The preparation of the food and the presentation is absolutely wonderful. It is not your traditional motel it’s a hotel with a time stamped flare.

Everything needs painting and TLC. Outside pathways are pitch black. There is a balance between historic/romantic and safe/practical. Dalvay needs to find that balance.

Better idea have ac installed in windows as less noisy. Windows had spiders and other insects between panes, over all windows etc. need thorough deep cleaning. Rest of the room seemed ok in terms of cleaning.

• Julie (8/5): Beautiful old property with lots of cachet - I've always wanted to stay at Dalvay by the sea and splurged for my bday. Beautiful old property with lots of cachet and some updates to bring it to today's standards (portable AC, power bar to add outlets, etc.). No TV but WiFi was available. It was cold for mi-June so the fireplaces were lit which made it cozy with plenty of spaces to sit and enjoy a glass, a book or a board game. We splurged on a delicious breakfast the next day. Our room on the second floor was spacious and comfy with a king bed. Sadly the bed frame needed some TLC because our heads were lower than our feet.
• John S (10/5): Dalvay By The Sea overnight - A very pleasant single night stay in a place of historic origins. All staff we encountered were friendly, very attentive and knowledgeable about the history of the building, its original builders and past residents. Experiencing a century's step back in time within the original decor and ambiance and "old school" service was an extremely refreshing change from typical hotels. Being early in the summer season, we found the beach was nearly deserted for a late morning walk. Not to be missed if you have the opportunity, even if just for a refreshment or a meal. Reserve well ahead (months, not weeks) if you intend to stay during peak times.

The rooms are well-appointed and the common areas are as cozy as home, with a crackling fire burning all day. The staff are clearly passionate about what they do. • Marie (2/5): - This property was once an amazing home for a wealthy family. It is 100+ years old and still very impressive but it should be a museum or a restaurant not a hotel. It is in very poor rundown condition. There are no elevators which is hard if you are put on the third floor. In the room, there are no coffee makers, no mini fridge, no clock, no tv, no ac. Paint is peeling on all the woodwork, difficult to open the door as the rug is higher than the door bottom. Ice machine was broken, hot water takes 10 minutes of running the tap. Any renos that were once done were done on the cheap not consistent with the original quality that the house was built. The bed was comfortable. The staff was very nice. It was a big disappointment. This place could be made great but sadly it is not.

• William (10/5): Like stepping back in time - From the moment we stepped into the hotel we were greeted and taken care of by David and his team. The hotel is like stepping back in time to the type of inn you see in the movies, beautiful woodwork, classic styling and roaring fireplaces in the library and front entry. Whether enjoying tea and coffee in the morning of a glass of wine in the evening you don't even want to leave. Quiet, elegant and an excellent restaurant all on property.
• Tina (8/5): Pre-season visit for rest and relaxation. - Lots of history. Weather was not the greatest so any trip to the beach or outside activities were little to none. There are no televisions - so games, a laptop or other technology would be useful if trying to pass time or occupy the littles (if any). I was surprised there were no face cloths. Sometimes this is all we need so would save on hand and bath towels.

The setting is gorgeous. This was the most relaxing part of our trip. I could have stayed much longer. The staff went the extra mile to be helpful. The owner (operator) was most gracious.

The dining facilities and food are first rate;. the property is well kept and features its own lake ; broad verandahs overlook garden and croquet areas. The many rooms are comfortable and well decorated while varying greatly in size and view.. I will visit again and stay longer.

• Marion (6/5): - A return visit to Dalvay after many years proved you can’t go home again. Expecting a 4-5 star experience we were greeted with a third floor cold and drafty room (albeit with a view of the lake) and with a bed that the biggest bear must have slept in, and that left me clinging to the side lest I fall into the middle. My husband was greeted with a cold shower wake up after his golf round which he hasn’t needed in a while. Things were remedied to some extent by the intrepid Nettie who should be canonized and by Spencer who was efficient and solicitous. Housecoats would be a welcome addition as well as steps into the claw foot tub showers ( not for the faint of heart!!) The fires are warm the prices are high and the beach is beautiful

• Brenda (6/5): - The property has old world charm and most of the staff, particularly diningroom staff, was friendly and accommodating. There was no sound suppression between rooms. Our room needed some attention by the maintenance and cleaning staff such as dust and debris behind the furniture and the drapes couldn't be closed properly. When checking out, we were not asked how our stay was. We saw two members of upper manager without masks in the lobby and library breakfast area while the guests and staff were required to be masked. We do want to emphasize that the diningroom staff was friendly and accommodating.
• Janice (6/5): Staff appears as tired as the facility. - This was the first time I not asked about my stay at checkout. The hotel is not really guest centric. Closing the restaurant without informing guests is another example. This is important as the location is in the middle of nowhere. A heads up would have been appreciated. Rooms are very tiny and dark.

• Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice place and the personnel were simply just perfect. However, we were very disapointed that the owners and personnel were not wearing masks at all in this period of COVID. This is a shame.
• Verified traveler (10/5): - This beautiful 1895 Inn is a beautiful walk in history. The staff are amazing. Food was fantastic. The provincial beach is the best on the island.
• Verified traveler (4/5): - We stayed for two nights, and our first evening dinner was fantastic! Both the food and service was incredible. Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there. The service at breakfast the next morning was terrible. It was so bad that the table behind us left after waiting 40 minutes for their food, which only showed after they left. Later that day, we ordered a charcuterie board, and it came without any crackers or napkins. Don't bother getting a room with a 'view'. Our view was only accessible via a tiny window, which had a noisy portable AC unit attached. The front lawn is covered in goose feces, so you cannot sit and enjoy the view there either. Overall, a very disappointing experience. We will not be back.

• Steve (2/5): - Property looked nice from a distance. Cost $32 to enter the area. Room on 3rd floor no elevator. Room had no Tv, no Coffee maker, no telephone, no radio, just 2 chairs, one bed one dresser one small window. Bathroom very small with no shelves, no hooks for clothing to hang. Next day no bed made, no new towels, no room service at all. View from window in room 19 showed exterior damage on next door dormer, missing shingles. Staff friendly, Food very over-priced. $26 for one porkchop with one scoop of potato and one beet cut into 4. Advertised price $214 was charged $219 / night. This place badly needs new management.

My lifelong friend and I always take a couple of days to get together every summer.Since we needed to stay on PEI because of Covid, we decided to try Dalvay by the Sea Hotel! We had a wonderful time and enjoyed our time there very very much! I is a grand place to stay! Most times it would be fully booked for the whole summer with tourists from away, but not this summer, again because of COVID , PE Islands jump at the chance to stay at this beautiful old landmark, you will not regret it!
• Verified traveler (8/5): - If you enjoy 19th century luxury living (which we do - of course that means no TV or radio, but they do have free wifi), amazing place with beautiful varnished wood fittings and frames everywhere, impeccable service, massive stoked fireplaces - which were necessary because we stayed there at the very end of their season (27 October) and the rooms were distinctly cool. Lovely grounds with Dalvay Lake and the sea beaches of PEI National park 10 minutes' walk away.
• EH (10/5): - We loved everything about the Dalvay! The staff were exceptional, going above and beyond in every way. They were all incredibly kind and helpful. The hotel itself is stunning with plenty of space to relax, sit by the fire, grab a drink, read a book, enjoy a good meal... we almost never left! And the location is perfect. Only 25 minutes from the airport, it's quiet and secluded but also close enough to downtown when you wanted to get out for a bit. And the walk to the beach was lovely. We adored everything about our stay and we will certainly be back!
• Verified traveler (10/5): - The building was magnificent. The staff was more than helpful. I would like to have seen each of the rooms in period decor, not just mine. It was not swimming weather but the beaches were very accessible and the facilities better than most.
