Guest Reviews
- Lara (1/5): Fraud/scam - Careful! This is scam! Booked but there was no room available when we arrived. They blamed it on the old owner who did not deactivate the offer on booking.com. Still haven‘t got my money back, nor an answer.
- Philip (1/5): Fraud - Nothing. It’s fraud. Tried to check in, no room available.
- Stephen (1/5): Bad -
- Graham (3/5): Very poor standard of accommodation, overpriced and no refund for the food they could not provide - Nothing. Everything. It was looking very tired, the sign on the front had half fallen off, the window frames were rotting and we had to enter and leave via a drab rear fire exit. The rooms were very basic, cheaply furnished and the bed was very soft and uncomfortable. Bed linen was old and worn. The bathroom door didn’t close properly. There was just one bottle of economy liquid soap in the bathroom. The room smelt dusty.
We didn’t see the host. He contacted us earlier to say there was a problem with the kitchen so we couldn’t eat in or have breakfast. He offered a refund, but none has been forthcoming in spite of my reminding him.
Overall the property was very rundown and not in a fit state to be accepting guests.
- Richard (7/5): Nice traditional country pub with views across the countryside - Lovely location in the centre of the village. Good food, nice bar and friendly staff Wifi didn’t reach the room and soap not supplied in the bathroom
- Elizabeth (7/5): Good - Spacious room with 2 chairs, hooks on the back of the door The pub shut at 10.00pm and wd were entirely alone until we left at 08.00 the next morning. We had to leave via the fire escape as the pub was locked!!!
- Jodene (8/5): Very good - Great place to stay.. lovely, friendly staff, room was clean and just what u needed. Breakfast was amazing... would stay again.
- Volodymyr (8/5): Very good -
- Jennifer (7/5): Good - Good size rooms, drawer space excellent, and bed. Quiet location. Great TV 's. Green fire alarm light shining in our eyes during the night, extremely bright! Toilet seat loose and finish on it peeling. Window frames dirty. No soap on wash basin in ensuite. Blind damaged in ensuite and lighting cord broken, no acorn.
Carpet in the stairs area very dirty.
Generally, it's a good clean and some tlc needed.
- Sam (8/5): Very good -
- Xia (1/5): Bad - the sun shone No where ro hag clothes. Stayed 4 nights, room not cleaned, towels not changed, waste bin not emptied.
Internal fire door locked.
Staff not very friendly.
- Martyn (1/5): Cold is the atmosphere at Coldstreamers - The only thing I liked room was clean. The staff weren't helpful had a few sentences about were room was and breakfast times when stated we wouldn't be there for breakfast as leaving at 5am got told to be quiet and use first escape as there is no staff on site once pub shuts so if you need anything during the night your left to fend for yourself. Thought as we weren't there for breakfast they may of offered a slight refund or maybe a evening meal in exchange but nothing we went into Penzance for a meal because we didn't get told the pub does food only found out when got back. There was no hot water in the shower there were two extension leads as power supply had to put kettle on floor to connect to power supply. It was clean but even had to ask for cups to make coffee in very poor housekeeping definitely not worth the £133 for the one night with no breakfast.
- Catherine (9/5): Lovely discovery. - Enjoyed our time in the bar. Chatting to local people from the village. Also a couple who had come from The Netherlands.
The bathroom was very nice.
- Adam (8/5): Definitely a great place to go ig staying in Penzance - Stayed in the twin room with my daughter as we were down for a tennis tournament. In arrival the staff were a little under trained sadly (which could be improved) but were satisfied with the B&B. In fact its a lovely place! The room was extremely well kept and lovely. The breakfast was superb!
The only negative is the water pressure from the shower. It really needs vast improvement and is the only thing, along with the staff who lacked personality and warmth, that stopped me from giving this lovely B&B a 10 out of 10.
- David (8/5): Very good. Quiet room in a quiet location - Breakfast was excellent Breakfast could of maybe started a bit earlier
- Chloe (6/5): Pleasant - It was a decent stay for the 1 night we needed it for as we were going to see lands end firework display magic in the skies.
- Fb (1/5): Disappointed with the whole experience. - The location was good for what we wanted to do. The interior is very run down and lacks any ambiance. We booked for 3 nights but decided to stay for just two. Breakfast was painfully slow and the staff member serving that morning didn’t have any idea of Customer service. I don’t blame her it’s the management that should see what is going on in their business and give their staff training and at the same time spend some money on the place so people want to stay there.
- Richard (6/5): Good location, but a mixed experience. - The location was good and the family room was nice. The second room had a broken bed, which the staff managed to replace, although it was clear the issue had been raised by previous guests. Breakfast was good. Main meals were not great. The experience with the broken bed was unfortunate. For the price paid it did not feel like value for money.
- Reid (9/5): Superb - Friendly staff and great room in an old pub. Fantastic little village close to Penzance Nothing
- Lorna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Siyao (8/5): A nice place to stay if walking isn't a problem - While there's a 25-min walk from The Coldstreamer to the centre of Penzance, the location was very quiet and the distance wouldn't have been a problem if people are driving. The breakfast was really good, more tasty than the full breakfast you get from Central London. Would recommend for families and couples looking for a relaxed holiday The towels didn't smell super fresh so we didn't use them and there weren't any toiletries (e.g., shampoo, shower gel etc.) but I guess it was a bed and breakfast so facilities shouldn't be fully expected. Part of the 25-min walk to the centre of Penzance is on roads so didn't feel the safest but all cars were driving pretty carefully
- Andrew (10/5): Very friendly greeting upon arrival, spacious room with every comfort. - The friendly staff, wonderful pub. Nothing
- Jacklyn (7/5): Good - Friendly staff, good breaky and cheap drinks. Room wasnt properly serviced, missing coffee cups and dirty bins when we checked in. Green exit light always on, very hard to ignore when going to sleep.
- Jayne (9/5): Great stay in a lovely location ! - The location was perfect and customer service was friendly and attentive . Breakfast was great with a good selection! Nothing
- Clare (1/5): Bad -
- Melanie (7/5): We had to leave early this morning as catching a ferry to the Scilly Isles. Therefore we couldn’t have breakfast but wor - The Coldstreamer was welcoming.
Ideal situation to where we needed to be Staff friendly
- Nathan (10/5): Great staff fantastic room in an ideal location - Friendly owner with great local insight food was fantastic and the room was incredible with great views
- Catherine (7/5): Good value for money , just minutes from Penzance. - Very pretty village and buildings.
Nice atmosphere. Basic pub food and wine list.
- James (2/5): Not good - The bed and the pillows. I cannot recommend this place. This was a most disappointing hotel. On arrival at 8 p.m. there was a sign on the bar that the kitchen was closed; apparently some kitchen issue occured just before we arrived but that's not what other guests said. The bedroom was reasonable and the bed comfortable but there was no shower or other bathroom products provided, the washstand and bedside lights did not work, we had to ask for toilet paper, there was no suitcase stand and to top it all, the route to the main exit was locked at 10 p.m. and we were expected to navigate a dimly lit upstairs, downstairs route through a fire escape let's with beer barrels to another locked door. The host was clearly a stressed one man band as he was on his own in the evening and he appeared in a chef's top to cook breakfast, which was very average. The whole place had the air of being run down: no staff and low on stock. There was so much wrong.
- Karen (9/5): nice and very accommodating - lovely friendly and the staff were very accommodating choice of alcohol and over all selection of drinks was in poor supply
- Tara (10/5): Exceptional - Its was lovely place I would stay again
- Tamara (9/5): Gorgeous hotel and pub! - Beautiful room with lovely view! The staff were friendly and were happy to answer any questions we had, and to share the history of the pub. Outstanding comfortable bed and very large room with en suite. Very dog friendly and had water all over for them. Nothing, I loved staying here.
- Roman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Valerie (7/5): Easy parking and quite convenient for Penzance - Comfortable bed. Easy parking Apart from a cooked breakfast there was no fruit or yogurt or fresh juice offered. No marmalade for toast.
Rubbish bin in bedroom not emptied after previous occupants.
Food in restaurant wasn’t great.
- Dale (9/5): Superb - Staff were friendly and attentive, evening meal and entertainment were great.
- Eric (9/5): Superb -
- Kris (9/5): We enjoyed our stay and would have booked second night if there had been availability. - Very nice, comfortable room/bathroom. Nice to have food available on property and a place to park.
- Joshua (8/5): Very good - Good location good for digs are just
