- Kay (10/5): - It suited us for our walking holiday. Food at the pub was good although a little on the expensive side. Hosts were very helpful and nice. The cost of the food and soft drinks added to the cost of the room but I guess in a small location you have to be thankful for the availability of the meals.
- James (8/5): Great - Great Nothing really

- john (9/5): The ultimate and iconic end of the Pennine Way and the welcome, food and facilities do not disappoint. - The ultimate location to stay when walking the Pennine Way as this is the official end and has the log book, certification and free half pint. Very clean and comfortable with excellent facilities and quality evening meal and breakfasts. I couldn’t find any faults.

- James (10/5): A great place to stay - Comfortable room, great food and staff. Located at the end point of the Pennine Way. Perfect for my stay in Kirk Yetholm. No problems.
- Ben (7/5): Average - Pretty average, comfy enough, slept ok. Room with no view, window straight into wall of house next door. Could easily have been avoided, hotel was not full.
- K (3/5): Freezing cold. Over priced. - Lovely staff Freezing cold. Heating off shivering in bed.
Basly in need or redecoration
- Diana (9/5): Beautiful stay in lovely countryside - Lovely pub with rooms. Very helpful and friendly owners- such a nice welcome The hearing was broken sadly, but the owners were so helpful and gave us a greater for the room so we were cosy. There was a real fire in the bar too.
- Colin (8/5): Would go back - It was lovely staff very friendly Next to the borders visitors friendly

- patricia (8/5): - Breakfast was excellent
- Joanne (8/5): - Location excellent for the end of the Pennine Way Quite expensive in comparison to other hotels on the Pennine Way, but appreciate maybe that’s due to its location.
- Graham (1/5): - Got a text when I was 15 mins away that it was cancelled due to a leak which was a lot of rubbish as we were notified by someone local in the village that they were renovating the place and it had been shut looking before the day of arrival. This could have been a disaster for me as I was due to start an event the next morning in the village. They could have let me know long before the day off check in that the room was available, totally unacceptable!

- Kristopher (10/5): We had a lovely stay at the Borders hotel, dog friendly, staff very welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us, excellent. - Lovely location, great welcoming staff, dog friendly, comfortable room N/A

- Alex (8/5): Could not fault the food staff or ambience of the hotel. - Fabulous. Rooms a bit warmer.
- Michael (10/5): - Lovely warm welcome after a tough day on The Cheviots. The fire was on, the beer was great, the food was tasty and our room was comfortable.
- Susan (9/5): Nice stay, pleasant helpful staff, nice location, we will be back. Parking on site. - Staff was pleasant and helpful, bar and meal was fine, nice real log fire in the bar, bedroom small but clean and plenty on hot water, a good size TV. Breakfast was a large cooked breakfast with options of continental breakfast, yogurts, cereals and toast, juices etc. The bedroom and en-suite was warm. Quiet location. I would have liked a super king sized bed, which is what I have at home, the bed was a normal size double and very small and very squeaky. Which, I would have been prepared to pay a little extra for. Everything else was fine.
- Sian (6/5): A pleasant stay in a beautiful location - Beautiful location.
Friendly staff, who upgraded our room after a misunderstanding which we were extremely grateful for. Food was pleasant. Beds very comfortable. Would have been nice for the radiators to be turned on in the rooms before arrival as the rooms were freezing. Same in the morning at breakfast. Felt like we would not enjoy our breakfast because the room was so cold.
- Chris (10/5): - Great location, great staff and great food and drink.
- Fiona (7/5): Nice quiet location with food available - Good location to beautiful mountains Single quilts on single beds. Quilts didn’t stay on
- William (10/5): - Everything Nothing
- Anson (7/5): Great location to stay overnight when coming off the Pennine Way - This is a great location to stay when you come off the Pennine Way in Kirk Yetholm. It is a really friendlly pub, with accommodation above it. The pub had a real fire going which I loved.
- Stephen (10/5): -
- David (10/5): Ace - Cosy place with great beer and grub
- Amanda (10/5): - The Border Hotel holds a special place in our hearts. Julie and James make your stay feel personal and special. A very warm and welcoming experience.
- Dennis (8/5): -
- Popescu (8/5): Lovely Scottish pub, we keep coming back - It wasn't our first time - we come almost yearly for our friend's Diwali party. The rooms are comfortable and the staff are lovely and very helpful. The breakfast is great, nice Scottish full breakfast, all you need after a party, with plenty of coffee. The views, no matter which room you've booked, are stunning, and we always wish we had more time to explore a bit more around the area. There's also a pub if need be. The heating didn't come on as expected, so it was a tad cool overnight. However, staff are always helpful and have taken on board any feedback we had before, so I am sure this will be fixed in no time.
- Lynne (9/5): - Lovely staff. Great breakfast and dinner. Nice surrounding area and easy drive in to Kelso and other Borders towns.
- Phil (9/5): - Very quiet and comfortable room. James and Julie were wonderful. A bit over my budget.
- Dawn (9/5): Comfortable, spacious apartment. A great find. - Comfortable, spacious apartment. The bedding was good quality and and great to sleep in. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone visiting the beautiful village of Kirk Yetholm.
- Chapple (10/5): Homey, warm and inviting village pub and inn. - Really amazing family-run vibe at this place. It really feels like the community hub of the small town it is located in, and is a joy to experience.
- Rebecca (7/5): -
- Jemma (9/5): - Lovely hotel in a quaint town, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, nice pub below Struggled to get shower at one constant temp, fluctuated between hot and cold. Only a small window for breakfast
- Neil (3/5): -
- ROBERT (10/5): Very pleasant stay at the end of our walk. Bath was a bonus Would stay there again - Friendly hosts, spacious rooms and the bath Nothing
- Chris (9/5): -
- Isabelle (8/5): -
- Andy (9/5): - Location, food and owners are delightful
- Robin (7/5): A nice stop over in a nice area. - In a lovely location the owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar had a nice atmosphere with a number of locals in. The bar meals were good and good value. The decor is getting quite tired and could do with refurbishment. But it is what it is and the atmosphere is nice.
- Wendy (10/5): -
- Debbieanne (8/5): A great place to end our Pennine Way adventure - After a very wet day in the hills, there was a boot dryer available, which was wonderful. We also got a very friendly welcome from the young woman behind the bar who promptly gave us certificates for completing the Pennine Way.
- david (8/5): Very enjoyable. - Rooms very comfortable and clean staff excellent. Location fabulous Needed some upgrading decoratively around the building
- Paul (6/5): In the balance whether I would stay there again. - Location and character Price - far too expensive given the nature of the room and in comparison to a similar price room I stayed in night before. Some aspects of the building restored and I found hair in the bath plug hole which I really hate.
- Lauren (8/5): Lovely end to the Pennine Way - Very comfortable stay, lovely breakfast, friendly staff. Would recommend staying here if you're finishing the Pennine Way.
- John (6/5): Staff, food and beer great, room poor. - A warm welcome from the lovely bar staff on completion of the pennine way with the traditional half pint and certificate was very much appreciated. The evening meal was decent and the portions were generous. We had what was badged as a deluxe room (The Cheviot) at a cost of £180 for the night. Whilst the bed was large and comfy, describing the room as deluxe was bare faced cheek. Tiny gap at the end of the bed could only be walked through sideways with a projecting wall light handily placed to bash your head if going for a wee in the night. Towels literally threadbare, stains and marks on the carpet, raggedy ill fitting curtains that look like they're from the 1980's to filthy mouldy pock marked windows, a permanently fixed extension cable to the electrics, a sparse but modern bathroom no hooks for clothes, ill fitting rattly doors with a large gap to the bottom of a supposed fire door. Running a business and investigating in such a remote spot must be hard, but threadbare linen for a £180 is taking the mick.

- Peter (9/5): Gutes Inn - Richtig schön klassisches schottisches Inn.
- lynn (6/5): - The room had everything you needed. Quality tea tray and decent breakfast. Room unbearably hot as the window opens onto the corridor.
Bathroom very tired.
Evening meal very poor. Frozen battered fish. Five bean chilli was bland and claggy.
No offer of condiments etc
- Gillian (5/5): - Staff were very helpful
Definitely more for hikers Overpriced
In need of redecoration....lots of chipped paint.
Quite a wait for evening food which was good pub grub
- Ketley (8/5): -
- Debbie (9/5): - Ideal situation for the end of the Pennie Way challenge. Had lovely evening meal and a great bacon butty in the morning
- Robin (10/5): - Staff were very friendly and helpful.
- Arne (9/5): Sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt, aber total überteuert. - Sehr freundliches Personal. Abendessen hervorragend. Frühstück durchschnittlich.
- Jean-daniel (8/5): Very good - Charming place with friendly staff. At the end of walking the whole Pennine Way, we enjoyed the luxury of a warm bath in the tub. The bed frame was noisy. The ceiling lamp and the shower did not work.
- Danon (9/5): Walking St Cuthbert’s Way. You’ll feel well taken care of staying here. - The owners were so kind. Food was delicious. Room was very comfortable. Great location. Nothing
- Bruce (8/5): Very good -
- Martin (10/5): Fantastic reception after finishing the Oennine way, the brass band was really too much!! - A brilliant end to a amazing journey
- Colin (7/5): Good -
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gill (7/5): Good -
- Andrew (8/5): Great for walkers - Great location for walking the Pennine Way. Comfortable accommodation. It was nice to have a lounge area in the 2 bedroom apartment. Nice bar with good food and beer. Packed lunches are available on request, which was very useful as there are no shops within a 15 minute walk in the wrong direction for the Pennine Way. Good breakfast with veggie options.
- Jeremy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ronnie (8/5): Very good -
- June (9/5): Great place to stay at the end of a long walk - It was very welcoming having just finished the Pennine Way. Food was excellent, service good.We stayed the 2Bed apartment which was great. Waited a bit to check-in, some staff not so knowledgeable but did always find the answer.
- Neil (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (10/5): - This is a lovely hotel with a friendly welcome.
If you've been walking then you'll really appreciate the deep hot bath.
There a nice bar with food service downstairs and breakfast was great.
- Jayne (9/5): Great place to stop at the end of the Pennine Way - We stayed in the Pennine Room which was lovely and a good size (though not much room at the bottom of the bed). The bathroom was large and the shower good. Breakfast was lovely - full Scottish breakfast cooked to order and choice of cereal, fruit and yogurt to start, I booked a double room but was given a twin. However this was quickly sorted out so no problem.
- Martin310 (9/5): Penine Way Finale - Room was vg and comfortable. The staff were coureous and welcoming. A tad pricey
- John (8/5): Great spot, needs to address ventilation in one room. - Great breakfast. Room was too warm at night because it only had a skylight not a window. As it was rainy, the skylight had to be closed. Room too warm
- Steve (7/5): Expensive but perfect location & staff - If you are walking the PW or SCW, this is the place to stay. Amazingly friendly staff. Strong WiFi. Comfortable bed. Top marks for the food generally and especially the savoury cheese sandwich they made me for lunch. Massively overpriced, although in fairness it might be cheaper if booked direct. Rooms vary in quality, apparently. Mine needed a refurb and had paper thin walls. All that said, the staff and location mean I'd stay again.
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michiel (10/5): Exceptional - Staff made an impression, food was terrific, walkers paradise
- Neil (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Gillian (9/5): Superb -
- Caroline (8/5): Great hotel in a beautiful area for walking - A great location for walking the St Cuthberts way. The staff were helpful and very relaxed about our dog. The food was good with big portions.
- Alicia (8/5): Hearty food & a lovely friendly team. - We stayed at the Border Hotel for a couple of nights while walking St Cuthbert’s Way. The bath was a very welcome addition to the bathroom & we certainly made use of it during our stay. The bed was a little too soft & a bit lopsided but after our hikes we slept like logs anyway. This is a no frills hotel but it had everything we needed. Hearty food & a lovely friendly team.
