Vicki (8/5): The stay was enjoyable. - The room was very spacious and clean. They served a great breakfast. The pool area was freezing cold. The hot tub was not working. There was barely any parking due to all the containers housing all the remodeling supplies.

JennellMags (6/5): Eh..... - This hotel is just, Eh. It's under construction, so the lobby is just a big pile of flooring, etc. Room was ok, big and clean. Shower didn't turn on all the way so water pressure was bad. Bed was uncomfortable. And we paid over $200 because it was a Saturday. Definitely better places in Grand Forks to stay in my opinion. Maybe it will be nicer after they're done updating it.

The building was being renovated with supplies at the front door and storage bins outside. We weren't informed about the renovations or that the advertised game room didn't exist. Also the vending machines overcharged, I was reimbursed a week later. Very poor experience

David (3/5): Given the problems I experienced, I would not recommend staying there. - The breakfast, location, and comfort was good. When I cancelled one night of my two-room stay, the hotel cancelled the wrong night. So, I had to rebook another room when I arrived at the hotel. Unfortunately, when rebooking my room, my nightly rate went up $40 from the $162 I had quoted with my original reservation to over $200 for the night. In addition my TV wasn't working (the HDMI cable had been unplugged) and the phone wasn't working (the cord on the receiver was bad).

Michelle (7/5): It was good for a short stay. - The location was convenient and the price was very reasonable. They had a good fitness center, and we appreciated the free breakfast. The breakfast items were fine, but they ran out of the hot egg option at 9, and didn't replenish it. The HVAC unit in our room was very loud and the shower leaked around the faucet, so the water pressure was not good.

Our rooms window and heat/air unit was leaking cold air from the outside and made a terrible noise throughout the night. The continental breakfast was of poor quality and was not fully stocked (property was not busy).

Jennifer (2/5): Wouldn't stay again - The location was great. Walking distance to the alerus center Everything was unplugged or turned off. Fridge was smelly and warm, had to turn it on. TV had 4 different cords that could be plugged in and it took a while to figure out which one was necessary. Called down for help, was told they would come up in 5 mins. 15 mins later I called back and told them I figured it out. He said he forgot about me. Breakfast was mediocre at best...even the waffles you make yourself were soggy on the inside (how does that happen?!). The bagels were in a bag that looked like they came out of the freezer and were mealy. Just overall not great.

Room reeked of cigarette smoke. Hallways dingy and the whole interior needed updating. Damaged walls in room and hallways. Pool/ hot tub was good. Breakfast was disappointing and lacking in options. Quality was not good. Waffle makers need updating and do not cook properly. Broken/leaking coffee maker all over the floor. Would not recommend or stay here again. The only positive was the location.

Ed (6/5): - It’s fine. Our first room had a broken bed, they swapped us to another room. When we went to build the hide-a-bed we had no bedding. The front desk said it was there, so we made due moving bedding from other beds. The staff would best be described as present. Breakfast was not good. There was no coffee, the waffle maker ran out of waffle mix, and the eggs were barely edible. I’m not one to complain, as overall it was fine….but everything was bare minimum.

William (6/5): Upgrading Overdue - Reception was fine and speedy. Hotel is in dire need of urgent updating. Smell in hallways was musty smelling, carpet was worn. Room was large, bed comfortable, bathroom clean. Walls need immediate repair and painting, furniture dire need to be replaced, carpet replaced. Was in a non-smoking section, but neighbor was smoking pot. Pool area was fine. Breakfast area clean and breakfast sufficient.
Stacey (6/5): Short Stay - The hotel is in need of some TLC; the phone did not work in my room, as well as the TV which needed to be reset. The carpet in my room and the hallways was not clean, there was trash on the floor in my room from previous guests, and the door to bathroom literally had greasy hand prints on it. Th walls were chipping with paint and the strong air fresheners in the lobby and hallways were overpowering, giving the feeling they were covering the small of something. The person who checked us in was not wearing any sort of uniform or professional dress and while friendly, was not the level of service at check in I would expect.

F5570XKgeorgew (8/5): Nice Place to Stay. - We have stayed at The Grand Forks Lodge (formerly, Expressway Suites) several times before. The Alerus Center is across the street, and it is convenient to UND. Plenty of free parking is available. We would highly recommend it when you're in Grand Forks.

The hot tub was a big disappointment. It was open but there was something wrong. It looked really old, there was mold or something. Dark spots. When I went to the front desk I was told that only the rooms with queen beds were cleaned that day. I was also told that the queen room is what I booked. I showed the staff member my confirmation which clearly said king bed and sofa. After 10 minutes or so, I was told that they did have a king room for me. The room was adequate but had hair in the bathtub. Also, the fridge had a buildup of ice which melted and leaked onto the carpet.

Multiple times over the 3 mornings the hot food was empty and had to go ask for it to be replenished. Just kept being one thing after another. Person just talked on cell phone for hours and not paying attention to what needed to be done. Asked for tea bags and was just told no, we only have coffee. First hotel I have ever stayed at where coffee is served but no tea.

The breakfast offered a decent selection. However, the pool was quite small and the hot tub could use some attention. The noisy fan on our AC unit was bordering on obnoxious with a high pitched drone, which impeded our sleep. For the price, this was a good spot for us. I would stay again; I'd just make sure to pack ear plugs!
Tanya (6/5): It was a bed to sleep in. - Convenient location Not real clean, pillows had stains on them. Hallway was loud. Someone tried to get I to our room 3 different times between 10:30pm-11:30pm. Pretty sure he was just at the wrong door, but we were trying to sleep.
ARTHUR (8/5): - Breakfast the morning of 6/25/25 egg "omelette" was served cold...I brought it to the attention of the gentleman working there and he stated that it just came out of the oven...either it wasn't heated up long enough or the oven is faulty...he presented a small argument, uopn which I told him to try it! My son and I left and got breakfast at a restaurant instead. The carpets throughout the hotel, especially in the two elevators are very dirty and really should be replaced! Otherwise, our stay was fine and I would stay there again.

Verified traveler (4/5): Would not stay again - Our room was not ready (clean) 2.5 hours after check-in time. When we asked how long it might be, all we were told is how short staffed the hotel had been for the last few days. When we asked for a discount, we were told by the front desk employee wearing a Victoria Secret tee shirt and no name tag that “everyone else has been a lot more understanding than you.” Never did get a discount or anything resembling an apology.

Bergmom (6/5): Interesting customer service - We were visiting family in town and found this a convenient and affordable place to stay. We didn’t use the pool but if you had kids with you, I’m sure they would love it. The breakfast with okay, pretty typical hotel fare and free, so hard to find fault with that. The room itself was fine, had a microwave and a fridge, which were nice to have. Our biggest hiccup was that we rolled in, hot and tired, at 5:30pm, ready to shower and change. Even though check-in was 3pm, the woman at the front desk told us that “we don’t have any rooms with keys available.” 🤔 After asking her to clarify that, she said that they only had one cleaning person and so the manager was helping clean rooms. I asked her when our room might be ready, she said that they were cleaning the rooms on the left side first… “and that’s not your side.” 🤔 So, once we established that they had been woefully understaffed for three days and she didn’t know when the room would be ready, I asked her if we could perhaps get a discount on the room, since it was not ready at check-in and we hadn’t been notified that there would be a problem. She said she’d have to ask the manager and added, “everyone else has been much more understanding than you.” We then offered to take a different room (don’t need a king, don’t need a sofa, etc.) She said she’d check. While we waited on the sofas in the entryway, she clicked on her keyboard but gave no updates. After about 20 minutes, she said the room was ready. We never talked to a manager, got a discount or even heard one “I’m sorry,” but we got a room and that’s really what we wanted. I’ve just never been made to feel bad for wanting to check into the room that I paid for, 3 hours after check-in.
