Guest Reviews
- hedda_hell (6/5): Perfect location for night life in Bangkok - I had a good stay at this hotel. It was exceptionally clean and offered the perfect location for nightlife, great food, and entertainment. Everything was within easy reach, which made exploring the area effortless and enjoyable.
- YOSHIYUKI (10/5): Friendly staff! - Other than a broken safe in the closet, everything was AAA!
Although I've just checked out, I'm already looking forward to staying there again.
Thank you for a fantastic stay!
- Adrian (10/5): As always a great place to stay - Great hotel in the heart of everything.
- christ615 (6/5): Short stay, 2 nite maximum.. - The hotel is advertised 3 star, the reception area, lovely place to sit, drink coffee or whatever you like, near the klong.
Staff polite,
However, rooms are basic, I paid for the canal view balcony, but no table or chairs to sit and relax, as the room has NO coffee or tea supplied, as most hotels have.
Picked up a few midge bites, but its a upgraded hostel rather than a hotel.
No shower soaps, or basically just somewhere to sleep, dated rooms.
- Tina (10/5): Hidden Gem in Bangkok - The staff was amazing and friendly. Everything was clean. Perfect location.
- family7London (10/5): Stopover - Staying here enroute to Koh kood
Great hotel on a canal
We booked night before we landed so to get our room early morning . It was ready when we arrived . It was clean even under the bed ! So many hotels never clean under the beds .
The staff very friendly
The views of the canal are great
Wildlife everywhere fish and monitor lizards . Walking distance to rambrutti and khosan road and to the pier . Would love to have had a glass of wine or a vodka sitting by the canal but they never had any so had a coffee instead saved my liver !
Location is great 👍
- katie19842015 (10/5): Just As Good As Ever!!! - We stayed at the hotel twice either side of Christmas 2016, so we knew it was a brilliant spot with brilliant staff.
Nothing's really changed. Slightly different staff, but hotel just as amazing as always. Right on Banglamphu canal, so close to Samsen area and restaurants and a decent 7/11 in bottom of Nuovo city hotel, and 5/10 mins stroll across the road to Rambuttri and Khao San so a winner. Compared to the rest of the hotels in that vicinity, it's about £200 cheaper for a week. It doesn't have a pool, but it does have an atmosphere to die for. Keep at it Korbua!!!
- Katherine (10/5): Just as good as always!!! - We stayed twice at this hotel either side of Christmas 2016, and loved it so it was our first port of call when we came back to Bangkok.
We arrived at approximately 7pm and were warmly welcomed by Suon and Lol. They were lovely and they couldn't do enough for us to get us settled in. Next morning we were greeted by Ohm, and standards were just as good.
We had a standard canal view room, 502, which wasn't huge but lovely. The balcony was very scary at first as it's quite high😱 but it was fine once you got used to it.
When we booked it we were told there was still a restaurant, but they only serve breakfast now which we were disappointed about but it's 5 minutes from street food city so it was fine.
We booked this hotel as we'd had such a good time with the previous staff Nuch and Kung, but they weren't there which was sad. Then on day 5, Nuch was at breakfast😱😱 That made our stay perfect 😁
- NBAftaIV (10/5): Found this wonderful place to stay in Bangkok. - Excellent hotel B&B in a quiet "no car or Tuk-Tuk access" street on the side of the canal in Bangkok.
Just far enough away from the Kho San madness to be peaceful and convenient.
Six floors with a lift, canal side terrace. Helpful staff, good highspeed wifi throughout.
So good that we have rebooked for next year already!
- Valerie (10/5): - Cute and convenient
- Danny (8/5): - Nice place, nice staff
- Flyer24588655957 (8/5): Extra helpful employees - Room super clean!!
The guys at the reception also great!!! I got to the hotel in my first day and realized I had lost my phone back at the taxi airport. I was very lucky, Suon and lorn helped during long hours recovering it!!!
Great experience. Super recommend :)
- Adrian (10/5): Excellent Hotel in Great Location - I think that was my fourth time at Korbua. Always a great place to stay. From the friendly staff to the great location you’ll enjoy a few days at Korbua.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Friendly as always - Everyone working there always smiled to us whenever we passed by.
Thank you for the 'welcome' feeling!
- Jodie (10/5): - Love staying here on the Canal.
- Jodie (10/5): - Love staying here at Korbua House.Staff are very friendly and helpful. We will be back.😊
- lucacA2403AC (10/5): Great accommodation for a wonderful stay in Bangkok! - We had a wonderful stay at Korbua House! The staff was nice and organized for us a visit to Ayutthaya. We enjoyed nice breakfasts on the terrace with a relaxing view over the river, and will definitely come back again. Along the river there are many nice restaraunts with great food and welcoming staff, which add to the quality of the area. Perfect to relax after a night out in Khao San Road or Thanon Ram Buttri, 10 minutes away by foot.
- Victoria (10/5): - Had an elevator for easy hotel access. Room was clean and shower was hot with good pressure. Bed was hard but large sized, could have used a mattress topper for comfort. Air conditioner worked well. There is a canal smell when windows are open, but the A/c does a good job of removing it.
- KittyK950 (10/5): Still the same - We went back to stay at Korbua House after 5 years and found it was still as good. Staff were very friendly and helpful, rooms very clean, we stayed in the standard canal view room, close to Ko San Road but far enough away for noise. Plenty of places close by for eating.
- Maureen (10/5): - The hotel is spotless as was the room. The staff was wonderful and friendly. They even arranged an airport taxi for me!
- Daniel (10/5): - 😁
- James (10/5): What a first trip to Bangkok - Great staff. Property had a great spot and open air atop right on canal. Drinks were very inexpensive. Right out front door a street vendor sold sticky rice for 40 cents. Hotel was close to Khoason road, a nightly food market, and daytime street market.
The inn off buss picks you up 1 block from property. Also very close to many cultural attractions
- leif (8/5): Mr L - Bra lugnt läge o trevlig personal
- ionag355 (8/5): Perfect location and great value with helpful, friendly staff. - Perfect location, literally a few minutes walk into the lovely street of Rambuttri Alley. Super friendly and helpful staff. Rooms and bathroom perfectly functional at great value.
It seems that all toilets in Thailand are a no toilet paper zone - it has to go in a bin which is a bit odd but you sort of get used to it.
We had laundry done in a day.
No food on site but not an issue as so many places to get breakfast and anything else a few minutes away. Defo recommend.
- 760nikitag (8/5): Good location, smelly canal! - The hotel is in a wonderful location, and there are very attendant and helpful staff.
The canal is quite smelly, which is something to be aware of as the hotel is right on the canal. Also the room is quite basic but very pleasant.
- niccig2017 (6/5): Great location - room and hotel clean. Though outside air smells - This is cheap and cheerful, clean and 5 mins walk to Khaosan rd, Rambuttri village, so you have peace and quiet. It’s a safe walking distant. I was a solo female Traveller and felt safe here and when I walked back home from the abI’ve two roads.
- JMJF1989 (6/5): Decent secluded hotel that would have scored higher had it not been for the smell from the drains/river! - The hotel itself is quite good. The service was very friendly (always welcomed everytime we returned) and they accommodated our request to be on a higher floor. Our room was big and the bed comfortable but unfortunately the bathroom window was jammed open and couldn’t be closed. The location is great as it’s close to the Khao San Road and all of the nightlife but it’s secluded so it’s quiet. However the hotel is right by the river which is nice to see the fish (we also saw a massive monitor lizard) but it absolutely stinks every now and again. There are also some drains/sewers outside of the hotel which also smell, however these are all over Bangkok. We would have scored much higher had it not have been for the smell of the river and jammed bathroom window (meaning the smell came in to our room).
- 701jasperp (6/5): Nice room and location, NO Wi-Fi, smelly.. - I stayed 3 nights here.
Firstly the good stuff, this place is reasonably priced and location is great for the tourist area 3mins walk away. This place, next to the canal, is very quiet with no external noise in the hotel at all. The room I had overlooking the canal was big, comfortable, with nice bathroom and everything very clean.
However, the smell from the canal makes eating in the open restaurant or even sitting and having a beer almost impossible. As soon as you leave you're room the smell hits you.
There is No Wi-Fi. They tell you there is, you can the see the router on each floor on you're phone with good connection but there was no bandwidth at all, my phone was never able to connect. Every time I went pass reception I asked about it, everytime I was ignored. Then on the last morning I complained again and was finally put on a totally different connection, which worked, a bit. Nowadays Wi-Fi is essential, and they don't provide it. Please don't believe them when they say they do.
The staff here are some of the most unfriendly I've ever experienced in Thailand. The last morning I had a shuttled bus booked at 8am. At 7.40am i asked about breakfast and said I eat fast. The guy behind the bar told me the chief was slow and this was not possible. There's was no one else waiting for food, 1 couple had finished eating. I was offered nothing, not even a smile. Just ignored. And the bus was 20mins late.....
The room I had, 204, was right next to some machinery in the room next door which fired up on s regular basis. I paid extra for a better room too. Earplugs essential. And the canal view is pointless unless you want to smoke.
There are so many choices in Bangkok, why bother with them when they certainly can't be bothered about you. If you just want a quiet hard bed and nothing else, then maybe give it a try. I won't be back.
- Jessica (8/5): Three night stay - Just completed a 3 night stay at the Korbua hotel in Bangkok. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. We had a canal view room and whilst fairly basic it had everything we needed (considering you don’t spent that much time in your room when visiting Bangkok). Every member of staff was pleasant and polite especially at breakfast, house keeping would also leave a bag of essentials (toilet roll and bottled water) outside your room when you left the do not disturb sign on.
Had seen a couple of comments about a smell in an around the hotel, while we did notice this it is no fault of the hotel - I think it is just from the general vicinity and you can’t expect much less when visiting a city in that kind of heat.
The location was fantastic, within walking distance of attractions like the grand palace, wat pho. It is also a 5-10 minute walk from the Khao San area without all of the noise at night time!
The only negative is that we did hear some noise from other guests at night time. This is not because guests were particularly loud, it was just the acoustics of the rooms/floors. It was only the opening/closing of room doors etc so not a big disturbance.
Overall a pleasant stay and we would return if in Bangkok again.
- Cathy (8/5): - I liked the location along the canal with the eating patio. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. Our room was small and no view but adequate
. Don't book through expeidia as I thing you get a better price as people I heard did. Otherwise quiet side close to Khaosan rd street market.
- S.R. (8/5): - Great location, near by million of street food. Easy transportation.
- Victor (8/5): fect except the shower drain - Everything was great. The rooms were really nice and so was the bathrooms. Great location too. Walking distance from Khao San Road but far enough to be quiet from the late nightlife. Only issue was the drainage in the shower. Don’t know if it specific to our room but the shower drain did not work very well and the water puddled if your shower took longer than 5 minutes. That was unfortunate because otherwise I would of considered it a perfect stay.
- Jenny (10/5): - The staff was the most welcoming and accommodating. Great location too!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We were both very comfortable the service and the staff were exellant it just felt like home we were very saticfide .we will be going back again
- MattMetcalf (8/5): Would stay again - Great location for tourist streets of Khaosan, and on the river with the huge fish and not overlooked. Close to the lomprayah bus stop. Rooms are good but the one I had was small for the money. Had a good American breakfast, staff are super friendly. If you get a good last minute price on agoda it's worth it.
- Christopher (10/5): - Friendly staff and a good location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - i was given the refreshing canal view with my quite roomy accommodation - peaceful with amenities and hygiene as promised. Food at the premises was very good, anyway the address is historically delightful and public transport is very handy - businesswise and touringwise.
Thanks to the Korbua-Staff!
Dommage
- Verified traveler (8/5): Yummy experience - A lot of good eating places around.
- BJMcI (6/5): Great little hotel but for one... - This is a great little hotel for budget price in a great location. Yes canal smells a bit, it was 37-9 degrees most of time, but as it has more fish in it than Christ needed on the mount it must be reasonable clean. I got big room with balcony but given temp outside its only used to hang our your washing...or if you smoke.
Unfortunately this place list points from me because of one particular member of staff. He was there every day, morning on desk but, from day one, he was rude, unsmiling as if you were an inconvenience. This worsened when the friend I was visiting in Thailand arrived to spend couple days with me. First breakfast she was there he was openly unhappy to serve her to the point she asked him in Thai if he had a problem. He just walked away and when she asked other staff they looked embarrassed. She explained this was probably because I was from West and she was Thai and some look down on this.
Most of this happened in a language and culture unfamiliar to me but if this attitude happened at home in Scotland I suspect fights may ensue.
I was pretty disgusted at this being accepted in hotel and can only assume the member of staff is family as he is in the wrong business..
I found all Thai people so helpful and friendly but this bloke was exception.
Yes I'd recommend but beware morning male reception!!!

- ulrike (10/5): Perfect Stay in Bangkok - It was fantastic
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Michel (6/5): - Diidn't start well. I had to try 3 rooms (dirty bedsheet, no Wifi)
Finally got a good one. The staff helped me.
Good location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Korbua House is located in a safe and quiet area, close to Khaosan Road and lots of local food stands and restaurants. Room are spacious and clean and hotel staff is doing everything to make it a good holiday. The canal boats are taking you to the river two minutes away from the hotel. We will go back.
- Martin (2/5): Sleepless in Korbua - Dogs barking 24/7 no sleep wot so ever
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quiet place in a tourist area - A bit old. Balcony door doesn't latch securely. Otherwise, a good enough stay, with a lot of food wagons in the neighborhood.
- Sharla (8/5): Good stay for the price - Friendly staff. Building could use some maintenance but overall was good for the price. Room was adequately clean, could have been done a bit better but I do have high standards. Area has a lot of shops and restaurants to walk to. Quiet but close to khoa san road. Alley and canal do have a fishy smell but didn’t bother us in the room. It was nice to look out the balcony and watch the fish in the canal and the workers/monks passing by. The room was smaller but had everything you needed, small mini bar selection, unbrellas, water, etc. We thought it was great having a 24 hour front desk for our early morning check in. The bartender made an excellent mojito!
- LAURENT (6/5): - Accueil toujours excellent..
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Well located, right next to a canal right in the middle of things. Very comfortable room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Close to Kao San Road - The location of the hotel was good. The hotel and facilities were good. We had a problem with the air conditioning and had to change rooms. Would recommend this hotel.
- BABY244 (4/5): AVIS MITIGE selon la catégorie de chambre choisie - Hôtel sans piscine, au calme, au bord du canal ;
- HOTEL SIAM II,
- HOTEL NEW SIAM PALACE VIEW
- Bob (2/5): Dogs barking all night - Staff and location was good. Dogs outside barked all night, they were tied up. Got no sleep at hotel. I tried to change rooms to other side of hotel but was full. Terrible experience
Svindel - Jeg booket hotelet for 3 dager.
- Wendy (8/5): Good hotel - Good location, good value, don't worry about the canal smell, not sure what people were complaining about.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Humble hotel extermely friendly staff - The hotel is in good location in the old town close to Khao San road and buses to Sukumvit and wherever you want to go. We chose a room with canal view which I personally thing was a waste as the canal actually stinks(not the hotels fault obviously). Room size and comfort is really good, location fantastic if you want to stay in the real Bangkok and not in a skyscraper
- Adrian (8/5): Great Hotel - Back Next Time - Good Hotel, well appointed, everything worked, clean, nice view over the canal, good staff, room was a little small but not really a problem, fantastic location, handy to every thing you want to see but off the street and quiet. We'll stay again.
- Alice (8/5): - Great stay here, close to Khao San road but you down get noise all night! Very clean room and was nice to have a balcony
- igor (8/5): Good location near old Bangkok! - Very good location; short walk to Kao San Road. Many restaurants/bars near the hotel. Large rooms & clean and friendly staff. Very good and nice hotel in a peacful area.
- Benjamin (8/5): Great to see central Bangkok - Great 1 night stay, friendly staff, wrong room was given to us but didn't matter too much.
- Amy (8/5): - Location can't be beat. Two streets away from Khao San Road and street vendors so you will never go hungry.
Staff were patient and helpful
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - Balcony overlooks the canal. Smelly at times but always very interesting to watch the monitor lizards swimming along.
- Richard (8/5): Nice Hotel - The hotel for me was a good fit as far as value. My room was clean and the staff were very nice. I did get tired of walking through the alley in front of the hotel. It smells.
- Robert (6/5): Adequate, but cool location - Room had everything you need, looking right on one of the canals. Which on the one hand was cool, but might be cooler on the upper floors. On the second floor there was always a funky smell that might have been from the canal water. The bathroom reeked of it but I just kept the door closed.
Good price for the value.
I like that this hotel is walking distance to many of the sights and just across the canal are some great touristy restaurants including a Canadian poutine place.
Staff was friendly but not very helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Korbua House - great location and price point - Korbua House was in a perfect Bangkok location (Banglamphu neighborhood), minutes from bars and restaurants but tucked away on a quiet street facing a canal. We loved how we could cross over the small pedestrian bridge in be in a more residential neighborhood (Samsen) which had great little restaurants and bars. The staff at Korbua were very kind and accommodating. I would highly recommend this hotel for its location, amenities and price point.
- Jamie (10/5): Sweet and Easy - This is the perfect distance to tap into Khao San Rd without being overcome by it. The online pics are accurate; it's sweet and simple, with polite service and basic rooms. The canal does stink; there's no denying it. But you can't smell it in the room, so it didn't really bother me. And it is down a little side street that leads to a cross-canal bridge, but the street has vendors and locals who aren't the least bit threatening. For the price, I may have been able to find something even better, but I wa satisfied with this little spot.
- igor (10/5): ""Perfect location, Clean and comfortable"" - This hotel has a very good location (near the Kao San Road). You just walk down the river where you can take a boat to visit the old center. In this hotel you can 100% sleep well -> with no street noise. Our room was nice&clean, with a beautiful balcony (overlooking the canal). We recommend the Korbua house for the great location, clean and nice room and a quiet environment (with a perfect view!)
- Verified traveler (10/5): I heart Korbua House. - Overall I had a great experience there. The front staff were all so friendly and helpful. The food was quite delicious also. The room was comfortable, I stayed on the 4th floor in room # 402 and would gladly stay there again.
- Alexander (10/5): Value for money hotel - The hotel was value for money. I stayed in their executive room which was high above the canal so there were no bad smells.
The staff were all friendly and the area was safe. It was next to the major temples and made them easy to visit. A short ride up the canals and all the major shopping malls were within easy reach.
- Stephen C. (6/5): Pricey guest house without amenities.. - For the price, it is not really worth it..I have stayed around this area at cheaper rates and better facilities..Oh not forgetting, it came with breakfast..!
I paid for breakfast once and that's all I will ever wanted to..Breakfast is lousy and coffee is not even the fresh brewed type..
There is no writing desk & the luggage bag is placed on the floor. Each time you need to get something you have to squat down to the luggage bag..Furniture provision is way below par.
The housekeeping and cleanliness is below par..WIFI is really bad based on the 21st century technology..ha ha ha..
- nith (6/5): Hotel near to canal - Rooms are clean and news but due to it's location near canal there will be a putrid smell. That's the only disadvantage. Otherwise staffs are so helpful and you will not be lost.
