• Christine (10/5): Inclusiveness that can’t be matched! The young people who work there make it magical! - I can’t say enough good about the HI Banff alpine centre. What makes this place AMAZING is the young adults who work there :) Though I’m hardly “a youth” I stayed at the hostel because it was affordable and also I wanted to stay slightly out of town as I prefer a quieter vibe. The location was absolutely perfect for me in that regard. Walking into town was a good cardio session and is doable (if you like a walk) and I definitely enjoyed the quieter atmosphere up on tunnel mountain. There were access points to hikes and also my view out the window of my room (312) was so pretty. I was working a conference in Banff and I’d come back in the afternoon and watch the sun shift over the mountains as I lay in my super comfy bed! It was perfect! Also the whole place is SO SO CLEAN! I travel a lot for work and stay at hotels like the Hilton and Mariott and this hostel is every bit as clean. I actually found sharing a bathroom just fine as I really never saw anyone in the bathroom anyhow and it was so clean! I did want to hang out a bit while in Banff and enjoy some nightlife and the hostel had wonderful events in the time I was there. I attended a paint and sip which was so lovely and wholesome; the local artist who played music on her guitar had a beautiful voice and we all were given watercolours and watercolour paper! It was so peaceful. I also enjoyed a exciting kareoke night and everyone eas having so much fun; the energy was infectious. Although I was older than the average person I felt this was such an inclusive environment. The people were so welcoming and supportive. I went on a hike that was supporting mental health and Jimmy who works at the front desk was one of the guides. He was so sweet and pleasant and supportive. He gave us banana muffins and had excellent PR skills. A very sweet person. Also the food in the cafe is very good. I never ate anywhere! My whole experience at the hostel was perfect and memorable. Nothing!

• Petr (8/5): Nice atmosphere - The location is great and I really liked that the restaurant is right next to the common area, which makes everything very convenient and easy to access. The overall atmosphere was nice and the place has a good vibe. The main downside was the noise from the hallway, which was quite noticeable and sometimes disruptive. Also, the WiFi was extremely slow, which made it difficult to use for anything beyond basic browsing.
• Ross (7/5): This hostel is clean and well-equipped. - My private room was comfortable and secure. I was able to plug my electronics into the extension cord that ran under the bed. I knew that I would have to share a bathroom, so that was fine. The hostel is located a 30 minute walk from downtown. It is served by a bus that comes every 30-40 minutes I wonder if the room could have been rearranged so that the plug wasn't at the opposite end of the room from the head of the bed. That would have reduced the tripping hazard. I was disturbed between 2 and 3 in the morning by noisy neighbours. In their room and in the hallway, they were disrespectful of the hour and talked a lot, clomped down the hallway, etc. However, the front desk staff were great about receiving my concerns and giving me a refund for the night.
• Mark (8/5): Convenient and affordable option in Banff. - This hostel is an affordable, convenient option in Banff. The staff is very helpful and responsive. The room is on the smaller side but the beds are confortable and there is a decent amount of storage with both one drawer and a locker allocated to each person. The shared bathrooms are functional with decent shower pressure and four sinks available. Although the hostel is located a mjle from the city center, free busses run every 20 minutes to downtown. From here, it's easy to catch one of the many bus options to Lake Louise, Sunshine, or Norquay. Keep in mind that it takes about a 45 minutes to get up to Sunshine and around 1 hour to get to Lake Louise from Banff. On another positive note, the food in the attached cafe was tasty and convenient. I ordered the Sunshine breakfast bagel and coffee every day to save time before hitting the slopes. If your here to ski or board, this place is a good hub to choose. Just remember that your in a shared-room hostel. So, if snoring, late night arrivers and/or early wakers bother you, it may not meet your needs. If your OK with this, and use earplugs and a night mask, sleeping will be possible.

• Pin Yu (7/5): It was ok. - The price is great. They provide a workspace for people, a nice lobby area for socialization, and great enforcement of quiet time. The place is clean, just not sure how clean it is when they're cleaning one bed at a time instead of the whole room. When I checked in, there was a dirty mug left on the table from a previous guest. And the staff wasn't the nicest to me, but it is what I paid for. Instructions were unclear and I couldn't find my room at first, but she was done talking to me.

Basic kitchen cooking ingredient like oil and salt and pepper weren’t supplied. You had to buy a huge proportion coated to home ping you were staying and then went to waste. Doesn’t seem very economical or planet friendly.

• HEEJEONG (8/5): - 친절한 직원분들의 설명과 인사가 하루를 즐겁게 해주었고 공용화장실을 걱정했는데 언제 청소했지 싶을만큼 중간중간 갈 때마다 청소가 되어있어서 만족스러웠습니다. 공용주방에는 다양한 식기들과 요리할 수 있는 공간이 넓어서 좋았습니다. 그리고 매일 다양한 프로그램들이 많아서 숙소에서 있어도 편하게 즐길 수 있었고 방도 따뜻해서 좋았어요. 밖에 해먹과 의자들도 자연을 느끼기 최적화되어있어 만족스러웠습니다~! 공용주방에 젓가락이 없어서 아쉬웠습니다. 그래도 나무젓가락을 챙겨간 보람을 느끼긴 했어요~ 3층의 공용화장실은 샤워칸이랑 화장실칸이 2칸씩 밖에 없고 드라이기는 하나 뿐이라 기다려야했지만 화장실에 예민한 저는 깔끔해서 만족스러웠답니다!

There was an ensuite bathroom in the room which was convenient. There were several showers on each floor too, if you needed to shower. N/A it was perfect for my travel plans.

• Tyler (2/5): Disappointed - The location was great, very close to downtown. The neighborhood was safe and quiet. Staff was exceptional also. The male roommates I was bunked with were very loud and all came barging into room at 1 AM while I was trying to sleep. Room was very warm and difficult to get comfortable as well. No AC in rooms. Also the top bunk I slept on had a loose screw on the top step without noticing at first and it ripped my hoodie while climbing down the ladder when initially making the bed.

Toller Balkon und Außenbereich mit Sitzgelegenheiten. Staff ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Matratzen sind sehr dünn oder durchgelegen- die könnten wieder einmal getauscht werden. Der Preis für ein Hostel ist recht hoch- aber Banff ist generell teuer. Man hört die Türen und die wenn jemand im Gang geht (Ohropax!) 😁

• mike (10/5): HI Banff is conveniently located on the bus line with the most fantastic views and stupendous staff. - The rooms were kept very clean. The kitchen was well stocked and mostly clean. The staff was very good about cleaning up after disrespectful guests. Overall, I can't say enough good things about the staff. I was quite a bit older than most of the guests, and the staff did a fantastic jog ensuring I was well cared for. Carrie, Ja, Matthew, Jodie, Jimmy, Danny, Louis, Louie, Beth, Caitlin, Blaze...I can't name them all. Just fantastic. The showers in the older building were hard for me to use. The newer showers with the bench worked much better. One recommendation would be to add grab rails in the showers. Also, coffee before 7am would be nice. I, as well as many other early risers were looking for a cup before reading out for the day.
• Jasdeep (7/5): Delightful. - I liked the building itself, with all the facilities. Staff were great, kitchen was good and so was the restaurant. Bedroom was a tight squeeze, found out after if you ask to go into the other building you get a better bigger room with better beds and as I was there for a week I would have thought they should have given me this without me finding out about it on my second to last day.
