- Tshiane (7/5): The rooms were excellent—clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. - The rooms were excellent—clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Unfortunately, the breakfast was a major disappointment, with very limited options (for example, yogurt was available but no muesli), which did not meet expectations.
I also had a concerning experience at check-in. I had booked in advance at a discounted rate, but upon arrival, the receptionist presented a booking under my name with a different (higher) amount and a different confirmation number. This raised concerns about a possible attempt to have me pay more than my original booking.
Overall, while the accommodation itself was great, the breakfast and check-in experience need serious improvement.

- Eunice (7/5): - The cleanliness and the wine given as a gift for the executive room😃 A group of people who filled the yard outside the premises, drinking and making noise...some singing very drunk, making noise in front of our executive room, playing loud music from their bus and taxi, not considering that there were other guests apart from their friends, who were not only there for pleasure, but mainly for business. For our very 1st time there, they made it very uncomfortable!

- Mashudu (5/5): Just okay - The staff was friendly (The gentleman that checked us in and the lady that checked us out). The breakfast was nice, we enjoyed it. The rooms are too small and the shower was not clean.
The noise was too much. We were waken up at dawn by a group of people making extreme noise. Saturday evening we had the same issue. We had to endure it. To get hold of the reception you have to go downstairs. No other means of communication.

- Mojalefa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mpho (7/5): Good - Breakfast could be better
- Linakane (4/5): You may try this place - The guest house looks good and the view at night is even more appealing. There was only one towel for the couple and no remote control in the room. Breakfast was less organized and we had to wait for everything unnecessarily.
- Mitta (8/5): Very good - Thank the staff for being humble and helpful Dinner or supper was not up to standard because they did not ask us vegetable preference
- Limpho (7/5): MAQALIKA SCENERY GUEST HOUSE is the place for lovers of Nature-Seat, Relax and View the Mountains - The Scenery like the name says Scenery Guest House. The view of the Maqalika Dam and the Mountains facing the Guest House is so overwhelming; I felt at peace with nature by being there. Oh I spent a new year's eve there with beautiful scenes of the new year celebrations and crickets shouts and lightings on the sky.,It was an exciting show. For nature people, this is the best place to lodge in. The breakfast menu was prepared in almost the same way on daily basis. A recommendation would be that different methods of cooking be applied; for instance boiled and scrambled eggs to be varied with fried and botched eggs.
- Dineo (6/5): Pleasant - Excellent location .
Free shuttle to town. No receptionist in the evening, security helping out.
They can do better, especially on breakfast .
Cold eggs, no variety

- Lebohang (10/5): My stay was perfect, will definitely recommend. - The food was very nice, room very clean. The staff were very friendly Nothing
- Ayanda (10/5): Exceptional - Liked everything about the place. Wi-FI was a bit low and limited parking space.
- Bandile (9/5): Superb -
- Pereira (1/5): It's not what is shown! - Nothing I am appalled. I made this reservation on behalf of my parents for two nights. I paid for the executive "fancier" suit. I was informed upon their arrival, that they had no parking. They were then moved 3 times from their room. On one night the staff knocked at the door at 2 or 3 am where the staff asked if they had been given the master key. I might add, that this was likely a result of them moving them around. My parents are over 60 and I booked this based on the images. Oh and the sheets did not fit the bed and extra piece of material was added to it. I was further informed that their was mold in the shower.
Please be aware of this when booking.

- Danny (1/5): Not impressed at all, rather pay slightly more and stay somewhere that provides better service. - Not much could be said about what I liked, but I guess you get what you paid for. Room was big enough for 1 person and probably good enough if you basically only needed a room to sleep in. So where do I start, in the hall they had a big sign saying after 20h30 no loud noise etc. but those rules were not adhered by the other guests. I stayed for 2 nights, night 1 - drunk guests were running around the hall knocking on someone’s door several times and making lots of noise, that was 23h30 at night to put it into perspective. The next morning I went to reception, informed the receptionist what happened and I profusely kept on apologising. I thought he would talk to the other guests and ask them to be mindful of others staying there then night 2 happened. Those same guests I’d assume was at it again, they started with their same shenanigans, but this time started at about 00h00 and carried on for the next hour and a half. So my advice to anyone considering staying here, rather pay a slightly higher rate and stay somewhere else… oh and I almost forgot, upon checking out, just after 7h00 I went downstairs to reception just to be greeted by no one, I stood around twiddling my thumbs for the next 5 min hoping someone might show up, but low and behold, no one came. There is no bell or button for service so I couldn’t even call them, eventually I took a piece of paper, wrote my room number and “check out” on it and left it on the keyboard with my access card.
- Bongani (8/5): Very good -
- Lindiwe (4/5): There's room for improvement for Front and Back of house employees. Please invest in staff training. - Accommodation & Service:
The rooms were clean, but the service from the staff left much to be desired. We encountered issues such as:
Having to repeatedly ask for crockery & cutlery, which, when delivered, was dripping wet or not properly cleaned.
Breakfast was consistently cold, and we felt rushed to leave the dining hall by 9:30 am despite only arriving at 9:00 am. After breakfast, when we tried to work for an hour, we were interrupted by staff asking us to leave, which was uncomfortable in a venue that advertises itself as a guest house.
Noise Disturbance:
Despite a notice requesting guests to be considerate of noise, there was significant early morning noise, including two people using the iron at 5-6 am. We suggest that the front-of-house team gently remind guests upon check-in that the walls are thin, and sound travels easily, or place a notice next to the ironing station to reinforce quiet hours. Remind employees to speaks softly, you host different guest i.e. Night Owls vs. Early risers.
Dining Hall & Layout Suggestions:
Please consider changing square tables to round tables in the dining hall for easier movement and a more inviting layout. Train the team on how to place plates and cutlery on the table, how and when to remove dirty plates. You need a change of mindset in how you manage and reward customer service at your establishment.

- Abbey (7/5): Scenery Maqalika is the place to be at! - The friendly staff there, people can so friendly in some parts of the world. Breakfast was served on time, although they somehow miscalculated the number of guests. When one wanted to have some fruit salad, it was long eaten up by the other guests, and there is no longer some fruits to eat, however, that was not a train-smash for an old man of my age. The respect given to guests was amazing. Really, not serious negative comments. The people at the hotel went out of their way to make us feel at home.
- Hervé (10/5): Excellency - Everything was OK
