Traditional thin Japanese mattress but I found it comfortable enough. Good shower. All in all an excellent value hostel - the only improvement that could be made would be a better pillow as it was practically as thin as a piece of paper

• Estella (10/5): Beautiful, traditional and clean - Traditional and beautiful Japanese style guesthouse, which was more than I expected. The place was extremely clean and the beds/mats were suprisingly very comfortable. As people have pointed out, this place is small but I didn't see it as a problem. They provide tea and coffee, towels, shampoo etc. Only con of this place would be the fact that there's no airconditioner in the dormitory. How ever, the dormitory area is connected to a balcony which has an AC and a fan. They usually opened the balcony door and turned the AC on at bed time, so the dormitory wasn't too hot at all (even though it got pretty hot during the day). This is something you should consider if you're traveling Japan during the hottest season (I was traveling in the end if June). Over all I had a very good stay!

My only grouses are that without heating, the beds are too cold and if you go, pick the upstairs bed rather than the beds below because the beds above creak badly and disturb the person below a lot. Otherwise the bedding is very comfortable. For the price of the dormitory beds though, it’s a good choice but not so comfortable in the winter.

• daichi (10/5): - 駅やコンビニ、飲食店、二条城などの観光地も近いゲストハウスです。京都らしい和風で古い家屋のような宿で、ドミ以外には大部屋もあるようです。全て畳の部屋です。スタッフもとても気さくで親切です。自由に使えるキッチンと冷蔵庫、コーヒーと紅茶が無料で飲めます。wifiも快適です。バスタオルも無料でついています。 古い施設なので階段や廊下を歩くとギシギシと音がなって、深夜は気をつけなければなりません。シャワールームは一つしかなく、早いもの勝ちです。清潔かどうかで言えば、良くも悪くもないという感じ。夜が少し寒いです。（10月下旬） 正直もっと設備のいいゲストハウスやホテルはいくらでもあると思いますが、アットホームで古風な雰囲気とフレンドリーなスタッフ、共有スペースでの交流などとてもいい時間が過ごせます。
• Verified traveler (6/5): 그냥 적당히 괜찮아요 - 체크인이 늦고 체크아웃이 빠르며 짐보관함이 없어서 분실 위험이 있을 수 있습니다. 바닥과 침실이 나무바닥인데 굉장히 삐그덕 거려서 사람들 다닐 때 마다 시끄럽고 침실 옆에 나무창살로 된 유리문이 있는데 다른 사람이 잘 때 건드리면 굉장히 신경쓰입니다. 그것말고는 딱히 나쁜점은 없습니다.

(6/5): Wer es einfach mag und kein Problem hat mit Gemeinschaftsbad/Dusche wird die zentrale Lage genießen - Positiv ist zu erwähnen: zentrale Lage, nettes Personal und Möglichkeit in der Gemeinschaftsküche sich mit anderen Reisenden auszutauschen. Negativ fiel auf: nur eine Dusche für das ganze Haus, ein kleines Waschbecken und eine Toilette für die Etage. Keine Waschgelegenheit im Zimmer! Kochgelegenheit und Essenstisch befinden sich auch außerhalb des Zimmers.

• nonitan (8/5): 京都出張の定宿になりつつあります。 - 地下鉄烏丸御池駅から徒歩5分、堺町御池のバス停から1～2分。京町家の押入れを改装したドミトリーですが、荷物を置く十分なスペースがあります。WiFi良好。共用シャワー・キッチンあり。スタッフの方々も気さくで親切です。1ブロック圏内に京都文化博物館・郵便局・各種飲食店・コンビニ・土産物屋など店舗も充実しています。いつも半数以上は海外からのお客さんのようです。

• nonitan (8/5): 伝統的な京都の家屋の雰囲気が味わえるゲストハウスです。 - 2度目の宿泊でした。シングルは町家2階の押入れを改装した一畳半ほどのスペースが6つほどあり、寝床の脇に荷物を置く十分な余裕がありました。2階の座敷は、グループ宿泊用の部屋に使われているようでした。宿のスタッフは、到着時に使用方法を丁寧に説明してくれます。1階には共同のシャワー（貸しタオルあり）とキッチン、談話スペースがあり、2階トイレの脇に洗濯機も置かれています。WiFiも快適でした。

• あずき (10/5): 行きつけにしたい、立地の良い宿 - 　２回目の宿泊でドミトリーに3泊しました。 　以前は１泊だったのですが、その際初めて京都でゲストハウスに泊まったので、その快適さと烏丸御池駅の近くという立地の良さに味をしめて予約しました。 　ここのドミトリーは、ベッドの中に荷物を置けるスペースがありベッドの隅で足にバッグが当たることもなく広く快適です。ベッドも木でしっかり組んであるので、二段で揺れを心配することもありません。 　深夜もスタッフの方が泊まり込みでいらっしゃるようなので安心です。 　共有部分にはオーナーの趣味だという歴史系の漫画(個人的にドツボ)の本棚があり、フリーのコーヒーと麦茶がありゆっくりできます。 　京都のカフェで作ってこのゲストハウスの前で販売しているカレーが美味しく、少し辛いですがスパイスが効いていて絶品です。(それを中でお客さん向けに少し安く販売してくれます)他にもカオマンガイなどアジア系の料理の弁当も売っています。 　オーナーの方から聞いたのですが、設備の大半は壁から何からご自分でリノベーションされたらしく、共有部分の明るい色はベンガラを塗り、柿渋と椿油でコーティングするというこだわり。 　 　少し宿のに長くいたので、バックパッカーをしていたといオーナーさんやスタッフの方の話や、ゲストハウスの話、姉小路周辺の話など非常に楽しい時間を過ごしました。 　 　また行きたいと思います。

• CHIN-YING (10/5): - 我住的是單人床，用簾幕隔開方式隱私充足，空氣卻不至於沉悶。活動空間也比一般背包客棧還要夠，晾衣服的地方很好。免費暢飲的麥茶很好喝，空間雖小卻很溫馨。就是房子本身有點舊，地板踩踏起來會發出很大聲響。
• Verified traveler (10/5): Adorable guesthouse very well located - Yululu guesthouse is a very good choice for whoever is on a budget but wants to enjoy what kyoto and Japanese style house have to offer. The location is amazing, the staff is adorable and super helpful, the rooms are beautifully traditional... there is a real desire to make you feel welcome. The two little negative things I can point out are the fact that there is only one shower for 15 guests (!) And that you can hear anything from everywhere, as walls and doors are super thin. So don't expect much privacy. But as a place to stay for one or a couple of nights and visit Kyoto, it's really good.

• BYH (8/5): 일본의 전통가옥을 느낄수 있는 게스트하우스 - 일본 가정집을 개조해서 게스트하우스로 하는것 같은데 일본 전통가옥을 체험해보고 싶은 사람들에게 강추입니다. 그리고 지하철이 5분거리에 있고 기온거리는 약 10분정도 걸려서 교통편과 쇼핑하기 편해서 좋습니다. 그리고 시설은 일반가정집 개조한거 같은거라 다른 게스트하우스 보다 좋다고 말할수는 없습니다

• LeeMyoungjin (10/5): 작지만 안락한 분위기의 게스트하우스 - 좁은 복도와 좁은계단, 좁은 화장실이지만. 굉장히 안락한 분위기에 은근히 넓은 방. 친절한 주인분이 계셔서 좋았습니다. 4명이서 1층의 넓은 방을 썼는데, 방도 따듯해서 잘 잤어요. 주방도 있어 간단한 식사와 커피도 즐길 수 있고. 일본어가 되는 분이라면 만화책을 무료로 볼수도 있어요 ^^ 가장 마음에 들었던건, 근처에 맛집과 목욕탕이 가까이 있다는 것을 주인분이 친절하게 설명해주셔서 쉽고 편안하게 여행을 즐겨서 다행이였어요. 짐 보관도 오후 4시까지 가능해서 괜찮았습니다.
• HEERA (10/5): 이용 후기 - 예약 당시 객실이 많지않아서 2명이서 3인실을 이용했어요. 2층 방이였는데 남자직원분이 처음에 짐도 옮겨주시고 친절히 설명해주셨어요. 방별로 자물쇠 이용도 가능했고 빨래를 널수있는 공간이 있었습니다. 욕실이 하나라고 해서 걱정을 했는데 변기는 층별로 하나씩 있어서 다행이였고 샤워실은 사진에 비해 리모델링이 약간 되어있는듯해요(나무바닥->욕실타일) 방음이 문제라고 많은 투숙객들이 써주셨는데 저희는 피곤해서 깊게 잠들고 일찍나오느라 못느꼈어요. 주인할아버지께서 체크아웃할때 친절히 인사해주시고, 추천할만한 숙소입니다.
• Aurélien (6/5): Okay for a short stay - It wasn't so bad, but the room for the luggage wasn't so awesome, and most of all there was only one shower, which therefore could be a bit dirty (hair and so on). However the staff was always really helpful and nice, we could really feel near of them ! It was quite a good experience !

I really love it and would like to be back next time. But since the traditional Japanese style housing are really poor in sound proofing so u really have to tolerate wif others' noise.

• nonitan (8/5): 町家の風情が味わえるドミトリー - 築80年という京都ならではの2階建て木造家屋を改装したゲストハウスです。今回はドミトリーを利用させてもらいましたが、上下段ある布団置き場をうまく一人用に使っている印象でした。一畳分の布団スペースに加え、荷物を広げられるスペースも十分でした。 小グループ用には座敷も3部屋ほどあるようでした。共用シャワー、洗濯機も備わっています。 場所は地下鉄の烏丸御池駅から2ブロック、周辺には飲食店やコンビニ、銭湯も徒歩圏内にあります。 日本人より海外からの宿泊客が多いそうですが、キッチン脇のテーブルでマンガを読んだり、玄関脇の縁台で一服しながら国際交流、というのも風情がありますよ。

• Jane (8/5): Traditional to the max - The guesthouse is very traditional and I am unaccustomed to sleeping mats so found it rather uncomfortable. The house itself has sliding paper screens and a beautiful little garden very much in the Japanese traditional style. The floorboards creak and you can hear people moving about and talking. The house rules require that everyone is as quiet as possible after 11pm so it's not an issue. Bathroom and kitchen are shared but very clean.
• Zhuo (8/5): Close to kyoto downtown - Very good location. Close to all the great restuarant and shopping center. 2min walk to subway. Very friendly stuff.

• MAN SHAN JANICE (6/5): Old and torn traditional Japanese room - The double room we stayed was so torn and old. The whole room was empty when we arrived, and we needed to set up our table and bed on our own. Not sure if it is due to traditional Japanese culture thing? That is actually okay for us, but the paper doors were obviously old, with papers scratching out and with holes that were covered with stickers... When we opened the cabinet to set up our own bed, the bed sheets and pillows inside were found to have hairs on it... awwwww really a turn off first impression for us. Also the mattress was so thin that it wasn't really comfortable for our back.

• 나봉냐옹 (4/5): - 저는 2인커플룸을 이용했구요. 아시죠? 쵸큼 많이 쫍아요.ㅋ 우선 게스트 하우스 특성상 방음은 어느정도 포기 했다치더라도 이건 해도 해도 너무 적나라한... 도미토리에 묵으시는 사람들은 저보다도 더 힘들었겠더라구요. 도미토리에 벽하나를 두고 바로 옆에 화장실이 있는데요. 사용할때 소변을 누든 뭘하든 2층 게스트하우스에 소리가 다 울리며. 마루바닥에서 삐걱 거리는 소리가 너무심해서 자다가 다른사람 화장실 갈때마다 깨서 그사람이 오줌을 싸는지 아님 방구만 뀌는지 다 듣고 있어야했네요. 저는 바로 옆방에 패밀리가 묵었었는데 밤새 코를 어찌나 골아대는지 다다미 방바닥이 울릴정도였어요. 운이 없었던거지요. ㅠㅠ 1층 프런트에서 주인부부가 떠드는 소리가 마치 바로 옆에서 떠들어대는것 처럼 2층에 울려요. 참 늦게까지 떠드시더라구요. 방의 청결도라...뭐 지저분하다기보다는 다다미에서 올라오는건지 이불에서 날리는건지는 모르지만 먼지가 너무 많아서 저녁 내내 제채기와 기침을 했을정도예요. ( 제가 예민한걸수도 있어요.) 자기전에 떠다놓은 물은 아침에 일어나니 먼지가 가득 올라앉아 있었다는... 그냥 돈을 좀 마~안~이 아껴야겠다 싶을때 말고는 이용하기 싫을정도. 뭐 그닥 싸지도 않지만. 아저씨는 진짜 정말 친절하더군요. 암튼 그렇다구요.
• superpoka (8/5): 京都の街中にあって、お手軽なところが良い。 - カプセルだと、大きな荷物をロッカーかフロントに預ける必要があるが、二段ベッド構造でありながら半畳ほどの押し入れスペースが便利だった。究極の省スペースとういう感じだった。
• prism (6/5): 절대 다시 가지 않을 겁니다. - 우선 일본인 남자직원은 참 친절하고 괜찮았는데 중국인같은 여자직원은 좀,,,식탁을 이용하려고 한시간넘게 기다려도 자기 친구들과 비켜주지않더라구요,,,,그래서 완젼 별루였고 샤워실이 하나라서,,ㅠ진짜 별루인듯,,벌레도,,ㅠㅜ 일본느낌체험하고싶은 마음에 간것이고 친구랑 원래 같이 갈 계획이 아니라서 먼저 일본스러운 곳을 택했는데 환불이 안되는 곳이라서 갑자기 친구도 같이 가게되어 둘다 이곳을 택할수밖에 없었는데,, 둘다 별루라고 생각하고 다시는 안갈거라면서 얘기했어요 같이 지내는 게스트들이 어떠냐에 따라 또 다르겠지만 여자직원의 태도는 진짜 어이없었고 시설도,,,ㅠ
• BBANGDDUCK (8/5): 일본식 다다미방에서 저렴한 가격에 묵고싶다면 추천합니다. - 묵었던 방 (더블룸) 일본에 왔으니, 다다미방에서 하루를 보내보고 싶어서 이 게스트하우스를 선택하게 되었습니다. 제가 묵었던 날은 일본이 너무도 더웠기 때문에 다소 힘들었지만, 날씨가 찌지 않는다면 가와라마치역, 기온시조역까지 걸어다닐 만 합니다. 도보 15분 정도 소요되는데, 교토는 길거리가 예쁘고, 가는 길에 다양한 샵이 있기 때문에 슬슬 걸어가기 좋습니다. 주인분과 쉬운 영어로 간단한 소통이 가능하기 때문에, 언어적으로 불편한 점은 없었구요. 저희가 여기를 선택한 이유 중 하나는 자전거를 렌트해준다는 점입니다. 예상보다 교토에 너무 늦게 도착하여 빌리지 않았지만, 하루종일 빌리는 것 치고 싼 가격이니 참고하시면 좋을 것 같습니다. 제가 이 곳을 예약할 때에는 사진을 보고 정말 관에 누운 것 처럼 자야겠거니 생각했는데, 생각보다 넓었습니다..사진보다 방이 나름 길고, 사진에 보이는 미닫이묻을 열고 나가면 짐 놓는 공간이 따로 있어서 괜찮았습니다. 다만 불편했던 점은 샤워실에 샤워기가 전체에 딱 하나라서 아침에 꽤나 기다렸던 것이구요. 집 구조 상 어쩔 수 없는 것 중 하나가 최악인 방음이었습니다. 옆방 말소리, 공용공간 걸어다니는 소리, 지퍼 여닫는 소리까지 다 들려요. 그리고 집 전체의 조명이 다 넘 은은해요ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

• GUAN RONG (6/5): - 民宿負責人很好、很親切，而且也有台灣的打工換宿學生在，如果在英文、日文溝通不良下他們會幫忙，也會提供當地文化旅遊資訊，非常棒！ 不過浴室只有一間，晚上要洗澡時，需要排隊卡時間搶浴室，這點會比較不方便，有時輪到自己洗澡已經要半夜了！
• Golf (8/5): - เดินทางค่อนข้างสะดวก เดินไม่ไกลจากสถานีรถไฟใต้ดิน โดยใช้ทางออกหมายเลขสาม ของสถานี Karasumaoike ที่พักค่อนข้างเล็กและแคบ เจ้าหน้าที่ให้บริการดีมากดีมาก ช่วยเหลือเต็มที่ สามารถพูดภาษาอังกฤษได้
• Verified traveler (6/5): Albergo tradizionale a due passi dal centro - Hotel per chi ha la schiena forte e vuole vivere un'esperienza jappo - tradizionale. Le pareti sono di carta (vera) e purtroppo su due notti avevamo sempre vicini di stanza maleducati che urlavano, fumavano e non ci hanno fatto chiudere occhio. Lo staff è giovane e simpatico, il posto è molto caratteristico ma per un occidentale significano notti in bianco (vuoi anche perchè dormire per terra è un'esperienza che ti porti appresso per tutto il giorno di gita).

• h (6/5): Chambre d hôte traditionnelle japonaise - Toute petite maison bien situé au coeur de Kyoto. Chambre vide avec couchage futons à faire soi même. Très joli. Acceuil mitigé : Patron super sympa mais peu présent. Tenu par des jeunes qui y vivent donc le seul tout petit lieu de vie commun est toujours occupé. Ce n'est pas un problème en soi bien au contraire... sauf que parfois on a vraiment l'impression que notre présence dans cet espace les dérange. C' est plus LEUR lieu de vie qu'un espace de partage. Dommage.
• Dean (8/5): - Good location. Staff very friendly. Room cosy but clean and somewhere to rest after a long day. Kitchen to make hot drinks or meals. Shared shower and toilets always clean. An excellent budget guesthouse.
• Kim JuYeong (8/5): 무난한 게스트 하우스 - 교통, 숙소, 직원 모두가 무난함 일본 전통 가정집 같이 생겼음 샤워실이 1개인것이 조금 아쉬웠음
• michael (6/5): Basic and cheap - Property is located within a few blocks of the Karasuma Oike subway station. It is diagonal from the Museum of Kyoto (NOT the Municipal Museum or the National Museum, those are different). This is a tiny and very basic hostel which will give you a bed, shower, small kitchen, refrigerator use, and small table areas. Also a low cost washing machine and place to hang clothes for drying. The dormitory is mixed gender, but the individual bunks have a moderately effective privacy curtain. You have an individual light. Bedding is a futon, which I found to be hard. I was glad I took an air mattress. Access to the upstairs sleeping areas was via a steep, narrow staircase. The staff was friendly and helpful. There were inexpensive restaurants and convenience stores nearby.
• Verified traveler (4/5): セキュリティに不安 - シングルというのは、押し入れです。そこにカーテンが付いただけです。セキュリティというものは、まったくありません。個人ロッカーもなく、荷物管理については相当の用心が必要です。
• Chris (8/5): Great location. Close to Gion and Teramachi area. - A bit cold in the toilet and shower atea but otherwise fantastic. Rooms are well heated. Good kitchen facilities.

• Byeongju (8/5): - 전체적으로 크게 나쁘지만은 않았습니다. 위치는 카라스마까지 도보 10분정도면 갈 수 있고 가는쪽이 시장쪽이라 굉장히 여러가지 파는것을 볼 수 있었어요. 숙박 내부는 가격별로 나뉘는 것 같지만 저렴하게 이용했더니 캡슐호텔 다다미 ver.느낌이 나서 좀 신기했네요. 직원분은 로테이션으로 교대하며 근무하는듯한데 직원별로 특징이 달라요.(말 수 라던지) 기본적으로는 친절합니다.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Great for Japanese experience - The owners were welcoming, it is a small house but the room was bigger than the one we had in Tokyo, but bare there is nothing in the room, there is a fold out table in the wardrobe. Room was clean and we loved the Japanese style sliding doors and beds, only bad thing was the shower was down stairs right near the front door. There is however a toilet and sink upstairs.
• Lauren (8/5): - Guesthouse YULULU was a pretty good fit for us. The price can't be beat, the location is convenient, and the building itself is very sweet and old-fashioned. It can get a little noisy, the walls are literally paper thin since it's paper screens. So you hear everything in the next room even if the people next door are whispering.
