Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Had the best weekend accommodations here. Quiet and safe . Best location in the bay. If you stay here, enjoy the water and sunset view.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not worth it - I've already contacted your agent to discuss the issues. Not very clean, smelled terrible at times due to the toilet. Anytime the lid was up it had a very strong odor. I've stayed on multiple houseboats and none of them were like this. Scalding water in a shower that wouldn't get colder so we couldn't use it. Water in sinks had black pieves. Looked like areas hadn't been wiped down.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - One of the unique accommodations I had . Really enjoyed it . It was amazing and loved the whole experience. I will definitely come back and book this houseboat again .
- Herb (10/5): Amazing stay! - The owner was very pleasant and the houseboat was amazing. Such a different and cool experience. The place was clean and the bed was comfortable. We will definitely be back
- Verified traveler (10/5): Had the best time - Had the best time on the floating house. Great weekend getaway. Hanging out on the upper deck with drinks , and the best view of the bay and sunset. Highly recommended. We will definitely book this again this summer . Thank you
- Richard (2/5): - Uninhabitable. Do not book this houseboat. Found heavy mold in a kitchen cabinet. We didn’t stay and booked a hotel instead. Was very musty smelling and furniture/shades badly need replacing. Bathroom is IN the bedroom with no door or curtain. Nice idea to try but was not executed right.
- Verified traveler (4/5): CANCEL POLICY - older and very compact as one might expect, but in windy conditions hard to maintain your balance. stairs to upper deck was dangerous in the windy (normal) conditions. pics looked much better than "the real deal"
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect Valentines Date - I surprised my girlfriend for this unique houseboat and she just loved it. Was so romantic and perfect for the two of us. She does not stop talking about it while driving home. She cant wait to be back in the area and book this again.
- Suk (2/5): - Property was old and dingy. We had good communication with the property owners/management until we had a problem. When we arrived to the boathouse around 5:00 pm there was no running water. We called to let the owner/management know and they said there was pipe bust, it was being worked on, and they would call me to let me know when it was fixed. I did NOT receive a phone call, I had to call them back and was told it was fixed. It was not fixed. At this time it was late and we just needed a place to stay. I requested a refund, the owner/manager hung up and was unable to be reached the rest of the night. I then received a text stating they would not issue a refund until their cleaning lady verified the place did not need to be cleaned. Not a single apology about our inconvenience, just making sure they were taken care of.
The ONLY positive thing that came out of this was we did receive a refund.
- Robin (10/5): - We had a great time and enjoyed staying on the houseboat!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful and unique house. Great for short term accommodation. Quiet and safe and comfortable .Definitely will book this again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a great cute stay . We. enjoyed the uniqueness of this place. We shall come back again in summer .
- Allie (10/5): - This boathouse was such a unique and cool stay; it was our first time ever vacationing in one. It was within close access to the beach, shops, and restaurants. We especially loved the all around bay views on the top deck. The views are beautiful and peaceful.
The inside of the boathouse was homey and comfortable. The only thing I would say is when the toilet is flushed, it does have a bit of a funky smell to it. But other than that, the experience was very enjoyable. The owner was very friendly and helpful whenever I had questions. If a make another Fort Walton trip, I'd definitely stay at this boathouse again :)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a wonderful stay! Wish could have been longer for us . Definitely will book again. I highly recommend
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was great one night stay . Everything as expected. Best spot in town
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Love the idea of this floating boat. Everything was so wonderful . Clean and comfortable . Amazing view
- RHONDA (2/5): - The top deck of the boat was GREAT. Inside was terrible. No A/C in the bedroom, no water in the bathroom, no lights in the bathroom, holding tank smell was terrible. Dought it is ever treated. NEVER again. No temp control of shower water. Either scalding hot or cold when the 5 minutes of hot ran out.
- Theresa (8/5): Nice stay - Enjoyed the novelty of staying on a houseboat. As stated in other reviews, it isn't new/updated.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great shorty accommodation. Comfortable and quiet and safe .
- Dawn (6/5): - Loved the idea of a houseboat.
Just a few things needed fixing.
Bathroom had no light and apparently needed chemicals in toilet. Smelled bad.
No extra toilet tissue.
Several lights didn’t work.
Had to turn off a/c to use microwave.
- Alenn (10/5): Very pleasing - Check in process was effortless. Stay was comfortable. Needs a minor facelift. Some modern or updated furniture. Needs minor handyman services, all in all very satisfied
- Adam (10/5): - Better than expected, great location! Close to everything but secluded. Could not of been happier. My wife loved it!
- Rene (10/5): - Loved the seating at top. We were up there more than anywhere else. Perfect!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Best accommodations, best location, safe and secured . Comfortable bed, wish the hot shower a little longer but we were ok with it. Restaurants next door with great food. But above all, best sunset view !
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect - Enjoyed everything. Literally we don’t need to leave the boat, everything’s here. And the view is amazing. Attaching picture . Thank you for letting us extend for few more nights. We will be back, God willing .
- Steven (8/5): - It was nice staying in a houseboat versus a hotel room while visiting Ft Walton. The amenities and condition were as advertised. It gave us more of an overall feel and atmosphere of being on the beach. There was a pretty loud band in the restaurant nearby who played well into the night.
- Robert (10/5): - Worked well for me. I enjoyed my stay. Would stay again if in the FWB area.
- Janet (4/5): Health Hazzard Houseboat - This property is in need of cleaning and many repairs. Could I say "Filtgy Dive" I have stayed on House Boats in the past and even owned a cabin cruiser. This place is a health hazzard. My husband had a heart attack a few months ago and wanted to stay on a houseboat. This was the worst experience he could of had. I hope he does not have health isdues after this. Let me list all the issues! Filthy Dirty, no hot water, in the main cabin area there were broken blinds, celing lights did not have bulbs or were broken, clutter and junk everywhere, dishes not put up just setting on the sink. Dirty rugs and furniture. The bedroom carpet was black from dirt. The bedding pillows were horrible not bed pillows. Clutter of dust ridden fans and electric heaters. Left over soap and shampoo. The bedroom reeked of sewer! So soo bad we had to open all the windows and turn on dust ridden fans just to try and sleep. The black water holding tank needs replacing or deep cleaning! The hot water when it came out was cold and smelled of sewer. Upstairs on the deck were four chairs two of which were broken and just trash. The deck and chairs not broken were dirty and needed cleaning. I would never recommend this place to anyone. It was horrible disgusting place. Health Hazzard!
- traci (2/5): - The pictures you see while booking are not what you get. This place was disgusting. Smelled, broken furniture, things didn't work. Very disappointed
Was so excited for this experience bubble popped as soon as we walked in
- Rose (6/5): - In its day I’m sure was quite a great unit- has lost that , unable to open windows without screens, no smoke detector back by bedroom open to outside - difficult for anyone unable to climb high steps to bedroom, to boat at low tide and forget getting to top deck. May be good for young - many good options near for food
- Dawn (10/5): Fun boat stay - This was a fun change from a regular hotel stay. It was exciting and comfortable.
- Brandon (4/5): Not my cup of tea - Great location! Great views. The smell on the boat was just unacceptable! Bed was extremely uncomfortable! Booked for 2 nights only stayed 1 found a hotel next morning.
- Tina B (8/5): - We've read the previous reviews and were expecting pretty much what we got so it was okay. This is similar to camper living. There needs to be some updates/repairs on the camper. The electrical needs to be worked on. There were some finicky switches & some lights not working. It needs a smoke detector. The whole place needs a scrub and some updating. Bathroom sink needs a new faucet. The bathroom shower fixture was not as pictured.. but it worked. You only have a few minutes of hot water. As in previous reviews the toilet issue is just going to have a smell.. it is what it is. If you have air freshener and keep the toilet lid down and air out the cabin with the windows and fans occasionally, & it was fine. We were able to make ourselves comfortable. We had never stayed on a house boat and wanted the experience. We did enjoy being there on the water & we enjoyed the top deck very much. We were able to bring our dog so we were willing to sacrifice. I really hope the owner does some updating.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Unique , fun, safe and comfortable.
- harold (2/5): - We actually enjoyed staying on the house boat. Had stayed there once before. The biggest issue we had was the sewage. It was horrible. We could use the shower or sink due to the smell coming in through the water lines. Until that is fixed I would not recommend staying there. There was also no hot water.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Love watching the rain on the boat . We enjoyed our stay . Definitely will come back
- Verified traveler (10/5): Highly recommended - Thank you for accommodating me last minute after a long driving . Glad I was able to witness the best sunset that really relaxed me . The bed was comfortable and was able to sleep like a baby. Best accommodation and will be back for sure. Will recommend this to friends and family .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Best one night stay. We shall be back for longer accommodation.
- Taylor (10/5): Adorable! - Our stay was an amazing experience! The boat was clean, very well stocked, and the location is prime! This is a hidden gem.
Overall, everything was great! 😊 We're definitely going to return next year.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Would stay here again - First trip after COVID and it was wonderful. The booking was easy and instructions were easy. The houseboat stay was amazing and location was perfect. Would definitely stay here again. Beaches are few minutes away. The pic was taken from the upper deck of the boat .
- David (2/5): - Terrible! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY on this FILTHY DUMP! We arrived around 8:00 PM. We were unable to get half of the lights to work. We called the owner and she said she’d send help. while waiting for someone to come help us, I realized we didn’t have a single washcloth. Two towels for 2 people for 2 days. The person who helped with lights acknowledged that the outlet with the lamp wasn’t working. Neither was the air conditioning in the bedroom. Imagine the summer in Florida without a working air conditioner in the bedroom! It was torture! The air conditioner in the living area couldn’t get cool enough to reach the bedroom. PLUS, they clearly haven’t emptied the tank of the house boat in some time, because every time we either flushed the toilet or ran water in a sink the STENCH of SEWAGE was overwhelming! We couldn’t even brush our teeth without becoming nauseous! The owner told us we could get a refund if we left right at that moment so they could rent it to someone else. We had driven all day, we’re hungry, and had nowhere else to go! After walking over to a nearby restaurant we decided to stay the night. It was the WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED! I feel badly for anyone who ever gets sucked into this arrangement.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent stay - Just everything we needed to rest after a long hot day on the beach.
Cool and comfortable inside , clean towels provided and amazing view of the sunset on the deck. Thank you for accommodating us .
- Verified traveler (10/5): Absolutely fun and unique - Great short term accommodation. Safe and quiet. Sunset view is amazing. Comfortable stay. We shall be back again.
- Elizabeth (2/5): - We had to early leave the property due to the AC problems and dirty conditions
- Verified traveler (8/5): Disappointed - No hot water. Taking an ice cold shower wasn't fun. The toilet ran and then flooded. The bedroom was so hot we couldn't sleep. The individual air unit next to the bed was blowing hot air from the back of the unit. Still the location was very nice and we could walk to get dinner and drinks.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great stay and amazing location. We will definitely book this again
- Verified traveler (10/5): We will rent this again - Great accommodation . The setting and location are perfect. Comfortable bed and clean inside. And amazing sunset and sunrise views on top a plus. We will definitely come back.
- Sherri (6/5): Would not recommend… sub par - The boat was clean but had several things not working or broke. Light in kitchen area not working. Was told it never worked. Stove did not work. No hot water in kitchen to wash dishes. Drawers on vanity broken. 2 doors on closet did not shut. Lots of old food left in cupboard. I have stayed in many VRBO type places and this was the worst.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great vacation time on a boat. Highly recommended
- Stacey (10/5): - Only issue I had was the fridge not cold, And no hot water. But it was super cold so that could have been the problem.
I really didn’t like the propane tank being so close to the stove, but I’m guessing that’s common.
Over all I will stay here again in the future.
- Robert (8/5): - Enjoyed our one night on the houseboat. Unique experience and we love being on the water. Don’t expect fancy - appreciate it for what it is. The unit was clean and we were very comfortable. The only awkwardness is the bathroom is open to the bedroom - no privacy. And the hot water in the shower is very limited but the owner did warn us! Enjoyed the experience and would go back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a great stay on a houseboat . Not perfect but me and my gf loved it. Wish to be back soon and book this again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Unique and enjoyable - Loved the new experience staying on a boat. I will book this again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfort, cool and cozy - We had a wonderful Halloween night stay at the houseboats. My kids loved it. It was comfy, cool and cozy . We ordered from the bar less than a minute walk . The place was very quiet and safe. We shall come back .
- Jesse (2/5): - The Boat was overly disappointing. It had an overall strong musky odor. The clean water tank in my estimation had not been cleaned and sanitized in good while. When you turned the water on it smelled like sewage. The toilet had a rancid smell when you flushed it and it would linger for a while afterwards. The bedding was old and overused. The TV’s did not work. The only form of entertainment that did work was the radio but only one channel. When I text to see how to change the channel I was told they never used it and to “try and figure it out.” The hot water for the shower only lasted a max of 2 minutes. The upper deck furniture was old and worn out. I advised the contact we were very unsatisfied and they never responded. The price we were charged for one night did not come close to meeting our expectations. We didn’t even stay to sleep overnight. Lucky we had family in the area that allowed us to stay with them.
- Shonte (10/5): - Everything was great if you love camping you would love this . Family of four and we was very comfortable
- Verified traveler (10/5): Safe and comfortable stay - Had a wonderful accommodation here- comfortable and safe.AC was very cold . Location was perfect and very quiet. There’s a restaurant a minute walk from the boat which was a plus factor. We loved the sunset on upper deck- just bring your drinks. Definitely will book this again .
- Michael (2/5): Do not stay here - It is not a nice houseboat. The smell is terrible. The bathroom is open so there is no privacy if you get up at night and need to go. You can not flush the toilet paper. The water smells so bad. The hot water dies not last long. We used bottle water to wash face and brush teeth. The cheap sheets feel awful and the corners come off as soon as you tern over. I do not recommend staying here!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We are from New Orleans and booked this during the storm. We were hesitant at first but reassured it was safe there. We glad we did. It was great stay and we were enjoying the storm and strong wind and rain while inside. Houseboat was well secured . Marina was quiet and safe. We missed the outdoor fun and the sunset but above all, we had a great time. We will book this houseboat again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Do NOT stay here! - The houseboat smelled awful…just like a port-a-potty! The air conditioning did not work at all and we were miserably hot! There were numerous areas that were partially repaired with shoddy workmanship. Do NOT stay here, as you will be disappointed!!
- Amber (10/5): - I originally booked the houseboat for 1 night and it was so wonderful I booked 2 additional nights. I am a female who driving across the United States solo and the houseboat was exactly what I needed to unwind.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best Memorial weekend holiday - We had the great Memorial vacation on the boat. Location was great. Houseboat was clean and comfortable. My kids loved it. We had lunch and dinner on the top deck. And the spectacular sunset viewing ever. We shall be back again.
- Rose (10/5): - It was an unexpected stay, but I was very
Surprised and excited. This was something new for us but very happy. Would definitely recommend my friends to stay here. View was amazing! Thank you!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean. Close to the bar/restaurant on the pier but which was convenient.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved it! Awesome property. Great communication with owner! No issues! Clean. Outside of the busy traffic. Perfect!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We arrived very late , instructions were very clear and precise from the management. The location was perfect, with the spectacular view of the sunrise and sunset alike. We loved our stay. Well recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Well located , quiet , safe and houseboat is cozy . Enjoyable
- Highprietess (10/5): - Very peaceful and quite. I use this space to help me think and relax and it was just what I needed. The host was great. Will book again
- Ryan (10/5): - Fantastic place. Highly recommend. Beautiful area.
- kellie (10/5): - The experience was awesome, I wish we would have been able to spend more time on the boat. The communication was phenomenal, there was a few hiccups, but overall definetly worth it.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - There is no onsite fishing to this property. Many many signs are posted that there shall be NO fishing. Kind of disappointed in that because that was a huge thing for us when we asked we were told it would be okay. Property needs updated. Really bad smell to the toilet but they have signs that it’s normal for a house boat and leave you chemicals to offset that.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Its like camping on the water. My kids loved it . Twas a great getaway after the pandemic. Couldn't ask for more. Cant wait to be back again.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - When I arrived at the boat some one was already I the room and I had my children so I had to find another room I did get a refund but still inconvenient knowing they took my money and had the boat reserved already.. the location is not very good crowded by other boats on marina not like the pics it wasn't until after I booked receiving a text stating boat is not in fort Walton, its actually in Shalimar bad experience overall
- Verified traveler (10/5): Exceeded expectations - Great time solo . Peaceful and exceeded my expectations. One of a kind. Will be back for more
- jamie (4/5): Not pleased - we wanted to stay somewhere unique. It was definitely unique. Inside smelled like a mixture of RAID, bug spray and candle. Walls had damage. The shower didn’t work, it was either cold as ice or scalding hot. The description of location was not accurate.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was rocky in the morning but calmer at night. Great sight of the sunset. Very quiet . Location was great .
- KayB. (6/5): - Staying on the houseboat was a unique experience, but you can tell it is just a money maker for the owners. The woman I spoke with was very prompt to respond to texts and never acted bothered. I wish that a little more TLC had been put into it. There was a water pressure problem, but it was fixed the next morning. It really needs a good scrubbing, the linens on the bed need to be upgraded, and while there were little signs for directions, some of them were faded. Maybe have one instruction book that is visible right when you walk in. The upper deck could use some updating as well.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great fun time. Absolutely the best accommodation we had. Loved everything this houseboat offered!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - FABULOUS TIME AT THE HOUSEBOATS. MY KIDS LOVED EVERYTHING . IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST VACATIONS WE HAD. AND THE NEXT DOOR RESTAURANT SERVED THE BEST PIZZA IN TOWN ( JUST A MINUTE WALK FROM THE BOAT). AND AMAZING VIEW OF THE SUNSET .
- Van (10/5): We wanted something fun & different..and we got it - We thought that it would be different and fun to stay on a houseboat...and we were right! Nothing beats sitting on the top deck with my family enjoying the ocean breeze, watching the sun set on one side and a storm rolling in on the other side of the horizon, not to mention breakfast out there in the mornings too. I would recommend this place for down to earth & easy going people because it is not a fancy hotel, it's a quaint little house but on the water! And it is right around the corner from everything.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This boat was unique and lovely, with an upper deck that is amazing to hangout on and great view of the sunset. We extended our stay ( originally for a night only ) because we cant get enough of the experience. Thanks to the manager who was very understanding about our last minute request to extend and accommodated us. Thank you! we will surely comeback .
- Verified traveler (4/5): Blah. - I would have loved to stay at the boat if it was in better condition. There was a issue with the lighting, a water leak that caused half the floor in the front to be soaked and NO WATER usage in the boat.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Enjoyed every bit of it. Easy booking and Instructions how to get there. Very clean and comfortable. Hanging out at the upper deck is just way relaxing . I wanna come back soon
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fell in love with the houseboat . Great view of the sunset . Very quiet location.
- Kerry (8/5): Get away - Lovely spot
- Verified traveler (10/5): What a unique experience - Literally stayed in the water and it was a great experience. I thought I’m gonna get a motion sickness but the boat was totally calm and steady. Everything was fantastic. Definitely a well recommended place to stay in.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Exceeded my expectation. I am a solo traveler and this is one of the best accommodations I had . Just a very lovely and quiet stay. Love the bay view on the upper deck.
- Verified traveler (10/5): We loved it - Had a wonderful stay. Very peaceful. Just what we needed to relax.
- Verified traveler (10/5): The best - Peaceful, comfortable and safe. Best vacation I ever had for a long time. I’ll be back for sure .
- Eugene (2/5): 1970 call - This boat needs lots of updating. Everything inside is very old. We were expecting luxury, but definitely not dated and old like this. Feels like I was sleeping in someone’s bed. I did not have a good time staying there at all
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - We had a blast . Lovely stay. If you are not adventurous, this is not for you . A must try !
- Deputy1445 (6/5): - I chose this property, because the reviews were great and the boathouse concept sounded appealing; however the property is not what I was expecting. I owned an RV and I know what to expect staying in an outdoor's setting, so by all means I am not a picky person. Location was great, lots of restaurants and other stuffs to see and do at walking distance and the view of the Bay is great. The Houseboat is dated and the condition of the property is awful. The water heater for the shower is impossible to deal with and either you get scalding hot water or freezing cold. I attempted to deal with this situation for two days and the instructions were not accurate and nothing worked. No leather couch as described and the furniture was old with water damaged and incomplete work. The access door to the engine was located at the bedroom and was not secured, so you hear everything at night. The upper deck was dirty and disorganized with stains on the canvas and on the outdoors chairs. In this particular stay, the wind was stronger than usual and the Houseboat was rocking all night and striking the dock making screeching sounds for two days, because the Houseboat was not secured property to the dock. The Marina was dark and you have to walk through the grass in order to get to the Houseboat. No lights at the entrance of the houseboat and the outdoor mats were wet regular carpets remnants, instead of outdoor mats. I am only given a three because of the location, the view of the bay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fun - Definitely a memory
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best stay - Had the best time of my life. Living on the water was amazing. Houseboat was so cool, sunset was spectacular and the location was so peaceful.
- Wendy (8/5): - The houseboat could definitely use some love and a good cleaning. Keep in mind that some of the pictures appear to be older and the boat is in need of some repairs and new linens. We're campers, so most of this didn't bother us and the negatives were far outweighed by the positive experience. We chose to sleep on the pull out sofa and keep the bedroom door closed. This helped with the toilet smell (and the boat was pumped out while we were there). Since the weather was a bit cooler, there was no need for a/c or heater. We kept the bay facing windows cracked at night and it was perfect. We had no issues with the shower and the water was good and hot. The boat does rock, you'll either love it or hate it. We enjoyed that! Suggestions: 1) bring your own linens, towels, blankets, and pillows (you'll be more comfortable) 2) If you like collecting sea shells, visit Navarre Beach for a day. 3) AJ's in Destin has the best sunset views 4) the breakfast place right behind the marina has awesome food. We have been contemplating buying a houseboat ourselves, and this stay definitely helped us decide that it was something we'd like to explore further.
- Jeffrey (8/5): Water life - We had a great 2 nights stay on the boat. It is a great location to sit and watch the waterway, walk to dining or activities, or for boating activities. We took our own boat and went to Navarre and Destin. There is a boat launch very close to the houseboat for a small fee. However, please keep in mind this is not a hotel or condo. The toilet stinks, the shower is hard to get the right temp and the boat moves with the waves. We are familiar with camping in an rv and this is similar experience. Saying that, nothing better than sitting on the top deck of the boat with a drink.
- Shelby (8/5): Great for couples and also our kids next time! - The weather was not good, but this didnt stop us from having a good trip. Thw top of the houseboat is covered so we watched the rain come down peacefully. My fiance and I enjoyed ourselves. There were so many amenities in the boat, we didn't need to bring anything of our own. I cannot wait to book another time when the weather is better.
- Marti (8/5): - A/C in bedroom was only real issue. Jan was excellent. Holding tank did need to be pumped out. Otherwise great stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Loved it - So unique and amazing. My kids loved it. Unbelievable view of the sunset. and the houseboat was clean and beds were comfortable to sleep on. We will be back soon
