Guest Reviews
- alejandro (9/5): Muy buen hotel - Todo.
- W8880KNdevinh (10/5): So much fun! - The resort was beautiful and the food was amazing, a few members of my family have celiac and we were all well taken care of, and all the staff were really lovely. The shows and games were super fun and the activities crew was so nice! They remembered all our names and would hang around to chat with us between events, and we were lucky enough to have some time getting to know each of them. Chris, Luna, Malú, Rhamses, Raúl, and Jonny really made this a stand out vacation!
The day we arrived home, my little sister said she wants to plan another trip back lol :’) So, we’d like to extend a big thank you to everyone who made our vacation so wonderful!
- nber14 (8/5): Good value for the money - Overall, I would say this resort offers very good value for the money. The property is well kept, the pools are enjoyable, and the food exceeded expectations for the price point.
The biggest disappointment during my stay was definitely the beach. Unfortunately, there has been quite a bit of erosion, and during the time I visited there was an extreme amount of sargassum. The staff worked very hard trying to keep the beach clean, but there was simply too much seaweed coming in to keep up with it. Because of both the erosion and the heavy sargassum, the water was not really swimmable while I was there. If you are someone who books a resort primarily for a beautiful swimmable beach, this may not be the best choice right now.
That said, the pool areas were very nice. I appreciated that there was both a quieter pool area for relaxing and a more active pool with entertainment and activities.
The restaurants were another highlight. It was surprisingly easy to get reservations and I never had issues getting into the restaurants I wanted. The Italian restaurant was very good, and the steakhouse was absolutely delicious.
I personally don’t think the upgrade package is really worth it at this particular resort. The concierge service didn’t seem to add much value and didn’t really serve much of a purpose during my stay.
The coffee bar in the lobby was excellent and became one of my favourite spots each morning. The nightly entertainment was also enjoyable, and overall the resort grounds were clean and well maintained.
Overall, while the beach situation was disappointing, the resort still offers a solid vacation experience for the price, especially if you’re more of a pool person than a beach person.
- W4329VFjamieg (6/5): I wouldn't come back here ever not a good place of you want to relax - The platinum says it has a zero tolerance on people blasting there music but for the last 2 weeks that is all I have had different people blasting music and hearing different music is not relaxing at all I did report it but all they said nothing that they could do even though it says there is zero tolerance its definitely not a place I would come back to I haven't been able to relax the whole 2 weeks being here. I wouldn't recommend coming here at all feel like the worst holiday I have ever had to be able to relax
- lisamL8921UY (10/5): A lovely stay — I would definitely return - This was my first stay at Platinum Yucatan, and I would definitely return. The hotel was lovely and clean, and the food was amazing with plenty of choice. There was a great buffet as well as a choice of à la carte restaurants, including Japanese, Italian, steakhouse and international options.
I travelled with a friend who is visually impaired, and the hotel staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The complex is quite large, but there is a buggy available that you can hop on and off, which was really helpful.
There is plenty to keep you busy during the day and in the evening. The entertainment team were brilliant — Raul, Jonny Hot Chocolate and Gordon Ramsey were great fun. If you want to join in with aqua zumba, dancing or games around the pool, there is lots going on during the day, and plenty of entertainment in the evening too. Or you can simply sit at the swim-up bar, sip on cocktails and meet new people.
Overall, we had a really enjoyable stay and felt very well looked after.
- jasoncR6825TM (10/5): Jason - This trip was amazing. Everything about this resort is good, the food, the piscina, the staff. Jhony (hot chocolate), Raùl, Luna, Hollywood and Ramsey are amazing people, and a pretty great entertainment team. We for sure made friends here.
I highly recommend this resort, we are sad to leave, but truly happy with our experience.
- oaklik (10/5): Yucatan resort review - The Yucatan adults only resort was a great experience! Rooms where clean, staff is friendly. Special shout out to the events staff (“Hollywood” Chris, “Sexy” Juan, and Luna). They had amazing group events at the pool that were so fun and really brought everyone together and allowed everyone to let loose and have a good time.
- sandiiebeach (8/5): Excellent value and property! - We had a wonderful time traveling with our adult daughters and their spouses.
The food was really good at the ala carte restaurants, the buffet was OK and the same each morning. We did find the morning self serve mimosas though and that helped! We loved the hibachi restaurant and it was worth standing in line for (we met the nicest people!). The other restaurants didn't need any reservation and were all terrific!
The drinks are excellent and they make incredible martinis. We had premium liquor at all the bars. Also, the wine was much better at our resort than the big resort next door.
We had the hot tub room with the huge balcony but would probably do the swim out room next time.
We did enjoy the solitude of building one but it was a long walk to the main area. We had wonderful pool service way out there too!
We had fun with daily activities and contests and pool volleyball. I wish we hadn't missed the Saturday foam party, that would have been fun.
The room was incredibly nice, except for the bathroom lighting as they never came to fix the makeup mirror so it was really dark putting on makeup. The bed and pillows are really great. We had both firm and soft pillows to choose from in our room. The beds are really comfy! The A/C was perfect for us a we don't like to freeze.
The only drawback we had was the beach. It's so sad with the erosion and sargassum that is almost unusable. We knew this in advance so we were OK with it and went to the sister resort and used their beach and enjoyed all the pools.
I'd like to acknowledge Amaury our bellman and golf cart driver over to the sister resort. He was so friendly and willing to help with anything.
Also, Raphael at the front desk was very kind and nice.
I would highly recommend this resort if you don't need the beach and ocean swimming. With the overall price it was a great value. It was clean, the staff very friendly and we had one of our best vacations there!
- FabioneMexico (10/5): Excellent hotel & service! - The hotel structure is great and half of that is just renewed; food is great and service is excellent! We booked it this season, because everything is much more calm and quiet, so we could enjoy it even better. Entertainment is good fun and there are plenty of options during the day and night! Absolutely favorable!
- X9358HTwhitneys (10/5): Would come back! - Chris, Mariely, Luna, Raul, were the best! Very friendly and fun! We had a good time at the resort, we relaxed and did an excursion. Everything was clean and convenient.
- Steven (8/5): Our stay was great and the staff was always there to help. - Breakfast was great I didn't really care for the dress code for men. What is wrong with long casual shorts, at least 1-2 inches above the knee, a collared shirt and closed shoes.
- elisamF2736IT (6/5): Amazing activity staff, resort needs work - 4th time to this resort. Besides the activity staff, the resort has gone downhill.
The entire activity team is amazing but Luna gets a gold star! She was so friendly, energetic, and welcoming from day one. Whether it was organizing activities or evening entertainment, she always made everyone feel included and ensured guests were having a great time.
What really stood out was her positive attitude and genuine enthusiasm. She’s always smiling and makes you feel like family. She’s genuinely an amazing human being.
Unfortunately, while the activity staff were the highlight of the trip, the resort itself has really gone downhill. There was a noticeable lack of staff throughout the property, the food quality and variety were disappointing compared to previous visits, and the general upkeep and maintenance of the resort have clearly declined.
Thank you, to the activity staff for making our trip special, despite the downfalls of the resort itself.
- emilymJ3868DV (8/5): Best activities team!!! - We have been to Platinum Yucatan Princess many times and one of the main reasons we come back is the activities team! They always make us feel like family and ensure we have an amazing time. Luna is one of a kind and always has a smile on her face. Luna is a ray on sunshine and puts full effort and care into her work day. She made personal connections with us and is the main reason why we came back to the resort. Johnny, Ramsey, Hollywood, Raul and Mel were also amazing and kept the good vibes going during fun activity’s poolside. If you are looking for good people within a fun activities team I would highly recommend this resort.
The other departments such as front desk and bartenders should look to their activities team to see what good vibes look like. Once again when coming to this resort our main complaint was that front desk and bartender’s didn’t seem to care much about going above and beyond or on some days simply smiling….
- lokeshn142 (8/5): Awesome - My overall rating would be 4-5 just because of the seaweed issue, so if no seaweed my rating would be 5. Excellent resort for couples , I attended with a friend for a guys getaway with the chance of romance but found out that single ladies were not apparent or prevalent. Anyhow ladies aside , the accommodations are awesome, amenities and aesthetics are great, staff are all great , from security to concierge to valet to servers to all staff great job and thanks. Special shout out to the entertainment team, extremely entertaining and fun atmosphere. I will be back.
- G9329XRjoshb (10/5): Amazing resort! 10/10! - Absolutely amazing experience. Staff and everyone was very friendly and helpful. But who stood out the most is the bell boy Javier Reyes. Absolutely amazing! 10/10 service. Definitely recommend to ANYONE who wants a quality resort. Worth every penny!
Thank you platinum yucatan princess resort & spa!
- Robert (10/5): - I loved everything about this resort Nothing bad to say about the resort. We really enjoyed our stay.
- X9598JFbiancam (10/5): Family Trip - Raul was amazing with all the activities and made everything so fun!
- jessicamC1921ZU (10/5): Family trip - Raul did an amazing job with the entertainment! Always fun with him at the pool and the might shows
- Cultofp1nky (2/5): Awful - Awful! I would not even consider a 4* let alone the fact it is supposed to be 5*.
At least 2 restaurants every night were closed . Beach?? Non existent almost but regardless closed for 95% of stay.
Platinum?? Means nothing in this hotel may aswell get a basic room
Beach grill… closed
Beach … closed
Watching staff dump all the stinky seaweed onto our platinum beach from the sister hotels … disgusting
At least 2 restaurants each night … closed
Pool bars not open till 10 …advertised as 9
Dirt and grime and mould build up in room … disgusting
Hot tub flood on my balcony due to lizard which I had to fix because staff took too long and if I hadn’t would have overflowed the balcony!
Finding out staff only make $20USD a day
Will never suggest to anyone
- Leticia (6/5): - Las habitaciones de sunset están mas bonitas y cómodos.
- Lee (10/5): 넘좋아용 - 동물이많앗다
친절햇다 없다
- Resort764918 (8/5): Nice and quiet - Just returned from a week here. Overall we were very happy with the hotel. Food was a high standard, the rooms and public areas were clean. The beach was not really usable due to the seeweed. The swim up rooms were a bonus and we were lucky to be in block 1 which was quiet. Negatives were a lack of shade, more umbreallas needed and people being duscouraged in saving an umbrella all day but not using them! Great adult only resort but may be too quiet for some.
- michaelmX8000DP (10/5): Great 50 th birthday trip - Our trip was great! Hotel was clean and staff was very attentive. Sarah our waitress at the pool bar was amazing and funny. The staff was great!
- Francisco javier (10/5): Excelente atención por parte del todo el personal - El trato del personal excelente todos son excepción muy amables Le hace falta mantenimiento a los climas ya que es una zona de mucho calor es el único pero
- lisawQ7454AH (6/5): Good resort, great staff - We had a lovely time. Staff and families were excellent. Only criticism would be the volume of seaweed on the beach - very smelly in the afternoon.
- Matteo (8/5): -
- O8527ITamberc (10/5): Morning Yoga & Pilates at the Lagoon - Had a wonderful and invigorating morning workout at the Sports Park. Marco guided my family and I through a gentle yoga flow on a paddle board. Not as easy as it looks but Marco was calm and instructed us on how to keep our balance through the poses.
Ivette taught the Pilates class afterwards and took us through a series of simple yet challenging movements. I was working muscles I didn’t know I had! Overall, the instructors are friendly, professional and offer great assistance to get the most out of your morning workout.
Highly recommend if you’re looking for some fun movement to start your day!
- Q9057RYlinhn (10/5): Yucatán Princess- Thank you for a GREAT week🥰 - We stayed at the resort 1 wk…what a fantastic experience. Staff are so friendly & helpful. Yucatán Princess will not disappoint, huge suites, clean, excellent pools & bars, the food from every restaurant & buffet is delicious. All the supervisors & staff in restaurants so detailed to your every need, like Georgina from buffet restaurant…
Nightly entertainment is really awesome, especially the Pirate Show👍
- juanmauriciog2025 (2/5): Worse experience Resort ever! ☹️ - We have been vacationing at the Sunset Princess Resort since 2016, and after many wonderful years there, we decided to try Platinum Yucatán this year, expecting an upgraded experience. Unfortunately, this ended up being one of the most disappointing vacations our group has ever had.
Every year we travel with a large group of 12–30 people and spend a significant amount of money at this resort. Because we have been loyal guests for so many years, we naturally expect a certain level of quality and service. Sadly, this year did not meet those expectations at all.
One of the biggest disappointments was the beach. Many people in our group love spending time by the ocean, but there was barely any beach left due to the overwhelming amount of seaweed and the unpleasant smell that came with it. While staff worked daily to rake the seaweed, the cleaning efforts were nowhere near as effective as what we experienced in previous years at Sunset Princess, where machines were used to keep the beach in much better condition.
The service overall was average at best. Housekeeping repeatedly forgot to leave bath towels or hand towels in our room, despite us tipping daily. It honestly made us wonder if there was a towel shortage.
The biggest issue, however, was management. There seemed to be very little concern for guest satisfaction. Restaurant reservations were not accommodated, and guests were rudely told to line up before opening time—if the restaurants were even open, since several rotated closures throughout the week.
The food was another major disappointment. More than half of our group became sick during the trip, including myself. We are experienced world travelers and understand how to be careful with food and water while abroad, but this was the first time we experienced stomach issues this severe in Mexico. The presentation of the food looked beautiful, but unfortunately the flavor and quality did not match the appearance.
The drinks were overly sweet and lacked the quality we remembered from previous visits. The elevators were also constantly out of service, sometimes both at the same time. Thankfully there were stairs available.
As a scuba diver, I also had issues with transportation. The shuttles refused to take me to the front entrance to meet my dive group, forcing me to walk both days with my gear. Whether due to short staffing or policy, again it was frustrating and unnecessary considering the price paid.
The public bathrooms throughout the property were often dirty, smelled unpleasant, and on multiple occasions did not even have toilet paper available.
For years I highly recommended this resort because it once provided a great balance of service, relaxation, Mexican culture, cuisine, and hospitality. Unfortunately, those days seem to be gone. After this experience, neither I nor my group will be returning. Spending $20,000–$30,000 annually as a group clearly does not seem to matter to management anymore.
I can no longer recommend this resort to others looking for a relaxing vacation. The beautiful beaches shown in advertisements are no longer the reality, and the excessive mosquitoes, seaweed, poor food quality, and lack of attention from management made this one of the worst resort experiences we have had.
To the management and owners: please take these concerns seriously and make improvements so future guests can enjoy the quality vacation that this resort once provided.
- Navigator00400894687 (10/5): Princess visit - We had an absolutely amazing stay at this resort! From the moment we arrived, Raul, Luna, and Christopher went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable. Their kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail truly stood out.
The sexy Raul was incredibly welcoming and always made sure we had everything we needed. Stunning Luna brought such positive energy and made every interaction enjoyable, and handsome Christopher was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about making our stay perfect.
The resort itself was beautiful, clean, relaxing, and exceeded our expectations in every way. The outstanding service from this team made all the difference. We can’t wait to come back and highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a five-star experience!
- jerickoleec (10/5): Buffet Yucatan AM - My partner and I had a great time at Platinum Princess and would like to extend our thanks to the F&B Buffet Lunch Team!
It was always wonderful to see and be greeted by Karen as you enter the lunch room. Such a great smile and energy that will make your day!
I'd also like to personally thank Armando for always tending to our needs. A real role model of hard work and perseverance. Quick on his feet and gives his guests a proper guest/customer service. A real asset to your team!
Thank you also to Melisa and Brian for ensuring that guests are happy and content with their dining experience.
- annalautaru_ (10/5): 10/10 - We had such an amazing experience here! My husband and I felt so comfortable the entire time—our room was always clean, and everything we needed was taken care of.
What really made our stay special, though, was the staff. Karen, the hostess, welcomed us every day with the sweetest smile, which always put us in a great mood. Melissa, the manager, along with Armando, Gerameel, and Rosemberg, were all so kind and attentive—they truly made us feel taken care of and added such a personal touch to our stay.
- GlenD120 (6/5): More to follow, don’t bother honestly however will give a full review when back in the UK. - 10 times in Mexico over 27 years and worst hotel, can’t wait to leave on Thursday.
Will give in-depth review when fan we can get WIFI.
The beach doesn’t exist and not a person in the sea and the stench from the building up of seaweed, Mexico has a problem with it which is out of their control however the hotel we stayed at last year cleared it every day and beautiful sands.
As a result the mosquitoes are horrendous, everywhere, rooms bars restaurants and everyone saying the same from all countries.
No matter what you use you are bitten every where, as I’m going to repeat 10 times out here and going back with more scabs and bites than tan.
Never know anything like it in 25 visits to the Caribbean, I put a couple of pictures that thought appropriate of bites however they are all over my body.
Hotel food is shocking in most aspects as everything is cold and I mean cold.
Some meals were good but cold, they provide a microwave to reheat your meals 🤦♂️
We paid to go into PDC 3 times just to get a hot meal which we did again this evening Tuesday 5th of May
- Culture07387423904 (10/5): Best holiday - We came here for my 30th birthday! It was our second time in Mexico (first time at this hotel) but first time for our friends and wow we were not disappointed.
When we arrived we were a bit sceptical about the pools with it only have one main (loads of long pools) and then a smaller "deluxe" pool. However, after spending the first day in the party pool we then spent our time at the smaller pool and wow it was the best. There was always room next to the pool with plenty of loungers. Not only was there a swim up pool bar but a lovely lady walking around bringing you drinks.
The service was impeccable (we ended up tipsy a few days with the consistent top ups) and the food was amazing. There was such a good choice especially for gluten free people. As well as gluten free choices at the buffet there was also a separate menu you could choose from.
The rooms were clean, modern and spacious!
This would be a hotel we would come back too time and time again. The beach wasn't great but it was our fault for going during seaweed season, but it was constantly getting cleaned and if you walk further down you'll have lovely white sands!
We had a full body massage in the spa and it was amazing!
Well worth the visit!
- Diana (10/5): Pasado de bueno!!! - El personal de animación, son lo mejor! Las almohadas muy altas
- Lowri (9/5): -
- T3360LLlouises (8/5): Feel slightly ripped off - You pay more for the Platinum rooms which apparently have exclusive access to a pool bar along with a few 'perks' But none of these perks are worth the price difference. But basically we paid approx £900 extra (2 wks) for the same access as everyone else, even those booked in the cheaper rooms on the other side of the hotel. Swim up is not exclusive either, everyone can use even though booked room with one.
The Platinum upgrade also means a separate lobby access, so you would think politer staff catering to your every need. Initial check in was fine, as was check out. But every time we went to the lobby with questions or to change money we were treated as if an inconvenience, including them not having any smaller currency, even though just 2 mins later when we circled back in the petty cash tin was open with the same receptionist with the pesos she apparently didn't have! The non Platinum lobby were our salvation, were always helpful, always willing to change currency. But someone needs to give the Platinum lobby a reminder that they are a customer service industry, maybe some training on dealing with all questions instead of just saying no, not today would be helpful.
The rest of the staff were great, there are some real characters there who make the experience great, including the guy in the buffet who provides sound affects regularly, no they're not cooking cats (haha). Some of the bar staff were also very welcoming and helpful.
The food was great. Only complaint is about the Grill, the only special restaurant we visited, you did feel like you were an inconvenience, but this is because you can't book in advance (unless the outside pods) so you end up with crowds all stood outside, it would make sense if all the restaurants were booked in advance saving the staff being harrassed and trying to work out availability in real time.
DJ Morales seems ill placed, he is a club DJ, but the Salsa Bar attracts all ages, several visits were cut short because I don't want to listen to techno all night long, which is a shame as the bar staff were great in here. The entertainment outside covers more genres of music most nights, and people are actually up dancing!
Its a beautiful location, lovely to see so many animals up close as well. The coatis didn't bother us at all, 1 did try to get in the room but it seems they are not in the abundance we thought, couple of racoons too. Iguanas are everywhere. Lots of lovely birds including humming birds very close to the rooms. We did witness some drunken moron jump over his glass balcony to chase a coati along the edge, which was stupid and dangerous. I hope that the locals are looking out for drunken fools behaving this way and ensuring the animals don't get hurt in that moment that seems like a good idea!
- 381jaynac (10/5): Great time, very relaxing - We had an amazing time overall!
I really enjoyed the availability of the room service, buffet, and a bar which all ran 24/7. They had plenty of varieties of cuisines. Very popular was the customizable omelet bar for breakfast. The specialty restaurants were delicious and had beautiful decorations. Be sure to bring fancier outfits (nice dresses, closed-toed shoes, slacks, button-up shirts) to meet dress codes for the specialty restaurants.
There was plenty of complimentary items in my room, and those that were not complimentary were clearly labelled in both English and Spanish. I was pleasantly surprised to find rain shower heads in the shower plus a bathtub. The floors in the rooms are marble and they get very slick when wet, just be aware and try to keep things dry. I got the room with the hottub, it's on the 3rd floor balcony and comfortably seats 2 people. I got slightly confused, what looks like an overflow plate is actually the knob to adjust the drain. The nights did get cool enough to enjoy the hottub, especially with the breeze.
Pools close at 8pm so the noise cuts down pretty early for anyone who goes to bed early. The main central pool has plenty of activities to do throughout the day that are clearly documented in the app as well as on an activity board (shows the entire week!) The DJ Johnny had great taste in music that really set the mood and created a good time. Christopher "Hollywood" was another star at the pool, providing great entertainment and informational lessons in aerobics and cocktail mixing.
Service was pretty good. For the most part, staff were very friendly and helpful. There were a few individuals that I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt and say they were just having a bad day. It just gave me a much greater appreciation for those who clearly went above and beyond in their service, like Bryan at the buffet and Benedicto at Aroma. They were both very kind, attentive, and speedy in their service. I never felt a moment of needing with them around.
I had a very relaxing time down at the beach. There was seaweed which is very common at this time of year, but there was staff that was combing it into select areas to try to clear it out. It's fairly shallow (calf-height) unless you go further out. I was able to find hermit crabs, small fish, and even sea slugs while exploring the shallows!
- HollyWilkin (8/5): Worth a stay! - I read a few reviews about this hotel before staying here and truth be told, they made me nervous. My husband and I were looking for something really special to celebrate a milestone birthday and this initially ticked all of the boxes.
Location: This hotels location is fab. It’s not too far from the airport - which is great after a long haul flight! We visited several main attractions during our stay and all of them were relatively close with good transportation links.
Rooms: We had a swim up room and it was amazing. The room was cleaned daily and refreshments were replenished within the mini bar (which is free) without us having to ask. The room was huge with modern furnishings and a luxurious feel, however please mind the door when entering the pool as I cut my foot on the runner on the first day.
Staff: The staff here are amazing. Everyone is so kind and no ask is too much. There is a lovely positive atmosphere around the building.
Food: The food is ok. The restaurants are all great aesthetically but there is no consistency between them all. We liked the Rodeo for its setting and princess burger, but the steak was not as nice as in La Brushetta. Overall, there was plenary of variety which is always nice.
In previous reviews, I have read that there are too many coatis and iguanas, we did not find this to be the case. Yes, there are a lot but this is their home and you are their guests. It you leave them alone, they will leave you alone.
I also ready about the building looking tired and I would have to agree that in parts of the hotel it looks a bit worn. During our stay, renovations were underway and it’s really important to add that the staff work tirelessly to keep this hotel nice for the guests.
Finally, and this was the only thing stopping me from putting this as a 5*, the noise level from the other guests at night. We had a couple above us who would argue and vomit until early hours of the morning. On the third night, the finally gave in however the other neighbour decided to wake us up at 3 am talking very loudly about his upcoming flight to someone of the landing. It’s a shame because this is not the hotels fault
- brog974 (2/5): Avoid at all costs! - Avoid at all costs! Dirty beach that you can’t even get into the water at based on garbage and seaweed. The main staff running the buffet are rude, angry and even when restaurant was empty insisted on our small groups being split up and sent to different areas. There were wild monkeys drinking from the chlorinated pool and weak drinks. We were a large group of 50 and requests that were agreed upon were not met, and every day our group had to put out fires with rude staff that did not want to take accountability. Stay away.
- mariauB9396UG (10/5): Princess hotel stay - Me and my friends had an amazing experience in yucatan princess. Met some wonderful people Luna, Malu, Ramsey, Raul, Johnny and Christopher. I recommend this hotel for anyone who likes have a perfect balance of quiet stay and party night!
- Manuel (9/5): Super bien - Excelente atención, especialmente la diferencia de trato entre entre el.perspnal de estw hotel.y los.ptros colindantes
- Leti (8/5): Overall was great - The valet team, specially Enrique made our stay a 10/10 Reception/concierge people not very helpful
- aislynnc2026 (8/5): Loved it! - This is such a lovely, clean, safe resort. The staff are really kind and work hard! The daily buffet is one of the best I’ve had (and I hate buffets) with so many options for vegetarians or other dietary restrictions.
The beach is quite rocky so didn’t spend much time there but you have access to other beaches nearby.
Special shoutout to poolside server Sarai - she made my birthday extra special and made some mean drinks.
- jtdt2020 (8/5): Our vacation - My wife and I just returned from a week long stay at the Platinum Yucutan Princess. Here are our thoughts...
Check in/out
Check in and out were both a breeze. We were assisted immediately and the process was very simple. The bellhops helped us with our luggage and showed us to our room. Every day when we walked past them to go to breakfast they greeted us by name. They do a fantastic job. They also helped us arrange a cab to Puerto Morelos and found a driver that would sit and wait for us while we explored the town. Remember, cab fares are set by the taxi union and not the hotel. Cab fares are pretty expensive.
Room
Our room was very clean and comfortable. Way more space than what we needed. Loved that the toilet is separate from the rest of the bathroom area. The double sinks were a plus when getting ready. The shower was very spacious with double rain shower heads and a hand held attached to one of them. We've been to many different resorts across Mexico and the Dominican Republic and this might have been the first shower we had that didn't flood the rest of the bathroom when in use. Also, no problems with hot water, there was plenty. We had a king size bed which was firm but comfortable. We did the swim out suite and loved being able to go right out of our room and be in the water. The patio furniture is a little uncomfortable however. Nicer chairs and loungers would be a plus. We were in building 2, facing the party pool. There was a hedge row between our pool and the main pool that blocked the view but wasn't necessarily a bad thing. It was loud there so be aware of that if you are in building 2 facing east, building 4 facing west or building 3. You will be close to all of the daily activities. Room was cleaned daily, mini fridge was always stocked. If we needed new pool towels we just left the old ones with the bath towels and they were replaced.
Pool/Beach
Plenty of pool options for you. The quiet pool is located near the beach. The party pool is located near the front of the resort. We saw many employees cleaning and adding chlorine to the pools on a daily basis. The party pool can get a little slimy from all of the sunscreen and, I'm sure, bodily fluids from the guests that never get out of the pool. You do have to get up very early to save a chair if you want one pool side. They fill up fast and there aren't a lot of chairs. However, there are loungers all around the resort where you can go lay out, they just aren't right by the pool. We had great sun from our room from early in the morning until around 3 pm. At 3 pm my wife would go find one of the open loungers away from the pool and get a couple more hours of sun. As for the beach, there really isn't one. It's very small. Plus, this is a bad year for seaweed. Talked to many locals and they said it came early this year and has been more than they have seen in many years. If you are looking for a great beach, this isn't it. Just know that going in.
Entertainment
Plenty around the party pool throughout the day. If it's not your thing you don't have to participate. Just remember, some people do and the entertainment team are just doing their jobs. Saw some people who thought they needed to be part of the entertainment. In the evening there was always live music in the bar plaza area from around 8p-10p. Then there was an evening show either in the theater or the plaza at 10p. Bar Salsa was also open late. Casino night was a blast. Very much enjoyed playing some Texas Hold Em. Entertainment staff worked hard and did a great job. Shout out to brother and sister Ramses and Luna!
Food
We did the buffet for breakfast and never had any issues. Food and service were great. For lunch we did the poolside grill. Burritos, tacos, burgers and dogs and had not issues. The burritos were excellent. We did not try the snack shack on the beach. Dinner was simple, the steak house and Italian restaurants were open every night. Food was good in both. Disappointed you had to pay extra to sit in the "bird cages" at the steakhouse. The Japanese restaurant and Aroma alternated nights of being open. We did not try either of those. Dinner at the buffet was decent.
Service
We didn't have any issues with any of the employees we encountered. Some were better than others but they are all working hard. If they stop to chat with you then someone else is getting upset because they aren't being served. The bellhop team is the best. Entertainment is great as were the housekeepers and maintenance staff. The wait staff was good, some were better than others.
Exchange privileges
We did not go next door to the sister resort. However, everyone we spoke to that did said it was nice and that they had enjoyed the beach and food they tried there. It's nice to have that as an option, we just didn't do it.
Overall
There is some construction going on at both resorts however it didn't affect us or bother us. We enjoyed the property, services and staff and we did not have any issues. We met some great people staying at the resort and saw some other people that probably should have had babysitters. Can't blame the resort for other people's poor behavior. We enjoyed the drinks at the various bars we went to and had no problem with any of the food choices. This was not the best resort we've ever stayed at and it certainly wasn't the worst either. We wouldn't hesitate to return here in the future, we had a great time.
- Manuel (10/5): -
- Bartian0907 (4/5): Definitely Not A 5 Star + Message To The LGBTQ Community - This is not a five-star hotel. It just isn’t—and it’s important to set expectations accordingly.
Let’s start with the positives. The property itself is large and generally clean. The rooms are spacious, well-kept, and the showers are excellent. There’s definitely comfort in the accommodations, and on the surface, the resort looks the part.
Unfortunately, that’s where things start to fall apart.
Service is inconsistent at best and poor at worst. Staff often struggle to communicate clearly, and basic hospitality feels hit-or-miss. One day, we sat in a restaurant for 20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us—no water, no greeting, nothing. That wasn’t a one-off experience either. There’s a general sense that staff are either unwilling or unequipped to resolve issues.
We also had an issue with our room at check-in that was never resolved during our stay, despite raising it—another example of the lack of follow-through.
The beach is a major disappointment. It’s rocky and consistently covered in sargasso seaweed. On some days, it just sits there for hours in the heat, unaddressed, making the area unpleasant and unusable.
The resort’s dress code policies are also frustrating and feel outdated. Men are required to wear long pants, proper shoes, and shirts for dinner, while women are allowed far more flexibility—including flip-flops and very casual attire. The inconsistency is noticeable and, frankly, feels unfair.
More concerning, there were multiple instances of hearing disparaging comments about LGBTQ guests from other patrons. When this was raised with staff, there didn’t seem to be any clear process or willingness to address it. That lack of response speaks volumes.
Food quality is mediocre, and to make matters worse, several restaurants are frequently closed, limiting options. Despite being billed as “all-inclusive,” there are multiple add-ons and extra charges—including access to seating at one of the restaurants—which undermines the value proposition.
On top of that, there is ongoing construction around the property, which adds to the inconvenience. At one point, a public restroom was closed due to construction, forcing a trip back to the room.
Bottom line: while the resort looks appealing at first glance, the experience doesn’t live up to the promise. There are better places to spend your money.
- Pilar Lara (9/5): -
- sherri807 (6/5): Mixed review - Amazing service. Sunset princess Alexis, lupita and crew were amazing. Extra charges like the seafood at rodeo grill not worth it. Tuna could be mistaken for overcooked beef. Dead shellfish also on plate.
- davidfA8209LC (4/5): If you’re looking for a fun adult resort worth money…… this resort, isn’t it! - I found this resort highly disappointing! I had read the reviews, which were all fairly positive so I was a little surprised from the moment I walked in the resort. We got in fairly early in the morning so our rooms were not ready so they directed us to three small bathrooms outside the spa to change into our bathing suits and these bathroom bathrooms were disgusting. Smelt like urine, mosquitoes were so bad we couldn’t undressed in them in the mold on the ceiling and walls.
The food was less then desirable, the main swim pool was absolutely disgusting! Band-Aids, floating in the water, trails of body oil, and sunscreen throughout the pool. The pool bar at the bottom, swim up smelt like strong urine. The staff couldn’t make even the basic drink properly and they definitely didn’t look like they enjoyed their job even with a tip.
When speaking with other tourists, none of them would leave their swim ups either to go to the big pool because of how disgusting the water was and the maintenance of it.
Now let’s talk about the entertainment! The entertainment was so immature and juvenile people weren’t even paying attention
If you’re going to entertain adults, then have adult content games. These were absolutely childish games and unless you were extremely drunk, nobody played. So don’t have any great expectations of their poolside games.
Music was terrible, the whole pool side swim bar was just very un appealing.
The only decent meal we had when we were there was at the steakhouse and the last day we took the shuttle to its Sister resort buffet
Wish I would’ve found that rate from the beginning because our buffet was terrible.
We were a family of nine and they were less than accommodating to our group size.
Needless to say the majority of our vacation was spent hanging out in our swim up area.
The last night, our air conditioner didn’t work, but we were leaving at 3 AM in the morning so we just basically stayed awake. Then, when we went to freshen up in the morning before catching our shuttle, there was no water to our rooms. By the time the water was turned back on we were already leaving our rooms to our pick up shuttles.
I definitely would never recommend this resort to anyone!
And a person can’t say you get what you paid for because it wasn’t a cheap resort by any means.
- Jet57118061915 (10/5): Amazing vacation - Amazing trip at platinum yucatan princess. Food was good, the quiet pool was nice. Special mention to Bryan at the Yucatan buffet, he is very friendly and gave great service.
- jasend2026 (2/5): ****must read items and money gone missing last day of cleaning*** - ***** must read belongings are not safe**** stay was spring of 2026. just stayed here with a group of 19 friends. Hotel was clean, food was good nothing special. Hotel servers and staff not as friendly as other hotel I have stayed at and this was noted before the insiders and by most people in our group that haven been to Mexico before.
Most importantly on the day before we left the hotel we have multiple friend at our swimm up room all day. The cleaning service cam later in the day around two too four in the afternoon. Friends report they seen a man cleaning the room similar to the the one we had tipped very well all week. Once we got back too our room after getting out of the pool in front of our room we were getting ready for dinner I a went to grab some tip money from the short pocket I was wearing that morning. The shorts were no where to be found. Or the tip money. Me and my wife searched the room multiple times and ask our friends if they had them mixed with any of there towels. No where to be found.
I gave the cleaners the benefit of maybe they got swept up in laundry and made a report to the concierge and went do dinner. After dinner the concierge said they check in the laundry area and there was nothing in the lost and found. So I made a report of stolen money and clothing I filled out the report and security checked my room head to toe once more still couldn’t find them. So I still was optimistic that the next day in the morning and the day we were leaving they would turn up.
The next morning when I went to the concierge’s desk to ask again is when the story gets very even more suspicious. They must have talked to the cleaners because they told me there was many people in my room and they are the ones that took my money and stole my shorts. (Ok friends from 40 years stole my clothing and money) I said the was completely not the case. They also said the report was only for 100 Passos, and that was complete not what I wrote on the report. So I told them either there is two reports of this or they change the value on the report of how much money was stolen!! I asked for a manger to have a talk with and the see the report that I wrote to take a photo and they brought out another conseirge out not someone in charge of the hotel. We had an argument and they kept blaming it on my friends and said there is no way a hotel staff could taking anything out of the building. Ironic that I ended up having to jump on. my shuttle transfer to head to the airport.
Needless to say I believe the cleaner was moving my shorts off the bathtub and felt a bunch of Bills in my pocket and just tossed them in with the towel and then kept the cash and tossed the shorts.
Not sure if it is common but I realized after there where no cameras on the hotel any where after looking.
I will not be going back. And caution with your money and belongings with this hotel This is the first time in all my trips to Mexico something like this has happened.

- 158alanar (6/5): What to Expect _ Things I wish I had known - This review is for those who want to know what to expect when they come to this resort so they aren’t surprised upon arrival.
We stayed for 9 days in a deluxe swim-out in Building 3, which we specifically requested. This building has direct pool access to the main pool and pool bar, so it’s one of the livelier areas of the resort. Expect noise and activity from around 10am until about 5pm. We don’t nap, so this didn’t bother us, but it’s something to consider depending on your preferences.
Pros:
The staff are lovely and work very hard. Everyone was pleasant and agreeable throughout our stay.
The bed was decently firm, and the showers were consistently hot.
We really enjoyed the Bruschetta restaurant and went three times.
Overall Property Condition:
The resort is showing significant wear and tear, and maintenance does not appear to be keeping up.
There are cracks in floor tiles throughout the property. Cabinet doors are often crooked or falling off hinges, and trim around floors is peeling or coming apart.
The public bathrooms are in quite rough condition. They have a strong urinal cake smell, poor lighting, and hand dryers that don’t work.
Room Details:
Humidity is clearly affecting the rooms. We noticed rust stains on the floors from rusting furniture.
The pillows are hard and lumpy and feel like they should be replaced.
The towels have noticeable soap buildup and feel rough on the skin when used. A good vinegar wash is needed to improve this.
Vanity lighting is very poor, even with the light-up magnifying mirror. The hair dryer, however, worked very well.
The double showers are spacious, which is great, but the shelf space is very small. There is also visible limescale buildup on the shower heads.
Coatis are everywhere. They’re cute, but they are a nuisance, and you won’t realistically be able to sleep with your patio door open.
The AC worked well overall but was noisy.
Housekeeping / Towels:
Our room attendant was sweet and helpful, but there appears to be a towel issue at this resort.
From day one, we requested four shower towels daily through both concierge and housekeeping. If you shower in the morning, after the gym, and again after the pool or an excursion, you can end up using the same towel multiple times—and these towels do not dry between uses.
Despite making this request about five times, we only received the full amount once.
Pool towels were also difficult to exchange. We often had to go find someone or hang them out to dry ourselves. Requests through concierge were not fulfilled.
This was our biggest frustration. It’s a simple service item that would make a big difference if addressed.
Staffing & Service Flow:
It’s very noticeable that the resort is understaffed.
At the pool bar, when it gets busy, there is often only one server working. Wait times for drinks can be 15 minutes or more.
In the à la carte restaurants, the servers are clearly working hard, but they are stretched thin. They are not only serving tables but also clearing and resetting them, which slows everything down.
Because of this, service can feel slow—not due to lack of effort, but because there simply aren’t enough staff to keep up with demand. It impacts the overall dining and poolside experience.
Gym:
The gym is fairly well equipped, especially when it comes to free weights.
However, it is not well-maintained. The AC is turned off during off-hours, so humidity builds up significantly and is taking a toll on the equipment—many items are rusting.
When the gym opens and the AC is turned back on, the first few hours are extremely muggy while it cools down.
The weight machines max out at relatively low weights, and some cable machines appear to be incorrectly labeled.
If you train in pounds, note that the weights are in kilograms, so it helps to know your conversions.
Food:
The buffet is typical of most resorts. I was always able to find something to eat, especially when going right at opening, when the food is fresh.
The pasta station was a standout for me, and my partner really enjoyed the omelette station.
Beef (Context for Canadians):
For Canadians, this is worth understanding.
Canadian AAA beef comes from younger cattle and is aged. Mexican beef is typically from older cattle and served fresh, without aging. This results in a different texture.
Even when cooked and seasoned well, the steak can feel noticeably different—firmer and sometimes rubbery.
We had one great steak at Rodeo, but when we went back another night, the same cut was very tough. The rest of the meal there was excellent.
Aroma:
Aroma is very tasty, but portions are quite small. It’s common for people to head to the buffet afterwards for more food.
Drinks:
This could be a pro or a con depending on your preference.
Unlike some resorts (like Riu) where drinks are watered down, drinks here are strong—especially at the pool bar.
Even when requesting “easy on the alcohol,” they were still quite strong, which made them less enjoyable for me.
The house red wine was decent, though I’m not a wine expert.
Vibe:
We are a middle-aged couple (45 and 52), but still enjoy a lively atmosphere.
This resort leans more toward a middle to older crowd and has a more relaxed vibe.
The entertainment staff do a good job trying to engage people, but the activities reflect the crowd—bingo, aqua aerobics, etc. The foam party was fun, but due to the smaller guest population, it doesn’t get very big.
Renovations:
During the last four days of our stay, most of the shops were closed for renovations.
While renovations are needed, the areas being worked on did not seem to be the ones most in need. The rooms and public (non-revenue) areas require more attention.
There was also loud construction noise (likely from Building 2), so work may be starting elsewhere.
The pool decks and swim-out patios are in rough condition and need resurfacing. In some areas, the concrete has deteriorated to the point where it feels sharp underfoot.
Beach:
If you are a beach person, this may not be the right resort.
The beach is very limited and appears to be disappearing. Ocean entry is rocky and not very enjoyable, in addition to ongoing seaweed issues.
You can walk to a nearby sister resort for better beach access, but it includes children.
Transportation (Playa del Carmen):
If you’re used to Uber in Cancun, that option is not available here due to local taxi regulations.
Taxi prices are high—around $35 CAD one way for a 10 km trip. A round trip to somewhere like Walmart can cost around $70.
There is a $5 shuttle option, but it requires about an 18-minute walk after drop-off. For anyone with mobility issues, this may not be practical.
This was a major deterrent for us and a key reason we wouldn’t return to Playa del Carmen.
Overall:
Overall, we had a nice time. We relaxed, went off-resort three times, and the pool temperature was great most days. We met a lot of Canadians—it felt like a bit of a takeover.
The swim-out room was 100% worth it and was the highlight of the trip.
That said, the resort doesn’t align with our expectations in terms of maintenance, service consistency, beach quality, and location, so we wouldn’t return.

- La_mellyy (10/5): Amazing Solo trip ✨💕 - Princess treatment 💕. My first time in Mexico and it was amazing! Special thanks to Enrique & Flavio for taking care of me my entire trip. Very attentive bellhop care and more 🫶The hotel was beautiful and the food was great too! I enjoyed my solo trip and getting to know amazing people☺️ . A lot of great content & memories made. Definitely coming back soon! Gracias 🥰
- AARIF (5/5): Good, far from great. Wished I had went somewhere else - Location was ok. Adult side of the resort isn’t huge such as the princess family resort so very easy to get around. - despite what you read about others reviews, the food wasn’t great. 2/5 at best. Buffet is repetitive menu. Everything has pork or contains traces of pork (so be careful to the fellow non-pork eaters, this resort isn’t friendly for that diet restriction
- concierge do zero follow up with their guests . When I was at Paradisus resort, our assigned concierge checked up on is at least 3 times a day with in person visits.
- this is not the resorts fault but there was massive seaweed invasion which started early this year (April 2026). Lots of resorts have cleaners and nets to prevent the majority of the Sargossa from coming to the beaches, not the case here. Zero prevention measures, so forget chilling at the beaches. It’s an eyesore and smells horrible with the winds . made complete sense why the pools were jam packed.
- T7375XLdanas (10/5): Entertainment staff 10/10 - The sports entertainment staff were exceptional, they always had high energy and made sure everyone was getting involved in the activities. Great atmosphere and very kind people
- MsToni712 (10/5): A diamond in Playa - Came here on a girls trip to celebrate my best friend's birthday. What a wonderful time we had! The staff are all friendly and helpful. Enrique at the bellhop desk started off the trip with warm greetings and assistance. Check in was pretty quick. Food was really good -- our best dinner was at the Italian restaurant Aroma. The entertainment show crew is top notch! We got to watch their first Michael Jackson show the night we arrived and MJ is me and my bestie's favorite singer so we had high expectations. They definitely met them! So much so that we went to the sister property the next night to watch the show again before coming back to our resort to watch their late night Burlesque show.
Rooms were huge -- I had a double bed hot tub terrace room and you could seriously sleep at least 5 people in there.
Tip your bartenders and the drinks will be great.
The room AC doesn't go below 23° C/about 73° F so manage your air conditioning expectations. This was consistent with everyone we talked to.
Only hiccup -- I ordered room service the morning of our departure and it never came. No big deal; just ate lunch before we left instead but I was looking forward to a little breakfast in bed to close out my last morning.
All in all, we both said we would come back again with more people.
- Arlandra (5/5): Long story short, i wouldn’t stay here again - The pools were clean, rooms were a nice size, the water was hot, the liquor was strong and they have a 24hr buffet, the gym was clean. The staff are def a hit or miss. Most of them were rude and ignored you. I’m not sure if it was intentional or not because maybe they didn’t speak English but I’ve had WAY better service in Mexico. The beds were hard, there was rust and much needed repairs to many things such as the patio chairs, the walls, trash cans, shower heads and knobs. They ask that you leave your food outside of the room when done but if they don’t pick it up, the birds and “monkeys” will come eat it AND IT CAUSED ROACHES! We had 3 dead roaches in our room!!!! All by the entry door and in the bathroom. I purposely left one in the bathroom to see how long it would take them to clean it up. It took 2 days!!! some days, there was trash scattered everywhere on halls! Everything felt rush. Food was ok. Nothing I had I would eat again. Room service was very limited. We ordered from it and the receiver told us we could only order what was on the menu and told us they didn’t have any of it. We explained we were ordering from the menu and they gave a nasty reply and delivered what we asked over an hr later. The room service food and restaurant food was never hot. Always lukewarm. They DO NOT CATER TO NON WHITE PEOPLE! You will get old played out music and entertainment at the pool. The beach is narrow and there are bags of trash on it and random debris. Not one worker cleaned it up. They just kept bypassing it!!!

- crisdN2363LB (8/5): my 40th wild party for the retired. - my trip overall for my 40th wasn't what I expected but it was still great. I was hoping for more nightlife but if your more into relaxing and sleeping by 8pm this resort is prefect for you. ( I went two weeks after what happened in P.V. so it could have been a quieter time)
SCOOPY DOO PA PA - ask for one these shots, they are really good.
The property of this resort is absolutely gorgeous - specially if your into animals and the amazon. With that being said, if you are prone to getting eaten alive by sand fleas and mosquitos- I HIGHLY SUGGEST to bring STRONG Deet bug spray and bring unscented shampoo/body wash. bring allergy pills they really do help.
Only complaint I have which resort has no power over is the seaweed at the beach. if your beach people this resort is not for you.. you can take a short walk to the family side but even there i was able to go in once - i do not recommend going in through the seaweed - a lot of it trapped is particles of jelly fish - a lot of people walking out complaining of rashes and burning, so beware. i waited for either a clear enough time go in which was only one day out of my trip or go to the main beach in Playa - a lot cleaner there and able to swim.
i believe its the way the water drifts the seaweed. not the hotels fault.
location of the resort was about 10 mins drive to 5th Avenue - short drive in and out - this hotel does offer a shuttle service with times coming back as last as 7pm. If you want to go clubbing or nightlife in town your own your own for transportation.
My room was over the top clean - very clean - very impressed of how clean this resort was and tidy. pictures you see of a "mess" is those cute racoon looking animal, just trying to feed himself and his family.
The entertainment staff don't get enough credit. TBH without them the trip probably would have been really boring specially the night life died out by 9pm. they got great activities through out the day at the pool with Luna ( great energy - amazing lovely woman) Ramses ( what a voice this man has - he aint no Raul jr) Raul and Hollywood. 11/10 for this crew.
There is a nightclub " Plaza Salsa" right next to the buffet- it was empty every time - they had nightclub next door at the sister resort - but it was in the theatre room and it has carpet - idk about you but carpet is a little challenging.
My only problem I had on this trip was checking in and transfers. I booked through Sunwing which was probably the first thing i did wrong.
My friend and I did came from two different airports and flights - but I called Three times to sunwing to ask if she is able to still check in with out me and they said not a problem every time. I called the resort before i left my trip explained to them my friend will be there 4 hours before me and she said not a problem we will check her in and get her fed... yeah well everything i worried about being problem was a problem. My friend didn't have a transfer to go to the hotel - so they used mine.
long story short it didn't run as smoothly and organized as i thought and expected it should be. Nexus did whatever the could do to get me there but on the way back they were trying to tell me i was sh1t out of luck but i wasn't having that. I highly suggest Sunwing/Nexus goes to the binder system where people can just come and see what time they got to be in the lobby to depart.
Front desk staff wouldn't check my friend in - she got there around 4 o clock - after a 7 hour flight( with hardly any food) they said you can wait in the lobby till your friend comes - you can have drinks at the lobby bar but no food... Hotels reasoning was Her name wasn't the "lead name" for the reservations. stupid - maybe they can figure out this nonsense of a policy. if she has a passport and her name on reservation( why was it such a problem) doesn't make sense besides this and on how they pour their drinks its like Mexico wants their tourists to get black out drunk cause its easy to extort drunk people. for instance on the beach at the resort there are about three guys selling cigars/vapes and weed - 90% of them are police officers. so here is a tourist tip: don't buy weed from randoms off the beach. lol sounds dumb but when your 6 shots of tequila in - everything sounds amazing.
food 10/10
staff 10/10.
hotel policy 4/10
all around experience I give it 8/10.
- Adventure68060027379 (8/5): Playa del Carmen - We visited the Yucatan Princess back in 2019 and while we enjoyed it, the beach was not approachable due to the sargassum buildup and smell. We wanted to go back in March 2026, but were worried about the seaweed. There is a web site "howisthesargassum" which tracks the seaweed with live views of the area, which was very helpful. It showed light impact, so we booked. We upgraded the room so we could be near the restaurants and buffet. Food was excellent, especially at Aroma - great escargot and duck confit. Kotatsu Japanese dining is what you'd expect. Rodea was adequate for steak. We had breakfast and lunch at the buffet, and it was better than I expected. Karen (hostess) took care of us. Waiters Armando and Brian were fantastic (Brian is very funny and efficient - if you see him, offer a "meow"). There is also a Brazilian Steakhouse next door which you can visit, but I wasn't impressed with the food. Aroma's steak was much better. There were waiters walking the beach and pool areas taking drink orders which is great. So we had 3 days before the sargassum started to roll in! The beach is a great place to hang out anyway, and the seaweed didn't smell, so we spent a lot of time there. I'd definitely go back.
- pouyab2026 (6/5): 3.5/5 - Great service & vibes, but major downsides (internet & beach) - I stayed 9 days at Platinum Yucatan Princess Adults Only and tomorrow is my last day here. Overall had a good experience, but a couple of major issues really impacted the stay.
Highlights:
• Service (10/10): Staff were amazing—friendly, polite, and always helpful. Bartenders and waiters were excellent.
• Atmosphere: Beautiful resort with lots of greenery, wildlife (we even saw a deer!), and a very relaxing vibe.
• Pools & entertainment: Pools were clean, fun, and lively with great bars. Entertainment team was fantastic—shows, games, and foam parties were a highlight.
• Food (8/10): Buffets were consistently good. À la carte restaurants were enjoyable but not a major upgrade over buffet quality.
• Rooms (7.5/10): Clean and comfortable, slightly dated but overall solid.
⸻
Major Downsides:
Beach:
This is important for anyone who cares about the ocean. The seaweed situation is real—yes, it’s seasonal and not the resort’s fault, and to be fair, the staff work hard every day to clean it. Most days it was manageable. However, there was one day where the buildup was so heavy and the smell so strong that it was honestly unbearable—we couldn’t even walk near the beach without feeling sick.
Beyond the seaweed, the bigger issue is the rocky shoreline. This is just the nature of this specific location, but it makes getting into the water difficult and sometimes painful. There are many sharp rocks, and I actually injured my feet a few times trying to get in.
There is a sister resort a short walk away with a better beach, and we ended up going there most days. It’s definitely more swimmable and has a better vibe (more activity, volleyball, etc.), but even that beach is, at best, maybe a 4 or 5 out of 10. So if you’re coming to Mexico expecting a soft sandy, crystal-clear beach experience—this is not it.
⸻
Internet (Biggest Issue):
This was by far the most frustrating part of the entire stay.
The internet feels like something from 1995. Not just slow—almost unusable. It constantly disconnects every couple of minutes with no warning. You reconnect, it works briefly, then drops again. Repeat. Over and over.
I understand they offer a paid “premium” internet, but the standard Wi-Fi isn’t just basic—it’s borderline non-functional. The resort is also in a more remote area, so mobile data isn’t reliable either, which makes it feel like you’re completely cut off unless you pay extra.
To put it into perspective: writing this review took me almost two hours because I kept getting disconnected, reconnecting, refreshing, forgetting the network, reconnecting again… just to load a page.
In 2026, at a five-star resort, this really shouldn’t be acceptable.
- 806megam (10/5): Excellent - The best service on spa Yucatan, Yadira thanks 🙏👍. And every staff
- Adriana (10/5): - Los restaurantes ☺️ a la carta son una delicia..🥳 felicidades a los chef. Y los chicos de animación son 10 de 10😊 Que no estaba abierto 🔓 el Sport bar 😬
- joanng197 (10/5): An amazing experience - This was an amazing experience. The broad range of food is awesome and all you can eat at the buffet, drinks can be brought to you or you can go to the swim up bar. There are lots of places to sunbathe. No need to worry that you won’t find a place. Very well maintained grounds. You may see an iguana and coati pass in front of you. No need to worry. They leave you alone. Comfortable beds and lots of activities to take part in, if desired. Great value for the money. We will return.
- 472chelseys (10/5): Loved - I’ve probably been to 20 different resorts between Dominican and Mexico and this was my fav.
Small, very clean and well kept grounds.
Food was incredible. Always hot. You could eat at the buffet every meal and still be satisfied. The hibachi was a lot of fun.
The pool was perfect temperature. Not too busy, always chairs available but head out early to save yours if particular. Lots of shaded areas and day beds.
We upgraded to the platinum side and it was sooooo worth it if you wanted to a quieter experience.
Drinks were great.
The only problem, which was a big one but not in control by the resort - the beach. So much sargassum that it was not really swimmable :( but again, not the resorts fault. They were doing their best to clear it.

- Excursion52645673172 (10/5): We will come back to our Mexican Family. - We’ve come back to Platinum Yucatan Princess 6 times. The staff are always genuine and happy to help in anyway they can. They are our family now. The flowers and birds, beach, pools, sports park, shops and delicious Buffet are all a beautiful way to spend our days.
- 388clarkg (10/5): Great pool party! - Mar was great during the entertainment! We loved hanging out with her!
- chrisoM4503FE (10/5): Carmen - Swim out junior suite very good. Quiet, comfortable and restful. Staff is friendly and helpful, persona like Israel at front, Aurelio in the lobby and many others
Beach could be better maintained- not
About The sargasso but the rest.
In general good- and you get
To experience and use the other Princess faculties next door
- 930sharik (10/5): I love mar - Mar is the best I love her she is so fun
- iambatman2176 (10/5): Mar is the best! - Mar was great at casino night!!
- jourdand2026 (10/5): Casino night - Mar was the best host for casino night!!!
- LisaB586 (8/5): Great Week - Swim Out for the Win! - We had an amazing week relaxing in the sunshine. The resort is fantastic and the swim out is a must! We were on the quiet end of building 4 which was super convenient and away from the party pool.
Service was amazing across the board from buffets, à la carte, swim up bars, main lounge bar. Great music and vibe.
Two issues:
1)we found the food to be bland at all of the à la carte options. Presentation was great but please introduce some garlic and seasonings.
2) the house wine which is offered is TERRIBLE. We don’t mind a moderate wine but honestly the rose was undrinkable, the red passable in a pinch. We ended up purchasing wine for dinner which is an additional $60-$100 so if you enjoy decent wine be prepared.
If a resort wants to be considered higher than à 4 star you need to provide better wine.
The beach bar is fun for lunch and great wings.
If you want a beach spot this is not it but the pools make up for it!!
Over all had a great trip!

- H3236VNlindar (10/5): Two Weeks at a Great Resort- Platinum Yucatan Resort Adults Only - Our experience was excellent. The resort is gorgeous immaculately maintained and very comfortable for all aspects of holiday.
The spa was a wonderful experience with massage, chocolate and champagne.
Regardless of the location for eating, all meals were superb!
It was a treat to enjoy Duck confit, steak, ribeye and seafood crepe ..
The daily greetings by the staff at the buffet were pleasant and coffee with Mimosa was served on a very timely basis.
Shout out to Hostess Karen, and server Bryan, our daily housekeeper and all staff👏👏👏
- P2563FGvictoriaf (10/5): Exceptional Service - felt more like family than guests. - "If you are looking for a place where you feel genuinely cared for, this is it. Amaury was phenomenal. He assisted us throughout our entire stay and consistently went over and above his duties to assist us. He has a gift for making people feel at home, and we truly felt like part of the family thanks to his kindness and professionalism. We can’t wait to come back!
A huge thank you to Amaury for the world-class service. He was attentive and helpful from check-in to check-out. He really goes the extra mile to ensure guests feel welcome. It’s rare to find someone so dedicated to their work—he is a huge asset to the team!
- gpizzale28 (10/5): Great week in the sun - We had a wonderful time at this resort! I really enjoyed all the activities, the staff was amazing. Especially Johny, Mar, Rham and Iveth. It was fun be active to the great music and fun activities. Really enjoyed paddle board yoga and the pilates. The resort is lovely and all staff was helpful. Would recommend it!
- Yasemin (4/5): I would never come again - Nothing really but I think I can be thankful that the room was quite clean apart from some things It was really dirty in the hotel area. There was a piece of soap behind the sink. it seems that they’re just clean the floors outside once a day.
I’ve barely seen a dirty hotel like this. And let’s not even talk about the food. My fiancé almost ate nothing. My gluten-free bread was hard like rocks. The meat was so dry that you couldn’t even swallow it. I’m not even in the mood to comment anything else because it was a really bad experience compared to what you pay
- jencK5419HN (10/5): Amazing as always ❤️ - We have been to this resort and the grand sunset princess a total of 5 times, we have had such a wonderful experience every time we are at this resort
This last time was so amazing we had a wonderful bell boy named Javier Reyes and his colleague Enrique they were so helpful when my husband lost his phone and with our return transfer, they were both so funny and kind and made our stay so much more enjoyable
I hope we get to see them next time we come, which hopefully will be next winter
- B8092NOmoniquev (4/5): Past its Prime - No atmosphere
Cleanliness is service level
Staff friendly but unhelpful
Crumbling infrastructure (especially the sports centre)
Rooms older and in need of some TLC
Booked a two bed room but given a single king sized bed (brushed off anytime a request to be moved was made)
Great French restaurant
Drinks were strong
Nice long quiet beach
The under-construction kid friendly sister resort next door was way nicer and spent most of our timers there (better pool, better beach with a lovely sandbar, better food)
- scheuer77 (10/5): Platinum Yucatan Princess Review - We recently returned from visiting this resort with a group and loved our experience.
The bellmen Enrique and Royer took excellent care of us and shuttled us to the sister resort whenever we asked. They were so friendly (always smiling and laughing).
Our rooms were in the 4000 block which was just across from the main lobby so close to the restaurants. We had swim out suites and highly recommend them. You enter via steps…no ladders. These swim outs are not connected to the main pool but you are close to the activity if you want to hop across. The pools in these rooms got sun from around 11:00 to 4:00.
This resort is very established and beautiful and we will definitely visit again.
Beach is small and had some seaweed but the workers were hard at work trying to keep it clean.
- deebeautie (10/5): The visit was amazing. Resort was beautiful and entertaining. Thank you to the amazing staff as well for making my bday - Amazing resort and friendly staff. Mucho gracias to Paulette for decorating the room, very beautiful. The doorman Flavio, Israel and Enrique - they been such an amazing help throughout the stay. Also Heriberto the bartender- amazing service. I wish I knew the young men who was at the taco stand near the pool - they both amazing as well. Mucho gracias and see you soon!
- 927tatianaa (8/5): Good times at Platinum Princess - We stayed at the Platinum Princess (Adults Only) at the end of January. Overall, we have a very positive experience.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. We had no problems with anything – from the transfer to the check-in, the booking of side-trips or the service at the restaurants. Thank you to all the wonderful people who made this happen. There was the occasional glitch (i.e. one day they didn’t clean the room, but the maid came after we called the front desk), but really nothing major.
The grounds are clean and well-maintained (better so than at the Sunset Princess, the family resort). There is nice wildlife (we saw some deer and iguanas), not too many coatis (one climbed onto my 2nd-floor balcony, though, keep the balcony door shut at all times)!
The entertainment is just excellent. We especially enjoyed the fire show which was a step up from anything we’ve seen, and the Disco show at the theatre. A shout-out to all the amazing performers! You guys are great!
We do recommend scouting out the path to the sister resort Sunset Princess on day 1 or 2 just so you get an idea of what else is there. It’s only a 7-minute walk if you’re up for it, or a short cart ride from the lobby.
I have to say that the Platinum Adults-only part felt oddly quiet and sleepy, and it’s MUCH smaller compared to the Sunset resort. The beach is definitely better at the Sunset – fortunately, it’s an easy 5-minute walk just along the beach to get from one part to the other. Highly recommended, as there are fewer rocks on the family side.
The restaurants in the Platinum are nice (we went to the Rodero Grill and to La Bruschetta twice and enjoyed them a lot), and you do not need a reservation, but Rodero Grill gets busy during dinner rush hour and you might have to wait for a table. The buffet was smaller (some people in our group liked it better, while others preferred the Princess), but the lobby bar at the Sunset is 3 times larger and the lady baristas are more knowledgeable about making a proper cappuccino. You do have to show your bracelet with a special number to get some of the medium-tier alcohol at the family resort (there are 3 tiers altogether, you have all-inclusive access to tiers 1 and 2 with your Platinum bracelet, while tier 3 is for the Premium clients) but overall the selection of alcohol available to you is bigger at the Sunset. The bars at the Platinum are nothing to write home about. Go for the Margaritas, that’s what Mexico is famous for – tequila and tequila-based drinks.
Now let’s talk about things that can be improved, and that is SPORTS PARK.
The Platinum Princess has a “sports park” halfway between it and the Sunset resort. The park looks abandoned most of the day. There is some activity in the pool (?), also ONE pool table that shuts at 5 p.m. (why?) and a rifle/archery range that is open for one hour a day, alternating between rifle shooting / archery. This is ridiculous – when we came for the archery, there was a line of a dozen people already and you only get three arrows, that’s it. Whereas there were 3 instructors every day for Zumba in the party pool, with 4 people in the pool… It would make so much sense to have more time slots for archery and rifle shooting so that more people could enjoy it – it’s crazy how UNavailable these activities are. Also, more pool tables would help!
Another area that could use improvement – Salsa Nights VS Karaoke night at the bar in the Platinum.
There is ONE (1) Karaoke night a week, and SIX (6) Salsa (dance) nights a week. Karaoke was packed full, there people were enjoying themselves for 2 hours, cheering for each other, dancing and having immense fun. The dance nights are… just dead. There would be a couple or two dancing and another couple sitting at the bar hoping someone else would show up. You guys need MORE KARAOKE!
And another note about the design choices. The rooms are typically for two guests. Oh, and the rooms are nicely big and beautiful! The resort went into enough expense to install a double sink and even double shower heads (Thank you!). But they exercised the savings by putting only 1 (one!) hook for the towel.
The balcony door also has a screen door with a very poor design. There is no handle or stopper for the screen. Please watch your fingers when closing it. I almost lost my finger in that door, the blood was everywhere.
That’s it for this review. Overall we had a very pleasant stay, good value, fun experiences and good memories!
- shellsteele (10/5): Amaury the bellboy our favorite - Room was fantastic. We were in a deluxe with whirlpool bath on balcony. The atmosphere was very chilled and relaxing. Service exceptional. Staff fantastic. Asked for our pillows changing for softer ones and done same day.
Had a slight issue with noisy neighbour in early hours but after a call.to reception it was sorted straight away.
Weather wasn't great but this hotel provides a shuttle bus to town so we had plenty to do.
Big shout out to AMAURY the bell boy. He is a great chap and helped us with anything we needed. So happy and polite, nothing was a problem for him.
- breannab646 (10/5): Beautiful resort 10/10 - We had an amazing stay at this resort. We booked the Deluxe Junior Suite Swim-Out room and it was absolutely beautiful. It was definitely worth it. The entire property was clean, well maintained, and had such a great atmosphere.
The staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming. A special shoutout to one of the doormen, Isreal, who really stood out. He was always so kind and greeted us with a smile every single day.
The food was great overall. The à la carte restaurants were really enjoyable, and the buffet had a huge variety with lots of options. There was always something to eat no matter what you were in the mood for.
There was a good mix of guests which made the vibe fun but still relaxing. There were activities going on throughout the day, and every night there was entertainment or a show, which we really enjoyed.
Overall, we had such a great experience and would definitely come back.
- arielo935 (8/5): Great Experience - We had an excellent time at Platinum Yucatan Princess last week! From getting there to check out, everyone was so lovely and helpful. Huge shout out to Javier Reyes, one of the bell boys, who was a consistent friendly face and beyond helpful. The food was better than your usual all inclusive experience, though we would’ve loved to see a Mexican restaurant option (the one at the hotel nearby was all booked up during our trip). The room was absolutely beautiful with all lovely amenities. The towel service was a bit confusing, and it was a bit difficult that you only got one set of towels for the day - although I do appreciate the eco friendly efforts of the hotel. The night life was fun and diverse. We appreciated that we could hang out at the nearby hotels - the Grand Princess had a better beach, but we preferred the amenities and food options at Platinum Yucatan Princess.
Overall, we had a great time and look forward to returning!
- Crawford (7/5): My stay was relaxing and pleasant. - The entertainment was really great! It was nice having the sunset resort to go to as well. Not all of the restaurants being open every day. Unable to eat at restaurants without reservations, but there was no way to make a reservation in advance.
- 553selenal (8/5): The best a la carte restaurants. - Traveled in Feb 2026 as a couple for 6 days. 40 minutes from airport is a bonus. Took a taxi from airport ( cheaper than shuttle) 1200 pesos per car.
Good stuff:
Room is spacious and bright, I liked that.
Resort grounds are pretty. Lots of free sport activities: archery, rifle shooting, golf, paddle boarding, yoga and more.
The restaurants were amazing. Usually after restaurant you go back to buffet, but in this resort every evening we dinned at restaurant.
Great Shows every evening and after that DJ till late.
Buffet was good, but can be better for 5 star Resort.
Not so good:
Beach is very narrow and rocky entrance. You can walk a bit further towards other resort and it will be sandy. But still you can swim over rocks to the sandy part if don't want to walk. Not a big deal. Sea weed was cleaned every day.
Beach buffet had very little choices: burger, ribs. shrimps and French fries.
Being late to yoga class will not get you to yoga class. No mats provided and on question where to get it, instructor ignores you. Though she is very good yoga instructor. I understand she don't want interrupt the class, then place the extra mats so people can quietly join the class.
Though we did enjoyed our time in the resort, but more likely will not be coming back to this resort.
- johnpD2899AV (10/5): Resort is going to be what you make of it!! - Just returned from a short 4-day visit. If you've taken the time to read any of the other recent reviews - for the most part they are all spot on. My review is based on 25 yrs of traveling to this area on vacation.
Resort: 3.0 - a perfectly fine average resort, it's not a 5.
Rooms: 3.0 - nothing overly spectacular / or bad - signs of wear noted.
Service / Staff: 4.0 - overall very good.
Food: 3.0 - its mass made food for a large group of people, it's never going to be fantastic - it was fine - just average.
Drinks: 3.0 - very sugary blended drinks, top shelf only used if you asked. Coffee was good at the main bar near buffet.
Beach / Ocean: 0.0 -Sucks! The worst beach I've seen at any resort. This is not even taking the seaweed into consideration - which the resort can't control.
Pools: 3.0 The pools were small but fine. I had a Platinum swim-out. Again, very average.
If your able to get this resort at a good deal - and you're looking for a comfortable place to unwind and relax - and you're willing to make the trip your own - this may be a good choice. Unless I found an amazing price on this resort - likely will try something different. Hope this helps when deciding!
