- Luca (10/5): Great experiemce in La Fortuna - Well located - silent - good breakfast - good kitchen for the Guest. People working there are super helpful.
- Aydan (8/5): -
- Nnn1112 (8/5): Very well run hostal - Very organized hostal. Seemed very clean, though I was the only one in the shared dorm. Breakfast included, which was very decent. Best gallo pinto I had in all of Costa Rica. Kitchen available after breakfast and until 9pm or something. Fridge to store food. Water from filter to fill up your bottle. Wifi was good. It's a bit expensive, also compared to other locations. The service is very high though. And my room was good, because I was alone, but filled with 6 people, it might get a little tight with all the bags and stuff.
- John Mark (8/5): - Very simple hotel. We were hardly in the room. Rooms were fine, fridge, good AC. Service was very good.
In fact we left our passports in the safe and the staff helped make a special trip to San Jose to bring our passports last minute. That was amazing,
We definitely recommend looking for an economical yet comfortable stay.
- Carlotta (8/5): Very good - The room was nice and even had a hot shower — nothing too special, but definitely good value for the price. The two younger guys at reception were super friendly and helped us a lot with planning our trip and giving great recommendations. We were also able to leave our bags there and were allowed to take a shower after checking out, which was very convenient. Breakfast was good and the staff overall were very welcoming The kitchen could have been cleaner. Also, the older receptionist was extremely unfriendly — he treated us like criminals when we checked out and just wanted to talk to a friend who was still staying there. It really didn’t feel like the welcoming ‘Pura Vida’ vibe we expected, and it left a bitter impression on our whole stay.
- Anna (10/5): - This place was beautiful. The staff were amazing, the food was great, & the front desk guy was super helpful and patient with all of our questions and with recommendations. There is A LOT to do in this area. I would highly recommend staying here :)
- Laura (8/5): Good price/quality stay - The location is awesome, close to the city centre and all main attractions if you go to La Fortuna It was very noisy. After 10 PM, staff and guests were listening to loud music, watching movies without headphones, and having loud conversations. Since there’s a small garden in the middle, the noise echoes throughout the place every evening, and it woke me up regularly.
- Maria (5/5): Good location and thats about it - The breakfast was simple and nice. The location is good and the cleaning staff are very good. The laundry service is great too albeit expensive Aircon was SO loud in the private rooms, an inconsistent loudness that made it very hard to sleep.
Shuttle bus to the hot springs is a good addition but the driver was aggressive and unreasonable. We wanted to get off at la fortuna waterfall where he left off some other guests but he refused to let us off the shuttle and shouted aggressively at us before locking us into the shuttle. Very rude and unprofessional.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - A localização é ponto positivo.
- Verified traveler (8/5): OK - I was only here one night, in a private room. It was about as basic as it gets. The bed was okay but I could feel the individual springs. The included breakfast was alright but nothing spectacular. The staff were all very polite and professional, but the property itself was very much the stereotypical hostel, passable but not memorable.
- Pilar (10/5): - Very nice hostel, staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Our had a small refrigerator and TV with lots of channels. Bed very comfortable, good shower
- Edison (8/5): Very good - The location and environment The staff at the afternoon was rude, the guy answer back in a very bad mood.
- Nathan (10/5): Favourite place to stay in town! - It was super clean, and a little outside of town, which was nice and quiet. But it was still close enough to easily walk to the action.
- Debora (10/5): - Firest time in a hostel. Older building. Lighting is very dim in the bathroom.
Aside from that, i would recomend
- Elizabeth (7/5): Good -
- Ange-Mita (10/5): - Notre coup de cœur pour La Fortuna
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katherine (8/5): Very good - Great location down quiet street but super close to town which was excellent for us to enjoy memorable New Years Eve celebrations in the parque.
Great having access to use the kitchen & make delicious fruit smoothies. We had issues with the hot water on & off
- Patricia (4/5): - Towels smelled soooo bad, I needed to close the bathroom to sleep. Sheets weren't as bad. This was a last minute decission for me, but if you have time, look around more.
- Michael (10/5): - The place was great. Easy to get into. No hassle. Doing the QR code for wifi is great too.
- Jonathan (8/5): Very good -
- Judith (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (8/5): - Great value in walking distance of Bogarin sloth trail. Plenty of bars & restaurants nearby too. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely freshly prepared breakfast. Good sized rooms & cold showers are very refreshing!
- Bishop (5/5): Short stay - The staff were lovely We ran out of toilet paper many time
- Ildiko (9/5): We would definitely recommend La Choza Inn to friends traveling to La Fortuna. - The staff was very helpful, went above & beyond expectations, especially Anthony at Reception! The kitchen facilities were also excellent. It was all good!
- Solis (5/5): Passable -
- Cross (2/5): Uncomfortable Room, Left a Day Early. No refund Given. - The staff was fantastic and breakfast was good Room needs maintenance and upgrading. ONE ceiling light in room and bath. Fridge sounded like an never ending ultra sound machine, next to our heads. A/C was dirty and vibrated noisily. Bed mattress needs replacing. Luke warm water only.
- Tanja (9/5): Great location for a good price - Very cozy and nice place. Great location in the center of La Fortuna. The breakfast is local style and delicious (set plate). Helpful personnel and good wifi. Nice little inner court and water refill spot in there. Our room was on road side and we could hear some traffic noise but it wasn't too bad.
- Hubert (10/5): Exceptional - Our private room with own bathroom had a very good fridge, was big and comfortable. I would book again. Nice stuff and nice breakfast too. Nothing
- Cristina (9/5): Superb -
- naling (8/5): - Good location, right in town.
- Josée-lise (9/5): Superb -
- racheltermper (8/5): - Everybody working there was very nice. The breakfast is great. The courtyard is also nice and quiet and lush. They have good deals with a lot of the tours. The neighbourhood is quiet since it’s away from the main street. The rooms are spacious and clean.
- Matthew (8/5): - Good value for a couple’s private room in La Fortuna. Working AC.
- Elin (10/5): Do it - Amazing!
- Lanaro (9/5): Superb -
- Martin (10/5): Great price and impressive service - We were impressed with the how clean and how extremely helpful and nice the entire staff was. Breakfast was more than hopped for. Room was basic but clean and AC worked nicely. If you are on a budget, you get more than you pay for here. Thanks again to the entire staff at La Choza for a wonderful stay.
- Ailing (10/5): - Free on site parking, walkable to grocery store and restaurant. Friendly staff.
- Carol (7/5): Convenient location - right in town - Bed needed replacing. Very uncomfortable
- Victor (8/5): Very good - Price-Quality ratio Some services announced as free were not, like shuttle to spring waters, 20$ rate once you are there.
- sharelle (8/5): - The pictures does this place more justice than actually being here. This place is more for people on a solo trip. It gives more college free spirit vibe than friends and family. They give you a free shuttle service to one of the hot springs in la Fortuna which is a big thing out there. When we went to check out one of the staff was popping an older man’s pimples off his back and just waved us off. So we found that very unsanitary and the water was not hot, so we had to take a cold shower.
- Lourdes (10/5): I would strongly recommend location. - The place is clean with ample space in room and restrooms. Very quiet location. Close to main streets. I totally forgot to take photos. But good place to stay. I was in room#2 and the AC was not working. I didn’t report it because it was only one night. The fan portion of the AC was working but not the cooling.
- Bruce (10/5): Clean safe budget option - Great budget option in La Fortuna with a few private rooms (it's actually a hostel). I stayed in a private room. Clean, typical breakfast and coffee, and friendly staff. And easy walking distance to bars and restaurants.
- Israel (10/5): - All good !!
- Dixie (8/5): Very good -
- Yulia (9/5): Superb - Great value. You can get a comfortable private room with a fridge, safe box, air conditioning and a balcony for much better price than in other places.
The free shuttle to the hot river was a great bonus. You can also walk to El Salto spot - a cool river, any time yourself, which takes about half an hour, and feels even better in the hot weather. The hotel water was not always there. It could also finish mid-way through your shower. The cold water was not freezing and there were plenty of it. It just was not as comfortable as hot water.
- Yulia (9/5): Superb - Great place. We stayed longer than planned.
- David (7/5): La Choza - Shuttle bus for tour
Staff
Location Fridge not plugged in.
No space for clothes.
- Liam (3/5): Poor -
- Jonas (7/5): Good -
- Jimmy (7/5): In general good place to pass a night - staff was really kind in and out at night was complicated, need to weakup a gatekeeper
really simple breakfast, pinto(rice with beans) and egg, also some fruits.
- Ashley (9/5): Great spot to explore La Fortuna. - Great location and good value for money. Lots of spots to chill out in. Could hear everything going on in the space below the dorms.
- Braga (5/5): Passable - Close to downtown, a/c, breakfast ok No tv in the room
- Julia (7/5): A good place for the young at heart on a budget. - The location was convenient to the springs and parks. The kitchen and housekeeping staff was welcoming and attentive. There were too many signs. It was difficult to tell which ones were rules, adverts, or directions.
- Nasser (1/5): very bad - nothing The room is small and not clean. The bathroom is also not clean. The place is not suitable for me, but it is suitable for other people
- Andrews (6/5): My review at La Choza Inn - I liked the fact the location is convent to activities and attractions. It's suitable for a one night stay. Breakfast was decent. The hostel had not hot water nor a/c in the female double bed room. No towels had to make a deposit. Shuttle service was booked the guy told me to book an Uber as the waterfalls closed at four when I got to the park I saw the waterpark closes at 5. Didn't get to see the hot springs because of this.
- Bethany (7/5): Quiet and good location - Good location. Free shuttle to some of the more common local places (eg the free hot springs) and the breakfast is a good fill! Not much atmosphere. Not allowed to put air con on outside certain times. Lots of rules.
- Daberkow (8/5): Very good - Nice room, staff was helpful and extremely friendly, free daily shuttle to the hot springs, great location and very central. Breakfast was amazing!!
- Vitaliy (8/5): - Great for the price paid
- Waldin (2/5): - Air conditioning not working properly. TV also not working at all. Breakfast was not good enough. Street work nearby the hotel, but the hotel didn’t advice about this. Not space to park the car (parking lot).
- Jeremy (10/5): Exceptional - The location is amazing. Very close to everything especially restaurants, wildlife and bars
- Johanna (8/5): Very good - Perfect location, just 2 min to the central area. Staff is great Missing a nice relaxing garden with good chairs to take rest!
- Campos (7/5): Good -
- Dominik (8/5): Very good -
- Chi-ping (9/5): ree Hot Spring River This message is wrong and you will have to pay Ronny and Bryan at the hotel desk are very friendly. - The breakfast is delicious and the staff is friendly! The bath water is cold and the indoor lights are too dim
- Chi-ping (9/5): I stayed here for 2 nights and had to pay cash for a group room. Change is also cash. A $5 deposit is required and will - The service staff is diligent in providing breakfast The bed and door make some noise
- Sophie (10/5): - Great stay. Good typical costa rican breakfast. Friendly staff and simple good room.
- Thanh thao (8/5): - The staffs very kind and helpful. It was so noisy around 5am every day, I couldn’t sleep in.
- Yoxan (10/5): - Great service
- Myung wha (10/5): - Best location
Perfect breakfast
Amazing price
- Nancy (6/5): - No TV cable working, not warm water ot hot
- Verified traveler (2/5): Awful - Awful shower, miserably uncomfortable bed, unfriendly staff. The location’s fine though.
- Raymond (4/5): - Nothing
- Benjamin (4/5): - There is nothing really bad about this property... but it is still about a 2-3 star place to stay. Cheap mattresses, cheap bedding, and an old building. No hot water for showers of course. On the other hand, it has a nice hostel feel.
- Jake (6/5): - .
- Martynka (10/5): - Nice hostel for short stay, very kind stuff and good location. I recommend
- Georgina (8/5): - Staff were great at helping us organise plans and very amenable with allowing us to have early breakfast
- Emy (8/5): - Staff is very friendly and guided us through our stay. Breakfast was great and the place is super quiet and easily accessible!
- David (10/5): - The staff was super friendly
- Lorenzo (10/5): - Very accessible to everything you may need in La Fortuna. Shuttle company works with the hostel to take you to all the main attractions. Trails, the waterfall, hot springs, suspension bridges, etc. very friendly staff and clean rooms. Perfect for what i needed
- Corinne (8/5): - We were in a standard double room with our son. We were just looking for a cheap place to stay since we weren't planning on spending much time at the hotel/inn and the price here was definitely good. The rooms were clean and housekeeping service was good. The AC worked which was great. We didn't always have hot water but taking a cold shower was actually better since it's so hot outside. The beds/pillow were OK - they weren't that comfortable but can't expect much at that price. The breakfast was nice, served daily from 7-9am. No free hot springs are included with this hotel where some other cheap hotel/hostels do include one free trip to the hot springs. They only provide a free shuttle to the free hot springs once daily around 1pm. Overall, for a family trip or a budget traveler, this place was good!
- Angela (10/5): Family adventure. - Great spot for families looking for a budget friendly but really clean and comfortable option.
- Brandy (10/5): Nice stay - Convenient location. Room was clean. Front desk staff was helpful with everything you need.
- Baravaltl (8/5): Very good -
- Ciaran (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jose (4/5): - For the price is okay. I would not sincerely recommend it. As long as they have turists - that’s all they care. It serve its purpose for bed and shower. I would not go back
- Verified traveler (8/5): Family trips - Friendly staffs. Good locations. Good breakfast except the same for three days we stay there.
- Kelly (9/5): Superb -
- Adriana (8/5): Very good -
- Nathalie (10/5): Exceptional - Anthony, at the reception, was an excellent host. Informative, friendly, and knowledgeable. The girls serving a delicious breakfast were also really kind and helpful.
The dorms have this amazing separations, and you really have a lot of privacy, doesn't feel like a dorm at all.
Safe and lockers in the room. Clean hostel, super quiet at night and close to everything! 10/10
- Molly (9/5): Superb - The staff was so kind and helpful.
