comfortable and quiet - The shower doors had white scale on them, there are exposed wires in the bathroom and the TV box was just hanging from the TV.
- Ana Carolina (7/5): Bela vista! O staff nao é amigável, porem o dono do hotel sim.
- Shernette (9/5): -
- SANTANA (9/5): Overall, my stay was good; the view was wonderful, and breakfast was filling. - The view and the property were beautiful, and the staff was welcoming and friendly. The room was okay, but I wish I had gotten a queen-size bed. The breakfast was great. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I was disappointed by the lack of a microwave in my room. I had to discard my food because the staff refused to heat it, citing a policy that only food purchased on the property could be heated. This felt unfair, as it led to wasted money and food. Other guests confirmed that they also lacked microwaves in their rooms. Additionally, the pool was dirty for most of our stay. It was only on the last day that they began treating it, effectively closing it for the duration of our visit.
- Sanecia (10/5): -
- Aneita (9/5): - Loved staying here, the facility was clean, very courteous staff and great location.
. Le restaurant je recommande !! Établissement très bien situé. Le personnel féminin au petit déjeuner t. Attitude désagréable !
- Hans-Michael (10/5): - Top Lage …… sehr sicher …..
- Ignacio (8/5): -
- Cleon (6/5): It’s was just Ight - This property say it come with breakfast but only one. U have to pay for the next Room was small an I requested a king bed didn’t get it..
- Odaine (9/5): -
- Jeanette (9/5): Paar Tage in Ocho Rios - Wir hatten ein Terrassen Zimmer mit Poolblick. Die Aussicht auf das Meer war großartig.
Das Frühstück war super!
Das Hotel hat einen schön angelegten Garten.
- Adriana (8/5): -
- 683carolee (10/5): FIRST CLASS ALL THE WAY!! - Omigod. I can’t say enough about this dreamy little slice of paradise! The incredible tropical views on the property will take your breath away and the food and personal service are first rate and superior even to the world-renowned and overpriced Jamaica Inn down the road. I fell in love with this charming resort in 2022 and loved it so much that I returned again on 2025 and would’ve gone back in 2023 and 2024 too if my flights had not been cancelled both times at the last minute due to bad weather. So grateful that Hurricane Melissa inflicted only very minor damage to this high class and achingly beautiful little resort. I was soooo worried!
Don’t come to Hibiscus Lodge though if you don’t like being treated like royalty or if you love waiting forever for your room to be ready and love standing in buffet lines for meals at the all-inclusive resorts. You won’t get the typical loud and predictable nightly entertainment here either, but you will get an unforgettable performance by a wonderfully gifted singer at breakfast on Sunday mornings and the best daily two-course breakfasts you could possibly imagine, which are included in your booking. Their Western bacon and cheese omelettes are to die for and I never wanted to leave the breakfast table because I just wanted to sit there as long as possible at breakfast and soak in the glorious views of the ocean and sky! Luckily, the amazing servers at breakfast were always very gracious and patient with me and allowed me a third cup of coffee every morning just so that I could relax and sit there and enjoy that magnificent multi-million dollar view for as long as possible.
Even though Hibiscus Lodge lacks a true beach, you won’t miss it because there are plenty of loungers in the pool and jacuzzi areas, and even more loungers down in the little area that they affectionately call “The Beach,” which is a manmade sandy terrace area just adjacent to the steps leading down into the ocean. They even have a shower there which is nestled up against the rocks so that you can rinse off the salt water after snorkeling with all the pretty fishies. The resort is situated on a cliff, so you will get your daily exercise walking up and down the steps leading from the resort down to the sandy sunbathing “beach” area by the entrance to the sea. And if you make a left at the entrance to the resort, you can take a five-minute walk up to Mahogany Beach, where there is a real beach area and a park too with picnic benches, as well as offerings of various souvenirs and merchandise for sale. There is a $5.00 fee for entrance to the beach, but if you’re just taking a walk to stretch your legs, they won’t make you pay.
The serving staff at Hibiscus is on the ball at every meal, and they are always ready to ask the chef to prepare whatever your heart desires. I highly recommend the Fish and Chips and the Hibiscus Burger and fries, as well as the Jerk Chicken Wrap, which was my absolute favorite early dinner meal. The food is superb and well worth waiting for. They even made my favorite Western omelette for me before their restaurant even opened up one morning in order to accommodate my early morning departure, and they packed it up for me to eat on the shuttle back to the airport! They also made all the arrangements for my shuttle pick-up! If that isn’t top-notch personal service, then I don’t know what is!
Hibiscus Lodge has such a magical ambience, and I love the casual island vibe overall and the elegant feel of a very friendly but formal breakfast service that doesn’t require formal dress. And be sure to say hi to Tony, the charming owner. He’s so welcoming and always smiling and scurrying around the property. He’s got tons of personality and energy, and I urge you not to hesitate to approach him with even your smallest problem or comment. You will recognize Tony right away because his energy and smiles are infectious and he looks like the happiest man on earth.
Bottom line: You should only come to Hibiscus Lodge if your top priorities are beauty and peace and privacy and tranquility, personal attention, super delicious and beautifully-presented two-course complimentary breakfasts, breathtaking views, plenty of loungers for catching some rays, a fun and very satisfying daily snorkeling experience, and rooms that are each unique and genuinely charming and pretty and not the standard cookie-cutter style that is so prevalent with the all-inclusives.
Apologies for the length of this review, but I honestly have way too many good things to say about the fun and magical time that I have experienced twice now at the incomparable Hibiscus Lodge. It’s a genuine little jewel of a resort that is guaranteed to satisfy even the most discerning traveler.
- Maurizio (9/5): Sistemazione ottima - Posizione, stanza vista mare e terrazza della camera Niente
- Michelle (10/5): - Friendly staff. Central location Wish there were more sunbeds at the pool
- Paul (7/5): -
- Azizah (4/5): Nice views but not the best for a good nights sleep - Sea view was nice. Staff were friendly, jacuzzi is nice too. Good amount of sunlight in pool area. Spa staff next door were lovely . Theres a lot of noise in the area so you probably won’t be getting a good nights sleep on any day.. there’s clubs nearby playing loud music. If it’s raining you can hear the rain on the roof or the wind blow. There are ants in the room and bathroom don’t leave any sweet foods out. They are in the sink as well. Breakfast can take very long most days so plan in advance. One day I waited over an hour for my omelette as the guy forgot my order and made me re order after I sat for 40 mins.
- francesca (10/5): -
- Jennie (10/5): - Lovely comfortable hotel
Brilliant staff
Great location Nothing
- Shantelle (10/5): Amazing - Everything I didn’t dislike anything
- Courtney (9/5): Nice and quite hotel and good place to relax - Very nice hotel on the cliff edge with a nice view over the ocean and steps down to the sea for a swim.. N/A
- 714mermaidt (6/5): Average stay for average cost. - This is a lovely little hotel, which is in the middle of Ocho Rios so it is easy to get around to everything. The staff is accommodating when notified of problems, such as no water pressure or temperature control in the shower. As every place on the island, it has been affected by the hurricane and they are doing the most to accommodate you while accommodating for weather as well. The restaurant had OK food. Very similar to any other hotel restaurant. Unfortunately, the two days we were there was in the middle of a cold front in Jamaica (yes, there are cold fronts in Jamaica and evidently it is usually in February who knew.!) so we didn’t enjoy facilities like the pool or the ocean or the snorkeling as the seas were very rough the rain was consistent and it was 61°F. The area around the hotel is easy to walk through, but really unless you are grabbing something to eat there is no reason to. The food is pricey and average at best. It is a busy island working environment and quite dirty. The staff the first day were very unfriendly and the second day it was like a totally different staff, though it was the same people. Not sure if everyone was having a bad day at the same time, but you definitely did not feel welcome when you were checking in but felt welcome checking out If your intention is to stay in a place that is safe with great views this is definitely your place though a resort it is not.

- K1116ZQmariop (4/5): To improve - When built i think place was ok. Now it need urgent maintenance, wifi improvement and more friendly staff. They refused to book three days as not in row but with one day elsewhere! They said the days must be in a row so you can t go anywhere else but jailed..
- Anthony (4/5): - The hotel was renovating while we were there especially the balcony and the bathroom toilet need fixing in room 25 where I was and alot of cats around don't leave food unattended pls ants will take it up Toilet seat was shaking badly
- smith (8/5): -
- Mcferren (8/5): Peaceful stay - Free breakfast was fantastic.
- Nicole (4/5): I was very much anxious to return home - The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The facility is in need of modern renovations. The breakfast menu also needs careful adjustment. Menu is too limited, daily variation is needed
Alles in Allem sehr Gut!
- Orinthia (10/5): -
- machel (8/5): -
- Amanda (8/5): -
- Selvyn (7/5): Good value for inexpensive stay - The view was just OK, Breakfast: missed out on the local foods, since that part of the menu was at the back and was often missed. The local dishes should be seen as the menu is opened. The Room: Good, Bathroom really tight fitting, just happy to be thin. As per above
- Dante (9/5): -
- Guest (9/5): -
- Paul (7/5): Very relaxing doing the day but horrible at night because of noise. - The scenary was great. The noise level at night was horrible.
- Rolando (8/5): -
- Oscar (10/5): - Servicios y infraestructura.
- Peter (7/5): Really enjoyed location and layout of hotel - Location and style of the property A couple of the staff not helpful .
Did speak with front desk staff,
all ok after.
- Williams (10/5): Miss Williams - The staffs were very nice and helpful with any suggestions or ideas. It's a great location. Breakfast staffs was great always very nice and pleasant especially serving your meals. Make sure you're satisfied. I appreciate that. Great place. I was expecting spicy food but it's was not .and no ackee and salt fish. But I guess it is because of the past weather that hit the country. Otherwise okay.
- Kelvia (10/5): -
- Queen (10/5): -
- Queen (10/5): - The view The internet was a bit slow.
- Douglas (6/5): - I like the environment Rooms were a bit lackluster
- Kimberly (4/5): Disappointing - Location was convenient. Bartender & Porter were kind. Room view was beautiful. Toilet overflowed. Went to check in desk. Porter cleaned and was so helpful. Front desk could have cred less and offered no consolation. Basically laughed. She was very rude, said "see me tomorrow" and was not there at check out.
- Losshenee (8/5): -
- Sharpe (8/5): Overall a good stay but a few annoyances. - Centrally located, clean, friendly staff. Good food. I asked in advance for a 2 PM check in which was approved without conditions yet when I arrived at the property it wasn’t available. Why promise this if you can’t commit to it. This has never been an issue for any hotel I have stayed at.
The head of bed was not secured to the bed so each time your pillow touched it it banged against the wall and startled you.
- Henderson (8/5): -
- Shanique (5/5): - It was good. i like the food I was hoping that there was more in terms of portion size
- Otis (8/5): -
- Shantel (9/5): -
- Blair (6/5): Idyllic family getaway - Nature @ its finest Climbing too many stairs
- Walker (8/5): -
- Ashley (7/5): Overall it is a beautiful property and good value for the price. However, I do not think I would ever return. - I loved the views, it’s right on the ocean. There is an area where you can swim right out into the ocean. There are also some birds on the property and the pool is nice. The drinks were also fabulous and not overpriced. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The bed was very uncomfortable; the mattress was the hardest mattress I’ve ever slept on in my life. If you like a firm mattress you will enjoy. The safe in my room was broken. There was visible dirtiness on the shower walls. There were lots of moths in the room at night and on my last day the mosquitoes joined in too. I did not enjoy the breakfasts…
- Smith (8/5): - It was quite. The staff were very friendly and professional. The room was small but very clean. The meals were very tasty, cooked well.
- Patrice (1/5): No - It was small boutique and great price The noise at this hotel was unbearable—we were unable to sleep or rest at all. Even with the doors and windows closed, you could hear everything happening outside. There was no hot water, the Wi-Fi did not work in the room, and the beds were extremely uncomfortable.
Upon arrival, we had to wait over an hour to be checked in, despite arriving three hours after the official check-in time. The front desk was handling another guest’s issue and we were told we had to wait until they were finished. One staff member was polite, but the other was quite rude. It was only after we raised the issue that we were finally checked in.
Due to the excessive noise, lack of hot water, and no Wi-Fi, the room was completely unacceptable. We requested an immediate refund and left the property to find accommodation elsewhere. We did receive a full refund.
- Paradise (8/5): -
- Alexis (7/5): Mediocre.
- Johnoi (8/5): - The ocean view from my balcony was amazing and the breakfast was also great, Definitely recommending to my friends and families.
- Angela (5/5): - It was near to the town centre The food was not that great
- Danila (9/5): - This hotel is a gem with a wonderful position just in front of the water where you can take a wonderful dip and do snorkeling just in front of the hotel. Very nice pool and hottub. The breakfast was also very good. I will definitively stay here again. Maybe our room needs a little bit of update. But we saw the room next to us that was much nicer.
Werkten duidelijk tegen hun zin
- Cassandra (9/5): -
- Jaydah (7/5): - The room, the food tasted good The shower head, difficult to shower without getting hair wet
- Arlington (7/5): - The location was clean and the staff was very accommodating The bed in room #20 is too small for grown adults
- raymond (10/5): - I didn't like the fact that they didn't have any natural tea(bush tea)
- isobell (10/5): - My second stay at Hibiscus Lodge due to the exceptional customer service, location, atmosphere and cleanliness
- Sara (10/5): Great stay here - Staff and location amazing can’t fault it at all, would stay here again Nothing
- Marcus (7/5): Generally good - Access to the crystal clear sea, great scenic views from the rooms balcony. The breakfast was good. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower pressure was very good. In general the hotel was good. The restaurant and bar were closed, and this wasn’t disclosed at booking.
I asked at reception if I could borrow a wine opener, I was told no—the bar is closed. It wouldn’t have been difficult to go get one, especially since the advertised services weren’t available. I found the receptionist unfriendly and not welcoming. It’s a shame, because overall I like the hotel, aside from the reception experience.
- Nathan (7/5): - Waking up every morning and being able to see the sea was very beautiful and we were very grateful for that, especially when eating the delicious breakfast. It was relaxing to sit in thr jacuzzi or lounge around by the pool, it was a lovely stay. I would consider bringing earplugs when you sleep, becasue tree frogs making noises during the night and loud music from town nearby.
- Blue (8/5): Nice property overlooking the ocean for a nice getaway. - Beautiful grounds, lush greenery, beautiful plants and animals. A couple of black cats and birds add to my experience as a nature lover. The downtown area is just a few blocks away and Miss T’s restaurant nearby was awesome. This location is in the heart of many tourist attractions in the area
