Guest Reviews
- Benjamin (8/5): Lovely Hotel - I was here last time in 2006. Remains a very good hotel on the beach. However, few guests due to Covid 19 pandemic. The rooms are spacious with good aircon, fridge, toiletries, and large king sized bed. Only issue can be doors banging at night-time but there are many signs asking people to be quiet.
- Prasad (4/5): - this was not for me. Not very nice for me to stay Very unfriendly staff. Check out was delayed due to inexperience and inefficient man in charge at the time (around 10pm on the night of 27 Feb)
- Stewart (8/5): Budget luxury. Great location - Great value for £40 a night with a sea view. Right on a quieter bit of negombo beach with a great selection of beds and benches on the beach. Paid around £1.50 for a large Lion beer bottle. Check in was easy and they got our room ready early as we arrived early due to flight time.
Only big negative was that the booking on hotels.com said a free airport transfer but there was no information on the booking confirmation and none of the telephone numbers worked so we had to pay for a taxi. Staff were all very kind and friendly. Perfect stop on the way in and out of the country
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Starting to look very old now. The Staff are still brilliant and riendly. Very few people there when i checked in Jan 20th, actually quiet full stop in Negombo.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - closer to beach, staff were friendly, we were so comfortable
- Chinthani (2/5): not happy - It was a messy and not clean at all .we booked the hotel according to the pictures on the app . We felt like we were scammed. Very dirty hotel. Wasn’t happy at all .
Garage around the hotel , the pool was dirty . We will never return back . Highly recommend not to stay at the hotel . We had to asked the housekeeper to change our bedding upon for our arrival.
- NA (10/5): - Good easy access open beach attached to hotel..........................
- Stephen (8/5): Great location - Good value hotel great location great breakfast . Nice friendly staff
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Rooms were good view was fantastic service good but a little slow
- Nicolas (6/5): A quick stop over - One of those hotels who probably look very good 25 years ago. Very basic, but nice value when it comes to thr room. Common area are not great. Cheap tho.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - There is nothing to complain about this hotel. Very clean spacious room with all amenities and friendly/courteous staff. I rebooked to stay with them again because I like this place and its worth every penny you spent. Special recognition to Percy for his loving care during my stay.
- allison (6/5): Service needs improvement - Staff decided that 9am was a great time to do loud drilling and construction directly outside of my room, even though only 4 rooms were occupied in the entire hotel. Called to reception one night for water and was told I would have to go down to the desk to retrieve it myself. The room itself was nice but the service was lacking and I will stay elsewhere next time.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Nothing
On arrival they didn’t even have our booking we had to email them our Wotif confirmation
The room had no drinking water we had to purchase
The breakfast was very ordinary
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dissapointing - The hotel loks fine in the pictures but in reality it is outdated and dirty . The bed is terrible .
- Verified traveler (8/5): By the beach - By the beach. Courteous staff. Amenities were good though not state of the art.
- math (8/5): Nice location and comfortable - Well we stayed one night can’t tell much about it but food wise very good and reasonable prices
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good for a quick overnight stay - Hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful. It’s not a luxury hotel. Modest breakfast but tasty. Bit noisy with kids running around in the corridor. It served our purpose as we arrived on a flight at 3 am and left later in the day.
- Lori (10/5): Very nice hotel - Very impressed with this place. Loved the pool! We would definitely stay here again.
- Kevin (2/5): Solo traveller. - Lift didnt work and no wifi. The staff tried to fix but it was poor signal or non existant. Veey frustrating as I required it for work purposes and it was advertised on hotels part. The swimming pool was good but overall a very dated hotel in need of updating/facelift.
- lesley (10/5): - I will be coming back and would recommend to anyone to stay. The pool is tremendous.
- jk (6/5): - Unpleasant as room was dusty and dirty. Existing guests were complaining
- mary (8/5): michigan, usa - the hotel was clean , nice pool, great buffet. location was convenient for us to book a 9 day tour. the pirate bar is fun and they did a nice job decorating for Christmas.
- robert (6/5): Airport stopover - Just an airport stop over
- Aditi (10/5): - VERY WELL LOCATED, STAFF VERY WARM, FOOD IS GOOD
- Kian Wee (8/5): Pro and con - Pro:
1) next to the beach
2) swimming pool
3) comfort room
Con:
1) no phone list to call reception or room service
2) wifi signal is weak
3) staff altitude so so
4) one day has buffet, another day no buffet
5) buffet variety not much

- Louis (8/5): - We have seen the hotel evolving from a modest place in 1991 to a modern hotel with good service, frendly staff, clean rooms and good facilities
- Ivy (8/5): Good beachside location - The balcony door did not lock and I had to insist on being moved to another room. In the second room the safe did not work.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Very average hotel - Our family booking was placed largely from the pictures viewed from their webpage. A few days into our trip it was clear that these pictures were several years out of date and little upkeep had taken place. Most of the staff were friendly and the food was of a good standard but slightly repetitive.
- Mopse (8/5): Beach front - First impressions as you pull up to the hotel are quite poor, but that quickly changes with the great reception and attention given by the staff. Once you walk into reception the full splendour of this hotel can be seen; the swimming pool vista onto the beach, lovely. Rooms were clean and comfortable. It is a good walk into the town centre, but tuk tuks are readily available at a cost of only 200 LKR ( jusy ove £1) I would definately book this hotel again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - TheHotel was quite expensive. The staff were friendly though
- Vivian (2/5): Terrible, Not as Promised - The hotel web site states there are 62 well appointed rooms with wonderful views of the Indian Ocean.
This is not true, 9 of the rooms have wonderful view of wasteland which is used as dumping ground and often as a place to sleep and use as a toilet, the view on opening our curtains after a late arrival on the 1st morning was a man having a poo.
The roof top of the adjacent building is also used to keep pigeons which does make a mess of the balcony and therefore it can not really be used.
The rooms in question are 120 to 122, 220 to 222, 320 to 322.
These rooms are sub standard and not as advertised and should be sold as budget rooms for a much lower cost.
A request for a room change was requested but could not be done, no apology or compensation was offered.
In fairness the grounds and pool were good but it is impossible to get the man having a poo out of my head.
The room I was stuck with (room 220) was not as advertised and tarnished the end of what was a great holiday.
Please accept this a formal complaint and a request for a refund on my 3 night stay. please
- Verified traveler (2/5): Bad smell and antes - Had a bad room left after the first night. Room had bad smell.
- Rebecca (2/5): Disappointing to say the least... - This hotel was not cheap and was unfortunately not good value for the money. The rooms need updating and the breakfast was awful. The only positive was the staff who were very friendly and obliging.
- Roland (10/5): - Friendly staff, good food, close to the airport, good starting point for our Sri Lankan tour.
- Jackie (8/5): Paradise beach stay - Nice hotel, great garden. Staff lovely and polite, nice quite position.
- JOHN (10/5): A holiday in Paradise - We stayed for 14 nights. The hotel is in a good position for all amenities in Negombo. All of the staff made us welcome we felt we were part of a big family. The restaurant food is very good. The Paradise Beach hotel is what the name says it is.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Negombo overnight stay - Stayed overnight in this hotel as arrived via a late night flight . Good basic hotel and value for money for an overnight stay . Buffet breakfast was decent and staff were pleasant .
- Kayla (8/5): - I had a wonderful stay at the Paradise Beach Club! This was actually my second stay here after returning from a group tour and it was nice to be remembered and "welcomed back". The service was fantastic. The omelettes at breakfast were the best I had my entire time in Sri Lanka. If I could just make one suggestion it would be more variety with fruit but perhaps it's better when more fruits are in season. The pool area was also a favourite. All in all, I felt like a very valued guest and if I am fortunate enough to return to Sri Lanka I will stay at the Paradise again :-) thank you.
- Jessica (10/5): Great Hotel - We stayed there on our first night after a long flight; staff were very helpful and easy going; we got a welcome drink upon arrival and our room was ready with a small balcony with a view to the pool. Dinner package was at a great rate per person and there was a huge variety of food and grills. there were also three men playing music which gave the dinner a great ambiance. the Breakfast the next morning also had an amazing variety and you must try their hash potatoes and sausages!
- George (8/5): Another nice stay - Very obliging as I made a mistake one day out with my dates and as I booked a last minute deal i could not cancel with my booking agent. The hotel manager sorted it out for me after a phone call and email
- Verified traveler (6/5): Swimming pool is best feature - This is a tired hotel in need of smartening up. Food and service OK , decent swimming pool, and next to beach. WiFi very erratic and irritating, and connectivity failed frequently. Check out was a shambles for this reason.
- JUERG (8/5): Airport transfer - It was the right place to take the aeroplane in the Morning. But at breakfest to cook my scrambled egg, he threw oil with full energy in the pan and more then 10 drops of it spoilt my newly bought trousers. So I never come to SK again, having no more nice summer trousers!
- Robert (8/5): Nice stay - The staff was very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to accommodate my needs. The location is good right on the beach in a nice area of Negombo. I would stay there again if my travel brings me back to Sri Lanka.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A great hotel - We stayed in Negombo at the start of a two week tour and needed a central place to stay overnight. This is a great hotel in a good location for restaurants, bars and shops. There is a tuc tuc stop opposite the hotel if you want to go into the market area. The rooms are clean and comfortable and very good value for money. There is a lovely pool and it is on the beach.
- Verified traveler (6/5): needs some refurbishment - fish curry breakfast was the highlight, this is a $50 hotel in need of some work but no complaints
- Robin (10/5): Spent four nights here and good. - Good food and restaurants nearby. Staff wonderful.
- Matthew (8/5): Beautiful hotel, dirty beach. - Beautiful hotel, lovely staff, fabulous pool. The beach & sea are very dirty.
- David (8/5): Nice stay - The hotel was nicely situated between town and the beach. Lovely facilities and food/ drink very reasonable. Only potential downside was that the rest of the clientele weren't necessarily into kids making a noise in the pool. A great place to go as a couple - not sure about as a family. Sri lanka people were great.
- Verified traveler (8/5): good - A very good resort, a little expensive by Sri Lankan prices but very relaxing after 4 weeks traveling.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok for a couple of nights near the airport - We booked here for 2 nights before retuning to the UK after 2 weeks touring around Sri Lanka. The hotel is nice and is convenient for the airport. Our complaint was about the Pirate Bar. It was not air conditioned on the days we were there even though they have a large air con unit in situ. Also, they have beer taps for Guinness and John Smiths but do not supply these two drinks. Very misleading. On the final night of our great holiday there was a wedding reception from 7-9pm which meant we could not have dinner in the hotel
