alicerP4224JA (10/5): Great stay and location - Unique cozy lodge nestled at Lake Rabun. Quiet and relaxing. We stayed in the “Moonshine” room. Although initially I thought the room was small, it was perfect for our short stay. I liked the fact the rooms did not have a phone or TV. The staff were so nice and accommodating. A big shout out to Samantha who was a ray of sunshine, personable and informative. The hotel was very clean considering its age and the value was pretty reasonable. We loved the location to the hiking trails and waterfalls. The breakfasts were hearty and delicious. We will be back!

I only wish we would have had more time to hang out. Be sure to call to see if a room is available...the online reservation bots said they were full, and when I called direct that was definitely not the case.
S580BItanyam (10/5): North Georgia Gem in a beautiful lake and mountain setting - Highly recommend this charming, historic inn in Lakemont. Scenery is spectacular, the staff are super friendly and helpful, and our room was just as expected for such a spot (absolutely cozy, quiet and relaxing with some cute lake-mountain decorating touches). We booked dinner in the hotel restaurant and were not disappointed (the trout entree is a winner). And a hearty, delicious breakfast fueled us up to start our 9+ mile hike. In short, cannot wait to return - this one is a north Ga gem! The only thing that would have improved our stay (and these are minor): the coffee station on the 2nd floor is a great amenity but we would have preferred ours with milk/creamer (which we couldn't find). Also, some online information from the hotel's website suggested freshly baked snacks would be available in lounge areas. We never found those (a little disappointing, though to be fair, we also didn't ask). Pre-packaged granola bars were in ample supply.
patriciagY720PW (10/5): Family Wedding Anniversary Gathering - The team at the hotel outdid themselves to make our wedding anniversary celebration special. Really, everything was perfect! They have an amazing chef - his creative dishes blew everyone away. The setting is country elegant, all spiffed up from our wedding there thirty years ago. The staff was super accommodating, making changes we requested at the last minute. They even did things I had not thought of, like personalized menus on decorative card stock. I will treasure beautiful memories from the wedding and now from the anniversary.

We had dinner in their restaurant which was amazing. I loved the quirkiness of this hotel. Don't book if you want the 'run of the mill' TV/coffee maker in the room that a impersonal chain hotel provides. There's no elevator, but parking is free. The customer service makes this a personal experience. Thank you Lake Rabun Hotel 😊

Extraordinary670742 (10/5): Romantic getway to Lake Rabun - We had a wonderful weekend getaway at Lake Rabun! The bed and breakfast was absolutely perfect — peaceful, comfortable, and full of charm. The restaurant on site was incredible — the food was top-notch, and the staff went above and beyond to make the experience memorable. It’s also in a great location, just about 10 minutes from downtown Clayton, where we loved exploring the local shops and restaurants. Between the cozy stay, exceptional service, and beautiful surroundings, this getaway was everything we hoped for and more. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing weekend escape
U2337ENhollyb (10/5): Fall getaway - The location was in beautiful Lakemont Georgia across the road from Lake Rabun. There were different spots where you could see the lake even though it wasn’t right on it. There were beautiful areas indoor and out where you could relax. I enjoyed reading on the veranda where you could enjoy the beautiful fall weather and leaves. The weather was perfect for sweaters and hiking. We went on a hiking trail to Hemlock Falls which was gorgeous. One day we went on a drive on Tallulah River road and enjoyed that. We enjoyed 2 restaurants in Clayton, favorite was the Friends of Clayton Cafe. They had delicious burgers that were BOGO on Tuesday night and a great deck on the roof to watch the sunset. The views of the mountains were incredible there. Especially the day we went for breakfast and it was a little rainy and the fog/clouds lingered there. We enjoyed the Batesville grocery and restaurant on hwy 197 in Clarkesville Ga which is such a pretty road for a drive too. The little restaurant and gallery had great soup and sandwiches as well. The hotel is beautiful and the bed comfy. It was a smaller room but we weren’t in there much and we knew there wasn’t tv and that was fine. My husband was able to watch Monday night football downstairs in the big parlor area. The breakfast were delicious and varied from biscuits and gravy to omelets and waffles and french toast, always fresh fruit, juice, coffee. They had very well stocked keurig area upstairs with a nice selection of plastic free k cups which was really nice. We ate at the hotel restaurant once and we had prime rib and salmon which were both delicious. Everyone working there was so nice and helpful. I’m sorry I didn’t get the one ladies name but she was there just about all the time and she was amazing! She served breakfast the last few days we were there and we were lucky enough to meet her sweet daughter and granddaughter. We did ride to Helen one morning and enjoyed a funnel cake and coffee. We didn’t eat there that day but they have a really nice restaurant called Cowboys and Angels that we ate at on another trip. All in all we had a very relaxing time and we would like to go back someday.

The king suite room I had booked was unfortunately unavailable due to maintenance, so they gave us the keys to a cabin in their wedding venue area just down the road, which I felt was a huge upgrade in itself. Absolutely amazing quaint cabin, and since it was a weekday, we had the whole cabin venue area to ourselves. We had dinner there that evening, and it was oh so good. The breakfast in the morning was perfect as well. We will definitely stay there again. A huge thank you to the staff there for a very pleasant visit!

momabe (10/5): Relaxing retreat in the Northeast Georgia Mountains - What a gem near Lake Rabun! The hotel has such a cozy charm — the rooms are modern and comfortable, yet they keep a unique rustic look that makes the stay feel special. Everything was spotless, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We stayed on the top floor. There was a thunderstorm that evening. Not everyone gets to experience the tapping of rain on a tin roof. The restaurant was just as impressive. Delicious food, beautifully presented, and served in a welcoming environment that made every meal enjoyable. The staff was attentive and genuinely friendly, which made the experience even better. There are fresh coffee stations on each floor, and our room welcomed us with fresh cookies. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway with great accommodations and amazing food, this is the perfect spot. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Janis (9/5): Best Hotel & Restaurant! - We love this hotel! It is so quaint & rustic. The staff was quick to assist, and the restaurant had excellent food. It has a nice parlor with tv & table games. We will stay here again as the occasion permits. At 8 AM, workers were moving furniture in the hallway & talking very loudly. It was so annoying, as we had hoped to sleep late. But we would do it all over again!
Verified traveler (8/5): Fell Short of Expectations - There is no lake view, the room and common areas are clean. The bathrooms off of the lobby stunk all of time. The first room we stay in was right over the kitchen and the smell was horrible, the bed was uncomfortable and the parking lot noise was loud as the staff was leaving for the night. The next morning we moved to a different room. The 2nd room didn’t smell, had a larger bathroom and was quieter. The staff was nice and accommodating. The food was good but nothing special. The food at Max’s across the street is great, large portions. I can say that “I’ve been there, done that” as a historical hotel stay but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend my family or friends. I really wanted to like it but sadly it fell short of my expectations.

Harold (8/5): - We love historical properties and excited to stay at the hotel. Unfortunately, there was an issue with our room and we were moved to the Fish Camp. While the camp is unique, the beds definitely need some upgrades and sadly we had to drive a mile and a half to eat breakfast and dinner at the hotel which made us feel isolated and diminished our experience. Staff were exceptional.

The hotel has such a cozy atmosphere and the staff was very helpful and kind. The grounds were also quite lovely and Max’s Lakeside Grill is just steps away. We definitely recommend it for a quiet getaway!

paulakN3544ZG (8/5): Quaint historic hotel and cabins near Lake Rabun - The hotel was beautiful and historic and decorated with antiques. The staff were very friendly. The food at the restaurant was fabulous. They allowed us to bring our dog if we stayed in one of the fish camp cabins. The cabin was clean and decorated cute with antiques. Because it was old and had a/c added after the fact, the humidity that week made it a bit musty. The towels didn’t dry. However, we were thankful to have a/c and to be able to bring our dog. The floor in the bathroom could be updated, and the sink was too big for the faucet. We had a great time in this quiet area and saw two bears and two cubs along the road around the lake. It was a great location for exploring the waterfalls all around north Georgia.

It’s a physically hazardous facility however for anyone with any physical condition or over 65 and not in top physical health. No elevator, which is understandable, yet the stairs are both steep and narrow. In short, the facility is dangerous to anyone who is physically weak or not fit.

joyf387 (4/5): Supposed to be romantic weekend 😒 - I read all reviews and was excited for the weekend; only to be very disappointed 😞 The first impression of the old house was ok but expected it to be ON the lake! A lake view! NO, neither of those. It was a historic old house.. The " down beds" were very uncomfortable!" The head of our bed was going downhill, so we were standing on our heads! Until we turned and lay at the foot of the bed. The walls were paper thin!! I understand it's an old house, but if you are running a bed and breakfast, invest in insulation! We heard the people next to us snoring 😴 and not even mentioning our upstairs neighbor 😒 We have stayed in several B'n'Bs with better privacy. The raveings of the restaurant were disappointing as well. The dinner menu was outrageous in price $$$. So we ate somewhere else. The breakfast was cold and not good either. We paid for 2 nights, but after the 1st 24 hours of disappointments, we hiked to our last waterfall and came back cleaned up and checked out! Not even caring that we were losing a nights rent. Couldn't stay another night! Very disappointed !!!😞 Waterfalls in the area were beautiful and the lake itself was beautiful!

I was looking for a space to unplug from the world, and this getaway delivered exactly that. No TV? No problem. I was able to fully unwind and take in the beautiful scenery. The staff was friendly and helpful, offering great suggestions for both dining options and local attractions. I couldn’t have asked for a better escape!

Will definitely return! - We were in the area for a surprise party and decided to stay the night and my husband found this just a few miles down the road from our event venue. The building is so charming, and we took the smallest room because it was just one night, but it was clean and comfortable. We had a great time at the bar. The staff were all warm, welcoming and accommodating. Breakfast was fantastic, and the dark coffee at the coffee bar upstairs was amazing. We'll definitely come back for a longer stay!

The restaurant was great for dinner. Slow service at breakfast.
Q2518ZMjimm (10/5): Fabulous Wedding Venue! - We used the Lake Rabun Hotel as a wedding venue last weekend, and it was perfect for our group of about 20. The backdrop of the front of the hotel was a beautiful place for the ceremony. The wedding package at the hotel was a great deal and absolutely magnificent. All of the guests who flew in fell in love with the entire experience. The rooms, planned dinner, cake, flowers, photographer were all perfect. We brought our own Pastor but they also have one available. We used the innkeeper’s cabin as the group headquarters and it was perfect. We highly recommend Lake Rabun Hotel as a wedding venue!

JDimod (6/5): Cottage review. - This is our second stay at this hotel. We decided to stay in one of their cottages next to the main building for our 2 day stay. We stayed in one section of a cottage with a separate bedroom and bath. It offered more space from the main building and a little more privacy. It is very rustic appearing and offers a nice shared porch. We enjoyed wine and cheese on the deck both nights. There was no one in the other half of the cottage, so that was nice. There is no TV, which is nice and relaxing. Breakfast is included with your stay at the restaurant. Dinner is optional and provides for a nice dinner experience. The cons; bed was okay and sank in the middle. The small dorm sized refrigerator was not very cold, as I think they just turned it on prior to our arrival, which leaked water by day 2. The room was musty smelling and we were not able to open windows to air out then place and we had a small electric heater to use for the cool evenings. I already mentioned the bed. The shower is rustic and made of stone. The towels smelled of bleach and are rough due to the starch. Something you find at a low end hotel. Our clothes stunk due to the musty smell, even those that sat in the suitcase. A provided coffee pot in the room was nice but the provided coffee was not so good. Providing better towels, bottled water and a mattress that did not sink in the middle would go a long way to provide a nice experience. Airing out the room and providing fresh air would go along way also.

Yes the rooms are small and no TVs, but there are wonderful outdoor areas and a TV/game room for all to enjoy. We ate breakfast and dinner there each day. Breakfast is included with room and was very good and filling! Dinner was also excellent from the service to the food. Spent the day shopping in Clayton, which has a nice selection of shops downtown. I’ve spent over seven years in commercial hotels due to heavy work travel and found Lake Rabun to be very refreshing.

We enjoyed hiking at Tallulah State Park, dining in Clayton, GA as well as walking and shopping on main Street. The staff at the hotel was very helpful and went out of their way to make sure our needs were met. Breakfast was served quickly and was very tasty. It was a great start to a day of hiking. We will be returning soon..
Molly (10/5): - This was a small but beautiful room. It created a nice romantic get away for my husband birthday. The small town near by had plently of options for dining and shoping, but our main reason for coming to the area was hiking in the state park. It was about a 10 minute drive to the trails. The staff were wonderful and did everything possible to answer questions and meet any need we had. Breakfast service was quick, the meal was filling and a great way to start a day of hiking.

The only issue was the bed. Though the mattresses was plenty soft you sunk down so far it was like being in a bowl. That was very painful for my back.

dianemR6850YJ (6/5): Good place, just a few things to know… - Nice people, room was very small but cozy. Had a curtain above the bed with no window, a little creepy. The bathroom is tiny. Only about a foot and a half from the toilet to the wall. Not much leg room. The Tallulah Falls room had no hot water in the shower. Only two outlets in the room & no central heat. They do have an electric heater.

Her level of customer care truly goes above and beyond. My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Fish Camp 4, which had everything we needed. The bed was super comfortable, and we could tell the sheets and every corner of the cottage were sparkling clean. Plus, the food at the restaurant was simply delicious and remarkable! We were served by the lovely, friendly, and kind Taylor. We can’t wait to return because they made us feel very welcoming every moment we were there. Thank you so much, Amanda!

The chef was Fantastic. Loved the steak! Super tender. definitely go back again. Really loved the quaintness and the history of the building.

jefe54 (8/5): A Memorable Valentine's Stay and Dinner In a Charming Hotel - The hotel is very charming and historic. One can tell that the team members are proud of their hotel and they all do their best to make the guest feel at home and comfortable. We had the Valentine's Day Dinner which offered great choices and delicious food. There are inevitably some challenges that come with a historic property, but all in all we left with pleasant memories.

sharonbC9516UM (2/5): MISERABLE STAY - Access to cabins was treacherous. It was raining the night we checked in; the path to the cabin was completely dark until you reached your destination; path was steep and curvy and had it not been for a good samaritan who helped me reach the room I never would have made it. My husband had called the hotel before booking to make sure they had a walk-in shower as I have sever back issues so they were aware of my limitations. Deluxe room had a small bed, desk chair. Chilly. No heat adjustment that we could find. Shower was a step down onto rocky surface with partially hanging curtain. Toilet was low and wedged into corner-no grab bars-hard to access. Wish we had an ADA approved room. Slept in my clothes and left the following morning. My husband explained that I could not physically accommodate the room that they had assigned. They offered no concessions and charged for the full two-day night commitment. Having traveled extensively , this was a first for us both. Please carefully consider any reservations you might make with this vendor. They advertise themselves as a boutique hotel, but they are far from it, unless you consider cabins from the 1950's a boutique experience.
F9789SAteresam (4/5): Cute historic, but don't recommend during off season - The hotel itself was cute historic. It seemed clean and the front desk staff was very friendly. We booked the one-bedroom cabin/lodge, which seemed to have 2 bedrooms when booking. It was very misleading. We ended up adding on the bedroom attached to the cabin. If there had been someone in there, that would have been very awkward. The furniture was old/antique and it smelled a bit like a grandma's house, but seemed clean and the kitchen was furnished. It was off season, but we booked the Sunday brunch at 11:30, and 2 massages on Monday afternoon. The restaurant was closed on Monday except for breakfast. We received a call that our 11:30 brunch was cancelled, however they were able to get there for Monday breakfast at 9:00. The only hazardous area we ran into was the hotels parking lot, which was never salted or scrapped during our stay. They then cancelled our massages on Monday afternoon and said that the masseuse couldn't get there but had other appointments at another location. We had already been out that day to hiking locations and the roads were fine. It was quite disappointing, but we fit in a second hike. There are beautiful hiking trails in the area, and beautiful waterfalls. The main hotel was cute, however the rooms were extremely tiny and all the TVs and microwave etc are in common areas. You would be able to hear a lot of noise room to room.

This stay was the most comforting & breathtaking one I’ve had yet. There were few others staying around the time I was..it was overall pretty quiet offering peace & an appreciation of the ambience surrounding us.

j0alh (10/5): Amazing Anniversary Trip! - We love the atmosphere, especially around Christmas with all of the decorations. Our stay was wonderful and our meal was amazing as always! The room was clean and cozy. We also booked massages which were performed at the hotel. We are repeat guests and will be back again.
